The Road to Masada

Rate this book
Imagine the impact Jesus would have made on your life had you actually met Him face to face. Spanning a period of 40 years, this novel weaves a tale around familiar names from Scripture, beginning at Christ's death, through the violently oppressive reigns of cruel and godless Roman emperors, to the dramatic conclusion at the battle of Masada.

This book spans an impressive range of events and incorporates a wide range of characters, but remains cohesive.

For a book titled Masada, only a small part of the book deals with the siege, which is a little disappointing.

The best and least "preachy" of his books. I might even be willing to read this one again some day.
When I say "least preachy", it's not because it doesn't contain sermons: as a story of men of the First Century church, it actually fit the narrative. The author's 20th C viewpoint colored the story... sut the story worked as more than just an excuse to expound on the author's pet theological interpretations, unlike in most of his other books.

Fictional story based on the events of Christ's crucifixion and how it may have influenced the lives of those who participated - Pilate, his wife, the guards. Interesting ideas but takes too long to get going.
