Eluvonia

Rate this book
For 3,000 years, Eluvonia has burned—torn in two by a war between fae and dragons that no one even remembers how to end. Aeris, a sharp-tongue fae, never planned to be anyone’s prisoner—let alone magically bound to Kaida, the cold, too-perfect son of the dragon commander.

But Aeris isn’t just another fae. She carries a power that shouldn’t exist, one both sides would kill to control.

Thrust into enemy territory and chained to someone she should want dead, Aeris must navigate a world of secrets, sabotage, and ancient lies. And Kaida? He might be the enemy, but there’s something about him that makes her wonder if he’s as heartless as he pretends.

The war is breaking. The truth is bleeding through.
And the bond between them might be the spark that sets the whole realm on fire.

Pick your side. Fae or dragon—only one can survive.
Or maybe… neither.

What an adventure with some amazing found family, villains I definitely despise and lots of heat. I really enjoyed the ups and downs of this story, the tension , the twists and the plot as it unfolded. The characters were oh so lovable and I can totally get behind a dragon daddy. Did we mention the dragon shifter MMC is a shadow daddy ? The fmc is tough and smart. Adored her. Really interesting world building. Can’t wait for the next book !

Favorite Quote: “She is mine.” The way he said it … It wasn’t just possessive; it was layered, deliberate. A warning. A claim. A promise.

This book has:
Morally Grey MMC
True Shadow Daddy
Slow-burn
Dragon Shifters
Found Family
Fae Rebels
Enemies to ????
Interesting Magic System

✨️ARC Review✨️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
🌶🌶 2/5 spicy: has a little bit of spice but not too much if you aren't into that type of thing.

This book was easily devoured in two days and had me flying back into the fantasy world!
If you are ready for a journey, then this book is for you!

I love the plot of this book. Characters were fun to follow, and you will easily find yourself rooting for. Sarcasm is my second language, and I love the banter between the three main characters as well! It had me giggling more than a few times. Emotional, thrilling, and full of fantasy action. I enjoyed the little twist and turns of this book. It's full of different realms, faes vs. dragons!!
I enjoyed this book so much!!! I'm eager to see what else is in store for future books!

"He is disgustingly gorgeous. For a Dragon."

I could not put this down!
From the beautiful descriptions of the landscapes to the building of friendship and trust between the characters this author has created a world that I cannot wait to read more about.

For 3000 years a war has been raging between the "gentle" fae and the "ruthless"
dragons for reasons hinted at in this the first book of the series.

Aeris, our lead female is a fae who is learning there is more to her then even she knew about all while also learning how the world works outside of her cave system home. Sharp, witty and blunt she is a force you will not soon forget.

Kaida, SHADOW DADDY ALERT. Dark, brooding and dealing with his own daddy issues he shows how true friendship really should be all while being a protector to those he loves.

Declan, the best friend anyone could have when dealing with all-out war and destruction. His optimism and humor add a lightness to this trio that smooths all the edges.

I had the pleasure of being an ARC reader for this book and I for one cannot wait for more!

My only critique is the lack of spice, but the plot was still enough to keep me locked in to finish this read in one day.

I will not give spoilers, you will have to read this story for yourself. Just be warned, it’s a journey that will take all of your time. You will not want to put the book down. The author does a fabulous job describing the world of Eluvonia. I could feel the forest on my fingertips. I could smell the ocean and envision the creatures.

The FMC, Aeris, has an astounding journey of self discovery. She was beaten down but still manages to rise to any occasion like a true warrior.

The MMC, Kaida, is a grumpy misunderstood shifter. He has no choice but to have Aeris in his life and doesn’t make it easy for her.

Declan, who is by far my favorite side kick ever, is funny and that total bro who is down for anything.

I am giving it 4 stars because while the banter was great it did seem to go on for almost the whole book. This story is beautifully written, and I am looking forward to see how their story ends.

This is my first book hangover this year. The devestation 😭. I have a lot of emotions happening.
This book is more than a fantasy or romantasy. It has epic world building, I didn't even think about the pace because it flows so well.
Dragons, fae, magic, slow burn, found family, a lot of things.
I don't like giving too much away, I like to tell you how I feel and all I can say is I am now so attached to this book. The second one needs to come out immediately, I have to take a moment to read anything else because I still have a book hangover and I am recovering.
Just read it for yourself, add it to your tbr, I would be absolutely shocked if you didn't enjoy Eluvonia.

The vivid world building Eluvonia is dazzling, immersing the reader in a magnificent fantasy. The creation story, Fae, and Dragon Prologues are pure magic - my favorite parts. The innovative magic system and fresh spin on shifters (no spoilers!) are captivating.

