I really loved how grounded and approachable this book is. It doesn’t preach or overwhelm — instead, it offers gentle guidance and real tools to bring calm into everyday life. The exercises are easy to follow, and I noticed a genuine difference in how I handle stress after just a week.

A fascinating read with tips for each room of the house, plus testimonials from those who claim the practice changed their lives: A new baby, a new job, new found wealth, miraculous healing! Eager to apply these techniques to my own life!
I have read lots recently on decluttering, but little on feng shui. I wanted to understand more on this and Kimberley delivered this in a mellow and positive way. I enjoyed learning about some of the theory behind this. While I won’t be adopting everything (I love every plant in my home and won’t be getting rid of family photos from their places or my garden pond that may be “stagnant water” teams with wildlife and energy) the notion of decluttering the house, getting fresh air in to the house (positive energy in, negative out), and reorienting some spaces makes sense to me.
A good start if you’re unfamiliar, although if you’re dipping your toe in to this subject, maybe check out her podcasts before buying the book to make sure it is for you.
Book Review: The Calm and Happy Home by Kimberley Gallagher
Rating: 4 Stars
I recently picked up The Calm and Happy Home: How to Bring Good Vibes into Your Home and Life by Kimberley Gallagher, and I have to say, it’s a refreshing take on creating a living space that truly supports your well-being. If you’ve ever stepped into a room that just felt right—calm, balanced, and uplifting—this book breaks down how to achieve that feeling through modern Feng Shui combined with neurodesign principles.
Gallagher does a great job simplifying what can sometimes seem like a complex ancient practice. Her approach is practical and accessible, offering straightforward tips that don’t require a big budget or tons of time. From decluttering with intention to clever storage solutions, she shows how even small changes can reduce stress and invite positive energy. What I appreciated most was the room-by-room advice, including thoughtful touches for kids’ spaces and considerations for neurodiverse individuals, which isn’t something you see in every Feng Shui book.
The book also dives into how the placement of everyday items—mirrors, plants, furniture—affects the energy flow in your home and even touches on attracting abundance, romance, or success by tweaking your environment. There are also real-life testimonials sprinkled throughout, which added an encouraging sense of authenticity.
On the aesthetic side, the cover is absolutely lovely—definitely eye-catching on my shelf! Whether you’re new to Feng Shui or have some experience, I think this book offers something valuable. It’s both inspiring and practical, and I’m eager to start applying some of these tips in my own home to see how they influence the vibe. My rating? A solid 4 stars. It’s an insightful read that left me feeling motivated but left me wanting just a bit more depth in some areas.
If you’re looking for a guide to help you create a more serene and positive home environment without feeling overwhelmed, The Calm and Happy Home is worth checking out.

This is a nice book that focuses mostly on feng shui. I had thought that it was a general decluttering and organizing book, but it is mainly an in depth feng shui book.
I found the parts about Chinese cycles and years particularly interesting, as I'd never heard of that aspect before. It's also just really nice advice for the home in general, and really in depth.
I would have appreciated photos, but I definitely got some interesting food for thought out of it nonetheless.
* Note: I read an advance digital ARC of it through Net Galley and then got an email from the publisher saying that the first ten reviews on Goodreads and Amazon would be rewarded with a physical copy in the mail. I reviewed it promptly on Amazon and sent her the URL to my review, and never heard from her again (I was the second review posted, and there was one here at that time). I posted an honest review with both positive and negative aspects in my opinion. I followed up and emailed her about it and she never replied. I have noticed many 5 star reviews on Amazon and Goodreads in the time since then. I have no idea if anyone at all got the promised copies, or if just the 5 star reviewers received copies (mine was 4, and I lowered it another because this all felt so shady).
This is a really special book - practical, effective and genuinely really interesting!! The book is a masterclass in Feng shui.
The contents are broken down into 3 parts. The first chapter is an introduction to fengshui. The second part (my favourite) is super practical and breaks down how to Feng shui your home room by room. Part 3 is all about the lifestyle, and includes some wonderful features as the declutter checklist.
This book is a keeper!! It is one I will dip in and out of, picking up pearls of wisdom as I go. I have learnt SO much from this book, and while I won't give spoilers I will say I am loving the secrets to wealth from the kitchen chapter!!
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
I found the info on feng shui and neurodiversity extremely interesting and enlightening. The information on Cycle 9 is vital. I found Chapter 15 Do’s and Don’ts Around the Home to be very helpful. And Chapter 17 Tips for Quick and Easy Fixes is just that. Even though I have a fair amount of feng shui knowledge I learned quite a bit from this book! I would definitely recommend to both beginners but also to those with a little more advanced knowledge.
If you know absolutely nothing about feng shui then this book is not a bad starting point. I personally found it a little too basic and I was already aware of lots of the tips given.
