Alaskan Search and Rescue: Risking their lives to save the day
Margaret Daley, an award-winning author of seventy-six books, has been married for over forty years and is a firm believer in romance and love. When she isn’t traveling, she’s writing love stories, often with a suspense thread and corralling her three cats that think they rule her household. To Save Her Child by Margaret Daley is the second book in the Alaskan Search and Rescue series. This inspirational romantic suspense novel is a fast read that depicts the effects people’s pasts can have on relationships.
Ella Jackson’s eight-year-old son and two friends go missing from a wilderness day camp. Northern Frontier Search and Rescue, where Ella is the office manager, is called in to help locate them. Ex-marine Josiah Witherspoon and his canine Buddy are one of the teams searching for them. He promises Ella that he will find Robbie. Both Ella and Josiah have secrets and fears from their past. Can they learn to trust one another? Will the past catch up with them?
Ella, Josiah, and Robbie are likeable characters with enough flaws to keep them relatable. However, Buddy steals the limelight. This is a disturbing story that realistically depicts the devastating effects of missing children on parents.
The writing flows well and the world-building is great. Overall, the story is entertaining with a well-written plot, a wonderful setting, and extraordinary characters. While unsettling at times and having several heart-wrenching moments, it was a little too predictable for me. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it.
This is my honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way. Publication date was February 3, 2015.
Ella moves to Alaska with her young son Robbie to escape her abusive ex-husband. When a kidnapping attempt is made on Robbie, handsome search-and-rescue worker Josiah along with his canine partner Buddy, come to Robbie's rescue. Since the kidnapper has yet to be caught, Josiah and Buddy protect Ella and her son until the danger passes. This was a good read, if a bit predictable at times, with mild suspense, a sweet romance, a cute kid, and a lovable dog.
To Save Her Child is book two in the Alaskan Search and Rescue series, but is definitely able to be read as a stand alone.
Wow! What an exciting and nerve-wracking story. I was reading this book late last night and had to put it down at one point because I was getting too nervous about what was going to happen!
Ella Jackson and Josiah Witherspoon are very strong people who have both been through extremely traumatic experiences. These events have shaped them into the people they are, but also weigh heavily on them as they try to navigate their way through life. I really liked Josiah and Ella’s characters. And Ella’s son, Robbie, was such a wonderful addition to the story and so realistic in his response to the various good and bad situations that arose.
I loved the tension in the book…not knowing what was going to happen around the next curve. I also really enjoyed the character and relationship growth that took place in both Ella and Josiah. The way they relied on God to help them navigate through their past issues and move forward was a good reminder of how we all should lean on Him for all things.
I would like to express my appreciation to the author for the complimentary copy of this book that I received in exchange for an honest review.
To Save Her Child was just what I expected it to be: a good romantic suspense. I liked the characters, although the romance wasn't one of my favs (I felt it moved a little to quickly).
I loved the setting and the suspense of searching for the missing children. I will say that aspect of the story (the search) wasn't as intense as I was expecting, but it wasn't boring either. One of my favorite parts of the book? The search dogs! I loved how they were able to follow a trail to easily.
All in all, a fine read and if you like romantic suspense, you will probably enjoy To Save Her Child. I don't think you need to read the first book, as I didn't and I was able to follow the story easily.
*I received a complimentary eBook copy of this book for my honest review. As always, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*
To Save Her Child by Margaret Daly starts with a great opening scene that had me holding my breath. It also had a surprise outcome for me which I always enjoy. Josiah is a great hero. He has retired from the Marines and is dealing with PSTD and has a service dog, Buddy that he has also trained for search and rescue. This is how he met Ella as she works for Northern Frontier Search & Rescue. She has run from her own past issues and is starting to be comfortable in her new life. Her son Robbie was adorable and your heart just broke for him and some of the situations he had to deal with. Robbie goes missing from his summer camp. Josiah and Buddy head out to find him. It is every mom’s worse nightmare. Ella is terrified and concerned that her ex-husband has finally found them. This story was set in Alaska and included some interesting and entertaining information about the state. The secondary characters were enjoyable too. I am hoping that Josiah's twin sister, Alex gets her own story next. I recommend To Save Her Child if you enjoy a good clean romantic suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Margaret Daley is a friend, but that doesn't mean I can't write an honest review. So here goes! Recently Margaret reached a milestone-- her 70th book. WOW! This lady can write--and does!
