Ripped In Two

Reesa’s not looking for a relationship, she’s after for a killer. Sometimes, though, it’s easier to think outside the box when you don’t start inside it, and it’s not like he doesn’t have some involvement with these murders already. Jeff’s not bad to look at either, and he’s willing to settle for just going to lunch from time to time. That works for her. Then again, as many times as he’s been involved with the murders, maybe he’s the killer himself.Or maybe not.Of course, life would be so much easier if the star local TV crime scene reporter didn’t insist on putting her front and center all the time and sneering at the fruitless efforts of both the Tucson Police and Pima County Sheriff’s Departments. One way or another, Reesa won’t rest until the killer is brought in. Better if he’s a stranger, but if it’s this private eye who’s working to be her friend, so be it. Whoever it is will be going down.Bet on it.

A serial killer and a cop who’s determined to stop him. The romance between Reesa and her newfound love interest, Jeff, is overshadowed by her suspicions. More than once, he has had ties with the crimes she must investigate. Reesa finds herself torn between wanting to take down the killer once and for all and losing herself to her own vulnerability.

There was a lot going on in this story. On one hand you had a vicious serial killer seemingly picking his victims based on infidelity and on the other you have a delightful romance with a fickle female lead. There were a lot of ups and downs, a lot of moments where I wanted to grab Reesa and tell her to get her things together, but in the end, the twists were worth it. I loved that I wasn’t able to easily guess who the killer was. It made the book riveting up until the last page.

The main character in this novel is strong and reliable. Don't call her anything but Reesa if you know what's good for you. She'll assemble her gun in a flash and make sure you know who calls the shots. What a detective. But underneath lurks a sensitive woman longing for love. When she meets Jeff, her strict rules are turned on their ear. She can't even decide if she wants to keep up her guard when he's around. Together they face a killer of incredible stealth and imagination. No murder is carried out the same way, and one suspect comes up after the other, while the reader tries to solve the puzzle before the satisfying end, where we meet old friends.

Page Turner.

I would class this book's genre as a Thriller because it certainly thrilled me. Who is the villain that is doing all these killings? Detective Reesa Malloy is determined to hunt down the killer, but with so many obstacles getting in her way---Lynne Fox, the reporter from Channel 12 news being the main hindrance---Reesa hasn't a clue where to begin.
Jeff, a PI, has connections to a lot of these murders that are taken place; he also has taken an interest in Reesa. Eventually, Reesa and Jeff become friends and decide to work together to find the maniac, who by now, seems to be invisible.
Has Reesa put herself in harms way by letting Jeff in to her private space? Is he the killer?
With so many red herrings, this story will have you guessing until the very end.

After twists

A great book by A. J. Kohler. I have yet to read all of his other books but I did read " Repeat" So I was not sure what to expect in this novel, but the twists and turns certainly make a great read.

I really liked this book! This is the second book I've read by this author. He does his research. The story definitely kept my attention and I didn't want to put it down once I got it started! There was intensity and excitement. I enjoyed trying to figure out who the killer was....and didn't get it figured out until the author surprised me--exactly what I love in a good mystery! Oh, yes, there's a bit of romance in it.....just a "tease" but certainly gets your imagination going. There will be more books I'll read from this author! Well done!
