These illustrated cat stories are all about “Oliver and Jumpy”, who are best of friends and experience many adventures together. Oliver is an elegant black tomcat, who is full of himself. As a matter of fact he says: “I love myself!” quite often. Naughty, isn’t he? But his best friend Jumpy, a kangaroo lady, is aware that it is only a front! Oliver has a soft heart and will always want to help others. The great thing is Jumpy’s pouch, which Oliver loves to ride in! He calls her his kangaroo taxi! These little bedtime stories with their lovely illustrations are great for small kids. A parent can read the text and tell the child in his own words. These animal stories have sufficient text to keep early readers happy and provide some educational value. Depending on your device, there is pop-up text (at Amazon) or audio available. Several talented illustrators are essential to bring these children's stories to you in quick succession. Love you all! Meow!
Now also a Romantasy author! Born in Vienna, Austria, I am now living in the paradise of Perth, Australia with my wife, two married children and three grandchildren. I worked many years in the printing industry and later for the United Nations in Vienna. My wife had been a pen-friend, whom I visited in Hong Kong and finally got married to. After an eventful life, finally retired, I began to write children's stories, had them illustrated through Odesk, narrated them myself for YouTube and finally published the ebooks on most platforms. I will publish 20 books with three stories each in English, before translating into several other languages. My dream is to see "Oliver and Jumpy" animated as a TV series.
This introduction to Oliver the elegant cat is really a great book. It is simple for younger readers and their parents to share. The different adventures that Jumpy and Oliver get into are so cute. There are ice cream snowball fights! Trips to the moon and so much more. The illustrations are adorable. That lioness looked so cute with her adopted babies. I love that the book shows that other adventures are out there waiting for the readers. I will be checking out the other books so that I can share them with my grandchildren. They are the perfect age for these stories.
I like the pictures but there is no adventure to follow, just an introduction to Oliver and his friends, and some scenes from their previous stories. While I am sure the pictures may be worth enjoying, young readers may be dismayed if they don't realise there is no adventure, so that is why I am giving only four stars. I would approve of this book being offered free as a good introduction, which I expect will be the case.
Oliver is a very elegant cat. He's a very different cat. He can't eat mice or anything like that. He's allergic to them. His best friend is Jumpy, a kangaroo. They have lots of adventures and meet many other animals. Let's join them.
A wonderful series of books about helping others. They are perfect bedtime stories because they are short and sweet. Your young ones will love the characters. They are bigger than life and nothing to be scared of. I love the fact they end on a positive note. It's nice to bring children books they will learn from and enjoy too. I recommend you get these for the young ones in your life.
I did find a couple issues for American children at least. There are lots of big words used that many won't understand.
I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because the littles will love these books. ~Copy of book provided by author in exchange for a fair review~
Oliver and Jumpy, Introduction by Werner Stejskal Agreed to read and review this book for the author. subject sounded interesting to me. Found some of the words to be a bit advanced for my 8 year old grandson but with help he would be able to read the book. Wish print was a larger size. Illustrated very colorful children's book about animals and a bit about their lives and habitat. Oliver is the tomcat and Jumpy is his best friend. Love scenes of building a snowman where everybody helps. So many different animals and sea life in this book. allows a child's imagination to wonder. Real adventures start in the other books in the series.
In this first book of the series "Oliver and Jumpy" we are introduced to the characters. This is just an introduction to the different stories by Werner Stejskal. The reader will find out about Oliver the Tomcat, his best friend Jumpy who is a lady kangaroo, and her son Joey. It will give you the insight of the series of books by this author. It's a great book for parents with younger children but kids up to age 9 can read the books themselves too.
If your children love books about adventure, these are the stories for them. The illustrations are engaging and colorful. The stories are fun, full of adventure, and adorable! Children of all ages would have fun reading these stories or having them read to them. The main character is a tomcat who loves to recount adventures that he has previously went on with his friends, including a kangaroo and her joey. Any child full of adventure and imagination would love these stories.
This introduction to the Oliver and Jumpy series of books is a sneak peek at the characters and a few of the stories Oliver and his friends will encounter in the books that follow. With illustrations that bring the characters to life, you and your children will be delighted.
This is an interesting introductory story about a brave and playful tomcat named Oliver and kangaroo friend Jumpy. A book that contains some of the best things to come, like Oliver & Jumpy’s snowman fun and their encounter with aliens in the moon. An exciting new book that my kids look forward to.
Oliver and Jumpy - the Cat Series, Introduction to the Stories, Book 0: Bedtime stories for children in an illustrated picture book with short stories for ... readers. (Oliver and Jumpy, the cat series) By: Werner Stejskal
A bedtime story is a traditional form of storytelling, where a story is told to a child at bedtime to prepare the child for sleep. The bedtime story has long been considered "a definite institution in many families". The term "bedtime story" was coined by Louise Chandler Moulton in her 1873 book, Bed-time Stories.
The book which I will suggest to you folks today is an exceptionally captivating and extremely fascinating book the substance of this book will make you fall head over heels for this book.
Oliver and Jumpy - the Cat Series, Introduction to the Stories, Book 0: Bedtime stories for children in illustrated picture book with short stories for ... readers. Overall, THIS IS A MUST-READ. Written cautiously, this book is something that will be a joy to peruse and I prescribe you to peruse it. This book is certainly worth the buy and worth the read.
