An invitation to ecstasy...

Dallas reporter Sydney Russell is in desperate need of stress relief. When she and her best friends are invited to spend three weeks in the tropical paradise of St. Mirabelle, it’s just what the doctor ordered. Boasting white-sand beaches and lush rainforests, the beautiful Caribbean island throbs with an unmistakable sensuality…the kind that promises untold pleasures.

The moment Sydney arrives and locks gazes with a breathtakingly sexy stranger, she knows that this will be the vacation of a lifetime. Although Dr. Tristan McCade isn't her usual type, she can't resist the fierce arousal he awakens in her. When he offers her a ride to her luxury resort, she surrenders to their explosive mutual attraction. It's the most reckless thing she's ever done, but her steamy island adventure is just getting started.

As she falls deeper under Tristan’s seductive spell, not only does she lose her inhibitions...she soon finds herself losing her heart. But when her three weeks in paradise are up, will she be able to walk away from the one and only man she's ever loved?

You know that feeling when you read a book and after you're done you run out and try to find EVERYTHING that the author has written because it was just that good? You know the feeling you get when you finally read all of the books and you're really bummed out because there are no more and you anxiously wait and think about stalking the author as you're waiting on the next book? Yeah, that's Maureen Smith and Stay With Me doesn't disappoint.

Dallas is a journalist who takes a vacation with her college girlfriends to the lovely Caribbean island St. Mirabelle. The trip is a gift from one of the friends whose family owns the luxury resort they are staying at. While on the trip she meets a handsome doctor, Thane, and is promptly swept off her feet. Tall, gorgeous, kind and... white. The first white man that Dallas has ever been attracted to.

Thane is the guy that dreams are made of. Great heart, sense of humor and gorgeous face and body. His attraction to Dallas is instantaneous. He has his own mysteries and secrets but at the end of the day he found something he wasn't really looking for, love. Now that he found it he's not ready to let it go.

What do you do when the vacation fling that you stumbled into feels more like forever? Add into that mysteries tied into the relationships among the characters and the island itself and you have Stay With Me.

As usual Ms. Smith writes in a way that allows you to actually feel the tropical breezes of the island. You begin to actually develop a relationship with the characters and I found myself giving Dallas advice just like she was my actual girlfriend.

Although this story is the beginning of a series you still walk away with the feeling that you read an entire story. It's like eating a great meal and feeling stuffed but you want that desert so badly that you go for it anyway. I'm sure that the next books in the series will be the desert but I'm still stuffed. (The story mentions four girlfriends so I'm guessing we are good for at least 2 if not 3 more stories in this series.)

In addition to the romantic theme there are some paranormal references linked into the story and tied to the island history. Not an overall paranormal theme that overtakes the story enough to change the genre but just enough of an appetizer to interest you. More like seasoning used on food. Just enough to enhance.

Overall this is a great read that I would definitely recommend and I am anxiously awaiting the next story.

Whenever author Maureen Smith writes a story, you better be prepared to have your socks and everything else blown completely off. This woman is not a joke and her stories are always fire!!!!!!!!

Sydney Russell and her friends have been invited to the island of St. Mirabelle in the Caribbean by the other best friend Joelle Villenueve to stay at her family's resort. Joelle had been trying to get her friends to come down for years but everyone has been so busy but the stars have aligned themselves perfectly and now Sydney, Mia and Dakota are heading down for the some fun, relaxation and maybe a chance at an island fling. It will be 3 weeks of a much needed vacation for everyone and they can't wait.

Sydney wound up missing her flight because her boss needed her to work on a piece at the last minute, never mind that the imbecile knew she was not only taking vacation but would be gone for a couple of weeks. So now she finally arrives in St. Mirabelle with no luggage because its on another flight and now no transportation to get to the resort because the cabbies have went on strike. Sydney is miserable, tired and ready to decapitate somebody LOL!! But then a gentleman catches her eye and for the first time, she feels her heart, mind, body and soul reaching out towards this man but quickly diverts her eyes and herself away by blaming it on fatigue and the fact she hasn't been with a man in quite sometime but this stranger unbeknownst to her will not be ignored.

