Will Paul kill Harper, or will someone else beat him to it?
Paul Ricci had no intention of starting a war between criminal syndicates. Especially over a woman. He’d accepted the bounty on Harper Myers’ head out of respect. They had history, and he wanted to give her a death with dignity. Unfortunately, his heart had different plans.
As the daughter of an outlaw biker, Harper was no stranger to the politics of organized crime. Despite removing herself from that lifestyle years ago, and starting anew as a lawyer several states away, coming home to Oklahoma dragged her, kicking and screaming, right back in.
Someone wanted her dead. It wasn’t personal—just business. The man who had once taken a bullet for her intended to put one right between her eyes.
Would Paul, her fling from the past, be her savior or her executioner? Does her heart know the difference?

oh, I devoured this in one sitting! It was exactly what I needed—action-packed, fast-paced, and featuring a hero who genuinely couldn’t decide if he wanted to kill the FMC or wife her. the tension? immaculate.
the storyline felt refreshing, with just the right mix of dark romance and suspense. I honestly didn’t expect the thriller angle to be this addictive. and as for the mystery behind the ordered hit on the FMC? I did not see it coming. I literally gasped when the truth came out.
so satisfying.
many thanks to author for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review
THE WHAT: We finally return to Paul and Harper’s story twelve years later. When Harper’s father begs her to take on a defense case for her ex Dwight, she’s pulled into a twisted and unsettling web of betrayal. At the centre is Paul, the man hired to kill her and the one who may also be her destiny.
THE VIBE: Mafia romance, betrayals, biker gangs, dangerous love interest, anti-hero, morally gray MMC, family loss.
THE HOW: The pacing was solid and the character development was well done. There were plenty of twists and turns that kept me engaged and I loved the more psychological side of the story especially when it came to betrayals.
THE HIT: The plot was interesting from start to finish and the character work was strong. The twists actually landed and the betrayals added a lot to the overall experience.
THE MISS: A few word choices took me out of the story like ‘nubin’, ‘romp’ and ‘chubby’. Also this is purely personal preference but I was not into the main male character being blonde (sorry I am a tall, dark and handsome girlie).
THE REC: If you like mafia romance with twists and morally gray characters this one is worth picking up.
THE OVERALL: I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to my followers.
The storyline is good, and I can see what the author was going for, but I had a hard time getting through it. There were quite a few scenes that felt cluttered. And Paul? He seriously got on my nerves. You’re either obsessed with her or you want to kill her, pick a side, The way he kept switching between the two while acting like a complete asshole didn’t help either.
DE-FUCKING-VOURED!!! I could not put this book down once I started!!
Let’s start with the fact that I am a short chapter whore and this book delivered!! I love short chapters because they’re like Skittles, you eat one and then you think “Oh, one more is probably fine” and then you’ve eaten the whole bag…short chapters work the same way! I loved being able to inhale the bite-sized chapters over and over again because they kept sucking me in!
I love Mafia romances. I love MC romances. Put them together, and BAM! I’m a happy camper. This mash up of the genres was fantastic and definitely helped with a bit of the Romeo and Juliet feel, which is never bad in my books.
I loved their chemistry!! GOD DAMN was it HOT!!! Not only did their back and forth in general sizzle, but the spice was sooooooooo good! It was also quick to start (no making us wait until the 80% mark 😉), which I appreciate.
Speaking of the characters, they were each amazing. I’ve never really been into clean-cut blonde guys, but Victoria Jayne has converted me! I loved how Paul not only knew from the beginning that he wasn’t going to be able to go through with it, but he took every opportunity to tend to her wounds and take care of her in every way possible. *SWOON!* I also loved that he told her relatively soon after they reconnected what was going on. It was not a situation where he kept a lie from her until the very end leading to a 3rd act breakup, which was so refreshing! And Harper was a freaking BADASS!! She took absolutely nothing laying down and had the most grit I’ve seen in an FMC in a long time. I want to be Harper when I grow up: smart, dedicated, professional, yet covered in tattoos and can stab your dick with the best of them 🤣
I’m completely obsessed with this series and I can’t wait to see what book 2 brings!
