Love Lasts Forever
By Vikrant Khanna
Review By Ila Garg

Love Lasts Forever is a novel by Vikrant Khanna (Bestselling author of When Life Tricked Me), and is published by Srishti Publishers. The book has an attractive cover designed by Wasim Helal. The bright green color looks lovely and the wedding rings clearly indicating the romance that leads to marriage. The title is tempting, clearly arousing reader interest – Love Lasts Forever… only if you don’t marry your love. The tag line raises a lot of questions and for the answers, we of course have to turn the pages of this beautifully presented book.

The author, Vikrant Khanna is a sailor by profession and a writer by passion. He lives in Delhi with his family. He is also a keen guitarist who composes his own songs and is adept at cooking. Love Lasts Forever is his third novel.

The 248 page book is a perfect quick read where readers will enjoy reading, and not find it boring. I mainly loved the book because of the plot that is so built up really well. In the scenario where Indian Writing Industry is flooded with writers who seldom know how to write, Vikrant Khanna’s Love Lasts Forever changes the perception. Except for few grammatical and spelling errors, it was pretty much a flawless reading!

The urge to reach the climax, kept me hooked all the time. The language and pace is comfortable for all the readers. A satisfactory work by the author.

The too many twists in the plot is just one of the reasons you want to keep turning the pages to find out what happens in Love Lasts Forever. To find out whether or not Ronit will be saved from the pirates, why Ronit gets so engrossed in his captain’s life story, will he ever be able to make up with Aisha, is Aisha really changed, does marriage really change people, is love always lost in marriage,; you will have to read the novel.

If you're looking for love stories, this is a good book. While all love stories end at marriage, this book starts from marriage and this makes it interesting. The book is about what happens between two love birds - Ronit and Aisha after their marriage. In fact, what happens that make Ronit decide to divorce his love ?
Ronit turns to listen to the story of the ship captain Shekhar who also went to a similar kind of situation but then something changed his perception and now, Shekhar is going to try and change Ronit's decision.
The story is quite interesting for author has done a very good job while building anticipation. The length of the story is quite appropriate and I had a really good time reading this book.

Love Lasts Forever, only if you don't marry your love is a story about true love, understanding, mistakes, regrets, sacrifices and a second chance. Do you believe in love at first sight? it is always a curious question. Ronit falls in love with Aisha, in the first meeting at his naval college graduation day. 7 years passed with two love birds sitting at the seashore away from the storms until they decided to board the ship of marriage. Soon after the marriage, the black clouds surrounded their sea of happiness and once who looked like an angel to Ronit became a red-eyed devil and the whole concept of love & marriage became a sham to him.

Ronit found himself regretting every single day to marry Aisha and finally thought of getting a divorce. But before he could have taken the most regrettable decision of his life, he got to listen to the heart wrenching love story of Shekhar, ship's Captain, who still madly loves his wife, after 3 decades, despite having a divorce with his wife, Shikha, just after 6 months of their marriage.

Before Shekhar's story could bring a change into Ronit's life, the pirates hijacked their ship and for the next 11 months, he battled for life somewhere in Somalia, while waiting to know Why Shekhar still loves  his wife.

Amidst chaos away from hope to stay alive, he found out the reason behind the love in 50-year old's eyes. He was shaken to know the depth of sacrifices one has to make to keep their love alive, keep one's happiness above of yourself, and especially how wrongful is to doubt being unloved by your partner.

It is indeed true, quoted by Shekhar - "When you fall in love for the first time, you can never get that person out of your mind for the rest of your life".

The tale makes you realize fortunate are the ones who hold onto their relationship despite storms in their ship of marriage and give it a second chance to sail through even after getting hijacked by the pirates of misunderstanding and doubts.

A must-read  to find out If Love lasts forever or not?, if you marry your love ❤️

Author,Vikrant Khanna's "Love Lasts Forever" is a book which has each and every essence to be a love-ego story, actually contains two love stories in it.

The Protagonist, a naval college student, Ronit meets Aisha (sister of his enemy-batch mate Priyank) in his graduation day immediately falls in love with her. After seven years of happy relationship, he gets married to Aisha but soon their life starts to fall apart, bickering for petty things.
Too desperate to get away from his wife, Ronit takes three months of sea voyage (even though knowing threats regarding Somalian pirates) where he hears his Captain's poignant love story. Unfortunately their ship hijacked by pirates, under the hostility of pirates for eleven months, captain's advice, Ronit realizes his mistakes and starts to think once again about life with Aisha...!!!