This story in particular is part of the continuity series, "Alaskan Search and Rescue." Harlequin designs these multi-author series so each series has a theme and similar elements but each story is written about a different hero and heroine and by a different author.
Margaret's story in this contininuity concerns a single mom, her son and a very handsome search and rescue volunteer.
This book was not a nuanced as most of Margaret's romances are. I think that had to do with lining it up to go with the other stories and authors. (Each of these continuity series books follow a guide drawn up by the editors.)
However, it was not possible to escape caring about her heroine who'd escaped an abusive marriage or not to fall in love with Josiah, her hero. A solid read by an amazing author!
Ella is hiding in Alaska with her young son. She is hiding from her abusive ex-husband. When her son goes missing from a day camp, she thinks the worst. Luckily in steps Josiah an ex Marine who brings his search dog Buddy in for the search. Their relationship slowly grows built on faith and communication. o gather they unwrap all their dark shadows from the past and step into the light of a future. Meanwhile things have gotten dangerous for young boys, a child predator is out there. Working together, with members of the community everything starts coming together. I enjoyed this uplifting read. It was about broken people, good people who deserved more. It had a Christian element that I did not expect. It was not over done or preachy but true to the characters.
I love Alaska as a setting! There is something so vast about it. That sense brought the danger to another level when a few boys get lost in the woods with adult footprints following them. I loved learning about the search and rescue workers and their dogs. The suspense of the plot is actually broken into two phases, and it wasn't quite believable that this family would have two such similar dangerous experiences from completely unrelated sources. Overall I enjoyed the characters, and the scenes with Ella's son bonding with Josiah's dog were so heartwarming.

I've become a real fan of Margaret Daley's writing and especially her Alaskan Search and Rescue series. I'm a sucker for suspense and stories set in Alaska so To Save Her Child was a double winner in my book.
I think To Save Her Child is probably my favorite in the series so far. There was just something about Ella and Josiah, two very wounded people, learning to trust and love again that tugged at the heart. I also really liked the character of Buddy. Emotional support dogs are a wonderful thing, especially in helping those with PTSD. I fell in love with Buddy and hope he makes an appearance in any further books in the series.
I loved the outdoors scenes in the story, I mean there is nothing like the Alaskan wilderness and a kidnapper to get the heart racing and those pages turning!
The pacing is just right in To Save Her Child, with the perfect balance of dialogue and adventure. Margaret Daley knows her craft well and she delivers an exciting tale of danger and romance in the rugged wilds of Alaska.
(I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own.)
To Save Her Child ( Alaskan search and Rescue book 2 ) By: Margaret Daley This is another riveting inspirational suspense and romance by Margaret Daley. To Save Her Child starts off at a fast pace and you want to grab on and not let go till the end. There is a child that goes missing from a camp in the Alaskan Wilderness. Josiah , is with the search and rescue , he promises to find the child and return him to his mother. Ella is worried about her son. They must find him before it is to late. She has a deep secret past that she is hiding. Ella is afraid to trust anyone. Can Josiah and Ella find her son and the other boys alive? Can Ella trust Josiah with her secret and what will it do to them? She knows she must tell him, but is afraid to. I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest review, which I have given.
I really love reading books published in the Love Inspired Suspense line and if the book has the name Margaret Daley on it all the better.
To Save Her Child is Margaret Daley's newest book in her Alaskan Search & Rescue series for the Love Inspired Suspense line and let me tell you, it's one of her best. The first book in the series, The Yuletide Rescue was also a wonderful book. Read my review here.
Ella Jackson and her eight year old son Robbie have been living in Alaska for four years. She works for Northern Frontier Search & Rescue taking care of the administrative office. Josiah Witherspoon and his twin sister, Alex, are co-owners of Outdoor Alaska, a company that outfits S & R teams and they both work as volunteers for Northern Frontier Search & Rescue along with there S&R dogs Buddy & Sadie. Ella & Josiah are two wonderful characters that I loved getting to know but hated saying goodbye.
The story opens when Ella's son Robbie disappears along with two of his friends from day camp. A search & rescue sequence begins which propels the story forward. With twists and turns abounding in this novel, the reader is taken on a wonderful sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seat journey. Ms. Daley, does this so well.
Ella and Josiah both have secrets in their past that neither wants to talk about. I found myself wanting to shake both of them so I could convince them they needed to open up to each other. But alas, it is a novel and that was Ms. Daley's job and she allowed them to open up at the appropriate times.
