Honey Malone was on the run, fleeing a dangerous predator, when she lost control of her car, drove into a lake and found herself up to her neck in breathtaking men. After the brothers nursed her through her injuries, she tried to leave, but she hadn't bargained on their stubborn protectiveness. Or the passionate bond that tied her to Sawyer.

Bueno, quería leer algo más ligero de lo que estoy leyendo en este momento, y no me equivoqué :) La historia ha estado bien, y me gusta cómo narra está escritora, así que leeré algo más de ella.
This was a reread for me, and I ended up dropping it a star! Back when I first read this about five years ago; I wasn't on GR and was just venturing into the romance genre! I loved Lori Foster and this book about these Buckhorn brothers captivated me!
In present day, I'm a little pickier with my reads! I still loved the family loyalty that these hot men have, I just found the romance to be a bit on the fast side- as well as somewhat sappy! I still enjoyed though and will continue on to Morgan's story!
Cute book, cute story, hot brothers (check out the reissued covers!) –something had to stand out right ;D
Book 1 of the Buckhorn Brothers introduces all 4 brothers and focuses on the oldest one Sawyer. He’s got some issues but they’re soon allayed once the heroine shows up. She’s not my favourite kind of heroine—a bit too “mature” for a 25 year old and sometimes she does really dumb things but over all she’s alright. The brothers are all drool worthy in one way or another, they’re pretty funny too as only brothers can be between each other, and the ending makes you want to pick up the rest of the books and read about their stories.
So it’s an easy, light read if you’re looking for something quick that doesn’t drain the brain on a sunny/rainy/long bus ride across the country kind of afternoon :)
3/5 I liked this book but there just wasn't enough to the story line it was short and I wanted more to be explained. I enjoy her newer books a lot more.
No depth, too superficial. No interesting character development, personality, plot or action.
He's drawn to her physical appearance and later says she's the love of his life. Same for her. This author describes beautiful bodies, beautiful eyes, attractive decorating. She cooks, shares and gets along with Sawyer's brothers. It was all too superficial for me.
What a fun book. Honey was on the run, trying to get away from men who were following her, for some reason unknown to her. She took a corner too fast on a rural road and ended up crashing through a fence and into a lake, near where Sawyer and his teenage son were working. Of course, they rescue her, and as a doctor Sawyer sees that she's sick as well as hurt. When she refuses to go to the hospital, Sawyer takes her to the house he shares with his son and three brothers.
Sawyer is trying hard to remain professional, but he's so attracted to Honey he can hardly think straight. It's also obvious that she's hiding something and that concerns him. For the first couple days things are pretty easy because she spends most of the time sleeping and recovering. But once she's feeling better, he and his brothers want some answers.
Honey broke off her engagement when she discovered that her fiance had only wanted her for her potential inheritance. Then she discovered she was being followed, which freaked her out. When she crashed her car and came to in Sawyer's arms, she felt safe for the first time in days. But the intense attraction she feels for Sawyer is overwhelming. She also doesn't want to bring her troubles down on him and his family.
Sawyer's feeling things he hasn't felt in a long time. He was badly burned by his ex-wife, who cheated on him throughout their short marriage. He feels it is better all around if he avoids any kind of long term relationships, especially in a town as small as theirs. But Honey is getting under his skin and he can't get her off his mind. He's feeling protective and possessive and he's not so sure that he likes it.
I loved the heat between Sawyer and Honey, but there was more than that. Sawyer sees a strength and caring in Honey that he's not seen in anyone in a long time. She's small but mighty, and he's pretty amused by the way that she's not only not intimidated by his brothers, but by the way she stands up to them. Honey had started out not trusting Sawyer because of what she'd been through, but his caring overcame that pretty quickly. She's impressed with his care for his family and his patients, but is afraid of falling for him, knowing that there's no future in it. It isn't until the end, when she's ready to leave, that he can admit to his feelings.
I had a great time reading all about the four brothers and Casey, Sawyer's son. They are all big, good looking guys who have a terrific relationship with each other. All of them take to Honey right away, with their protective instincts front and center. Of course, all the brothers and Casey can see the effect that she has on Sawyer and love to give him a hard time about it. One of my favorite parts of the book is the kitchen scene, when Sawyer catches her trying to sneak away. The mental picture of all the brothers showing up in the kitchen in response to her screech (in varying states of undress) was wonderful. The various reactions, especially Honey's, had me laughing out loud.
