Good book with nice balance of romance and suspense. Chelsie had gone out one night to celebrate becoming an FBI negotiator. She ran into her friend Maggie's older brother, Scott, a sniper with the FBI's HRT. She'd been attracted to him for awhile, and that night one thing led to another. The next day she was involved in a situation where she failed to stop a gunman, and the failure devastated her. She blamed herself, gave up her new position as a negotiator, and took a place with a team where she felt she wouldn't put anyone's safety at risk. She also ignored Scott and his attempts to see her again.
Scott was known as the guy who doesn't get serious with anyone. He'll have a date or two and move on. But in Chelsie he saw something that he'd like to spend time pursuing, only to have her refuse to see him anymore. He was persistent, but gave up after six months. After that, he kept trying to find anyone who would help get her out of his mind, but was unsuccessful. However, it just added to his playboy reputation.
When the gunman escaped from jail, it was suspected that he was coming after Chelsie, so she was placed in protective custody. Scott and his partner had volunteered, so he and Chelsie were forced into each other's company. Spending that time together, they had to face their history together and deal with it. The attraction between them is still strong and overcomes their intentions several times. There are a couple great scenes involving them and Scott's partner showing up at awkward times. But Chelsie is still looking at Scott as the playboy, unable to believe that he is willing to get serious with her. Both Chelsie and Scott have other issues going on that are holding them back. Chelsie is still dealing with the guilt of her failure and the loss of confidence in her abilities. Part of that guilt is rooted in her own past. Scott can see her vulnerability and tries to be patient, but eventually his frustration gets the better of him. He blasts her with what he sees as the issues that are holding her back, and is stunned when she gives as good as she gets with her own views of his issues. This makes them both realize that they must confront their own fears before they can have something meaningful together.
The suspense part of the story is very good with some interesting twists. I felt Chelsie's fear and unhappiness when she wasn't able to stop the shooting. A year later, when the gunman has escaped and he seems to be after her, she has her questions about why. When she sneaks away from Scott's protection and ends up in trouble, there is a lot going on that she has to process. The result has her insisting to Scott that she hadn't been in real danger, and that there is more going on than appears on the surface. The resulting investigation shows that she's right, and there's someone else behind it all. The closer they get to finding out, the deeper the danger is to them. Just when I thought everything was solved, another twist had Chelsie in worse danger. I loved seeing how she handled it. I loved the epilogue and how it wrapped things up.

This is the second book in The Lawmen series. The series centers around three friends who grew up in a small, farming town in Indiana. Maggie and Ella were roommates in college and Scott was the protective big brother. All three lives were changed forever the night Maggie was abducted and raped. They made a pact to find the man who committed the attack on Maggie and therefore went into law enforcement.
The author brings us two characters that show both strengths and weaknesses which endeared them to me. The fast paced storyline is full of intrigue and suspense that kept me reading until the end. I love how protective Scott is towards his friends, but I must say it did bother me when he was always putting everyone else first in his life. Chelsie is always judging herself harshly, just like in life, we are usually judge ourselves harder than others do. I am looking forward to reading the 3rd installment, Swat Secret Admirer, in this series which is set to be released in April.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a romance or a good suspense. I was given this book by the author for a honest and unbiased review as stated above.

Second in The Lawmen series and another great page turner!! Meet Chelsie Russell, an FBI negotiator. She is feeling like a failure at the job and thinking she should find another occupation. Then a killer escapes and Chelsie is put under the protection of an FBI sniper who she thinks is king of the one night stand. Can they find the killer first or will Chelsie be next?? Will the sniper, Scott Delacorte, convince Chelsie he is not only interested in a one night stand? This book is full of suspense and romance. I could not put it down until I knew all the answers!

Love this author.Loved the first book in this series.If you like more romance then suspense this is the book for you.I like more suspense then romance so this was not the book for me but still kept me reading.

Seduced by the Sniper is about FBI negotiator Chelsie Russell who ends up falling for FBI sniper Scott Delacorte. Through circumstances that are less than ideal, the pair find themselves thrown together, and Chelsie must forget everything she thinks she knows about Scott and learn to trust him to protect her.
Let me start out by saying I absolutely loved the main characters. Chelsie and Scott were just great characters and were so good together. Some of my favorite moments in the book were when they were talking and arguing with one another. I even really enjoyed the personality that Scott's partner threw into the mix.
So, then if I loved the characters so much why did I only give this book a 2 star review? For me, even though I fell in love with the characters, the book was just OK to me. While I liked the premises of the story, and the writing was good, the story just seemed to be missing something. Too much time seemed to be spent on Chelsie trying to come to term with her feelings, too much time wondering if they even had a case, and then in the end the pieces seemed to fall into place too easily.

Skipped many pages because the book was so boring. The characters were nothing special and didn't really had a connection, they just wanted to sleep together. Then more to the end he says he loves her like wtf how. In the beginning I felt for her because of the "trauma" she went through on the job when she watched people die (but she knew it could happen, it's part of the job) but she had nothing else to her, nothing interesting happened and I lost interest in the plot and in the characters. Lost of time, really.

Seduced by the Sniper is the second in The Lawmen series written by Elizabeth Heiter. I suggest that you read each book in order to fully understand the references to the other characters from book one. In this story we meet Chelsie Russell, a former FBI negotiator and Scott Delecorte who works for the FBI's HRT team. Chelsie has a history with him; they had a one night together which she left early that morning. When the dreadful call came in and since she was closest she took it. A crazed gunman was shooting and killing people. When it was over nine people died only Chelsie survived. This left her feeling like a failure and thinking she should find another occupation.

Quite the exercise in frustration, unfortunately, but that's probably my intense dislike and sheer intolerance of the trope of the bed-hopping player who's trying hard to get reformed (yet still has 'flings') and the instant love that seemed to have developed out of a one night stand. I connected more with Chelsie here, felt her fears more deeply than I could with Scott. The plot was convoluted, but just not enough to be attention grabbing or unforgettable.
I'm quite disappointed really (and that nothing remotely fiery happens in bed after all that build up), especially since I've always thought Elizabeth Heiter does have a mind for crime as well as romantic-suspense writing.

Seduced By The Sniper book #2 in the series ( The Lawmen ) by: Elizabeth Heiter was a book that grabbed you when you started to read the first chapter. Your grabbed by a one night stand turns out very badly by a mass murder from a gun man who left one victim alive and now unsure if she will be able to a a good negotiator for the F.B.I. Until the day when the murder escapes and is after her now in safe hands of a love'em and leave'em hunk and his partner from the F.B.I.'s HRT Squad were they try to find out who is behind it all.

One of the hottest almost love scenes I've ever read ;) I'm loving this series. Ms. Heiter has a wonderfully authentic voice for the romantic suspense genre.
