Do you know the legend of Halloween? Three Little Werewolves live on the outskirts of a town called Skullvilla. They are powerful and important. On October 31st when the sun goes down, the werewolves must howl into the night sky to awaken the moon and signal Halloween to begin. If this doesn’t happen, it will not get dark. And you know what that means…there will be no Halloween since no one goes trick-or-treating in the daylight. * * * * * * * * It is All Hallows’ Eve and Sebella, Drac, Prudence, Kendall and Grandma are having their annual dinner at the Black Cat Café. All the magical creatures from Skullvilla are there. The Fangs, Frankie and Francesca Stein and their little monsters, the Invisible Man and his curvy mummy date and of course, Bones. Nothing out of the ordinary… until a hairy paw appears and grabs Grandma! Could the hairy paw belong to one of Three Little Werewolves? Is the Legend of Halloween true? Can they find Grandma? Will there be a Halloween this year?
Even though Thea Berg was born to “human” parents, she always knew she was part of the magical world. Having grown up in a small town without much to do, her imagination ran wild, and tales of bewitching adventures filling her head. Thea currently lives in the enchanted land of Los Angeles, CA. The Magical World of Sebella is her first children’s book.
Overall this was a fun read. Great for lower-middle grade readers. Very imaginative. I really liked the description of the candy garden. I could see this turned into a fun little movie. The writing was good and it was a quick read. Storyline was relevant and interesting. There were a couple parts in the plot I found unnecessary and seeing as this was the second book in the Sebella series it could have used a bit more background summary of the characters and their magical life. But I would read more and recommend it to others. I also liked the little quiz and preview of the first book at the end.
A book that reminded me slightly of Halloweentown, I would recommend this for beginners in chapter books. The chapters are short and it lacked complicated words. Don't forget to check out the first book, "The Magical World of Sebella"
Grandma got kidnapped by a werewolf!
It's all Hallows Eve when Sebella, her little brother Drac, her trouble cousin Prudence, and her best friend Kendall go out with Grandma for their annual dinner at Black Cat Cafe. While there Grandma gets kidnapped! And it's up to them to rescue her!!
Could the legend of Halloween be true?
They say Three Little Werewolves live on the outskirts of their town Skullvilla. They're powerful and important. On October 31st when the sun goes down, the werewolves must howl into the night sky to wake up the moon and signal Halloween to begin. If this doesn't happen, it won't get dark. And if it doesn't get dark there won't be a Halloween since no one goes trick-or-treating in the day time. In the search to find Grandma we will surely find out!
This is the second book I the series and my six year old has requested we go back and read the first. It's a cute entry level magical story with enough suspense to hold the attention of a second of this grader who is new to chapter books I the level of Jack and Annie or the secret of drown. The one thing the book is missing is illustrations to help anchor young readers I the story-- one at the high point of each chapter would work wonders. Over all, my six year old gives this a thumbs up.
Not nearly as long as it's marked. There is no way that book is 132 pages.
Anyway, it is a very cute story set in a half monster town. The kids think a werewolf has kidnapped their grammy very close to Halloween. There just happens to be a legend that says the three werewolves howls bring Halloween in every year, so the kids have to go find their lost grandmother and discover if there is truth to the legend.
They make new friends and learn new things about themselves. It's a cute little story, and I'm sure it would be even better if I had read the first story.
A brilliant quick read for younger kids. We had a few laughs (especially over snails!) and enjoyed the story centred around Halloween. We read as a stand alone, but I would recommend grabbing the first Sebella book to see if it would lift the characters a bit more. As a stand alone, I felt the characters didn't stand out as much as they probably should of.
However it was a fantastically written story and very much enjoyed. Perfect book for kids around Halloween.
I recevied this from my friend who won it in a good reads giveaway.so i read it in exchange for an honest review!!
A cute lil story about friends saving their grandma and learning the story of halloween.any lil kid that like spooky stories will love it!!! Its mostly aimed at around 5th graders!!
Sebella, Drac, and their friends and family have an adventure in Skullvilla. I love the fun questions at the end of the book, kind of reading comprehension for my young daughter. The authors really manages to create the aura of magic and mystery.
I received this book as a first readers giveaway. My daughter (8yrs) and I read this book together and we enjoyed it, learning the legend of Halloween was an interesting version of a myth.