To Save Her Child is a quick read that invites the reader to join in a search and rescue journey. It was obvious that Ms. Daley did her research. I would highly suggest that you make sure you allow yourself a few hours to read this book, as once you begin I guarantee you will not want to put it down until you turn the very last page.
I would highly recommend To Save Her Child to anyone who loves a good romantic suspense novel. It is a quick read and extremely entertaining.
On a 5-Star scale = 5 HUGE stars!!!!!
I would like to thank Margaret Daley for my copy of To Save Her Child. I received my copy for free in order to read it and give my honest review, which I have done.
To Save Her Child is another exciting suspense from Margaret Daley! Although it is the second book in the Alaskan Search and Rescue series, this story stands on its own.
As Ella Jackson’s worst fears come true, she must learn to trust and accept help from those around her. Josiah Witherspoon risks his life as a search and rescue volunteer, but hesitates to risk his heart. These two must risk it all to save Ella’s young son.
I love reading about the special people who risk their lives to save others! Ella and Josiah are endearing characters and I really enjoyed the development of their relationship. The emotions are palpable in this fast-paced story of danger and suspense. I enjoyed To Save Her Child and recommend it to fans of romantic suspense!
My thanks to the author for the complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts expressed in this review are my own and no monetary compensation was received.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book in which we see a few different search and rescue incidents. The major focus is on a boy aged eight, whose mother left an abusive marriage. The boy is missing from camp and loose in the Alaska wilderness, after a strange man tries to abduct him. Enter the local SAR team including search-trained German Shepherd dogs.
The tensions continue and the whole neighbourhood is on the watch for this man so we get to see what happens when an Amber Alert is issued and how a major SAR operation is handled. There is also plenty of woodland scenery, bears included, and a romance develops gradually and sensitively between the boy's mother and a dog handler.
This is a good read and we can learn a lot as well as exploring Alaska.
To Save Her Child by Margaret Daley is aptly described as 'riveting inspirational romance." When a young boy goes missing from day camp, Alaskan search and rescue worker, Josiah Witherspoon and his therapy dog, Buddy are on the job. Ella Jackson, office manager, for Northern Frontier Search and Rescue is beyond words when she founds out her son is the missing boy--has her ex-husband found her? More abductions follow and Ella is concerned her secret past will be revealed. Will Josiah and Ella face their past fears and find a brighter future? Filled with suspense, twists and turns, this book will keep you guessing and will be hard to put down 'til you finish.
There are so many twists and turns in this story that you will need your own search and rescue canine to lead you safely to 'the end'. Suspense lurks on every page and things aren't always what they seem. I shouted warnings until I was hoarse but did the hapless heroine listen to any of them? Of course not. She blithely went on her merry way. Thankfully Josiah wasn't keen on letting her out of his sight. Loved the slow build of romance in the midst of all that suspenseful tension. And loving this Alaskan Search and Rescue series. So much fodder for future books! I can't wait for more from this exceptional author.
Likeable characters to root for that have quite a bit of baggage from the past they are dealing with. A Single mom, Ella, trying to keep her 8 year old child safe from her ex-husband. An ex-marine who was a POW and dealing with overcoming the trauma of that experience. Ella's son goes missing and it looks like a man is after him, is it the father or someone else? The romance developed too quickly for me. I also feel like there was a lot of build up to the suspense and action part, but then it wrapped up very quickly.
After finishing a book about death under Stalin, I figured this silly thing would be a quick palate cleanser -- I'd picked it up months ago to joke about with my dad, who also did search and rescue with his pup. I realize it's probably pointless to include a one-star rating here, as I presume the readers who buy this book in seriousness are getting exactly what they want out of it. But my god, this book wasn't even a good ridiculous romance. Buyer beware: apparently Harlequin's "Love Inspired" Suspense subseries (sub-subseries "Alaskan Search + Rescue") is full of non-denominational Christian abstinence - just the kind of fare a Bristol Palin might endorse (Harlequin, what are you doing?!?!?!). So here, we had a LOT of hand clasping and arm clasping and occasionally cupping a hand over a pair of already clasped hands, one forehead kiss, a lot of blushing, and two kisses on the mouth, before a very abrupt marriage proposal in the last pages. Don't read this for the physical action, or the hope for any sort of variety in verbs when it comes to what the hands and arms are doing. Unless you want subjects and verbs mixed up inappropriately in phrases like "her hands fisted." Nope, not that kind of book.