Thank you to Victoria Jayne for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.
So I read the prequel novella to this book ‘Fling of Hearts’ which gave us a bit of context surrounding Paul and Harper’s history and ever since I have been craving more and let me say this book delivered.
From meeting Harper previously I knew I loved her, this woman is feisty and certainly doesn’t take things lying down. Normally in mafia romances the FMC can come off innocent, and I love those types of books also but when the FMC bites back it just hooks me in even further.
Now, Paul and Harper are brought back together again when he is sent after her to remove her from the chessboard. You definitely see a lot of Paul’s inner struggle and conflict here, Harper was and still is a woman he cares about but deep down he knew from when he was even assigned that he wasn’t going to go through with it.
The chemistry between this couple is undeniable, no matter how much time has passed and their back and forth and banter is absolutely top tier.
Thank you so much to the author who provided this e-arc for my honest thoughts 💭
This is Harper and Paul’s story. He is supposed to take her life. But he wants her and has trouble figuring out if he is going to take her life or keep her for himself. He goes back and forth on his decisions a few times. But in the end will he just want her? Who ordered the hit in the first place? Can he get away with not doing the hit? Or will they both lose out in the end?
-mafia romance -kidnapping -second chance -enemies to lovers -opposites attract
this was a little different of a mafia story than what we usually get with harper being a lawyer & basically having a hit put out on her...& all thatttt ensues with that! it was super interesting!
QUEEN OF BLADES is the first instalment in Victoria Jayne’s contemporary, adult DIXIE MAFIA dark, erotic, Mafia / MC romance series. This is thirty-six year old, syndicate heir Paul Ricci, and thirty-three year old, attorney Harper Myers’s story line. Paul and Harper’s story begins in the prequel-FLING OF HEARTS which can be found in the multi-authored charity anthology LUST LOVE AND POKER CHIPS.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there WILL BE triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Harper and Paul) QUEEN OF BLADES picks up approximately twelve years after the events of FLING OF HEARTS in which, Harper Myers found herself in a three week affair with Paul Ricci, the son of the Mafia Don Joseph Ricci. Fast forward to present day, Harper is currently the assistant district attorney for North Carolina, and our heroine has been targeted by an unknown threat, someone who is willing to pay to end her life. Accepting the contract to take down the woman who had previously stolen his heart, Paul finds himself on the run with Harper Myers, and a potential war between the MC and the criminal underworld including the Irish Mob, Italian Mafia, and the Columbian Cartel.
The world building focuses on the search for the truth. Someone is taking aim at our story line couple, and Paul is desperate to uncover the who, how and why but no amount of protection will keep Harper safe, when the person targeting our heroine is someone she knows. Oklahoma is no longer safe, and Harper finds herself on the run.
The relationship between Harper and Paul is one of second chances; a rekindling relationship in which Paul is determined to protect the woman with whom he had fallen in love. Twelve years, both had changed but the heart remembered what happened years before, The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative.
The secondary and supporting players are energetic and questionable. We are reintroduced to Paul’s brothers Eddie and Sam, as well as their father Joseph Ricci, the head of the syndicate aka Dixie Mafia; several members of the Roughneck Riders MC including Harper’s father Snoopy Oberlin, her brothers Weston and Colt Oberlin, and sister Remi Myers, and as well as ex Dwight ‘Diesel Delaluz.
QUEEN OF BLADES is a story of obsession and madness, secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The premise is dramatic, dark and gritty; the romance is fated and impassioned; the characters are dangerous yet charismatic.
Queen of Blades is a riveting start to the new “Dixie Mafia” series. The author crafts a compelling story that griped me from the very first page. You definitely need to read the novella “Fling of Hearts” first. It gives background information on this couple.