Author has vividly narrated the Captain's love story which would definitely captivate readers and to shed tears.
And also narrated some weird things such as Ronit and his friend, Joe teasing Priyank..stupid game..retaliation of Prinyank.. and comments such as "Men go shopping to buy what they want;Women go shopping to know what they want " in more humorous way that makes us to laugh.

I would recommend all to read this wonderful love story..!!!

Don’t judge a book by its cover, am familiar with the phrase, but still I made a grave mistake in forgetting it. Here, the cover represent the author, it was only when I went through the work I was able to realize the author’s capability of writing and his potential in gluing the readers to the resonance of love. My misconception was that Vikrant Khanna being a part of such disciplined job, how could he be able to delve deep into passionate love and relationships, the reason I purchased the book its self was the line Love Lasts Forever: Only If You Don't Marry Your Love, what made the author say so was that haunted me. But I was taken aback after completing it and I intentional say sorry to him for my misunderstanding.
The book outcasts two love stories one of Ronit and the other of Shekhar. Both with their own significance, importance of family in married life, sacrifice of the newlywed, love from childhood to adulthood, exhibition of pure love and so. The author has narrated even the minute aspects and has well laid the plot. His writing style is simple and understandable to all walks of people. The interchange of the past and present situations decked in chapters are intelligently plotted, and his foxy title is another catchy treat for the readers.

A very realistic story about a young couple. I personally beleive that the things happening in this story may happen in one's love life. You know love can be unpredictable and it's consequences too. At last it is a very simple story with so many emotional ups and downs the only thing which i missed in this is that the story can be more psychologically strong overall it's just fine , if you want to read something which is short and not so complicated then it could be a option for you.

The plot is coherent; traversing back and forth in time is interesting. But the book is lengthy. There’s redundancy, so much that it gives away the story fairly soon :(

Good book. Easy to read. Very well described the events. Couldn't keep down the book in the starting but the end was not so up to the mark. Could have been better.

Read this years ago. An average read with two storyline. However the second storyline of captain feels inspired from Erich Sehgal's Love Story.

"LOVE LASTS FOREVER only if you don't marry your love" .
one word for the book - SuperblyMended (Well I combined two words, because I said one).
.
The first reason to buy this book was it's tagline. I liked it, or maybe I loved it. I regret not starting it before the book which I purchased with it, which I particularly didn't liked because of certain reasons. but I like LLF because it's story line is amazing. It was my first book from that author Vikrant Khanna and I was didn't fully engaged in the book from the very starting but it was interesting of course but because of my studies I wasn't able to give it proper time that's why I took so long time, starting from November to ending in February. But actually I finish more than 70% part of the book in February alone and I wouldn't lie that I actually cried in one of its part which is very sensible. and I even tweeted about this to the author on Twitter and he is very good/kind, he responded me and he told me some facts about the book which I asked him, not major, but minors..
The book is amazing, revolves around a man in his twenties and a man in his fifties, sharing their love stories and major issues with their life. and the most important part is that part, which made me cry.

Love lasts forever is a love story of Ronit, a Merchant Navy Officer and Aisha. They meet at the graduation ceremony at Ronit’s Naval college and the eighteen year old falls in love. After seven years of being in love, they get married. But they fall out of love in just seven days of marriage. He feels a complete change in his lady love- as if she has developed horns and turned into a devil.
Ronit leaves in a ship for work and to escape from his wife. Unfortunately their ship is hijacked by pirates and they are under the hostility of pirates for eleven months. As he begins to think of filing a divorce with Aisha if he gets back home, he listens to Shekhar’s – the Captain of the Ship’s eternal love story. Is it going to make a difference to Ronit who has already lost hope and belief in love?
It’s been some time since I have read a book with male protagonist and I loved how the story flowed. I didn’t like Ronit at the first place, may be because his thoughts about women were clichéd. He believes that it’s his wife’s fault that their relationship has gone to a downfall after the wedding. He feels why she couldn’t “adjust” to the tantrums thrown by her SIL/MIL? He couldn’t even think that the poor girl has left her home and needs time adapting. He feels as if she was after his money and wanted a perfect honeymoon in an expensive, exotic location and that all she wanted to do was shopping with all his hard-earned money. I concluded that the writer was just another chauvinist who vented his feelings through his writing. I was mistaken at the end, though. And I soon realized that most of the men who I know, are like him and after all, it is Ronit’s story and his perspective.
I loved the captain’s story, it is intriguing and makes you feel warm and mushy. Joe Singh- Ronit’s coursemate, his best buddy- is another main character to look forward to in the book .
Easily paced, you can read it in a few hours. There is humour, love and laughter. The author clearly puts forth the message that when ego prevails, love is lost. The language is simple and lucid making it an interesting read.
The cover page is attractive as well.
These few quotes from the book made me smile.
” It’s not too hard to keep a woman happy. All they want is your love, care, support, and apparently a good ear”.
“I rose and reached out for her hands. We’d never walk without that; our fingers are always intertwined in each others. I thought our hands were made for each other too. In the many years I’d known her, I must say that I have literally felt her hands grow in size”.
“How can someone be so much in love that everything in his life revolves around that person he loves? And why do these feelings never cease, instead flourish with each passing day?”

