**** 4 Dazzling Stars****

(ARC kindly provided by author)

This is my fourth book by Layla Hagen and I can honestly say she has a knack for writing romance. This story of opposites attract was completely addicting and very hard to put down.

 photo 9ae95371-ac15-4cf1-810d-dc1e0aafbc1f_zpsdjnc6rtg.jpg

Dani comes from a rich family but her parents don't pay too much attention to her, she might as well be another piece of furniture in their mansion. What love she lacks from her parents she gets plenty from her brother James. They have a very strong brother/sister relationship and it was one of my favorite things about this story.

On her last year as a high school student Dani meets Damon. He's the sexy bad boy who will come into her life and turn it completely upside down. More than good looks and enigmatic persona, Damon has a heart of gold and the truth is that just like Dani, he's lost in a sea of pain and neglect from his family.

Dani and Damon become friends, both trusting each other about their shortcomings. Quickly they realize that more than friends, they crave and lust for a romance that will prove to be the light, that guides them through the dark paths in their lives.

For Damon, being with Dani makes him want to be the best man he could be, but it's hard for him when his dad and her family are completely against their romance.

 photo image.jpg1_zpscbjkypzf.jpg

Both Damon and Dani need to battle with their insecurities before they can completely give into love. First love is always hard to forget but time will prove that in Damon and Dani's case, their first is their last and forever.

Each book in this series can be read as a standalone, but we do see the characters from previous stories making a appearance, and I loved having a look into their lives. It was exciting for me to learn more about their happiness. Caught in Us will fill your heart as you swoon for Damon and Dani's love story. Wonderful read!!

"I got my shit together, and I want you, Dani. I will accept nothing less. I will fight for it, and I won't play fair all the time. I need you." ~ Damon

Minor spoilers alert!!!

This was my first novel by Author, Layla Hagen, and I really wasn’t ready for it to end. I felt transported back to the high school and early college years of my life, only these were the ones that I never experienced. Quite simply, I wanted to BE Dani, and I had a blast experiencing all of those cool firsts with Damon. That feeling is incredibly addictive.

Dani is bit of a nerd and so is her bestie, Hazel. But Dani is also an affluent teenager with a warm and loving older brother named James who makes up for their two cold and distant parents. Enter bad boy Damon to shake up Dani’s world. In the process, they both come into their own and develop into strong and very likable new adults as circumstances challenge their relationship.

'The ground has been shaking beneath my feet since Mom died, and only regained balance when I met Dani. She makes me face my pain and fight it instead of masking it with anger.' ~ Damon

I was fascinated by Damon’s attachment to his mother, his method of earning money and then his ability to recognize when it was time to change his M.O. for the better. And I loved Dani’s relationship with her brother James. I had some serious brother envy going on while reading about the fun these two had together, seeing how they supported one another and reading the great advice James gave Dani.

"You will feel when it’s right. I’m not talking about those times when you’re both hot and bothered. Sex always seems like a good idea right then. I’m talking about moments when you’re talking, or you’re not even next to each other, but you think about him. If you’re ready for more, you’ll know it. If he’s the right guy, he’ll understand." ~ James

What else can I gush about? Well, I loved the banter between Dani and Damon, the pacing of their growing emotional and physical attachment and even the conflict that complicates their ability to be together. This is a mature young adult-new adult hybrid novel, and it’s one of the things I loved most about it. Teenagers having sex makes some people uncomfortable, but not this reader - especially not when it's done so well and fits the characters' story and evolution.

I loved that we got to see more than just the senior year in Dani and Damon’s lives. And even the supporting characters like Dani's parents and her friends Hazel and Chase go through some dramatic changes. I really didn’t want their story to be over. I actually exclaimed out loud in protest when I got to the last sentence. Fortunately, the epilogue gave us a nice look into their HEA future, a small consolation because all good things must come to an end eventually.

I savored Caught in Us, and I look forward to reading any future title of Layla Hagen's that has an intriguing synopsis. She certainly knows how to deliver!

☆ I received an ARC via the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!! ☆

A good girl meets bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks type of story.

Caught in Us is the third book in the Lost series and can be read as a standalone.

There's a lot of growth, heartbreak, and angst in here centering around broken pasts and tragic events.

One thing I liked was that the two main protagonists' relationship was not rushed. It gradually progressed from friendship to something more and allowed them to heal and find themselves and each other.

I also liked that we got to see some of the previous characters still involved and to see where they were at in their lives. It was like a mix of learning old and new.

