Warriors of Kelon #7

Embracing Emily

Rate this book
Physically scarred and emotionally broken, Kelon Warrior, Vallarr, is sent to Earth as a guard to a group of Kelon scientists and healers. When he meets the little human English teacher, she stirs his body and mind in more ways than one.

Emily Morland, left partially paralyzed in her youth, is assigned the task of teaching English to the Kelons. Unafraid of Vallar’s prickly personality, she sees a deeper hurt behind his gruff behavior and wants to help.

While her tender touch sooths and calms Vallarr, she pushes to explore the powerful attraction between them, not caring about consequences. As their passion grows and their bond strengthens, forces move in to rip them apart, sending Vallarr’s mind spiraling into a deep, dark despair.

As the fates bring them together again, can Emily’s embrace bring Vallarr back from the darkness? Or will he be lost to her forever?

I am a full time mother and part time writer. I live in a small country town in Victoria Australia. I have been writing ever since I learned to read, and almost endlessly drifting off into the fantasy world of my imagination.

Thankfully, I have a great group of supporting writer friends; a husband and three; currently small children who help keep me grounded.

When I’m not day dreaming of creating new worlds for my stories or madly typing away on my laptop. I have plenty to keep me busy on the home front.

This is 4 stars for a hot and steamy novella... not to be confused with a 4 star serious read.

Great hero and heroine, love the alpha aliens. The story was decent and had decent conflict (although a bit predictable)

I liked how the heroine grew a pair of balls and gave it back to her father.

I wished it had a little more sci-fi feel but it was enough to get by.

The sex scenes were okay, I was expecting them to be longer and spicier.. but they were not.

I'd recommend it and will think about reading more of this author and series.

Safety:

Hero & heroine, first only and last.
No cheating, no OM/OW
Cursing-Yes
Adultery-No
Rape-No
Marriage baby-yes
HEA/ILY-yes

Because this is currently favorite genre (Mars needs Women), I might have rated this book higher than others would have. I just love the fantasy of a planet of big hot alien warriors who flip their lids over Earth girls. (shrug)

This book maintains the same yummy standard Aussie Angela Castle has set for this series.

-= SPOILERS =-

The book begins with a group of Kelon warriors hunting down the human women that the other/bad aliens kidnapped and were using as breeders. Commander Vallarr has walked into a booby-trapped situation resulting in the deaths of the women and serious injury to himself. After Vallarr's rehab has him healthy again, High Commander Kerr (Abducting Alice) orders him to go to Earth as security to the group that will be living on an Army base working with the humans.

Now that the governments of Earth have accepted that the aliens from planet Kelon mean them no harm - they are now begrudgingly welcoming the Kelons to Earth to share their technology and medical help.

Emily Moreland is invited to come meet with her father, Colonel Moreland on his Army base. Her mother has long since passed, and Emily isn't terribly close to her controlling/manipulative/over-protective father.
Also - Emily was stricken with polio as a child, which resulted in a loss of mobility. Emily requires a cane to walk, but is still fiercely independent.

Colonel Moreland has somehow arranged for Emily to loose her job teaching English to immigrants - and is bullying her into taking a job on his base to teach English to Kelons.

Emily gives into his manipulation but argues to have her own home on the base instead of living with him. She begins teaching a classroom full of flirty, attentive Kelons alongside her father's appointed chaperon/spy/protector, Lieutenant Simmons. However, the big grumpy Kelon Vallarr catches her eye immediately.

Although the Kelons are tripping over themselves to catch her attention, Emily can only seem to think about Vallarr. She suggests private English lessons for him in the evenings and he agrees.
Emily discovers Vallarr has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and calms him from an episode.

Vallarr & Emily's courtship is dragged out a bit, but they eventually get together.
Colonel Moreland has been covertly trying to get his daughter with Lieutenant Simmons, and using Simmons past indiscretions as blackmail material in order to coerce the man to woo his daughter.

It all comes to a head when Emily's father finds out about Emily & Vallarr. The Colonel lies to both Emily and the Kelons to separate them from each other.

There is a lovely HEA with definite possibility for more. It is implied that the Kelons need to investigate human psychology so they can better care for the mental health of their own people.

Recommended!

Vallarr, Kelon's commander that failed a mission to save human females that were taken as breeding slaves, is mentally scared by the event. But with Kelons not really grasping mental health, he is sent to Earth as a guard to a peaceful knowledge and trade mission and in hopes of his guilt for the unfortunate females to fade.
Emily, the partially paralysed daughter of the colonel in charge of the human side of the mission, is placed as an English teacher for the Kelon team.
Vallarr has a flashback and a panic attack in front of her and she calms him down while deciding to help the wounded warrior.
With the amount of time they spend together, they fall in love. But the dangers for their happiness do not come from mounds of Kelon men trying to catch her eyes as well, but from a place much closer to home.
Finding the story of Vallarr's PTSD and the plot from the humans in charge is a read worth any reader's time.

I'm really sad to leave the world of Kelon it was a great series from beginning to end. I am glad to see that life is worth living for Vallarr because he so deserved it after the way he was so kind to Sara. I love the Kelon warriors and wouldn't mind reading more about them and their interactions with earthlings.

Good book except all the sex scenes, evil Simmons & I hate Emily's father. Controlling, evil bastard!!
The Kelons should have known better. How did the Australian government not see what a racist Colonel Morland is??
I like Emily with the Kelons. The Kelons are adorable.

An excellent story, though heavier on the sex than the others in the series. would love to read more, but the author seems to have dropped off the face of the Earth.

An emotionally broken, Kelon Warrior, Vallarr, is sent to Earth to be the security commander for Kelon scientists and healers. His failled mission to save some human females left him with PTSD and his Kelon society was not equipped to identify and deal with his "issue".

Emily Morland, partially paralyzed in her youth after a poli fever, is assigned the task of teaching English to the Kelons. She takes an instant likeness to Vallarr and the feeling was mutual. Emily was able to see past Vallorr's grumpy personality and identify his troubles. Gradualy she started to help and teach him at the same time and their love grew as well.

As their passion grows and their bond strengthens as well as their love and Vallorr claims his Corami. As ever Kelon warrior, he did know what he wanted.
Emily's father manages to separate them but in the end the get their HEA (i don't want to give to many spoilers).
I enjoyed the book and Vallarr's sensibility and need for Emily. Nice story. I got a bit more details about Kerr and Alice. I wish the Kelon society was more explored but it's good enough for now.
I am looking forward to more stories with Kelon hunks.

This series has definitely warmed as it's gone along and I really enjoyed this one. I loved Emily for how strong she is and I appreciated what she represented to Vallarr and how she helped him as well.