Dr. Tristan McCade is the Chief of Surgery at the hospital on St. Mirabelle, everyone knows him and loves him. So it is only natural that he comes to the aid of Sydney whom he spotted and hasn't been able to take his eyes off of her. Tristan offers Sydney a ride to the resort, she in turns says, "You maybe a psychopath or a serial killer". Tristan says, "The jaded mind of American women" LOLL!! Sydney laughs and then accepts his offer of allowing him to take her to the resort especially since he doesn't live to far from where she is staying. And from there on the magic of St. Mirabelle or more aptly known as Ecstasy Island begins to weave its magic lasso around Sydney and Tristan.

St. Mirabelle boasts of a rich historical culture of from its first settler Gaston Rieu who was shipwrecked on the island, to meeting the woman of his dreams, only to lose her years later as he began to build up the island. The island never had a slave nor a slave owner, everyone lived as free men and women. The island weaves wonderful spells of magic by strategically bringing people together whom were meant to be and thus bringing us our first couple of Tristan and Sydney.

There will be two more books in the 3 part "Ecstasy Series", the next story up will be Sylvain (the estranged brother of Tristan and enemies might I add) and Sydney's best friend Dakota, there story is titled "Be With Me" and is part 2. No release date has been given but I can't wait to read their story.

Author Maureen Smith knows how to be bring a story that is so good that you can't put the book down and the love scenes (you better have your fan and air conditioner on, a gallon of ice cold water and your man near by because you are going to need it to put out the flames of sexiness that this author is known for).

Well Until My Next Review Ciao Bellas!

Love, love, love!!!!

I stumbled upon this book today and decided to give it a go. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised.

I come from a French speaking island in the Caribbean that was the shot heard around the world when it came to ending slavery. My island is rich in folklore and magic. My favorite goddess happens to be a black mermaid. So a story set in a fictional place that mirrors my Homeland dealing with a myth surrounding my favorite mythical creature... I am totally here for it.

I know this author takes time to craft her work and for that I am grateful. This series is supposed to a quartet. Here is to hoping the next several books come out quickly because I can't wait to hear how this series ends

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves a bit of paranormal in their romance.

Score: 5/5

Different but I loved it

This was really a great read! It was a but different and even though it was so unrealistic - and I am referring to the relationship and thee way it ends, not the legends - the emotions still felt so real. I can't wait to read Be With Me when that comes out! I'm looking forward to it!

This is my first story by this well known author.

This is Sydney and Tristan’s story. I was really looking forward to this read. I had extremely high expectations from everything I had heard other readers say about this author.

Whilst the book was well written and engaging, it did not meet the high expectations I had of it. There is a lot of heat in the book but I was expecting a lot more romance and dialogue between the couple about their relationship. So I was a little disappointed on that score. However, I was impressed that she visited the double standards that some black people (men and women) have regarding interracial relationships.

I think I will finish the series because I want to find out what happens in Dakota and Sylvain’s relationship.

I'm a big fan of Maureen Smith, read a majority of her books but I just couldn't get into this story.
This being a novella I knew the story would move along quickly, but dang the H/h was having sex within what should I say 15 min. of meeting each another. This really went downhill for me with the BDSM scene at the party and Sydney thinking about a threesome with Tristan and his brother Sylvain. No love connection for me in this one.

Maureen Smith has done it again!!! She always manages to make you fall in love with her characters. Their flaws and conflicts endear them to you all the more and when the book's over you're sad to see them go.

Excellent story which had me gripped from start to finish....

I loved the characters and the banter between the three girls. I love the mystery of St. Marseille island and that the founders of the island stave off the French Army that wanted to colonies it. This story and the explosive heat from Tristan and Sydney's copulation was breathtakingly hot as hell for me! I cannot wait for the next part of the story and hopefully it'll be a full length story not a novella and we can see Tristan and Sydney's wedding as well as how Sylvain and Dakota's relationship develops. An excellent story loved every word!

Love At First Sight Meets Fantasy

A great read. A love at first sight quick romance but with a little twist and a wonderful history lesson. Which adds a fairy tale element to the story.
A woman and her friends take a vacation together. She is the first to meet a handsome lover. There's no overwrought angst just two people finding their way to each other. Plenty of steamy sex and tender romance. Maureen wove the perfect elements into this romance and it was a lot of fun! There is a touch of realism where our MC has to deal with the whole swirl thing but it isn't over done or predominant in the story which I appreciated.