As a whole, great story!!

~ 5 Outstanding Stars ~

Caught in Us was just what I was looking for. This book was AMAZING. It had everything I look for in a 5 star read. It had a wonderful love story, sexy times, a little suspense, some family drama, and the best ending I could've hoped for.

I have read and LOVED every book Layla Hagen has written and Caught in Us was no different. her writing style sucks me in every time. I love her story lines, and the characters she creates. She has the great ability to create characters who you just grow to love and can't help but feel a part of their lives. Being that this is the third book in her Lost Series, I am sad to see this series end. These characters will live on in me for a long time to come. This story is told in some Dual POV. We get mostly Dani's POV but she does throw Damon's POV in quite a few chapters. This is a fun, sweet and sexy read that was a fairly quick read. Like I stated earlier there is a little drama, but nothing over the top and she added an element of suspense to keep you turning the pages.

I loved how she created Dani and Damon's story and how it all unfolded. This story is told over the course of a couple years. It starts out when Dani and Damon are in high school and Damon is a transfer student at Dani's school. Damon was a bad boy to the core and to say they have a rocky start is an understatement….although I did love their banter….it had me laughing a few times. Their friendship/relationship slowly grows over the first half of the book and then the family drama kicks in and forces Dani and Damon to separate. A year passes and they are reunited. This being their freshman year in college. They both attend Stanford. From here we get their sweet love story and the suspense of the storyline. I absolutely loved both Dani and Damon. They were as opposite as two people could be, but truly brought out the best in each other. They knew how to showcase each others strengths.

Another thing I loved about this book, was how Layla incorporated the other characters from the other two books into this story. We kind of got the back story because this book starts before James has met Serena and Parker had met Jessica. But then how she tells the story we also got to see where these two couples end up and what they have been up to since their books. It was just a really interesting way of telling this story and I loved it!!!!

Caught in Us is a third book to a series, but can be read as a stand alone. Being the way the author wrote this book, you really don't even need to read the first two books before reading this one. I would suggest it, but it is not necessary. This book does have a HEA and it wrapped up this series very nicely!!!

I would 100% recommend this book/series and author to anyone who hasn't read any of Layla Hagen's books. Her stories will suck you in and leave you smiling in the end. Pick up one of her books today….you won't be sorry!!!!

I loved this story! I was sucked in from the very beginning and couldn’t put this book down! I fell in love with Damon and Dani. I absolutely love their characters and their story. I love how this book went back to their first meeting and worked its way forward, intertwining characters from the first two books. Damon had such strong character and a loving, caring heart for Dani, despite all of his trials and people that were against him. I appreciate his strength and determination to make himself worthy of the woman he loved. This book left me with a smile on my face and joy in my heart. It was truly a pleasure to read this story. I highly recommend this book and this author. I love all that she writes.

This was a good read. Damon is new to the school and when he firsts meets Dani things were interesting. They became close quickly. The problem is that the parents aren't happy. Things get complicated but in the end they finally get their happy ending.

Caught in Us is a beautifully inspiring and utterly ravishing journey of allowing the light of hope and love to not only surround but penetrate the broken and hurting hearts of those that are living in darkness. Even those who find themselves wandering in the fringes of the gray areas between light and dark can choose to have the sun warm their face once again. There is never a shortage of hope when love is allowed to break through the impenetrable barriers around your heart. Never turn away from the most precious things in life because they could easily be the very things that could save you.

Dani would seem to have the perfect life with her rich family, good grades, and bright future, but how often are those who seem to have everything really have nothing when they take a closer look? She finds the one things she desperately longs for in the new boy at school. Until Damon came along, she never realized just how empty her life was without the simple and pure love that he offers her. Even with the demons that Damon wrestles with, Dani can see the good and beauty in him no matter how worthless he thinks he is. She breathes life and hope into his grieving and broken heart. No matter how much he knows he should stay away from her to keep from dragging her down, his heart won’t let him walk away. She comes to mean everything to him, and he won’t turn his back on her. Will these two lonely souls find a way to stay together in order to heal each other, or will their choice be taken away in the name of doing what’s best for them?

I absolutely fell in love with Dani and Damon throughout their story. They found their completion in the other, and they cherished the precious bond that they were building day after day. It was so wonderful to see how Damon treated Dani with such a depth of love, respect, and kindness in every way possible. He made her laugh, built up her confidence, and made sure she knew that he really saw her. While he couldn’t look into her soul or read her mind, he could tell what she needed and he gave it to her. Dani knew without a doubt that Damon cared about her, cherished their friendship, and did his best to protect her from himself and others that might try to hurt her. They were such an amazing couple whose miraculous love literally took my breath away.

