In Love With a Haunted House
The last thing Mallory Clark wants to do is move back home. She has no choice, though, since the company she worked for in Chicago has just downsized her, and everybody else. To make matters worse her fiance has broken their engagement, and her heart, leaving her hurting and scarred. When her mother tells her that the house she always coveted as a child, the once-famed Gray Oaks Manor, is not only on the market but selling for a song, it seems to Mallory that the best thing she could possibly do would be to put Chicago, and everything and everyone in it, behind her. Arriving back home she runs into gorgeous and mysterious Blake Hunter. Blake is new to town and like her he is interested in buying the crumbling old Victorian on the edge of the historic downtown center, although his reasons are his own. Blake is instantly intrigued by the flame-haired beauty with the fiery temper and the vulnerable expression in her eyes. He can feel the attraction between them and knows it is mutual, but he also knows that the last thing on earth he needs is to get involved with a woman determined to take away a house he has to have."

We have a down-on-her-luck heroine with a broken heart who is thrown together with her "hero" who both have a desire for a particularly charming little house... as well as each other. We also have a rather unlikely character...the ghost of an old lady who continues to be a meddler even from beyond the grave. She has her ghostly little hands smack-dab in the middle of their budding romance. The book isn't your usual ghost story...it's funny, sometimes hilarious, that will have you laughing when you least expect it. To begin with one of our main characters, Mallory is in depression because she is being abandoned by her longtime boyfriend. No big loss as far as I could see. Jim was a cowardly and cruel character that I hated from the start. He was a big, spoiled brat. Now we have a character we can like, and Mallory can love...Blake. He was the perfect distraction to help Mallory mend her broken heart. Blake was witty, charming, cute, and together their chemistry was off the charts. He is everything that Jim is not! of course, that wouldn't have taken much.... a sewer rat had more charm than Jim. Mallory easily falls in love with him. Ultimately, this can be described as a heartwarming story of family, history, finding real love, and finally coming home. Actually, I like the "little old lady" ghost more than either Malory or Blake. This is a perfect little gem that you don't have to devote many brain cells to in order to enjoy it.

I enjoyed In Love With A Haunted House on many levels. First off – you put Haunted in the title, and I am so gonna pick it up. Then there is the underlying, secondary love story of a forbidden love, a man who never returned from war and the woman who never stopped loving him or waiting for him to return to her until her dying day… and beyond. When you add to that an intriguing love story in the present with some secrets tossed in – yeah, this one had me good.
Mallory and Blake’s romance was completely believable. She had some really bad luck in the man she’d picked who turned out to be a jerk instead of a forever man. Yet as Mallory and Blake were trying to out outbid the other over a Victorian house for sale their friendship blossomed and slowly turned into a love story that could actually happen… and that always impresses me.
The ghost part of this romance often gave me a chuckle and maybe a wish that she would find her love and move on.
It’s not difficult to figure out Blake’s secrets, and I don’t believe they were intended to be hidden for very long. But they added a layer of interest and suspense to this love story that I enjoyed.
If you’re looking for a lighthearted love story with a cute, relatable couple – a ghost with more than a few secrets of her own – an oily villain you’ll love to hate – and the perfect ending then you’ll enjoy In Love With A Haunted House.
I read this story through my Kindle Unlimited subscription. For ten dollars a month you get access to thousands of really great stories across all genre, and the author gets paid for you reading the story through to the 100% mark. It’s a win-win. Probably the best 10 bucks I spend a month.

In Love with a Haunted House by Kate Goldman was sweet and funny. Mallory and Blake have an instant attraction. When Shannon passes away, she refuses to leave the house until her love’s spirit finds its way back to her. This makes for some funny episodes when the “house” decides it doesn’t like who enters it.
I give this book 4 stars for being so entertaining. I loved the story line. My only problem with the story was the grammatical errors. They did not take away from the story, just made some sentences hard to interpret. Overall, it was a very good story.

Please don't pay money for this book. At best it was a rough draft for a school assignment. It seems the author didn't even bother with spellcheck.
I did, however, give the book one star as the premise was intriguing. A real author, or perhaps even this one, could solidify this story into one that is truly magical.
I mourn for what could have been.
To the author: I encourage you to continue dreaming up such wonderful characters and stories. You would be a terrific asset to a collaborative project.

DNF. Just wasn't interested :( Maybe if it would've been a full length novel.

4.5 stars, rounded up.
I'm not going to do a so-called proper review but I will say that I absolutely loved this little story.
A sexy guy, a funny woman, an eccentric matchmaking ghost, and lots of humor. What's not to love?
And it's set in the South, obviously, where sweet tea is a staple. Or it is in my house anyway. :)
I'll be looking for more by this author for sure.

