We’re back in Riverville, Texas just in time for the Ag Fair and the judging of the “Most Original Pecan Treat”. Everyone is sure Miss Amelia Blanchard will win the prize since she is responsible for all the delicious treats sold at The Nut House. The crowd is shocked when her Heavenly Texas Pecan Caviar doesn’t even receive an honorable mention award. She really wasn’t that upset and even takes her bowl over to one of the judges to get him to try it again. She is absolutely aghast when the judge, Pastor Jenkins, has some sort of attack and dies just a few minutes later. While it is crazy to think Miss Amelia would hurt anyone the police have no choice but to name her their top suspect. Her granddaughter Lindy will not stand for that. She is determined to find out who is framing her meemaw and why.

Something nutty is going on in Riverville and I am not talking pecan recipes. First, a wild hog gets out of its pen at the fair. Then, Miss Amelia loses a blue ribbon and the woman who wins is plum crazy. All while the church in town is planning a grand expansion for all the “new members” that will be coming to town – A group of parishioners has invested money for the project with the promise of a huge reward after the groundbreaking ceremony. And Miss Amelia and Ethelred Tomroy have some kind of secret and Ethelred is looking at brochures for new cars and fancy vacations.
If you like quirky characters this cozy mystery has quite a few. Even Lindy has her quirks especially when he comes to her long-time friend, Deputy Hunter Austen. The romantic tension vibrates between them but bringing her grandmother for questioning for a murder sure didn’t earn him any points. Lindy is pushy, even convincing him to let her help him with the case. Thankfully Hunter is a very patient man with a very thick skin.
Author Elizabeth Lee has caught up these extraordinary characters in a delightful whodunit. While not difficult to solve I was very entertained as each secret was uncovered and each little turn shined more light on who was guilty.
I really enjoyed the author’s descriptive writing style. She brought the town of Riverville to life from the fair to the homes and shops and even a spectacular garden. She also clearly depicts her characters making each one unique and easy to envision.
Snoop to Nuts was a very entertaining read. Nuts and Buried in waiting on my TBR Shelf and I will be escaping right into it soon!

It's time for the annual Ag Fair in Riverville, Texas. Lindy's grandma, Miss Amelia, is entered in the local "Most Original Pecan Treat" contest. Her Heavenly Texas Pecan Caviar is a fan favorite that is expected to easily take home the coveted blue ribbon. What they weren't expecting was for Amelia's prize winning dish to poison one of the judges. Lindy and half of the town knows that Miss Amelia is innocent, but who is trying to frame her and why?
One thing I love about this series is the small town setting. Quaint Texas towns seems to be a popular choice amongst cozy writers. I'm not complaining since I'm a Texas gal myself. There's just a different feel you get when you can tell that all the characters know every little thing the moment it happens across town. You definitely get that feeling in this book. The characters all have a history, they bicker, but at the end of the day they truly care about one another and about protecting the innocence of their small town.
Lindy does get on my nerves at times. I appreciate the times that she talks about the farm and her desire to cultivate new trees. I don't enjoy the times she looses her temper at the slightest disagreements - especially when it comes to Hunter, the supposed love interest in this series. Amelia - aka Meemaw - is by far my fav. She is a wise, no nonsense, to the point grandma. You add in some of her friends, especially the twins, and their silly antics keep the book entertaining. I also love the fact that she runs the farms pecan shop, The Nut House. Her treats sounds absolutely delicious.
They mystery lacked in this book in my opinion. I figured out the problem and the likely suspects way before the actual characters began piecing together the clues. The author included very obvious hints along the way, but the slew of characters investigating never seemed to listen or pick up on them.