Aeris and Kaida’s dual POV brings fun banter and clashing personalities, but their emotional depth doesn’t match the lush world. A lack of personal history and emotional resonance left them underdeveloped, while the descriptions of the action felt heavy. For me, this also made the spicy scenes feel out of tune with the narrative and detracting from the story.

That story is very intriguing though! The plot is humming with important themes: truth, values, and the manipulation of history as a control mechanism. The characters grapple with flawed beliefs, which is compelling, but the pacing stumbles, with unresolved threads.

Still, that cliffhanger left me wanting more and looking forward to book two! The author excels at lush settings and lore and can build on the character histories and emotions as the story unfolds.

I’m rating it above average for its stunning world and creative magic, eager to see where this series goes next!

"Of course, he's not wearing a shirt. Because why would he bother with a shirt?"

This book was phenomenal. It has amazing world building, but it's easy to follow. I didn't have to spend the first half of the book trying to figure out what was going on and was able to stay interested from start to finish. The dragons hate the fae and the fae hate the dragons and we get to see a glimpse into why along the way.

The characters in this book are so easy to like, there's no "wanting to like" them. Our FMC is strong, but sensitive and has a tongue on her that will definitely keep you laughing. Declan is the man every single one of us wants in our life. and YES, Kaida is a shadow wielder AND a dragon. I mean come on, what else do you need? The spice is still in this book, but since it's book one you don't get a book chalked full of it. I personally enjoyed that because I enjoy a slow burn all the way. I have a strong feeling there will be PLENTY of spice in later books.

Your emotions will be tested in this book and you will immediately want 17 more of them.

I was incredibly lucky to be gifted this book as an ARC reader and I'm leaving this review of my own will.

✨ Eluvonia✨

*May contain spoilers*

“She is mine,” he says, voice sharp as a blade. “And no one will touch her.”

🐉🧚‍♀️

I was lucky enough to be able to read this beautiful ARC and the only word I have is - wow!

There is action and suspense right from the start, there’s no waiting 100 or so pages for it to start here. The slow burn and longing in this book is honestly *chefs kiss* and left me wanting more (please be a second book!)

K.R Blackwood has a wonderful talent for being so descriptive in her writing, but also makes it easy for the reader. For one of the first times I could keep up with names, places and world building because it wasn’t an overload on all them. This book is structured perfectly to give you exactly what you need and not over-confuse you.

I can’t wait to see where this story leads next!

This book is phenomenal. Thank you for the ARC ❤️

No spoilers :) but this is going to be hard to do without giving the game away!

Between my obsessive love of reading and an abundance of neurospicy-ness, I have the annoying skill of pattern recognition, meaning that I rarely read a book or watch a show without being able to predict the outcome. So when a book comes along that actually makes me gasp out loud, in public, with how good and unexpected the twist is, it automatically enters the Hall of Fame.

It is not until finishing this book that you really see the absolute genius of the story telling (I mean it's great before this, but my god will the last act come for your soul). I got emotional whiplash from reading the last 10 or so minutes of this book and I loved and hated every second. Well done KR, you made me cry in public, here is your bonus Gold Star as promised 🌟

Every character had depth and complexity which brought something to the story - there were characters that I loved then grew to hate as we see their true nature revealed (no spoilers!) and there were characters that I loved and continued to love (looking at you Declan). What I enjoyed the most about Eluvonia was that the relationship between our MCs reflected and questioned the wider relationships between the Fae and the Dragons. We feel the betrayal and lack of trust between the two at the start, then as the story progresses, we see them start to break down those barriers as secrets become uncovered and everything they know is called into question.

The development of our two MCs Aeris and Kaida was so interesting to follow - on the surface, if Declan is our Golden Retriever, Aeris and Kaida are the two black cats trying to kill each other with their stares from across the room - but as time goes on, we see the nuances and cracks in the masks as the three of them come together and their relationships deepen. This really is difficult to do without spoilers 😅

As for our antagonists - definitely no way of doing this without spoilers, so suffice to say they are excellent and not always what they seem. They are set up really well for the next part of the story - it's one of the things I am most looking forward to.

I LOVE knowing that this is the first in this series and that we will be exploring new realms as we go. The world building in Eluvonia was spot on - I never felt lost trying to figure out what was going on, nor completely overwhelmed with information - there was a really good balance of story telling and exposition from the start.

I am so looking forward to seeing where this story goes - honestly the cliffhanger we are left on is diabolical, I cannot wait.