The mystery of who was after her wasn't too hard to figure out, but the why was a bit of a surprise. From Honey's description of him, it didn't seem like he could be that ruthless. I loved seeing Sawyer take on the guys who had been following Honey, and was sorry he didn't get to do the same with the ex. I also didn't like Honey's father, who could easily be blamed for what happened, thanks to his attitude toward his daughters.
The only other comment I have is nothing to do with the story but with the covers. I have to say that the original Temptation cover was simply awful. The chest doesn't look natural and the expression on his face is just weird. The newer cover is much better, more natural looking, though I'm not sure about the cowboy hat.
A pretty quick read, I had high hopes for “Sawyer”. The premise seemed interesting and full of potential. Foster created a diverse cast of enthralling male leads for her series. The focus of this one is, obviously, Sawyer. Honey, on the other hand, is not nearly intriguing. Sure, she has that whole mysterious-woman-on-the-run thing going on for her. But it’s not nearly enough. Her refusal to confide in Sawyer and his brothers makes sense, but it goes on for so long I’m left feeling irritated with her.
The one scene where she finally got on my nerves so much that I had to put the book down and take a break from it all was when she tried to “keep them safe by keeping them in the dark”. To achieve that goal she attempted to “borrow” (read: steal) Sawyer’s car to get away. Then, in the midst of all Sawyer’s anger, their inexplicable attraction erupts and they’re making out. This entire scene felt ridiculous and forced. I can see how perhaps it was headed here.
Sure the story has potential. The pacing of the story moves at a brisk pace, which helped to keep my attention on the book. But the characters/ situations weren’t developed enough for me. If you’re looking for just a quick romance and easy read, then this book and the others in the series should be a good fit.

I love a good romantic suspense and I have liked Lori Foster books before, but this one was a miss for me. This story was to short, the plot to loose. I mean Honey is on the run but really has no idea why or from who. She doesnt trust anyone but has no logical reasons why not too. So many questions and loose openings that took away from me enjoying the book.
I see this was originally published in 2000, I have read later books by author and they were much better reads, really good reads. I guess this just didn't grab me like i like.
cute! this was a quick read, not a whole lot going on, just to characters falling in love. fun to read, I'll definitely be reading the rest of the series.
I was excited to read this because it sounded so cute and I loved the cat cover. It started off so well, but I soon became annoyed with our main character Honey.
To be honest, she is about 90% of the reason why I rated this 2 stars. She came off bratty and so annoying. By the middle of the book, I just wanted her out of the brother's lives. Along with that, I feel like the angst and mystery behind why she was running away was so drawn out. By the time it was revealed I found it so dumb that she made it to be more difficult than it was and it was honestly because of her pride.
Sawyer... I liked him at first. He was sweet and such a gentleman. However, after being burned in the past he was skeptical about relationships. I get that. But even at about close to 80% he still didn't want anything more than a fling. He was going to let her go until his brothers gave him hell about it. His confession seemed unfeeling and didn't really seem meaningful.
So you are probably wondering what did I like. I loved the family aspect between the brothers. They were hilarious and I can't wait to read more about them.
All in all, I was quite disappointed with this book. I am willing to read more in this series though. Morgan is up next and I'm intrigued by his grumpy self finding love.
Honey crashes her car through a fence in the middle of nowhere. This is witnessed by our hero, Sawyer. Sawyer being a doctor rescues and is instantly attracted to Honey.
I have to interject the summary real quick and say this:
Honey's name is:
That out of the way now, back to the story...
Honey has a concussion & is in a big hurry to leave. While she's recuperating, she meets all then men that live in this house (4 brothers and Sawyer's son). They all discover that Honey is in danger from some very unsavory characters.
The characters are engaging and original. However, Honey is annoying to no end, but you get used to her. All the men in the story each have their own personality. I can't read to read their individual stories to see who they end up with.
This was definitely chick-lit. But fun chick-lit at that. It was a turn your brain off type of story, with a nice HEA.
this was a nice short story. Not as good as the other books of hers i have read, but i enjoyed it. I liked Sawyer, he was hot, sexy and a doctor! oh my! I got into Sawyer's struggle with his feelings for Honey and the demons he had about his past marriage. I am looking forward to reading the other books in this series.
This was a cute and fun read! I'm sure there are those who won't love the "insta" aspect to it, but it was easy for me to overlook because I was in the mood for all this book has to offer: a sweet romance, a small town, a close family, animal lovers, steamy sex, etc. Reminds me a bit of the same feel I get when reading Robyn Carr's Virgin River series. Just a feel good read. Can't wait for the next one!
Actual rating 4.5 ⭐! This was heartwarming, cute, bit with a hint of action towards the end of this romantic suspense. Definitely continuing on with the series!