Well, this book was not as good as the first one. I really liked the first book in this series and I was hoping that this one would live up to it, sadly it didn't.
The characters were passable, but only barely so in this book. Lindy was extremely obnoxious and very rude to the guy who showed nothing but patience with her, Hunter. Hunter is a sheriff's deputy and as a deputy he has to do what the sheriff tells him to do, it's his job. But Lindy takes everything he does personally, it was tiring.
I'm also tired of hearing phrases like "we gotta protect our own" and "the Blanchard family has to stick together." In the first book it was okay, because Lindy's brother was the accused, but in this book it was overkill. I mean seriously can you not give people some slack?
The mystery was simply okay, it was a bit too much like the first book's plot for my taste.
Overall not a very good book. I'll read the next one, but if it doesn't improve than I won't be continuing this series.

Probably a 3.5 star read, but going 4 rather than 3 because I liked the first in this series so much. While the story was pretty good, I pegged the bad guy(s) right away and figured where it was headed. I actually like these books more for the characters than the mystery anyway. Looking forward to the next one and hoping the romance gets going! Recommend!

I believed right from the beginning that it was the prize-winning hog scooting down the crowded midway at the annual Riverville, Texas, Agriculture Fair that started it all.
Lindy's grandmother, Miss Amelia, has submitted her Heavenly Texas Pecan Caviar in "the Most Original Pecan Treat" category at the Fair. Imagine her surprise when one of the judges dies after eating the dish and the cause of death is poison. Lindy is determined to clear her grandmother's name and find the true culprit.
I didn't enjoy this second book in the series as much as I did the first. I became weary of Lindy's attitude early on. I really like Miss Amelia and the twins. Even grumpy Ethelred made me smile.
I like the Nut House and the small town atmosphere. The family dynamics are realistic and believable.
I don't quite understand Lindy and Hunter's relationship. It's almost as if they never left high school.
The mystery was not much of a mystery. I pretty much knew who the murderer was when they were introduced.
The recipes were the best part of the book. I'm interested in trying several of them.
I may give this series a rest for a bit and revisit it at another time.

But she needs to put aside her research to help her grandmother, Miss Amelia, get ready for the Most Original Pecan Treat contest. Miss Amelia almost always takes home a blue ribbon with whatever she enters, but this year she seems very worried about what the outcome might be this year. As Pastor Jenkins is trying her Texas Caviar entry, he very politely gets rid of the bite he has taken. Miss Amelia's nemesis, Miss Ethelred, wins this years contest. After the judging Miss Amelia convinces Jenkins to try a sample of her Texas Caviar from a back up dish she had prepared. Judge Jenkins seemed to enjoy his firs taste, but soon has violent death When it has been determined that he died from a dose of Spotted Water Hemlock, a plant that grows readily in the area, Miss Amelia becomes a person of interest, much to the chagrin of Lindy and her family.
Lindy begins to ask questions of her own, hoping that folks will tell her things that they wouldn't tell the police, so that she can clear Miss Amelia.
This a very good follow up to A Tough Nut To Kill and most all of the enjoyable characters are back again.
No romance for Lindy in this book, but maybe soon something will happen between her and Deputy Hunter Austen.

The Ag Fair is Riverville, Texas is all set for the Pecan Contest. Amelia Blanchard is a shoe in to win with her Heavenly Texas Pecan Caviar that could possibly win a blue ribbon. Granddaughter, Lindy is busy on the family pecan farm and also helps out at her Amelia "Meemaw's" store the "Nut House" serving up delicious treats.
The contest is soon under way and the judges are tasting each and every dish but when one judge, Pastor Jenkins tastes Amelia's Pecan Caviar he is soon struck with a bitter taste in his mouth and falls to the floor, it is soon discovered that he was poisoned by Amelia's Pecan Caviar and dies. The town of Riverville is rallying around Amelia in support of her believing she would never intentionally hurt anyone.
Lindy wants to clear her grandmother and the Blanchard family name and she soon discovers there's trouble and a few someones in Riverville are nuttier than "Meemaw's" Pecan Caviar.
Sweet southern charm with characters nuttier than Amelia's treats from the Nut house. Loved the church ladies and the "Most Original Pecan Treat" Competition. Very well written with a feeling you were right there in Texas along with Lindy trying to track down a killer.