Layla Hagen has a tremendously incredible talent of opening your heart to her wonderful characters from the very first word. You feel every written word as if it originated from the beating of your own heart. The pace of her story is so natural and beautifully fluid, and the storyline will remain with you long after the last word has been read. This is one author that is not to be missed. The soul that is found within these pages will touch you like nothing else can. I challenge you to walk away from her books and not feel the light, hear the passion, and experience a one-of-a-kind love.

Early this year I read Withering Hope by Layla Hagen and fell in love with it! So when I was contacted with a chance to review another book by the same author, I jumped at it! Caught in Us is the third in a series that I haven't read, but it can also be read as a standalone new adult love story.

Dani and Damon are the two main characters of this romance and the setup is a familiar one: good girl meets bad boy. To be honest, my initial thought was that this was Beautiful Disaster (which I despised) done right! While Damon is a bad boy, he isn't a jerk and he treats people, including Dani, with decency. I really liked both these characters! Dani wasn't "too" good to the point where it was annoying and I was able to easily sympathize with her difficult home life. Damon also had a really rough background that made his situation believable. I also enjoyed the secondary characters, especially James! I think I'd like to have a big brother like him.

The story is really broken into two parts - high school and college. Shockingly, I really enjoyed the high school parts best. It didn't actually feel like high school to me, but maybe that's just because I was extremely sheltered and didn't even date when I was Dani's age. Either way, I loved the forbidden romance story conveyed in the first part of the book.

The second half was where it started to unravel a little for me. If there's one thing I cannot stand, it's a character making the decision about what's best for the other on their own. Breakups "because it's better for you" really get under my skin. But I digress. A villain is also a big part of the second half and it honestly just felt unnecessary. It was a great story even without the added drama of the bad guy. Still, it all worked out in the end and I did like the way everything came together.

But my biggest issue with Caught in Us was the dialogue. As I've said already, I really enjoyed the other book I read by Layla Hagen! But the dialogue here was just... off. It was almost too formal and I found it really unbelievable that anyone actually talked that way.

Overall, this was a good story. I didn't love it nearly as much as I loved Withering Hope, but survival stories are probably more my thing. I'd definitely recommend this to fans of contemporary romance!

This story reads like a fairy tale. There is just this overall happy, feel good glow around it, that pretty much makes you grin the entire time. Even the drama doesn’t feel that negative, or it’s turned around so fast it doesn’t leave a bad impression.

Dani and Damon meet in senior year of high school. He’s a new transfer student, and in typical bad boy behaviour, he’s mad at the world. Resulting in rude behaviour, arrogance, and of course overall appeal to teenage girls. It was never Dani’s attention to catch his interest, but things just never turn out the way you expect.

She quickly realizes that Damon is not that bad, he just has a chip on his shoulder. With her he’s actually quite sweet and gentle. It doesn’t take long for these two lovebirds to be head over heels with each other.

Only the parents don’t think it’s such a good idea for them to hang out together, thus the drama. The road to happiness isn’t an easy one, and it will take some time and dedication for thing to truly work out.

There are not a lot of surprises in this book, though I enjoyed it. With Damon’s past and attitude, and Dani’s estranged parents, there is some depth, but just don’t look to deep. The ending is almost over the top happy, ’cause it all just works out so perfectly. A fast and fun read, with a very positive outlook on life and love.

This was a story that I really enjoyed. The characters and the storyline was great. Though this is the third book in the series, it can be read as a standalone since each book focused on different couples. This is Dani’s and Damon’s story.

Dani is the shy good girl. She doesn’t get into trouble and is very smart. Damon is the bad boy. After suffering a tragedy, he comes to California and is determined to make enemies. However, he wasn’t counting on Dani. I loved their first meeting. Dani was not afraid to tell him what was up. A sort of friendship develops until it turns into a real one and then more. I loved how Layla showed us the progression of their relationship. It went from a sweet, young love to a mature, sexy relationship. The chemistry between Dani and Damon was hot. They seemed to fit each other perfect. Layla does throw in some angst and suspense but not too much. And I liked that. She was able to show us how Dani and Damon grew individually and how they fought for each other. To me, that was the primary focus of their story and I truly enjoyed that. I was able to feel the emotions and reality of this story. Though I have not read all the books in the series, that did not diminish my appreciation for this book. Overall, a great story that will have you believing in true love.