The title of the book affirms that love can last forever.
At 18, Ronit a freshly minted graduate from the Naval college in Mumbai meets Aisha. Aisha – the sister of his arch-nemisis. He falls head-over-heels in love. Aisha also feels the same. They spend 7 long years dating and finally tie the knot. They move into Ronit’s family home in Delhi. Marriage doesn’t agree with them. They fight. Aisha heads back to Mumbai and Ronit finds a job on an oil-laden ship navigating the Somalian waters. Ronit is depressed and shares his woes with Shekar, the ship captain. Shekar urges him not to give up on true love.Shekar shares his love story. One filled with being orphaned, wooing the girl, marrying her and finally divorcing her. Only after divorce he comes to know that his ex-wife had cancer and she pushed him away. Ronit gets back on land. Makes up with Aisha. Happily ever after.
The book is told from Ronit’s point of view which is quite unique in this genre. I liked how the story flowed. The author takes us between scenes in ease and the plot moves along with ease.
I don’t gravitate to the romance genre much.It is so easy to fall in to the cliched route and make your characters appear shallow. The book suffered because of that. The lead characters seem to lead a one-dimensional life with no focus on reality. The mother who doesn’t seem to take an interest in her son’s life, a sister (who coincidentally has marital problems when Aisha moves in and resolves them as soon her brother reconciles with his wife), a wife who moves back home but doesn’t file divorce papers or read the news about a hijacked ship – the book has enough potholes.
What holds this book together and prevents it sinking like Titanic is Khanna’s clear writing and the relatively unknown settings on a ship that has been hijacked.
This book would make a great beach read.
I received a free copy of this book for review. All opinions are my own.

When Ronit meets Aisha at the graduation ceremony at his naval college, the eighteen year old immediately falls in love. So much so that he befriends his batch-enemy in order to reach out to her. After seven years of blissful relationship, they get married. But marriage turns out to be the thorn in Ronit’s life as he feels a complete change in his lady love. Constant bickering and nagging drives Ronit to a three month voyage on the sea. First his captain’s love story and then eleven months in the hands of the Somalian pirates, changes the way Ronit looks at his life and marriage.

The first thing about this book that catches the reader’s attention is its narration style. The author tells us the story through the present and alternately going back to the past through flashback. This switching timeline of the story makes it interesting to read. It also helps in connecting to the protagonist by seeing both a younger Ronit’s (mis)adventures and a more matured Ronit’s experiences. Though at first I felt as if Ronit’s reaction to his wife was overdramatic, I soon realized that I needed to see things through Ronit’s POV instead of a woman’s POV. I have to say that I absolutely fell for the captain’s story – more so than that of Ronit’s. The characters were well fleshed out and the plot is very much likeable. I do not know much about Somalian Pirates other than the headlines they made – and I wish the author had delved deeper into that aspect of the plot.

Easy pace and simplistic language helps a reader not only to easily get ‘into’ the book but also maintain interest throughout. I liked how the author handled and portrayed the nuances of a relationship telling us that end of the day it is indeed trust and understanding that keeps it alive. However, the ending could have been dealt in a better manner.

Buy 1 get 1 free. 2 Love stories in 1 book :) The concept of swinging back and forth in time in this context was good. I don't know if the author got the idea of pirates before or after the movie "Captain Phillips". But a notable amount of story seems to be in parallel with the movie. I cannot believe he actually dragged the captivity period to over a year.

Captain's story was fine and the author justified the story and the characters attached to it. But the Ronit's story is a little too much to take in. There are phrases which are repeated so many times, I think if we remove those extra pieces the book would be way thinner. Like how he wonders on and on about the mistake of the captain, why they divorced etc. Seriously, they appear in every other chapter whenever the ship scene comes into action.

And some vulgar insinuations make the book unromantic. I don't know who would patch up after a near death captivation period with his lover in those circumstances. The author failed at writing a nice reconciliating situation in the end, maybe it's just me who feels so. I mean cheee. Whenever I think of that, I want to give this book a 0 but the other things like Shikha's solemn perception made me think otherwise.