In Eluvonia, the Fae and dragons lived peacefully until their realm was threatened and drastic measures were taken to protect them and they were torn apart by blame.
The world-building is impeccable, the character development is outstanding as well as the plot, that kept me intrigued from the first page to the last. There are lots of twists and turns that made me happy, throwing my hands in the air, screaming, mad and sad. We won’t talk about the sad tho!
There’s elemental magic, fae and shapeshifting dragons. Not only do we have a shapeshifting dragon but we have a shadow-daddy, shapeshifting dragon!! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and getting to know Aeris, Kaida and Declan and I’m already wanting book 2! I was a beta reader and an ARC reader for this book and I am leaving my review at my own will. I highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys reading fantasy.

4.5⭐️ “𝙄'𝙢 𝙙𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙖 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙪𝙣𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙛𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙙.” Same Aeris, same.. I feel like this quote is the perfect description for how I feel after finishing Eluvonia. 100% should not have read this while I was hungover because the ending had me crying like a baby (you know what you did… 😑) and it just made my headache worse.

My only reason for not giving this a full 5 stars is because around chapter 26 it started to feel rushed.. we were fast forwarding the timeline too quickly without key moments being put in place. It was like 1 second we were still enemies and then next thing I knew we were way more loving and there wasn’t anything that really happened to have that switch make sense.

Otherwise, I LOVED this book and will not rest easy till I have the 2nd book in my hands.

I kind of thought hard about this, because I really don't know. The book has potential, but I think the author needs to sit down with an editor (hell, I'll do it for free, I have nothing going on) and have them go through to fix some of the punctuation (possessives instead of plurals) and continuity errors (a paragraph that has both first person and third person, for example), in addition to a conversation about some phrases/language choices might need adjustment (example: "running on fumes" wouldn't make sense in her world because there aren't cars, and that phrase specifically originates from cars. Also something would have to run on fuel/fumes for the characters to understand that). Usually I'm not very picky about language use or turns of phrase, but sometimes it will stick out if I find that the author used a phrase that is specific to our world and wouldn't work in the world they have built.

The floundering with the maybe love triangle kind of took away from the relationship development with the MMC and FMC. I know it didn't end up mattering, but I think a line needed to be drawn to be specific about whether we're doing a love triangle or something is very platonic. It might have been a fun opportunity to create some asexual/aromantic rep to explain that different types of love exist. Declan can be affectionate and loving, but sexual/romantic attraction isn't something he feels. It can establish that there are several types of love, and not all love needs to result in a kind of love triangle.

The Big Betrayal(s) all felt like something closer to petty drama. A couple of them could be chalked up to petty drama because sometimes it be like that, though.

Spoiler (kind of a missed opportunity, I feel): Rather than have Declan and Kaida fly in to the execution and have the Commander announce the death of the king/his evil plans in front of everyone (were I in the crowd, I would give him a side-eye for this), Kaida and Declan could storm into his den/office thingy with the proof that she was set up, but he just picks it up, looks at it, then sets it on fire or something. This is when we get the whole "I wanted you to kill her, you weak idiot also the king is dead long live the king lmao" so that our villain moment is behind a closed door and we realize that there's nothing our protagonists can do when it would turn into their word against his. Why would anybody believe two clear Fae sympathizers? At this point, they're like "it doesn't matter! We're going to save her anyway!" and the Commander is like "oh the execution started early. She's probably dead by now". So not only has our villain moment become a "checkmate", but it was a deliberate distraction to keep them away from her. Drama intensifies. Reader is stressed. By the time they get to her, she's basically already dead.

And some more depth into the shared trauma of our two main characters (being a disappointment). I think some more conversations about that would have helped them find some mutual ground before things started to develop more. A sense of mutual understanding that can create a tentative ceasefire.

Otherwise, I really did like the world and how some things went down. I liked the sardonic undertone as well. The book was fun, and I can tell the author had fun writing it. I think she just needs to sit down with someone and work out a few kinks that I felt kind of held it back.

But also don't take my opinion very seriously because I'm a deeply unserious person and I, too, am a disappointment. Also if the author reads this: big love to your hard work and creating this world. I did enjoy myself. You can also use any of my ideas and I won't care.