I really enjoyed this read the characters each have their own issues which is tearing them down. If you put these two characters together they complete each other. Those around them cannot see this and do their best to tear them apart. This is a very touching and at times an emotional read. The author puts tons of humor which will keep you smiling as the smart mouth teens let their mouth overtake their brains with each other and their parents. This is Dani and Damon story of overcoming the odds, finding their way, doing what is best even if it means they will not be together. Each are on a downward spiral, they say once you hit rock bottom the only way is to go up. These two have hit bottom but doesn’t look like they will be climbing up anytime soon. At times this is a very hot and steamy read for me it was much more than that it was a soul search, reaching out for help, working to a common goal, loving and losing it in hopes to get that love back. The author gives you a story of broken hearts, growth as they find their way from tragic events that made them buck the system.

My heart really went out to Dani nothing is worse than feeling like you are not loved or wanted. I totally loved her smart mouth as she tells it like it is with everyone but her parents. When she grows some balls and laid into them I was cheering her on. As she brought Damon down a peg or two I laughed myself silly. This is a girl after my own heart for standing up for herself, taking a chance and finding her way. She may be on the mouthy side but you can see she really cares about those around her. She is a very smart, wealthy young lady but she never comes across that way. At times why reading this I was surprised when the author would bring up that she had money. I knew she did but in the way the author writes this you just over look that. She is very much a character you can relate to. I am guessing most of us have had a relationship that our parents were against and tried their best to break it up. Which just pushes us closer to the one they do not like. Even with Damon’s tough bad boy ways she saw the good in him and did her best to bring out his best side. Dani and Damon friendship starts out rocky but soon builds into a budding friendship which moves on to more. They seem to have the whole world against them from the teachers to their parents and just about everyone in between. You just know Dani’s heart is going to get broken, the question is how will she deal with this and will love overcome all to make this a love of a lifetime?

I am no different than most of you I do love a bad boy the pull to them is like the pull to a drug addict. Damon life just fell apart in the worse way, he is now living with a man he never knew that is his father. He hates him for the way he did his mother so he hits back the only way he knows. This is a boy who is a ticking time bomb, when he finally blows everyone around him will feel it. He hates the world and just wants to take it out on anyone and everyone. He comes into school the first day throws his tempter around with insults to everyone. There is one girl that calls him out, just who does she think she is? What he finds out is he enjoys matching wits with her. He just loves pulling one over on her yep she is the nerdy girl but wow what a girl she is. When she gets typed tied at text messaging he laughs out loud. The girl herself rereads and just hangs her head wishing for the world to close around her just to funny. Yep this is one girl that has his interest in a big way. He knows he is hitting rock bottom as well as he isn’t good enough for her. He tries his best to tell her as well as show her all the time hoping she doesn’t walk away. She brings out the best in him giving him a reason to go on trying to better his self. I loved how Damon waited until Dani was ready. How tender he was with her making her first time a wonderful pleasure for many more to come. With everyone trying to tear them apart it looks like they might win with him losing the best thing that has ever happen to him. Can he hold on or will his world tumble out of control, he can’t take much more, which way was up again?

It did take me a little while to get into to this story but once I did I could not put it down. I loved the humor as I laughed and then my heart broke for these two. Nothing is worse than having the person you love torn from you even knowing you must pull yourself together and turn your life around doesn’t help. I would say there are many Dani and Damon in this world but I doubt they are well to do or even come out ahead. I didn’t care to much for Dani parents I just to not understand how parents can treat a child the way they did her. I do have to say they do grow on you as they are taught a lesson in life. This story has a lot of ups and downs before anyone can find a HEA they must work through the mess that their life is. This is a story of change overcoming your past and making your life better. Sometimes you must walk the road alone before you can find the one person that gives your life meaning. I have to take my hat off to Damon for being a man not only standing up and telling it like it is (even if it wasn’t in the best way) to knowing he had to work out a few issues his self. It made the read that much sweeter. I totally loved the ending and how protective Dani brother was that he was always there for her. There is so much meaning to this story that even a teen would take something good way with them after reading it. Not saying a teen should read it…..

I would have liked to have seen more of Damon’s father why he was the way he was. I think he grew to love his son but the author never really tells us this. He just is cut out of the story with I see him from time to time. I would have like to have read just how Dani repelled and hit back for the wrong she felt was done to her. Looking back over the story I think these was the only thing that I felt the author didn’t give completion to.