And the story driving all of these emotionally fraught hand-holding sessions? We've got single mom Ella (+ 8 year old Robbie) who left her abusive ex-husband who was also involved in a "crime syndicate" but after Ella turned him into the police went to "the" state's evidence [sic] and wound up in a Witness Protection Program such that Ella can't know where he is, while at the same time he's probably hunting her down. We've got Josiah Witherspoon, who runs a camping store with his twin sister after having been a secret POW during his ten years in the Marines, during which time his fiancee couldn't stay faithful -- but he does volunteer search and rescue with his dog Buddy who also helps with his PTSD. These are two people who DO NOT TRUST ANYONE and who also feel it is critical for any potential partner (though each feels like s/he can't believe that life will offer up any partner) to SHARE THEIR DEEPEST SECRETS. And there you have it. Can they trust? Will they share their secrets? Yes, by the end of the book, they will, and after checking these two trust? secrets? boxes, they are obviously ready to get married.
Also, there's some random child predator winds up loose in Alaska hunting down Robbie for no great reason - Josiah clearly has to help, which prompts all the indebtedness and questions about reciprocity in the trust and secret sharing departments, and also results in said child predator winding up in Ella's house where Josiah and Ella beat him down. But don't worry, if you were thinking it odd that some random child predator was after Robbie when we keep hearing about this crazy ex-husband, it does seem this family just has especially bad luck. When the Ella/Josiah/Robbie/Josiah's-twin-sister/dog crew goes on a celebratory camping trip to on some deserted Alaskan island (after recovering from the child predator scare), Ella (1) spies someone looking at her with binoculars and scaring deer, (2) finds the next morning that all their food has been stolen and replaced with rocks (we have a jokester on our hands!), and THEN (3) is suddenly kidnapped by that ex-husband?! Let's just say the "suspense" element here was hilariously contrived, but Josiah obviously comes to the rescue and all is well. Well, all is well once both Ella and Josiah realize that they need to forgive their respective captors and exes (WTF, really?! This is the dipped-in-nondenominational-"New Life-Organization"-worship aspect that was truly the last straw). But hey, maybe it's less hard to forgive the insane ex who was starting to torture you in a cave and planned to steal your son, after Josiah has thrown him to the bottom of a pit in the cave where all the blood pooled around his head "suggests" he's finally dead. Forgiveness is a funny thing.
Oh, and the author calls Marine Josiah a "soldier" at one point. For heaven's sake, lady.
This is the second installment in the Alaskan Search and Rescue series. I loved the first book and knowing the author's talent in writing I knew I would also like this book. Yet nothing prepared me for the emotions this story would evoke. I loved this book also. It's a story that will tug any parent's heartstrings and touch one of their greatest fears-child abduction. Ella Jackson has a history she prefers to not talk about. Even with moving to Alaska two years ago she still looks over her shoulder, but just not quiet as much. She works at Northern Frontier Search and Rescue. Wanting to keep her son safe she enrolls him in Camp Yukon to learn about wilderness safety. When the camp notifies her that her son and two other boys are missing the fear she experiences is almost paralyzing. There are so many dangers he could encounter from wild animals, hypothermia, or even her ex husband. She works with Josiah Witherspoon at the SAR office and when he offers to help locate the boys Ella finds herself torn with confiding in him her greatest fear. This former ex marine has a way of calming her nerves and his survival skills would be valuable in finding her son and his friends. Josiah knows the dangers these children could face and is determined to bring them home. His protective instincts kick in where Ella and her son are concerned, but he knows she is keeping secrets. Will she trust him enough to confide in him. This is a suspenseful romance that will quickly pull the reader in and the fast paced plot line will keep them turning the pages. I automatically liked Ella and the depth of the love she shows her son. I fell a little in love with Josiah who was constantly putting others first, but my respect came from his dedications to his job and the sheer guts it took to face the uncertainty of the outcome. The author's depth of research is shown through her vivid imagery and details. I would recommend this book to anyone. I was lucky enough to receive this ARC from the author for a honest review without bias as stated above. I look forward to the next book in this series.
4 STARS Search and rescues put so much time, effort and money to help people. I am grateful for the many who do that around the world. This story gives a us a glance at how hard and how important their work is. It shows them working all night to find a gentleman lost from his care center then turn around that next morning and search for three missing boys.