This is basically an introduction to the Oliver and Jumpy series which informs readers what the characters and stories (over fifty of them are in the actual series of books) are like. This book is free on Amazon Kindle, so that it gives the customer a more in-depth idea of what they can look forward to before actually spending any money on the series. Oliver, the cat, is a jaunty little fellow who seems to be the main narrator throughout the series and expresses his opinions freely. Besides little facts which are sprinkled throughout the stories which help educate children, there are questions asked directly to the reader to help engage their interest. Beautiful illustrations!
I will only say a few words here for the synopsis really does a good job description.
This was a very quick read which tells stories about Oliver and Jumpy who go on adventures. One is a cat and one a kangaroo. I thought it was kinda funny that Oliver takes rides in Jumpy's pouch.
The stories where some educational and did have illustrations that where okay. But as far as small children I am not to sure that they would fully get the educational part.
So for the reasons above I will be giving this book my Breath of Life rating of:
Four Clock Rating!!
Disclosure: I did receive the above book in exchange for my honest opinion and or review. But the Opinions are my own and yours may differ.
This book was an introduction to Oliver. It was interesting and beautifully illustrated. Oliver is an elegant gentleman who always wears a white top hat and red bowtie. Oliver's best friend Joey whose mom is Jumpy. They have many adventures together. Some of their adventures are listed next, but I'm going to keep them a secret. They look fun and exciting and I want you to discover them. I did not realize this wasn't a book with a story in it until there were no more pages to turn. I found this book on a Kindle Unlimited website and so can you.
A awesome series about Oliver the cat and Jumpy the kangaroo. Follow the 2 as they travel trough may adventures together. The books are very well illustrated and so colorful kids will love them the stories and adventures will keep the children's attention. The stories will bring even adults to remember things of their childhood. I know as I read this I thought it refreshing and fun. A great way to keep your children entertained.
This little sample book introducing the Oliver and Jumpy series has me excited for the simple story adventures shared between Oliver, Jumpy and some of their animal friends like, Olly, Joey. I love the fact that my grandchildren can get attached to the characters of Oliver and Jumpy and travel with them repeatedly on the numerous adventure stories in this series. I know they will look forward to each one like visiting with good friends. Adorable illustrations filled with color and life.
As short stories go, this one was very short. So, short I read it in just a few minutes. This was just an introduction to a series of shorts, for children, with the same character, a cat named Oliver. Oliver sets the scene by telling us about the journey he is about to embark on with his friends, Jumpy and others. As an introductory story, it simply tells us, and not show us what is happening, of course, until we read Oliver’s other adventures. It will be interesting to find this out.
Cheery and colorful book. Will catch primary school age children’s attention with bright illustrations and hold their attention with the funny escapades that Oliver and Jumpy get into. The language is easy to follow and the characters are like able and relatable.
I am an Independent ARC Reader/Reviewer/Blogger & was presented with this e-book from the publisher and I voluntarily chose to review it.
The introduction of Oliver & Jumpy is so cute that my son egged me on to pick more stories and now we are fans of Oliver and Sillianda. We love visiting this story land again and again. This is the introduction to the series and sets the pace for all the fun ahead.
A glimpse into the future adventures and delightful illustrations on each page make for a fun, easy to read book for children and parents alike. Bright, colorful pictures attract our attention and helps my 6 year old understand the story better. Simple sentences give a hint about what is in store for Oliver and his friends. We are looking forward to go with Oliver & Jumpy.
My son and I have already read a few of the stories from the series and will keep you posted with our reviews. This Cat has a smart personality and smarter attitude.
(I got a copy of the book in exchange of my unbiased review.)
Beautifully illustrated series of an "Elegant" Tom cat named Oliver and his best friend Jumpy the Kangaroo mom.
This is an introduction to the series to give you an idea of what the books are all about. I highly recommend you get it as it has some great pictures and a short story that all the children will enjoy. It's a perfect series for reading together at night or for new readers to delve into on their own.
As a Grandma I can highly recommend these fun and entertaining stories of animals acting like people.
Here's a chance to go on adventures with your new friends ?
I enjoyed this sweet yet neat adventures that Oliver and his three friends seem to enjoy going on. And such lovely and colorful illustrations that I feel this needs a five star rating. And would recommend this for kids from ages 1-8. I received this ebook for free and in return I am returning with an honest review. Great work Werner! By Angela
This book is exactly what it claims to be -- an INTRODUCTION to the series, a sneak peek, a tease. The photos are exquisite. I would prefer to see them in paper format. an ereader version does not do them justice. The adventures mentioned sound exciting and fanciful. This book introduces us to the characters and the possibilities. This is not an actual adventure story.
I am looking forward to reading some of the adventures.
The book has pretty illustrations, but the story lines are a bit too involved. Loose the long explanations because young kids are going to be bored fast.
Don't try to involve the audience, tell it like a story. It is cute, but not something I would read to a child until it was cleaned up.
I think this book is a great idea, it allows kids a sneak peek at the other adventures available in the Oliver and Jumpy series. That way before the kids pick up a book they can pick the one they find the most interesting. Oliver and Jumpy go on some great adventures and this book tells readers just a bit about where they headed. The author does a great job and the illustrations are wonderful.