The author gives a lot of time and thought into the plot as she spins a compelling story that will hold your interest. She gives you characters you can relate to with today issues and helps them find away to deal and grow. She shows how teen hit out trying to find their way in a world that is spinning out of control. How parents deal with it and how the child reacts, the pull of control between child and parent. The author really out did herself in this area hitting each issues right on the money. I thought the author gives a wonderful story that you will fall in love with. One that will touch your heart and at times break it but gives you the thrill and excitement along with some hot steamy passion. This is just a wonderful soul searching read that you will enjoy as the author takes you on a trip from young love to adult love and all the trying times in between.

ARC kindly provided for an honest review.

This is one series that will definitely be engraved in my heart forever. It touched me deeply that words can't be enough to describe my feelings while reading each book and even long after I was done reading. My heart was continuously swooning and melting because the guys were so romantic. But it also broke with every trials each couple faced.

Caught in Us is the third installment in this amazing series. Each book can be read as a standalone having different couples. But to fully enjoy this series, one has to read each book in order. I can vouch that all are equally amazing and beautifully written. I had a hard time putting them down because I just could not get enough of the story. It was so easy to fall in love with the characters.

I have always loved young adult books and Caught in Us really captivated my heart. It touched me deeply. I love how Damon and Dani met and fell in love. Both struggling with their own lives at home. Damon, suffering from the loss of his mother, was forced to live with his father whom he just met. Both were bound by his father's promise to his mom to take care of him after she dies. Damon felt no love from his father and no sense of belonging. Earning a living at an early age to support himself and his sick mom, made him independent and strong but calloused. He never let somebody in until he met Dani and fell in love with her. He felt so loved and accepted for who he was. It was only with Dani that he felt alive and was determined to change for the better to be worthy of Dani's love.

Dani was also longing to be loved and be given attention by her parents. It was only her brother among her family who loves and cares for her. Good thing she has her brother and her best friend to fill in the love she never felt from her parents. Until she met and fell in love Damon. It was not love at first sight. In fact they clashed at first. But their paths always crossed that eventually led to a mutual attraction and further blossomed into relationship forbidden by Damon's father and Dani's parents. The love they felt for each other was so strong that even tested by separation, it still prevailed in the end. If two people are destined to be together forever, love will find a way to bring them back in each others arms.

My heart broke in Lost in Us when James and Serena broke up. But I wasn't prepared for my heart to be crushed in this book. I was devastated with the turn of events. There was a tightness in my chest that I had to pause and compose myself. I felt the pain Damon and Dani felt. I knew something would come up that would test their strong bond. Well maybe it was what they both needed because it made Damon strive and determined to change for Dani. He made a promise which he was able to fulfill that brought them back together.

Lives were changed because of the separation. Relationships were restored. New friendships were made. Promises were fulfilled and dreams were realized. It was a perfect ending to a beautiful series. I have learned a lot from this amazing book. Everybody can change for the better. Everybody is entitled to second chances and finding ones happily ever after. The greatest of all is Love. It changes a person. A must read for all book lovers.

I give this amazing book a well deserved 5 Star Rating

I don't know how Layla Hagen manages to write stories that feels like they are part of me, but I hope she doesn't stop. Caught In Us is enthralling, sweet, and heartbreaking all rolled into one.

I didn't know what to expect from this book while it was still in the works. The author never gave a hint about how the story will go. Right from the start Dani was a mystery to me, and the anticipation of her story intensified when we got a hint of who might have stole her heart in Found In Us.

Dani Cohen is a character that burrowed herself deep in my heart. I felt her pain and her longing for that feeling of being a part of a family in every word. I felt her kindness and innocence whenever she interacted with Damon. I felt everything she felt throughout the book, but what struck me the most was her struggle in being acknowledged by her parents. I can't relate to her on a personal level, but I still felt her. I liked it that despite all the things that is lacking in her life, she had a backbone and a fighting spirit.

Damon (oops, sorry, I can't remember his last name!) has been the most mysterious character, but I like it that he didn't feel like a stranger when I started reading. He has issues with himself, and some of them stemmed from his father being absent most of his life. Despite his tough exterior, he's harboring a gentle heart. He once said that Dani was his breath of fresh air, and to my delight those weren't just empty words. I saw the proof of those words in his POV.

Seeing the way their story unfolded made me feel like I was getting to know new friends. It felt like I was there with them without feeling like I was either of them. I loved how Layla Hagen executed their story spanning from high school through their happily-ever-after without giving the story a slow pace. There wasn't a dragging moment in this book. I read their whole life together without getting impatient. It's brilliant, really. I relished every moment, every word.