At the heart of this thrilling tale is Paul and Harper, two characters whose history complicates their present. (If you’ve read their prequel “Fling of Hearts” you will understand their history.) Paul is a complex (almost anti) hero (my favourite kind 😜) grappling with the moral implications of his choices, especially when it comes to the bounty placed on Harper’s head. His initial decision to end her life is steeped in both respect and tragedy, reflecting the dark world he inhabits. (His attraction to her hasn’t waned!)
Harper, on the other hand, is fierce and resilient. The daughter of an outlaw biker, she has successfully distanced herself from her past, only to find herself back in its clutches once more. Her return to Oklahoma is fraught with tension and danger as she gets to grips with the attempts on her life.
The stakes are high, and the tension is relentless as Paul wrestles with his conscience and Harper fights for her life. The impending sense of doom only adds layers to the story. With unexpected twists and turns, the plot remains at a steady pace and the suspense only adds to the emotional stakes for both characters.
The chemistry between Paul and Harper is electric, igniting with every interaction. Their history adds depth to their relationship, making their current predicament all the more poignant. The author expertly blends romance with action, creating moments that sizzle with tension and longing.
In conclusion, Queen of Blades is an outstanding start to a new (and long 😉 series.) That combines gripping action, well thought out characters, and a tumultuous romance that explores the complexities of love amidst chaos. A crime saga and a heartfelt exploration of second chances (not usually a favourite trope I must admit) but I could t put the book down!
For fans of organized crime stories and passionate romance, this book is an absolute must read. It’s now left me waiting for the next installment in the Dixie Mafia series.
🦋
This is a Dark Mafia Romance 🖤 strong sexual scenes 🖤 violence 🖤 domestic abuse 🖤 kidnapping
A couple of months ago I read the prequel novella "Fling of Hearts," which introduced us to our main characters, Harper and Paul.
I gotta say that when I read that novella I got instantly hooked and wanted to read the continuation to their story as soon as possible.
And now that I finally got time to read it, I can confidently say that I wasn't disappointed at all.
I really felt intrigued with the plot when I got to read the blurb and once I got the full scope of it I was immersed in the story entirely.
It was so fun to get inside this mafia world again and read how our two main characters still maintain that fiery chemistry between them, even though they haven't seen each other for over ten years.
Everything was as if no time had passed.
The reunion between these two was what I expected. You could feel the attraction instantly and get to read their back and forth was just chef kiss.👩🏻🍳💋
You get to see the real struggle and conflicting emotions Paul has when he discovers Harper is back in town and that she has a target on her back.
He is the one that needs to end her but he will soon find out that even after all those years, he has a soft spot for her, could never get to hurt her and that he will do anything in his power to protect her.
As I said before the chemistry between these two is off the charts and it was really funny to see the real struggle that Paul was having, not knowing if he would end up killing Harper or just claim her for himself.
Harper was just the same baddie that I remembered and I loved that she got to be what she wanted since the beginning...a lawyer
This book was addictive, fast-paced, full of action, had the perfect amount of 🔥 and it had me on my toes.
I wanted to find out who was the one that put the target on Harper and let me tell you that once I found out I was a little in shock and I didn't saw it coming at all.
Now, if you want something with the next things be sure to give "Queen of Blades" a chance!
💜 Mafia Romance 💜 Opposites Attract 💜 Woman in Peril 💜 Second Chance
The first half of this book was rough for me, but it found its groove in the last half.
Having already read the prequel short story for the series (see review below), I was familiar with Paul and Harper, as well as their dynamic. I was as shocked as Harper that her father was able to convince her not only to come back to her hometown to help with a legal matter, but also to help her ex-boyfriend (not Paul), who was a terrible person in that short story. That, along with Paul having a split personality when it came to how he was treating Harper, had the first half of the story feeling uneven. The rhythm was just off. I felt there was a lot of telling and not enough showing when it came to the chemistry between Harper and Paul.
