Westerns, Mysteries and Romance, OH MY! This one has it all! A Must Read!
This is the first book from Trana Mae Simmons that I have read. It was a delight and I look forward to reading more in this series.
"Town Social" is a Historical Western set in Liberty Flats, Texas. It's about Sunny Fannin and Jake Cameron. Sunny is a women who lost her mother within the last few months. She has moved to Texas to live with her mother's sister, Cassie, whom she has never met. Upon arriving, things in Liberty Flats is nothing what Sunny imagined it to be. One of the first people that she meets in Jake Cameron. Jake is a Texas Ranger who is currently the acting sheriff. He is a man biding his time before he can get back to rangering. From their first meeting there are sparks that seem to fly between them. Whether they are from her letting him know he isn't doing his job right or from what neither of them are looking for, they are there.
Many interesting things happen in Liberty. From a little girl being orphaned and taken in by Sunny to the past that Sunny was running from being presented before her. Jake always seems to be there. He is already set in his way and has no idea the storm that Sunny will bring to his life.
I fell in Love with all of the characters and the town right away. I could actually see myself living there and being a part of this crazy story.
Town Social is a great read for anyone who loves historical westerns with a little mystery added!

Sunny Fannin recently lost her mother and has moved to Texas from Missouri to get away from the memories. She moves in the her mother’s sister, Cassie, whom she’s never met. Cassie nor the town of Liberty Flats turn out to be like anything Sunny imagined. One of the first people she meets in Jake Cameron, Texas Ranger, who is also the acting sheriff. Sparks fly between them but secrets surrounding Sunny’s mother may tear them apart.
I really enjoyed Town Social. Sunny is a bit of a dreamer but she grew considerably during her stay in Liberty Flats and Teddy, the orphan she unofficially adopts, keeps her grounded. Speaking of Teddy, she’s not only a scene stealer but my favorite character. Poor Teddy suffered a lot prior to her father’s death but she never lost the wholesome goodness that little kids are known for. Her upbringing also made her extremely mature in many ways.
Jake is a Texas Ranger who is set in his ways but gets knocked on his butt by the force of nature that is Sunny. I loved that Jake was the first to crack and admitted his feelings for Sunny first. Jake is definitely a man’s man who is unbelievably gentle, loving and protective of Sunny.

On her first day in Liberty Flats, Texas, Sunny meets Ranger Jake. It's an annoying meeting on both sides. And that's how this romance starts.
Jake was ordered to take over the peace-keeping in Liberty Flats, and to stay until he can be replaced by someone else. He's itching to leave.
Sunny is looking for her never-met aunt, her deceased mother's sister, and the mystery surrounding Sunny's father. Her mother said that she was a widow, but no one knew who her husband had been. Sunny hopes to find answers to her questions in her mother's hometown, but only finds a bitter, close-mouthed hateful aunt. Who could have guessed that so many people in Liberty Flats were hiding secrets that had left their lives empty, and they all find love due to Sunny's persistence in looking for her father's identity.
Can a tumbleweed settle down in one place? Can a lost love be recovered? Can a city girl learn to love a desert town in Texas? I think you'll enjoy finding the answers to all these questions.

COMING BACK HOME
I enjoyed this historical western story that has several mysteries to be solved. What a great cast of characters, with angst, heartache, memories, finding new loves, learning what real love is and opening you heart and mind. The plot kept me captivated and the pages turning as the mystery of Sunny Fannin and her late mother, Samantha, unfolds. Sunny, who just lost her mother three months prior is so confused by her Aunt Cassie negative attitude towards her. Sunny and Ranger Jake Cameron have a love-hate relationship that at times is humorous and you want to knock their heads together. Sunny takes in Teddy, an orphaned child who craves love and affection but proves herself wise beyond her eight years. I found the dialog flowed well, was entertaining and heartwarming. I definitely will read more from Ms. Simmons. Disclosure: I received an e-copy of this book through eBook Discovery Read & Review Club in exchange for an honest review. I've said it before, but you just never know what you will get with a free kindle download sometimes! This book was a pleasant surprise. It had me laughing and kept me entertained throughout the book.

This is a wonderful sweet romance with a very realistic western setting. Excellent characterization and an intriguing plot keep you reading to the wonderfully satifying end.