This is the second book in this new series. I like the characters although the main character, Lindy annoyed me at the beginning by the way she was talking to Hunter, a sheriff deputy and her love interest. She was mad at him for doing his job because it involved her grandma as a person of interest. The minister of the local church dies of poison at the AG fair pecan food contest and the poison was found in Miss Amelia's Texas Pecan Caviar. Shady financial dealings, other attempted murders make this a fast paced read and it was entertaining.

Elizabeth Lee's "Snoop to Nuts" is the second book in the "Nut House Mystery" series. Set in Riverville, Texas, Lindy Blanchard remains at her family's pecan farm, researching and growing pecan trees, while helping her meemaw who still operates and cooks all things pecan in her Riverville shop, The Nut House. The new minister at the Rushing to Calvary Independent Church (you gotta love the story with a church named like this!) dies after eating Miss Amelia's (meemaw's) dish of Heavenly Texas Pecan Caviar in the Ag Fair's "Most Original Pecan Treat" contest. (Are you with me?!) The town splits in deciding if Miss Amelia would actually commit this murder against those in town who believe there is no way this beloved member of their community would do such a thing. There are several twists and turns and just a little foreshadowing that the reader can begin to suspect a couple of people who just might be involved but not enough foreshadowing to allow the reader to be certain. A neat read from an author I'll continue to follow!

A nice light ladies mystery. I do not remember reading other books by this author, but since it is a pseudonym, I cannot be sure. In any case, it is a light fun mystery and I enjoyed it very much. I read the book in just a couple of days and enjoyed it enough that I will look for others in the series.
The family is in the Pecan business and everyone seems to have a part to play. Grandmother is Amelia and seems to be the star of the show. Her granddaughter, Lindy is another main character in this story. together they go on the hunt for the murderer since it seems that otherwise Amelia is considered a prime suspect. A little romance with Hunter, deputy sheriff adds a love interest to the story line.

Lindy’s grandmother Amelia always wins the blue ribbon in any food contest, but when her Heavenly Texas Caviar doesn’t even place everyone is shocked. … And even more shocked when one of the judges, Pastor Jenkins takes a second taste of the caviar and winds up poisoned. Most of the towns people couldn’t believe Miss Amelia could have done anything wrong.. but her Texas caviar tested positive for Hemlock poisoning. Can Lindy, Miss Amelia, and Lindy’s friend (and policeman) Hunter figure out what is happening in the town of Riverville??

Lindy is a great strong character. It is interesting about how she is using her skills with growing a good successful pecan that will escape heat and other natural causes. We learn more about her meemaw, Miss Amelia. Keeps one in suspense near the very end.

Another very good story line. Next book in this series coming up; then I'll have to wait for the author to publish another one. Hope it won't be too long of a wait! Even though I have a lot of series "in progress".

Snoop to Nuts is the second installment in the Nut House Mystery series featuring Lindy Blanchard. Miss Amelia, Lindy's Meemaw is looking forward to entering her Heavenly Texas Pecan Caviar in this years Riverville, Ag Fair. Miss Amelia has won every other blue ribbon at the fair for her fabulous Nut House recipes and wants to win for Most Original Pecan Treat.
Things don't go as hoped when Miss Amelia's treat doesn't win the blue ribbon and doesn't even receive an honorable mention. Determined to prove the judges wrong, she offers up a second sample to head judge Pastor Jenkins at the Winner's Supper. In just a matter of minutes Pastor Jenkins is dead and the evidence is pointing to Miss Amelia as the poisoner. Lindy teams up with Miss Amelia to prove her Meemaw's innocence and save the reputation of the Nut House.
The townspeople including Ethelred Tomroy, Miss Amelia's nemesis/friend have invested quite a bit of money with Hawley Harvey, investment banker and trustee of the Rushing to Calvary Independent Church. Hawley and the other board members are determined to turn the small church into a "megachurch" drawing thousands of parishioners into their flock. With the help of Deputy Hunter Austen, Lindy and Miss Amelia soon discover that there is quite a bit of sinning going on in Riverville.
It was easy to figure out whodunit and why right from the introduction of the character which was a little disappointing, but I enjoy the characters in this series and the down homey feel of the small Texas town, not to mention the delicious sounding recipes. I'm looking forward to the next in the series to see how Lindy makes out with her new batch of Pecan trees but am begging the author not to drag out the romantic tension between Lindy and Deputy Austen.