When this couple was together, talking and bantering, I felt their attraction. It’s the times they would get too in their own heads, especially Harper, that the momentum of the story would be lost. Harper is a spitfire and thinks fast on her feet. I loved her wit and sass, especially when dealing wth Paul and his brother together.
Let me be clear, the author has a dedication that says, “For everyone whose favorite color is red flag.” Which is not me. That doesn’t mean this book isn’t for me at all. There were many aspects of the story and the characters that I enjoyed. But it was never going to be a story that would knock me off my feet. Paul is on the darker side of morally grey. Until that halfway mark in this book, when he finally chose a side, I had a hard time with him. He would get annoyed with Harper for fighting and being obstinate, but the dude admitted he was hired to kill her and hadn’t made up his mind about if he was going to go through with it. What did he expect?
I don’t know how I feel about many of the characters in this series and if they’ll eventually grow on me, but I did like Paul’s brother and am interested in reading his book. I may not agree with how dark grey these characters are, but I do love how much they support each other within their own family.

😭Fuckkkk, that was hell of a rollercoaster. Everything was going so well the twists were thickening plot perfectly. Paul and Harper reuniting! The spice was spicing! The chaos was in place. I was fully invested and enjoying reading...
... until it all came crashing down. Like WTF WAS THAT?!😭
With 20 pages left, my heart has never shattered so fast😭 A major fucking plot twist did that💔, there's only so much emotional damage a girl can take! I remember mentioning Harper's ex in my review for the prequel, and right now I'm enraged. I want to freaking unalive him myself!
Fuck Harper didn't deserve that😭 My girl only wanted a peaceful life away from the criminal world!
The only thing that kept me sane was knowing Harper is feisty and a fighter and that her man would take that as a declaration of war which he did, even if it meant everything burning down in the aftermath.
And leave it to Victoria to have some chaotic scenes that are funny when I'm sure as hell they shouldn't be. I'm loving that about her books! Chapter 40 is my favourite😂😂
I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. If you love mafia romance i recommend it!
🎀Fav Quotes: ✨️“You’ve got me so out of sorts, I can’t breathe. I started a goddamn war because of you.” ✨️They were both criminals. One just dressed better and was far more calculated. God help her, she ate that shit up. ✨️“Stay still, my queen, so I can worship you properly,” ✨️“This peace we have right now won’t last, but I want to cherish it, and you, forever.”

Picking up 12 years after the events of Fling of Hearts, Harper has established herself as a lawyer, distancing herself from her family's criminal ties by relocating to another city. However, circumstances pull her back home to help, throwing her into the very world she tried to escape.
As the daughter of the president of an MC, Harper is no stranger to the drama of an MC. Despite her efforts to stay away, returning home gets her wrapped up once again in the dangerous mess of her past.
Paul, a man who has a history with Harper, accepts a bounty on her head out of respect, intending to offer her a kinder end. But his feelings complicate things, leading him to question his every move. And during all the drama starts to realize that he feels more than he thought he did for Harper.
While there are spicy scenes, the story focuses more on plot than spicy content. It’s fast-paced and packed with mafia and MC-style chaos.
Harper is portrayed as a strong-willed FMC who refuses to back down without a fight. Paul is the kind of man who’s not afraid to get his hands dirty for his family. This is a second-chance romance that promises a well-earned happily ever after.

I was honestly stunned by all the action packed in such a small-sized book! But it was really fun to read and it took me close to nothing to finish 😱 big thanks to the author for emailing me and offering a review copy of Queen of Blades ❤
At first, I truly didn't know what to make of Paul because, the guy had literally tracked Harper for one reason, which was to end her life. His logic about letting her keep her "Pride" while doing so kinda threw me for a loop 🤣 But after much thinking, it was pretty clear that he never intended to execute that plan. It seemed like he was struggling to decide whether he wanted to end it and claim the reward, or throw caution to the wind and protect her with all his might; in the end, he went with the latter.