Great read

Wow. This boon was amazing. I love the relationship between Sydney and Tristan. It was intense from the moment they met but it didnt feel rushed or forced. The love scenes were hot and plentiful but not too many. Great read. I would say I can't wait for the next one but it might not be out until the end of 2020 so I guess I'll have to

This story was one that I truly enjoyed, was looking forward to reading the next book in this series; but Maureen Smith informed me that she has not written it and her hopes is that some day she will.

First let me say how ecstatic I am that Maureen finally started writing IR. I love all her work and this story is no different. Three best friends Sydney, Dakota, and Mia depart for a 3 week long vacation but little do the know they are in for a ride of their lives. Tristan is an Alpha sex on wheels. He and Sydney embark on a whirlwind love affair what I like to call insta-lust/love. Maureen brings the heat in this book with those two. ( the love scenes are off the chart) Even though this is a series this book ends with a HEA but leaves the reader wanting more. I just wish I got more relationship development from the two main characters. Poor Sydney had an emotional upbringing her family is a hot mess and needs to be checked quick. I'm glad to see Sydney overcome some of her self-esteem issues in this story. Not that Tristan doesn't have his own baggage the kind that keeps showing up and cuddling up right under her BFF Dakota. I'm glad Maureen addressed some of the racial stereotypes by using pop culture references. All in all this is a hot read with some laugh out loud moments. Good job Maureen I can't wait to see what else you have in store.

Now let's get into why I loved the full book...

This book was exactly what is was touted to be, a quick, hawt summer read.  Tristan and Sydney was passionate and intriguing in true Maureen Smith style.  It was so hawt it made this true die-hard NBABM wanna swirl herself.  I look forward to continuing the story with Sylvain and Dakota.  And let me just put it out there that Sylvain reminded me of Naomi Chase's Dominic, which is NOT a good thing for him.   I will do my best not to hold that against him in his book. All I wanna know now is how long am I gonna have to wait for their story?

In need of a vacation from her hectic life, Sydney meets up with her two best friends on the tropical island of St. Mirabelle. In a chance encounter, she meets good Samaritan, Tristan who offers more than just a helping hand. As Sydney learns about the mystical island and it's inhabitants, she finds herself enjoying more than just rest and relaxation.

I enjoyed this read more than I thought I would. I haven't read IR much but I didn't doubt M.S would make it a good read. This is a novella, but very long considering shorts I have read recently. The plot gave history filled with folklore made up by M.S. I totally enjoyed that aspect as my island too has many myths and legends so I could totally relate there. I enjoyed that the characters were well developed and very true to themselves. I liked that certain topics on race was brought up without the world ending; some people make talking about it such a taboo thing. I rarely like instantaneous relationships but I got why it was used in this series.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED 👍👏💕

This was a great and lovely about Tristan and Sydney's love for each other. This is my third time reading this book, and been waiting for a few years now for book 2. I have written Maureen Smith a few times but getting the same answer every time, which is not much. I saw a few weeks ago for pre order for book 2,but did not a few days ago I tried to find it but couldn't. Am I the only one out there that want to read the rest of the books in this series? When will we see them Miss Smith? Just saying I really loved and enjoyed book 1. Thank you. 💕👍⭐

Much better.

Thoroughly enjoyed this story and cannot wait for the next book in the series with all disclaimers noted since Sylvain seems to be a freak and I wonder how far the author will go with that character. What was the scene in the elevator about and when the h was asked about her looking at Sylvain, she pretended ignorance???? Hot sex, limited preaching, cool h and H, great friendships and interesting historical perspective. All in all, a very enjoyable read.

Paradise

This story is beautiful, at first I quickly thought I was not going to like it. I am pretty glad to say I was wrong. Sydney I visiting this beautiful Caribbean island with her friends. She misses her flight, airplane misplaced her luggage. And Tristan saves the day. He is handsome, charming and a doctor. They started out in a hot steamy romance and it blooms into way more. Enjoy getting lost in paradise

This is a magical story. It had to be, in order for me to continue reading it after Sydney and Tristan had road-side sex, 15 minutes after they met! Really??? And there are no words for that BDSM masquerade party. But underneath all of the madness, Maureen Smith knows how to weave a beautiful story in a lush Caribbean paradise. Nicely done!
