Dating in your thirties in the big city can be hard--especially if you're a lesbian. Liz Coleman was just about to give up on love when a brainstorm hits--a mail order bride. The brainstorm turns out to be more than Liz bargained for when Svetlana arrives and utters those magical first words, "You are not man." Liz begins to wonder if the language barrier, complaints from her best friends Ann and Elle, and not to mention trouble with Homeland Security are worth what she thought would be the perfect solution to an age-old problem. Find out what happens in this fiendishly funny, warm romantic comedy!

Fun characters. Svetlana is officially my hero "“They want you to sing? You will fail. I have heard you in the shower. It is not good.”
Okay, the story is predictable but clearly the author has only used it as a structure around which she has weaved characters and dialogue that you cannot in some way identify with and enjoy the fun that this book is imbued with.
Prefect length for an instant hit of fun and joy - out there is the one, even if she's right under your nose.
Liz Coleman is a thirty-something, reasonably attractive lesbian ready to settle down with that special person. The only problem is that dating is hard and women are thin on the ground. After seeing the dubious example of her male landlord and his mail-order bride, and perhaps with a little liquid courage poured down her gullet, she buys a bride from Ukraine off the internet. All hell breaks loose - the bride is beautiful, functionally illiterate in English, and not at all expecting a women on the other side of the Atlantic.
This is a funny book, albeit it lost a star from me because I couldn't stop wincing. Wincing as in 55 pages of "oh my goodness, that is a terrible idea". It is sweet and strangely charming, but yeah.
I'd actually recommend this book, cautiously, to those who don't mind reading about terrible awkward life decisions. It's well written, and the path to true love is never smooth, right? Right.
I would say this is a quick fun read. It made me laugh. All of the characters are likable. Idk why, for some reason i really like Ann. She's funny, caring, adorable? and serious at the same time. I wish there are more about our main two characters after they get together. But yeah, still, i really enjoy this.
It was ok. I found it hard to connect with the characters and it was just far too farcical and yet not very amusing. Nice idea but just lacked some zing for me. I will still seek out some of her other books.
Liz Coleman is a thirty something, lonely and frustrated lesbian in the big city. Despite the encouragement, or perhaps because of, the encouragement of her equally frustrated two best friends, Ann and Elle, Liz is just about to give up. After one night of too much time spent fruitlssly browsing online personals and perhaps too much to drink, inspiration strikes and she purchases her bride Svetlana. Hilarity ensues with language barriers, disaproval from Ann, and even Homeland Security stand in the way of Liz and her path to romance. Mail Order Bride: A Romantic Comedy with a Lesbian Twist is a lighthearted, warm, and incredibly cheesy romance. The end is no surprise, but heartwarming just the same. It's a short read and brought a smile to my face.
Awww Liz is desperate for love and goes to extreme measures to find it.
This is a really good book! I enjoyed it very much. It is sweet, tender and romantic. I liked the ending. It tied everything up so nicely and left me happily contented. However, it is not the ending you might expect. Its better.
The story is well written, it flowed well with no major flaws.
I will be reading more from Ms. Windsor Thank you!
I thought this was a cute fast read I enjoyed some of the craziness of the characters and the friendship s they had laughing at a few places thinking I had the same convoy with a friend but neither of us order a bride lol over all I enjoyed the book for the way it was written cute and funny
I got wind of this author through a group page for lesbian fiction in (can I say Facebook?) anyway, I'm glad I did. A short and satisfying story of finding love and 'Mail order Brides'. There were lots of laugh out loud moments that kept me smiling while reading. I look forward to reading All of Ms. Windsor's other works.
This was very cute lesbian romantic comedy. It has a sweet heat level as there really isn't much romance. Maybe there will be a sequel where things heat up? I liked the humor. It was a quick read that left me with a smile.
I liked the premise, I thought it was promising. I was already anticipating the laughs that I would give with a premise like this. Until the end I was still anticipating - hoping for it. It never came.
The execution of the story and character development, needs just that - development.
Fun characters, light story. I thought Svetlana and Agata would be a nightmare but they turned out to be endearing. Nothing unpredictable but it really was amusing.