Harper left her criminal family behind to work on the right side of the law. She was brought back, much to her dismay, to defend a worthless guy, then her life went upside down starting from there 💔 She went through a nightmarish experience, grieved all that she'd lost, and at last, she chose to give people whom the law had failed a shot. I admired her bravery and wisdom. It must've been difficult to turn her back on everything she'd worked so hard to accomplish, but her reasoning made sense and was respectable ❤
I really liked how Paul and Harper's relationship developed ❤ They were acquainted, but they really got to know each other on a much deeper level after that bounty was set in place.
Harper's dad is the local MC Leader and a selfish prick. He asks his daughter to come home and defend the club VP, who is also the man who abused Harper years before. Her dad needs her, so she helps. Then she runs into Paul. A ghost of her past, a good ghost that she longed for. It doesn't take long for Harper to figure out what is going on and that Paul is the only one who can help. All the feelings she had for him are there, and she has no reason to leave. Can Paul and his mafia family keep her safe? What about her family? The club VP?
The girl that got away - yep, that's Harper. Now she's back and with a price. Paul can't let her go, so he decides to keep her. But first, he needs a plan. A plan that she will agree to and that will work. He'll protect her with his life if need be. She's his and no one else can have her. Together they work their way through the web to find the truth. Is it enough to save Harper? To keep her safe and alive?
This is a lite mafia book. Nothing confusing and you meet the Mafia families, as well as some MC people. It's not overwhelming or confusing with too many people. I blew through this book in one day, because I couldn't put it down. I'm so ready for book #2!!!
After reading the novella Fling of Hearts, I was intrigued to see what would happen with Harper and Paul considering how hot they burned when they were together. So you can imagine how my eyebrows raised upon reading the description for this book and just how they would “reconnect” but, I was intrigued and lemme tell you, they definitely took me on a wild ride.
I have to say that I loved Harper. She is feisty and caring and is not one to back down. Paul is all kinds of red flags vibe mixed with a lot of golden retriever energy which made it hard to not like the man. Their journey is definitely unique, and though they both make questionable decisions, one cannot deny the chemistry between them and they find that even when the odds are against them, they just can’t let each other go.
This was a fun read. It is in the 3rd person, not an issue for me, but I know that it’s pertinent for some. While this is a mafia series and there are some situations that can be triggering, this book wasn’t as dark as some I’ve read, so just be prepared when the crazy happens. Now to wait to see what will go down in the next book in series!

As much as I enjoyed the storyline, I struggled with the characters themselves. Both leads made sense in the novella from twelve years earlier as being immature, naive and ruled by their emotions. It was odd to have that same thought process and action applied to fully developed adults. I also really struggled with repetitive words (the FMC's tattoo's are mentioned a comical amount of times) and some of the descriptions during intimate scenes (I'm not sure I'll ever find "nubbin" to be a hot word.)
Either way, the storyline was entertaining, there were some darker elements after about 80% of the story that added depth and were really enjoyable, but the characters were just a bit too immature and underdeveloped, and the trauma inflicted on the FMC was so late in the game that we didn't get to really see her grow and change and come out of it stronger due to a time jump. If you're looking for a lighter read, with typical mafia elements that doesn't involve too much emotional investment, this is the perfect read. If you like something a bit heavier you may find this to be a more middle-of-the-road book as I did.
Thank you to the author, Victoria Jayne, for the complimentary copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Queen of Blades is the first book in the Dixie Mafia series. It's the full story of Harper and Paul as adults. Harper left Oklahoma and became an assistant district attorney in North Carolina. When her father requests a favor, she finds herself back in Oklahoma defending her ex-boyfriend. Before she has a chance to leave, Paul materializes, and they pick up almost like there hadn't been so many years since they last saw one another. Then Paul drops a bombshell. She's his target. Now there's a race to unmask who put the hit out on Harper and why, before Paul makes his move, or someone else does.