You can really see the Harlequin origins of the first Buckthorn books. They’re about half the length of LF’s more recent books and very superficial. The first book in the series, Sawyer, is probably the closest to having an actual plot out of the four, though, which helps, but there still isn’t much to it.
This book was just okay, but it could have been so much better. I thought it was too fast paced and short. If the story had been more fleshed out I think it would have been great.
Love the whole Buckhorn series by Lori Foster! It's one of my go to reads. Sawyer and Honey are wonderful and the interactions between her and the brothers when she gets there is hilarious. Can't say enough about this book or the entire series.
I read these a long time ago. Forgot to add them to goodreads. I started a quick reread of them via Overdrive since there are new one's out and I was curious. They're "ok" so far.
First off let me start by saying I love Lori Foster. I'm not even sure how the Buckhorn brothers got past me. This book was a little different than what I'm used to with her as it was way sweeter, but I really enjoyed it.
Sawyer, his son Casey and all of his brothers live in the same house. With all of them being bachelors, the house being huge and such busy lives it just seems to make sense. Sawyer being the physician just seems to naturally take care of everyone, but they all have their roles. I loved how they related to each other. The teasing and normal brother stuff is always so fun to read.
Honey, yep that's her real name, got a crash course in family when she wrecked her car on this ranch. She has tons of secrets that she doesn't want to share but she quickly finds that it's not easy to keep a secret around these men. I loved how Honey fit in with all of the testosterone. They found her so amusing and it cracked me up.
I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be reading on in the series.
Synopsis: Country Doctor Sawyer Hudson has sworn off women after his young wife betrayed him, but his tidy existence meets its match when Honey Malone literally crashes into his life on the run from murderers! Will Honey and Sawyer learn to to trust each other enough to save her from villains and to save them both from a life of loneliness?
The Good: I have grown to be a great fan of series in general, and these brothers are pretty tempting. In most series, of course, characters that will have leading roles in future books are kept on the periphery until they are finally pulled onto center stage. What Foster does well here is putting the entire family in one sprawling house and mixing them all together in a tangled, funny, family mess. It really generates interest in the rest of the series.
I have to admit that I find her presentation of the brothers a wee bit awkward--the brothers Hudson are clearly a designed assortment of man-flesh. Foster even creates a back story that give some of the men different fathers so that the eye candy is diverse. And she makes no qualms about asserting the Female Gaze. As we meet each brother, the varied descriptions read like descriptions from a mail-order-husband magazine: Choose from one of several great lines: Doctor, Veterinarian, Sheriff...
Still, I am intrigued by all the brothers and can't wait to see what Foster has planned for all of them. They are all endearing and comic and attractive for different reasons.
I also really loved that Sawyer was a single father. Seeing him interact with his son was exciting, exotic even--for all its rarity in romance fiction.
The Bad: It's short (a little over 200 pages). When everything must happen in few pages, things that might have been tender and emotional often leave you rolling your eyes: (Honey's wanting to know about Sawyer's family "because they are part of [him]" was particularly cloying). And mystery that might have kept you guessing comes off as clumsy: (You'll know what I mean when the dancing scene happens...).
Still, Foster does her best to make all this work logically, and she does much to invest us in the idea of love-at-first-sight as a way to explain the immediate love, lust, and concern between Sawyer and Honey. And it works. Most of the time. The mystery was less effective, but it was interesting, at least until the last few pages, where it was so quickly resolved it whirled by without suspense.
The only ham-handed thing that I still don't understand is the repeated confusion and worry over why the Hudson men know that her name is "Honey." It started as an annoying encumbrance and became little more than that.
The Ugly: The Cover. Oh, the cover...
We’ve all been there. We’re wandering through a bookstore, or maybe aimlessly searching suggestions, looking at random lists on Amazon.com for something to read. Happily, we traipse through booktopias convinced that we’re going to find something wonderful to read and then… We are greeted with this:
Before I begin, I feel I must point out one very simple fact:
Most authors get absolutely no input in their covers, or, if they do, it’s mostly a kind of courtesy. Publishers rule. Authors weep and hope for reprints.
Challenge accepted. Unleashing Mockery… OLD and NEW covers!!!
So...Lori Foster, my dear... I bet your happy for the cover change, huh? 'Cause...neckless Farmboy is--NOT--cute. That aside...what is with pink-toned nekkid embarrassed guy? Is he shy? Is that why he's pink? Is his aura embarassed? Or is this like a special happy-joy filter? And what's with this sign of shame? Is he hiding behind the author's name because he has three man-nipples? Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, cute little nips.
Forgive the cover artists, for they know not what they do.