Snoop to Nuts is the second installment in the Nut House Mystery Series. Lindy Blanchard and her grandmother, Miss Amelia are getting ready for the big pecan recipe contest of the year. Miss Amelia is favored to win for her Most Original Pecan Treat.
But almost as soon as they get started, a judge in the contest in poisoned after eating some of Miss Amelia’s entry. Clearing Miss Amelia of suspicion takes all of Lindy’s know how and a great deal of persistence as she works to get information from the townspeople, information that they weren’t willing to share with the police.
Snoop to Nuts has its share of quirky characters and southern charms, making the reader feel like they are right there in Texas, too. There is no romance for Lindy in this book, but maybe it is brewing in the future with one of the Deputies.
The premise of this book is interesting, as are the characters, but for me it moved a little slowly. Overall, I think it would make good reading for fans of cozy mysteries. It just wasn’t my cup of tea.

This is the second book in Elizabeth Lee's Nut House Mystery. With the great state of Texas front and center I find it small town living at it's best. In spite of all the kooky characters, (perhaps I should change that to because of) they're a town full of folks who are there for family, for friends, friends from long ago despite the fact that they don't really like each other. Lindy is her grandmother's biggest fan. How is it possible that anyone could think that Miss Amelia could possibly set out to bring harm to someone else, especially the new pastor in town. Lindy ends up knee deep in the mystery, as she steps in to give Deputy Hunter a hand. County fairs, hogs running wild, church ladies, new and original pecan recipes and of course a cast of loving, caring town folk will steal your heart. I know it stole mine.

Great book/Great Series. This is only the 2nd book and I enjoyed it as much as I did the first one. The Blanchards own a pecan farm as well as a store in town that sells pecan products of all kinds especially Amelia's special pecan pie. Everyone expects Miss Amelia to take home another blue ribbon at the Ag Fair for her Heavenly Texas Pecan Caviar but she doesn't even place and one of the judges keels over dead after taking a second taste of her food. No one believes Miss Amelia could kill anyone on purpose but all the evidence is there. So Lindy sets out to find the real killer and clear her meemaw's name. These books are full of page turns and surprises and this one was no different. Full of several suspects and secrets. Want to know what makes Miss Amelia's Pecan Pies so special.....I recommend you read the book.

This is the 2nd in the Nut house mysteries. Lindy is still trying to get the perfect pecan tree to help their and friends farms while her grandmother sells pecan goodies at their store. Every year her grandmother wins the blue ribbon at the ag fair. This year she doesn't and when she serves another version to the local minister he dies. Lindy has to prove her grandmother didn't do it and who did do it.

I loved this book. It is so much fun. The characters are fantastic. And having a grandma called MeeMaw warms my heart since I had one too. This is a great mystery. I has everything that a cozy mystery should have an more. I cannot wait to start on book 3.

A BIG difference with book # 2, intrigue, reads little like a movie plot--love this series! The author seems unwilling to move on the books "love interest?" Hmm, I bet she's waiting for a 3rd party to appear to begin with Drama!?

Started out as a strong second book in the series, but the ending became completely bogged down by major storyline continuity/editing issues.

Funny in spots. Ms. Lee kept me interested in finding out who did it. This is a similar format to Rita Mae Brown books but without all the historical pontificating that Ms. Brown has been doing.