I was pulled into this world through my reading of Fling of Hearts, the prequel to the series. I could not wait to get my hands on Queen of Blades and getting to see both Harper and Paul as grown-ups. Harper has really done well for herself by achieving her law degree, practicing as an Assistant District Attorney, and fleeing the Roughneck Riders. Her loathing for Diesel, the ex, is strong and believable. The chemistry between Harper and Paul is electric and arcs off the pages.
I didn’t just read this book. Queen of Blades brought me back to life.
After weeks of not being able to finish a single page stuck in one of the deepest reading slumps of my life this Book was like a beacon of light. From the Very first chapter, I could feel the love of reading again. The characters, the world-building, the bit of intensity… every page pulled me in a little deeper.
Victoria Jayne’s writing is magnetic. She always manages to take you on the best adventures In such a quick way! There’s a rawness and emotion here that didn’t just entertain me—it reached me. I laughed, I clenched my jaw, I turned the last page and sat in silence for a moment just to hold on to what I felt. She never fails to leave me soeechless
If you’ve ever lost your love for reading, this is the kind of book that can bring it back. I didn’t expect it to become like a lifeline, but that’s exactly what it was.
Queen of Blades didn’t just end my Reading slump—it reminded me why I fell in love with stories in the first place. i can’t wait to read book two.
This was cute, which is a really funny thing to say about a mafia romance.
It’s not required, but I highly recommend that you read this book after the novella that comes before it because we meet these characters there. Events that happen in the novella are discussed in the novel, and while you don’t need to read it for everything to be clear/make sense, I recommend it just because you’ll be connected to these characters and have greater insight into why they do what they do.
Paul is such a sweetie. He’s this big bad hitman, but really, he just wants to keep his family (and woman) safe. If you read this book for no other reason, read it to meet Paul.
This book is satisfying, spicy, full of drama, and absolutely perfect for fans of the mafia romance drama. The cat and mouse vibes take this book to a whole other level.
Thank you very much to Victoria Jayne for an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own and are not influenced by the manner in which I received it.
Queen of Blades is very much mafia meets bikers, and it delivers on the chaos in the best way. There’s a deep history woven throughout the story, and that shared past adds real weight to every interaction. I especially loved the dynamic between Paul and Harper; their connection, the complicated history they carry, and the second chance they’re given to figure things out. Is it a little messy and tangled at times? Absolutely. But that’s exactly what makes it so fun to read.
This book is packed with twists and turns, and when things hit, they hit fast. The story goes from zero to one hundred in no time, keeping me on my toes the entire way. There’s constant tension, nonstop action, and plenty of moments that made me sit back and think, well damn. Honestly, it’s everything you want from a mafia meets biker romance and then some. 🫶
Thank you to Victoria Jayne for providing me with a copy of this book. This review is entirely my own
📚 Queen of Blades (Dixie Mafia #1) 🖋 Author ~ Victoria Jayne 🖋 Features: Mafia Romance, Short Story ⭐️ Rating: 5/5
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Harper & Paul 💎 Enemies to Lovers ♠ Protective Hero 💎 Insta-Heat ♠ Mafia Romance 💎 Strong Woman ♠ Jealous Ex
She didn’t back down and would never surrender.
WOW! I absolutely loved Harper! She’s an incredible FMC. She reinvents herself, bravely striking out on her own to escape her 1%er biker family. Not interested in being someone’s old lady, Harper gets as far away from the Rough Riders MC as she can—until a favor for her father finally pulls her back home… and straight into Dwight “Diesel” Delaluz’s waiting arms.
Luckily for Harper, she’s got brains, determination, an iron will… steel in her hand—and Ice Pick Paulie—at her side. Even after twelve years apart, Harper and Paul are still insta-hot for each other, and their chemistry absolutely burns off the page.
I read the prequel to the story and fell in love with the characters. I always love a good second chance romance. Add Mafia and Gangs and I’m even more in love with the stories. This book was hot from start to finish. Paul is head strong and knows what he wants and will do anything to get it. When Harper comes back to do a favor for her dad, his life is turned upside down. No one takes out Harper but him. She deserves better than a cold blooded assain. It should be sweet and personal, but things go wrong and he takes out a rival it becomes a cat and muse chase to keep her alive. The spice is perfect the characters are realistic and relatable. The banter between the two is spot on and the plot twists and turnss keep the ready hot and heavy with every page. Victoria Jayne gets better with each book. No matter the genre she nails it every time. She is a goto author for sure.