Here I am once again.. a book with dragon shifters and my heart is in pieces again. Yall like to torture us dont cha? 😭😅 with that being said I devoured this book in one sitting did not stop until I was finished and wowwww! Magnificent to say the least. Let’s just say if you want some action and you want war look no further because this book has it and it comes out of the gate hitting hard. I mean around every corner we have some battles going on and it is perfection I stayed on the seat of my bed needing to know what would happen and who would win. We have the fae and we have the dragons. Which side will you choose? You’ll have to read to find out because I was spiraling trying to pick a side but then shiz hit the fan and all hell broke loose and welp both races have bigger fish to fry. Declan our golden dragon was like a breath of fresh air I love him so much. He did not disappoint with his commentary. We have our shadow commander/dragon and mmm yummy. He’s like a soft little cinnamon roll underneath when he blushes or gets flustered it’s the cutest thing ever, but he’s also not afraid to burn the world down for those he loves. And we have our girl Aeris she is an amazing FMC. She’s been beaten down, beaten and thrust into something she didn’t ask for and she handles it like a baddie, no matter how many times she’s beaten down she gets right back up. I am so excited to see where this story takes us next but for now I’m going to try to go heal my broken heart as I prepare for what comes next but please go read this book did I mention it was amazing? 🥰

*I was given this book as an eArc but my review is based solely on my own thoughts and opinions*

I wish there were more female characters that aren’t just evil haha. Also there’s no mention of Kaidas mom. They mentioned Declan’s but not his. I would also love more of a background on Declan “the golden prince” we only get snippets, how did he come to his power, what is he supposed to be doing during his day to day other then be charming. Is there gonna be a why choose moment with the 3 of them? God please don’t disappoint me and make it happen haha. Cause I’m down for that haha.

Sure it’s got parts and is reminiscent of other books but I don’t care! I was enthralled. I could not put it down and that’s all that matters.

There isn’t a driving force, for instance a bad guy, something they are working on together to do to drive the story along, a journey of such. It’s just building their relationships and seeing the destructions around them and people just hating on people but there has to be a purpose. You don’t get a reason until like 80% in.

I literally cannot wait for the next book and I pray to the author that you don’t do me dirty with a certain character because that ending, ugh 😩 😭

I give it a 4 for the story and book itself, there could be more background with a lot of characters however I’m gonna give it a 5 because I loved it and can’t put it down. I was drawn.

I got an advance copy of this book and I am giving my honest opinion. I am speechless. My brain chemistry has been altered. That has only happened a handful of times through my 100’s of titles read. It happened here. This book was done in such a way that had a complex magic system and world building but not in a way that was hard to understand or tedious and overwhelming. It was so easy to love characters (Declan) while wanting to hate others but holding out hope (Kaida). Not to mention how easy it was to hate the characters who were supposed to be hated. Our FMC Aeris a badass despite having so many difficult challenges and betrayals thrown her way. She truly never faltered when it would have been so much easier to do so. The enemies to lovers situation….. the slowest burn I’ve probably read in any book. It was awesome lol… the betrayals in the book along with the plot twists were excellent.

“I’m drowning, not in the sea but in the unbearable emptiness he left behind”

The ending was so absolutely devastating I cannot put it into words. So poetic but SHATTERED ME. And then it ended on a cliffhanger! I will be CHOMPING at the bit to find out what happened next. Did I mentioned I read this in a day? SO good.

Eluvonia is an epic high stakes fantasy romance debut about centuries-long war between fae and dragons, ancient lies, and a magical bond that could ignite the realms.

This book destroyed me in the best way possible. The world building and characters are deeply layered, the cinematic prose is emotionally compelling and puts you right in the story, and the plot twists continue to pull the rug out from under you. The romance is a true enemies to lovers between a fiery fae heroine who finds herself magically bonded to a broody, morally-gray dragon shifter. Aeris and Kaida’s story is filled with forced proximity, reluctant trust and slow burning tension you could cut with an arrow. One of my favorite characters ended up being a certain side character with golden retriever energy, endless humor and witty banter. His friendship with Aeris and Kaida created a balanced dynamic within their sunshine, fire and ice personalities.

I loved this book so much!! Thank you K. R. Blackwood for a copy of this ARC. I am unwell and in need of book two immediately.

This is a wonderfully written book that you can feel the heat from the flames and the destruction from the ensuing fights. I haven't decided who I like best between Declan and Kaida but I definitely like both of them. Their story is rich with war, betrayal and of course the center of it all is our FMC Aeris. I love the story that develops and the tension that grows between the group. A Fae's world torn apart because of dragons, a dragon forced into a bond with a fae... I love watching everything develop with them, especially Aeris's attitude. It's just pure gold especially when you add in the hilarity from Declan. If you're looking for a war torn world filled with dragons and fae, betrayal and some added humor in it I would recommend Eluvonia. The next book feels forever away but I can't wait for more.

I haven’t had a book that made me have stand, pace, rant to my inner voice council since Rebecca’s series The Empyrean. Had me talking to the book like they could hear me or something. The characters development in this book is absolutely incredible. I love the playful banter, the tension, the emotions of them just got me into hating characters so quickly. Blackwood you had me not wanting to finish the book because I want to continue hanging out with my pookie lol. ( btw that’s the MFC’s name from me) I can’t wait to get into the next book!!