The writing was eloquent.

It was a okay okay read!!
I didn't liked the main charcters story at all.
I was more interested in captain story and I truly admire captain and his wife only..
I am not at all a fan of the main charcters..
They are manipulative ,cunning and bad as fuck..
I found them as assholes( pardon my language).
It was a good book for me when I read it first but after that it seemed to be a worst book ..
It was too much drama for a person like me and it was surely a 1 star read only..

Three stories intertwined and packed in this novel are about two couples and a naval experience gone bad. Set up over a ship’s deck and on an island, the two men narrate their love stories to each other and how marriage changed things. Ronit, a Delhi boy is in love with Aisha, a Mumbai girl and then they get married. What follows is not what is a peaceful life. On the other hand is an old love story (more than three decades older) of Shekhar and Shikha. From being childhood sweethearts to husband and wife, their lives too take an unanticipated turn.

An important message that the book calls out is that relationships change and go through their crests and troughs. The stories are simple, will make you smile and could take you back to your own love lives. If you have been a hostler or a naval cadet, few instances in this story will make you smile and laugh too. I think the love stories could be turned into a TV soap and if Ekta Kapoor is willing to produce, it will run into more than a 1000 episodes. The story has got romance, the saas-bahu-nand angle, husbands and their habits, friends, kid who can drive you nuts and yes even some college fun – in all fun masala daily soap.

Love Lasts forever by Vikrant Khanna, is neither book nor a story; it is a promise of love with your beloved.

This book is a chance to reconsider your love and commitment towards your love. It inspires you to drench yourself deep into love in order to avert the catastrophe of separation. This is so because life never gives us second chance or several instances to mend the broken relationships. So, precaution is better than cure. Hope you have came across this alert at-least once in your lifetime and surprisingly, this applies in love as well.

He takes you along on his voyage and as you share path and destiny with him, you share his happiness to identify love, being committed to it, marrying it and the angst of being separated.

He sets his story on the plot of a journey on seas where his ship gets hijacked and provides him with a chance to revisit his past and identify the problem areas in order to find solutions for the betterment of his relationship with his love..his wife. It is a learning experience for all. No boring script no unnecessary lengthening for covering pages. An interesting read.

Love lasts forever is a combination of love, humor and ego. It is a quick read for a Sunday afternoon. The language of the book is well-spoken and simple. There are two love stories going on in a parallel motion with different time period and with different generations; one is Ronit’s and the other is Shekhar’s, his captain. Believe me once you start reading it you can’t keep it away from you. This book clearly gives a chance to reconsider love, commitment as sometimes we don’t get a second chance.

At first I didn’t like Ronit, perhaps due to his perception on women. He even thought of divorcing his wife. But at last I also fall for this character. I like some lines, when he take advice from his friend Joey Sing, “Men go shopping to buy what they want; but women go shopping to know what they want”.

I love the captain’s love story. It was simple yet has the power to shed some tears from people’s eye. You can feel the warmness in captain’s touching story.

The cover of the book is quite attractive, at first glance I also attracted to its cover.

Romance meets Pirates! Two of my most favorite genres meets. If not for anything else, I’d have to give it to Vikrant Khanna for an original story.

If I could explain the book in one line it would be: Nicholas Sparks Meets Treasure Island.

I’d have to say here that I did not like the protagonist of the book, but he did remind me of many guys that I have met in real life. The attitude that Ronit has towards woman is seen in a lot of men that I used to know.

The best part was when Ronit told his wife that the reason she should adjust is because marriage is not just about two people, it’s also about the family, and she asked him just how many times he had called her parents’ post-marriage. To this he replies that she is changing the subject, how does her parents even come into the picture!

I liked the Captain’s story much more than Ronit’s story, reminded me a little of Eric Sehgal’s love story.

I liked his "the girl who knew to much".
About this one,
Most of characters from ronit's story, are those people whom we see in daily life, and every character is dumb.
Story become daily shop after marriage like come on yr you took the topic that excites lovers and then you just want us to read what tv channels show daily.
In this era, where everyone is talking about women empowerment, vikrant show them as typical house wifes, helpless, depend on male.
Ronit's story has a few really funny moments and that's the thing i like about vikrant's novels, he always enrich it with humor. But story is so so. Nothing excites you or grow hunger to read more.

caption's story is not like we haven't read or heard but still it feels good and keep you stick.

All over book is good read but not like you can't miss this one.

The book instantly becomes a “pick me up” because it takes the story of love forward from where our conventional film makers leave it. We all love to see lovers getting united and getting married in the end. But do we really think about what happens afterwards, when lovers become Man & Wife?