This is the first book I have read from this author and it was an enjoyable read. I found this book to be a lighter mafia read but still just as good. Paul is a fixer and when a job comes in he grabs it specifically since it involves Harper the one that got away. Paul is a cinnamon roll of a man for Harper but with a twist. Harper is feisty and doesn't back down, a woman who was raised in an MC but wanted to live a different life. The story is fast paced with twists, betrayals, action and suspense. The Chemistry Paul and Harper have is hot and when she submits it tames his wild behaviors. The story will grab your attention and keep you reading. Would definitely read another book by Victoria Jayne. I was given this book as an ARC for my honest review.
This is a great Mafia/MC romance that will pull you straight in. We have Paul a member or Mafia who is one of the Many Members of different crime families that is hired to take out a Lawyer named Harper the daughter of a MC Gang that moved away to get out of that life. Coming back home was a dangerous act that she didn’t know she was about to come face to face with. Paul and Harper have a past now Paul must follow the duties of his Family, or protect the very woman is hired to kill. This is a second chance romance, opposite sides of the track, forced proximity, criminal underworld story that has a great plot. Character development was amazing, lays a great foundation when it comes to the crime syndicate which i love. I really enjoyed this story highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What happens when the daughter of a MC president doesn't want to be part of the life, even more interesting what if she wants to be a lawyer? That alone could make for an interesting read, but what if... she also once had feelings for a mafia man, a man now back in her orbit but for all the wrong reasons. While I found the story a little slow it did build to a horrifying but successful conclusion, with a bit of spice along the way. I really struggled with some of the physical abuse, particularly at the MC, and it has its fair share of fights and gore, but was overall very engaging. It left me wanting more of their stories, so that in itself is a sign of a good read.
This was a fast paced mafia & MC thriller. Not my usual read but well written for its genre. Harper went to law school and became a prosecutor in NC, but at her father’s urging she came back to Oklahoma to defend her old boyfriend Diesel who is now second in command in the MC her father leads. Paul is now the fixer for his family’s mob. He finds out there is an open contract out on Harper, the girl he fell for 12 years ago. Paul takes the contract because he doesn’t want Harper to suffer, but can he kill the girl he still has feelings for? This spicy thriller is filled with morally grey characters. Thanks to the author for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I have never read a book in third person but this one was very good
That story line where they knew each other and after 12 years, they meet again but he’s tasked to eliminate her, and then figuring out who wanted to do that.
Loved the dynamic between the main characters, quick read and fast paced, it’s nice to read a book for a couple of hours, which is not too long or too short and be able to come out very satisfied!
Always loved second chance and enemies to lovers trope and I got it from this! 💜
Victoria Jayne never misses. She could publish her shopping list and I’d be excited 😆
Queen of Blades is everything I love in a book. It was emotional, a bit tense at times and impossible to put down. The world-building is great, the characters are unforgettable, and the chemistry between Paul and Harper even after 12 years? Off the charts.
It’s one of those books that grabs you from page one and doesn’t let go.
If you like fierce fmcs, touch her and ☠️ mmcs and stories that hit hard and stay with you weeks after you’ve read it this book delivers!
This book is like mafia meet bikers. There’s a lot of history between the characters in the story. I enjoyed the dynamic between Paul and Harper. The history they shared, the connection and the second chance they get. Sure is it a little complicated and muddled, of course! But that’s what makes it so fun!
Definitely a lot of twists in turns in this book. A whole lot of shit happens and then goes from like 0 to 100 real quick! Kept me on my toes! Lots of tension, lots of action and lots of blood! What else to expect from a mafia meets biker book!! 🫶