I also loved it that although this is Dani and Damon's story, I got to see another story unfolding before my eyes without feeling as if the focus is shifting from D&D. Hazel and Chase are such lovable characters, and even though I only saw a few glimpses of their story I felt like I knew every bit of it. I don't know how Layla Hagen squeezed several years' worth of Dani and Damon's story but still managed to add a second love story in this book without it feeling overloaded or dragging, but it was brilliant.

Oh, wait a moment. Have I mentioned that I've fallen in love with James all over again in this book? No? Well, I HAVE! He's just amazing! If I can't have James, then I'd at least want him to be my brother.

I don't say this very often, but I wish I could read Caught In Us again for the very first time. Dani and Damon's story is something that I want to experience over and over again.

This is the fourth book I have read by Layla Hagen and each book is better than the one before, both in technical writing and in storyline. Her last book, Withering Hope, just about broke me. I am glad that Caught in Us is a bit lighter in tone but not without suspense in its own right. I have loved past books in this series by Ms. Hagen, but this is my favorite. I will forever be a sucker for a bad boy. Being married to a reformed bad boy, first hand experience has shown me that they often become the best men. Damon is one of my favorite book bad boys. He has every right to act out given his tragic past and the loss of his mother. Thrown together with the father that was absent from his past gives Damon the proper fuel for his anger and behavior.

Dani may have been born into a privileged family but her home life is less than ideal. Her parents live in the same house but have little to do with her and less to do with each other. Her only salvation is her brother James and her friendship with Hazel. As soon as Damon appears at Dani's school, sparks fly. He is rude, arrogant and brutally handsome. The draw between the two is immediate and explosive, even if early encounters were not exactly positive. After they get past those first awkward encounters the couple become quite close until Damon's past runs headlong into his past. The parents then step in and push the couple apart, causing major changes in both Dani and Damon. The past causes trouble for the couple and adds to the intrigue of the story.

Dani relies on her best friend Hazel and after a separation after high school they are reunited in college. Much to her surprise, her favorite bad boy is enrolled there too. The minor characters (who should have their own story, perhaps) are well written and the kind of friends that anyone would want to have. I love Hazel and Chase and their awkward relationship. Hazel is a fierce friend to Dani and isn't above pushing her to get real with her feelings. The banter between the characters if witty, fun, and sexy as sin between Damon and Dani. Bad boys change for the right woman and Damon is proof that love can conquer a lot of pain and loss.

I like the progression this author has made since the first book of hers I read. Her characters are well developed and I love that James and Serena make an appearance before their wedding. The story is well told and well paced. I look forward to the next book from Ms. Hagen. She has never let me down with any of her books and love watching new authors find their style and voice.

Did not finish at page 28. This book writes like it was written by a 15 year old. There isn't any depth. We have the lead female Dani. And like in hundreds of other romance novels before it, dani has her panties all in a twist when she first meets the love interest, Damon. She lectures him and sounds like the most annoying prude ever. And OF COURSE Damon finds this charming somehow. I mean, is it too much to ask an author to come up with a lead female who is funny and awesome. One who, when the lead male antagonizes her she laughs or says something witty or clever. Heaven forbid we have a female who can come up with original comebacks and interesting conversations. Something that makes them stand out. Something that isn't just rude and lame. Damon being interested in someone like her is way too far fetched for me. I get the whole thing where guys tend to like girls who act aloof and uninterested and that's fine it's just that this girl isn't like that really. She just doesn't do it for me. The writing is too abrupt and I'm not pulled into the story at all. It isn't horrible, I'd just say it's more for like tweens and very young teens, like under 16. At least, what I read is. I'm not sure if there is anything inappropriate later in the book that makes it more of a young adult but to me this was reading like juvenile fiction. I read mostly young adult books but this one I just couldn't get into.

“It’d be a shame to graduate high school with the good girl stamp on our foreheads. Every girl worth her salt must break some rules. The best rules are broken with bad boys.”

“That was a swoon worthy love declaration… If you haven’t told all of this to Dani, I will chase you with a gun.”

My Review:

Caught in Us was a fun read and far less angsty than the first two books of this series. While there were still periods of conflict and heartbreak, the overall feel was a sweet love story that began in high school and renews itself during college. Caught in Us is a stand-alone story although I enjoyed additional glimpses of the characters from previous books. Layla Hagen’s writing is always entertaining, engaging, thoughtful, and delightfully steamy. And who doesn’t enjoy a good girl/bad boy story?