"How about some tea? I just made a fresh pitcher."
"I would love some. You didn't get converted to unsweet tea while you were up there in the North,
did you?"
Mallory laughed at that. "No. In fact it was this huge bone of contention between me and my ex.
He hated sweet tea, he thought it was disgusting and you know I grew up on it so I love it."

In Love With a Haunted House is a cute little love story that features a very haunted house. Gray Oaks Manor has just gone on the market. Mallory has just moved home after a bad breakup and losing her job. Blake has just moved to town to try to buy the house that his grandmother lived in so that he can somehow get to know the woman his family kept him from for his entire life.
The love story between Mallory and Blake is sweet, if a little bit predictable. In fact, that's how I'd describe the whole book. At 85 pages, there isn't a ton of time to delve deeply into the characters, and as a love story the ending is more or less a foregone conclusion.
So why did I rate this book four stars? Because despite this, it made me smile. A lot. Decently written and edited, it had all of the requisite features of a satisfying story. Smart heroine. Strong and smart hero who doesn't try to take over everything because he respects the heroine. A suitably evil foil character. And then there's the house. The house is haunted (of course), but the ghost who lives there is a sassy old bitty that you will fall in love with. She was my favorite character of the entire book.
Sure, twists and surprises are nice, but sometimes you want--no, you need--to read something that will make you smile. This short story will do that. Enjoyable from start to finish.

A charming, contemporary love story with a ghost that helps things along! In Love with a Haunted House by Kate Goldman is a short love story that begins with the female protagonist at the bottom of everything, and she has to go home and more or less start over, but Mom calls and tells her daughter, Mallory, that the 'haunted house' she loves has just been put up for sale. Mallory then begins to see a positive reason to go home. With the 'haunted house' for sale, more good things begin to happen for Mallory. A short and sweet light read that should lift one's spirits! Doesn't everyone love a good love and ghost story?!

In Love with a Haunted House was a sweet romance and funny. It was an easy, entertaining read even if the plot was predictable. Mallory and Blake meet when they both try to buy Gray Oaks Manor. Neither of them believe the rumors that the old house is haunted until the recently deceased previous owner makes her appearance.
This story made me smile and I liked the second romance plot line with the grandmotherly ghost.

Cute, but...
This story was cute, but the editing was terrible. There were a few passages that were difficult to understand and only by using sentences and paragraphs around them was I able to figure them out. Some of the dialogue and descriptions were rather simplistic and stilted. Despite this the story was cute and the romance was clean.
I received this book free from one of the book subscription emails.

This was a sweet story with some funny parts but the writing style really turned me off. It was more of telling me what was happening than showing me. I was told the characters were in love, but I couldn't see what led to that. I do think the plot was very cute but the storytelling needs to be reworked.

Haunted House meets couple that was meant for it.
I enjoyed the premise and the love stories. I didn't enjoy what too many errors. Wrong words in the wrong place, verbs in the wrong tenses...auto correct gone mad. Please fix the book!

Ok read. This was a very short book and I finished it in just over an hour. Because it's so short it felt rushed and undeveloped.

Cute story with humor. And ghost.

OK
The thing that drove me crazy reading this book was the bad editing job. If you're going to write for the public at flatbread it before it's published.

Cute read
I really liked this short read, it's funny and romantic. There is a few typos, but not enough to take away from the story.

Do you believe in ghosts? Mallory and Blake were not sure until Blake went skittering across the bedroom floor and ended up in a wardrobe. What made it worse was he couldn't get out; someone or something had locked the door. Then, Mallory heard the voice of the previous owner, who was deceased.
Mallory had left Chicago and her ex-fiancé to go back to her family home. The house next door was up for sale and, as it was reputed to be haunted, people thought she had lost her mind when she announced her intention to buy it. In walked Blake. He, too, wanted the house and was going to have it if it was the last he'd did.
"In Love With a Haunted House" by Kate Goldman, is a charming cozy mystery that had me laughing right out loud. A heartwarming love story written with love by Ms. Goldman. I gave this book 4 stars.

Very romantic.
I love it. I love Miss Lewis the ghost she has a dark sense of humor. Mallory she's a fighter and didn't have up until she and Blake got the house and Start a new family together. Jim got what he deserved hurting Mallory by breaking up with her and show in up at her home after a while. Blake got the house and the girl. What a awesome story. Two histories in one. Shannon ( the ghost baiting Gray Oaks, waiting for her True and eternal love) and George a soldier who died in the war. Mallory and Blake the joint couple the but the old Victorian house.

2.5 🌟 Very quick, sweet and clean read.
Insta love between two people vying for the chance to own a beautiful but run-down mansion.
Their romance is helped along by the matchmaking ghostly resident of the house.
Half a star removed for a severe lack of editing.
This is a clean romance with no descriptive love scenes.

Sweet
This was a very sweet, short little romance. I enjoyed it quite a bit. The characters were well developed for a short book and it had a great ending.