If you want to know what happens when fae and dragons collide, then you definitely want to read this book.

While I don't want to give away any spoilers, I will say remember these two names: Aeris and Kaida. How I loved our FMC and MMC so much. She is the true definition of strength that you sometimes don't see in yourself. However she has an unwavering sense of determination that just pushes her to the top no matter what. Kaida is moody in all the best ways.

The world building alone in this book was so well written. I could literally visualize every aspect of Eluvonia. The writing was so descriptive that I literally felt like I could smell the scent of the landscape.

I love how the author took people from two different worlds and thrusted them into a situation that they just absolutely had to deal with. You could literally feel the tension betwen them in the beginning. However, the journey to discover things not only about themselves but about what was going on around them was a true pleasure to read. Books like this are why I truly love the fantasy world. I also love that the romance wasn't overdone in this book. Don't get me wrong, I love some spice, but I feel like in a lot of stories it's overdone and that becomes the main thing over the story. In this book what romance there was was a compliment to the story but we never lost sight of the main plot.

After reading this I definitely want to read more from this author.

⭐e-Arc Review⭐

Rating - 4.5

This debut fantasy is lush, immersive, and filled with rich worldbuilding and ancient fae vs dragon conflict. Aeris is a sharp, blunt heroine discovering truths that challenge everything she's known.

Kaida, the grumpy dragon shifter, brings guarded tension and layered emotion. Their slow-burn dynamic, full of mistrust and growth, keeps the pages turning. Declan's humor and loyalty lighten the darker moments beautifull

The writing is cinematic, making the world easy to picture and fall into. While there's little spice, the emotional depth and character arcs are strong. Some banter felt a touch long, but the pacing overall stayed tight and engaging.

Themes of identity, loyalty, and war are handled with heart. A strong start to a new fantasy series-I'm excited for book two already!

Thank you Author for giving me the opportunity to read this Arc.

2/5 spicy 🌶️ 🌶️

This book was so easy to get into, I had it finished within a day.

I love the character development that happens, the banter was amazing, the plot was a 10/10 for me, there was several funny moments, some truly heartbreaking ones too. This book has all the highs and lows but it was a very good read.

If you like fantasy this book is for you, it has dragons, magic, it’s a slow burn, there is some betrayal sprinkled in there too. I can’t wait to see what book 2 has to offer us.

Fea or Dragons? Which side are you choosing? Eluvonia is an exciting read that's left me wondering where my own loyalties lie. The magical world of Eluvonia is not just captivating—it's incredibly vivid. It felt as if I had stepped right into its lush forests or soared through its skies. I'm thoroughly enjoying the slow-burn romance and the found family dynamics that Aeris experiences throughout the story. I truly didn't want this book to come to an end, and I’m eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series. Secretly, I'm hoping it’s at least 500 pages long!

Eluvonia is packed with action! Who are the bad guys in this? The dragons? The fae? Both? Neither? Not knowing who is trustworthy, someone is always wanting you dead, keeps the reader engrossed til late in the night!
The ending is intense and gut-wrenching/heartbreaking but leaves you burning for the next one!

If you love a true enemies to lovers trope, fae, dragons, and elemental magic then this is right up your alley! Preorder now!

E-ARC read
A fantasy book that 100% did not disappoint!
Dragons shifters ✔️
Fae ✔️
Magic ✔️
Slow burn ✔️
Emotional rollercoaster ✔️

Eluvonia is written so well that I honestly sat down to read for an hour and lost track of time! The world building was descriptively pleasing without being overwhelming. And the plot was easy to follow whilst keeping me on my toes trying to anticipate the next twist (sorry no spoilers). There was banter, there was betrayals, there was rage and there was OMG moments that just… I can’t wait to continue the Rift of Ages series and see what happens next! 🖤

I had the pleasure of reading this arc sent by the author. It started off with a bang and didn’t let go until the very end. However, the ending does leave you wanting more. The writing was so beautiful that I felt immersed in the world. But most of all I loved the banter and the found family aspect of it. The dragons and the action made for a good entertaining time. I will definitely read more by this author in the future.

ARC Review:💜

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of the book and it didint disappoint. The banter in this book was spot on and had me kicking my little feet. Love me a good bit of banter.
The world building was really great with the writing capturing me into seeing, smelling, delving into the world which I absolutely loved.

I can’t wait to see where the story goes for the MCs and will definitely keep my eye on book two