ARC given in exchange for an honest review

I really enjoyed this story. The author does it again with this book, making another amazing great story. I haven't read all the books in this series, however the previous book & this one I have. I am so happy that I read this book. The emotions are real and you will have some laughs. The chemistry between Dani & Damon is hot and steamy. The love that you feel will touch your heart. It's really a heart felt story that will stick with you. It touches a deep place in your heart and sticks with you.

Dani meets Damon in highschool and was told to stay away from him. The more the two hang out, the more they get to know each other. Everything seems to go well until one night.....

You'll have to read the book to know what happens. You won't regret reading the story. I highly recommend this book. Great job to the author on another amazing book.

I'm not good at typing reviews, but this was my favorite of the trilogy. If you enjoyed the first two books I think you'll really like this one!

On the surface, Dani should want for anything. She comes from a wealthy family, does well in school and has a bright future ahead of her. But not everything's as it seems. Although she's not unhappy, she wouldn't mind a change. She's tired of not being 'seen', of not being a 'normal' teenager. Until Damon transfers to her school. And he's everywhere--in her classes, in her lunch spot, in he thoughts and ultimately in her heart.

Damon is not one for relationships. He's a loner looking forward to the day he can leave his father behind to live his own life. Starting a new school in the middle of term is not exactly his idea of a good time, but meeting Dani changes all that.

Dani and Damon start an unlikely friendship that soon becomes more. But with family members making decisions in Dani and Damon's lives, will they ever have a chance to be together?

As a follower of the series, I was always curious about Dani and having her as a secondary character in the previous book only served to increase my curiosity about her. So of course, when the chance came to read her story I jumped ahead right away.

I wouldn't say that I loved this story, but I did like it a hell of a lot. My favorite element was the connection between Dani and Damon. That first part of the book where the author delves into their first meeting and their time spent as teenagers made for a fantastic read. I enjoyed all the little intricacies that came with Dani and Damon discovering their first love. The awkwardness, the flirty banter and the good-natured bickering all cemented the fact that these two had something real. It made their journey from friends to lovers all that much more enjoyable. Needless to say that their separation at the time was heartbreaking to experience. However, I couldn't wait to see what was in store for them in the future.

Fast forward to the present and we find Dani and Damon back stateside and attending the same university. And here's where things went a bit south for me. I was glad to have Dani and Damon together once again, but felt like it was too easy for them to pick up where they had left off. I understood their loyalty for each other, but found it unlikely that they did not take their time in getting back together. Fortunately, I soon came to overlook that fact and settled in to enjoy their story.

How could I not? Dani and Damon's connection continued to grow and their chemistry took a turn for the sizzling. Now that they were older and Dani was more curious about exploring that side of their relationship, each and every one of their encounters felt more potent. Sign me up, I was on for the ride!

Unfortunately, in the midst of their reunion the author decided to throw them an obstacle. In my opinion, that added conflict wasn't a necessary element for their story to be complete. Maybe if it wouldn't have been resolved so easily, I could have come to accept it. Alas, it wasn't so. In fact, I would have been content with them facing another challenge or even having a chance to explore more about Hazel's love interest.

Although this is the third book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone. However, I would recommend reading at least the previous book so you can get to know more about Dani.

All in all, I've come to enjoy the mix of stories, characters and elements Layla Hagen has delivered in the Lost series thus far. Now to wait for Hazel's story. *hint, hint*

*I received a copy of this title in exchange of my honest opinion.

First love always feels perfect. That's what I got from reading this beautifully written romance. It's sweet, endearing, also funny and definitely sexy. The heartfelt words painted the story in a fresh, slow-burning arc that completely enthralled me.

At first, the characters seem to collide against each other, but then they are drawn to each other's qualities. They heal and inspire. Dani is a warm, lonely, smart girl whose gentle smile is exactly what calms the poisonous anger that boils inside Damon. I really liked their conversations where they learn about their mutual strengths and weaknesses. The romance that blossoms between them is just so pretty, yet also extremely sensual.

I loved how things escalated becoming reckless and daringly romantic. Both characters evolve in transcending ways because of their time together. I relished those changes, the way they love each other, the unfair and painful wreck their relationship ends up being. Both the drama and the romance was engaging and poignant.