To Save Her Child is full of drama, action, dogs and suspenseful. It is fast paced story you will not want to put it down. It mentions prayers, forgiveness, abuse and hope. It is a clean read.
Ella Jackson is a single mother raising her son Robbie. Her past is a secret. She does not plan to get married again. She works for a Search and Rescue. Now it is her son Robbie who is missing in the Alaskan wilderness.
Josiah Witherspoon has been doing search and rescue for awhile now. He was a Marine, he has been home 18 months. He is still at the office when Ella gets the call that her son is missing from daycamp. He has been having issues with what he went through before he came home. He feels he needs to lookout for Ella and Robbie till they are safe.
Josiah and Ella both have to forgive a person in there past for their sake.
I like the characters and want to know what happens next in there lives.
The setting is Alaska. I would love to see all the wildlife they run into and scenery that Margaret described. I was given To Save Her Child by Net Galley and Harlequin and in return agreed to give honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the spiritual messages, and inspirational quotes that was weaved throughout the story. The story had suspense, action, romance, a small boy, and a search and rescue dog named Buddy.
Ella Jackson was in a abusive marriage. She turned her husband in to the police. With help from a organization, She was able to file for divorce, and move to a Alaska with her little boy Robbie. Her heart sank when the day camp her son was staying at, called to say he was missing. Josiah, and his search dog Buddy, helped in the search to find Robbie. After he was found Buddy, and Josiah protected both Ella and her son. The man that had chased the boys through the woods had not been found. I loved how fast Robbie bonded with Buddy. Both Buddy, and Robbie made this story.
Josiah had served in the military. During his time he was captured, and was a POW. He still has bad night mares about that time. Buddy wakes him up. Not only is buddy a search and rescue dog, but he is also a service animal. That part of the story touched my heart. The romance between Ella, and Josiah was sweet. It started off slow, while the two got to know one another. Through the suspense of the story, you could feel the friendship growing into something more. Josiah's friendship also grew with her son. Robby had a bit of hero worship. It was the first time in his life he had a good male role model. I loved how Josiah would take the time to do things with the little boy.
This was one of those feel good story's. It left me with a warm heart.
This was a pretty good book. Ella is the organizer of the Alaskan search and rescue. She is integral in the operation, but when she gets a call that it is HER son that is missing, things change. She and Josiah have never been friends but he doesn't hesitate to help when she tells him what is going on. He and his search dog go to find her son. As they investigate exactly what happened to her son and his friends, things get twisted and more convoluted. The two of them grow closer and closer as they investigate and both try to move beyond their past. I completely adored Ella's son! He was the highlight of the book for me. The relationship between Ella and Josiah was entertaining. With each having their own past and issues that come from it, you knew there would be problems to work through. The secondary characters were good, I especially enjoyed Josiah's sister and want to read a story about her hopefully in the future. The k-9 elements will steal your heart and it makes me want to know how her son grows up and what he does. Overall the story line was good. It did get predictable at the end, but that didn't take away from the message of the book. It was a 3/5 for me. I would have liked less predictability but it was a good story. Thank you to the publisher for the review copy of this book (via netgalley). I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.
The part I liked best about this book was the authenticity of it. You can tell that the author has done her homework! Not only are the characters realistic but the situations and the dialogue. I was pulled in from the very beginning. Ella and her son, Robbie, are definitely guarded in their relationships with others but when you find out why, you understand. The book opens with Ella's son going missing from his day camp! As a mother, I can't imagine anything more terrifying than getting a phone call saying that your child is missing! Ella works for a search & rescue unit so everyone goes into "search mode" right then but Josiah Witherspoon especially takes Ella with him because he has a search dog. After Robbie is found, there continues to be problems when a crazy man is out taking kids off the streets so Ella & Robbie must move out of their house for awhile. I can just imagine how unsettled all that would make you feel, especially when Ella & Robbie were already in that state due to their past! Josiah also has big things he is dealing with as a former POW in the military. The suspenseful things that happen during the course of the book keep you turning those pages and keep you guessing what will happen! I liked the other characters, especially Josiah's sister, Alex. The ending was very suspenseful and realistic! I stayed up late to finish the book because I HAD to see what happened! I also loved all the exposure of the rescue dogs!