I enjoyed the second chance at love as much as the gentle, arousing passion. With a final part that brings about warmth, smiles, sighs, tension, and contentment in equal doses, I can only conclude that Caught in Us is a beautiful, sweet, and refreshing addition to a series that never disappoints.

It was great to reacquaint myself with the characters from the previous two books, and I'd love to read Hazel's story too. I was even sorry for the bad guy who also happens to have a reason for his torn, black heart. Besides the whole story, I'll take with me one particular visit to a chocolate factory that... OMG! I wish I could reproduce it myself ;-)

Favourite quote:
There is an insatiable craving inside of me for him. It consumes me permanently, but roars louder and more demanding when he's nearby.

For somewhat bizarre reasons, which I’m not at liberty to tell, I was recently stuck in a plane to Cyprus only to hop back on a plane home within two hours of landing. What’s the best possible way to handle such a day? A good book that is easy to read, doesn’t require much concentration, but just entertains. Caught in Us is such a book. I was a bit concerned at the start as Dani and Damon were just high school seniors and I’m not into teenage angst stories. I probably shouldn’t be so prejudiced as the first half of the book set up the second half (and conclusion) perfectly.

Having read the entire Lost series, I was anxious to get my hands on Dani’s story. She was mentioned sporadically throughout the previous two books. I was quite surprised by Dani. I remember her most from Found in Us and was expecting a rebel. Dani was anything but a rebel. In fact if you look up good girl in the dictionary, you’ll probably find her picture. Damon was, at the start, the perfect likeness for the misunderstand bad boy. Hagan doesn’t lead us down the typical bad boy novel road, however. I do so love romance novels in which the man knows what he wants from the start. I abhor wishy washy men who decide to break a girl’s heart because he’s just not good enough for her. Thankfully, Hagan avoided those traps. I also enjoyed the character growth of Dani’s parents. It was a nice addition to the story.

Although Lost in Us is still my favorite of the series, I’d recommend any of the three books, including Caught in Us, to anyone looking for a romance to read.

I received an ARC via the author in exchange for an honest review. AND IT WAS AWESOME!

I stumbled upon Layla Hagen's books with non other than her debut Lost in Us. A wonderful, heartbreaking and real take on falling in love and the conflicts that can rise in a relationship. Having loved that one I kept on reading everything else she published. And they were all worth the wait! So here we are again having waited for a book I knew would be great.

We met Dani in Lost in Us and then got a better glimpse of her in Found in Us. But this is her book so we get to know her, and I must say love her in this one. The same goes for her mystery bad-boy-fighter Damon. What I like the most about this one, is that the author tried for a lighter tone and she achieved it. But she also manage a real and heavy relationship that developed mostly like falling in love, slowly then all at once. I liked that they had their differences, their common ground and how they both come from broken families in different ways. Also, that they were regular teenagers. Sometimes other authors want to make teenagers sound like adults and... They're not. They're growing into adults. But, as we follow Dani and Damon through their story, we can see how much they fell in love as they forgive, forget and move on with their lives, along with the people who supported them.

I liked this book enough but I can't help feeling that it's just way too convenient. How do I explain this?

There's barely any drama/conflict in this book and yes I'm aware of the whole parents drama but even that didn't leave a whole lot of impact in it. A lot of problems were resolved pretty quickly.

I would love it if we get more scenes of "A Year Later" Dani instead of having her narrating the events leading to the new her. It's not enough for me to see her character growth. It's just not convincing enough.

Also, her relationship with Damon continued almost immediately after they reunited -- like I said earlier, way way convenient don't you think? I would like it better if they would take things slowly -- rebuild their friendship/relationship. After all, it's been a year and they're not the same kid anymore.

Overall, this was an okay read.

3.5 Sweet Chocolate Stars! Every now and again, as a lover of romance, I need that story that just makes me feel that precious warmth that only a sweet romantic journey can fulfill. This story of Dani and Damon fits the bill; their sweet, young, first love evolves into the mature, passionate bond that spans the years. Layla did throw in a little angst, drama and suspense, but it wasn't so much that I was screaming, and pulling my hair out, LOL! It was just enough to have my heart sore when the HEA finally arrives. Thank you Layla for allowing me the honor of receiving an ARC for my honest feedback.

i was given this for my honest review, this is Dani's story and it truly gives you a hopeful view, she really has overcome how her parents made her feel and her outlook is positive. Damon is the bad boy through his own masking and between them they help each other through things. Even with their time apart they have held their feelings for each other deep and you fall in love with them, there is fun and humour in this as well as a few heart stopping moments but most of all a fantastic read.