To Save Her Child, Alaskan Search Rescue Series by Margaret Daley Christian Fiction, Suspense Love Inspired Suspense ISBN 9780373446483 Ella Jackson has hidden from her past for the last four years in Alaska. When her young son and two other young boys disappear from Camp Yukon a wilderness camp she wonders if they wandered away or if something more sinister is at play. As an ex-marine he takes on the job of protecting Ella and her son. When a strong friendship develops will the secrets of the past come between them. I give To Save Her Child 5 stars. I found it to be filled with faith, had action around every corner and hard to put down. The author Margaret Daley did a magnificent job of bringing the characters to life. I found this book to be well written. It held my attention and had me at the edge of my seat. I want to thank the author Margaret Daley and publisher Love Inspired Suspense for bringing good clean Christian books like this one to readers like me. I was provided with this book in exchange for my honest review. I am so grateful for the authors and publishers generosity.
This is the second book in Margaret Daley’s “Alaskan Search and Rescue” series. It can be read as a stand alone book. Is it possible to escape an abusive marriage and relationship with a simple divorce, especially when the abuser is also involved in criminal business dealings? How far can you take your child and disappear to start a new life? Come along to Alaska where Ella and her son who have started a new life while keeping a low profile. Ella is employed by Alaskan search and research. When her son and two other boys go missing from a wilderness camp, SAR gets involved to help find them. Josiah and his dog, Buddy take on part of the search with Ella at their side. Was this as innocent as wandering away from camp and getting spooked? Could Ella’s past be catching up? How will she & her son survive? The story is filled with a cast of well drawn characters. The book totters between the present and past. This makes the mystery of the characters explainable. The author weaves romance, mystery, suspense and intrigue into a great read. The core of the story inspires the reader with faith, trust, forgiveness and redemption. Thank you to the author for the book. My opinion is my own.
In this latest book in the Alaskan Search and Rescue Series by Margaret Daley, she continues the story of people risking their lives to save the lives of others. In this book, the ones at risk are young boys. Alaska is a dangerous place for children to get lost with all of the wildlife, such as bears and moose, and the lakes, rivers, and caves. When there are predatory people around, it gets even more dangerous. Mix that with a mom who is trying to hide her son and herself from an abusive, criminal ex-husband. It's a combination for a lot of suspense and excitement. Weave in some good, clean romance and add the inspiration of a mother who is willing to do what it takes to protect her son, even if it means risking her own life. It’s a winner. I recommend the book. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
Like: The ending and the setting. Dislike: Nothing
Would I recommend it? Yes, I would definitely recommend this book. It's a clean Christian romance, that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I took me about two hours to read this book, once I started reading it I couldn't put it down.
I really like that you can tell that the author did her homework and really knew what she was talking about. She took the time to research her setting and her characters occupations and because of that the books events were realistic.
Overall I really did like this book, it was a short and really sweet story with a happy ending for everyone!
Thank you Harlequin via Netgalley for providing me with this book in exchange for an honest review!
Ella loves her job at the SAR. David from book one is her boss and she really enjoys working for him. She also enjoys the other people who work and volunteer there. One of these people is Josiah, a young man who used to be in the military and returned a different man. Josiah has his secrets and Ella has hers. They have to learn together that they can't keep secrets from each other.
Then Ella's past finds its way back. Together they learn that in order to move forward together they must forgive those in their pasts.
Robbie is Ella's son and he's such a fun character. Josiah's sister is great too. I'm hoping a future book in the series will find some happiness for her.
This was a sweet story and one that I really enjoyed. Both Ella and Josiah have had things happen in their past to make trusting others hard, but it was great the way they both were working through it. Josiah was such a wonderful guy! I loved the way he took Robbie under his wing and became a godly man in his life. If you enjoy Christian romantic suspense, I'm sure you'll love this book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book to review. I was asked to give my honest opinion of the book - which I have done.
To Save Her Child the second book in the Alaskan Search Rescue series by Margaret Daley was a very good book. Josiah Witherspoon was a prison of war and healing from it. He works for a company that does search and rescue using dogs. Ella Jackson has a ten year old boy. The boy is lost in the woods when some man follows him. Josiah searches for him. Plus Ella's ex husband is after her. Josiah tries to protect Ella and her boy. A Lot goes on in this book. Lots of suspense. Have to read it.
I love stories set in Alaska and this tale of a single mom and a SAR volunteer had a lot of potential. However, there were some technical issues with the writing, particularly head-hopping POVs, shallow/telling prose, and repetitive internal dialogue. This wasn't a deeply engaging novel in which I felt really connected to the characters or was on the edge of my seat with suspense, but for a couple hours' escape it was entertaining enough.
