Rate this book

Fans of werewolves & shifters stories are in for a real treat with Ethan Sandlow's first Werewolf Novella. "The Hidden" which is the first in the series of werewolf short stories. This action-packed werewolf novella introduces Fenris Lyall to the world, and he is not somebody who is going to be forgotten in a hurry. If you like reading books about werewolves and shape-shifters then let this paranormal fantasy thriller take to where you have never been before!

Fenris stands head and shoulders above any werewolf who has ever lived. He has wandered the earth for centuries ensuring that anyone who discovered his existence, or his true ancestry was never left alive to tell the tale. However, things are about to change.

Even readers who do not normally read Werewolf books or shifter suspense stories have commented on how much they have enjoyed reading about the complex character which Fenris is. Read the reviews and see why readers find it hard to put this werewolves and shapeshifters book down once they have started it. If you are a fan of Werewolf horror books, and are looking for a werewolf mystery and suspense book which is going to keep you guessing right until the end, you are not going to be disappointed!

Fenris had been on the verge of leaving Columbus, until by chance he had caught the scent of the shifters. Undecided as to whether he should kill them or ignore them, he settled on the idea that he would wait to see what they were doing there before making his decision.
On finding out that the shapeshifters were there for the girl, left Fenris with a problem. He knew that the Faction had sent the shape-shifters to abduct the girl. It wasn't his business but his curiosity had been aroused, why did they want her? Who or what was she? She certainly wasn't a shifter.

The Faction had been hunting, recruiting and killing people with special abilities for centuries. Fenris had been cautious and ruthless in his attempts to prevent the Faction from discovering his existence. He was no ordinary Lycan, and if they were to discover that there was a werewolf such as Fenris walking the earth, all their attention would turn to him. He discovers that the girl who had got the Faction’s attention was a Psychic, or to be more precise, an Empath. Would he put himself at risk or walk away?

This book ended suddenly so I was disappointed about that. The book was fun to read so I want to get the next one if I can.

A well written, captivating read.

This is a book from a genre in which I am not well read, therefore, I had no preconceived ideas on what to expect or whether I would enjoy it. The story line is strong and hooks the reader from the start. It is an easy yet captivating book to read. The character development is excellent and works well with the twists and turns in the plot, which I will not allude to as it would spoil your enjoyment. As the first book in a series The Hidden ensures that you will want to buy and read the next story. A book worthy of five stars from this debut author and I look forward to reading more from him in the near future.

I'm sorry to say I didn't care much for book - and I never became emotionally invested in any of the characters. To be fair; this WAS a short(ish) book, and could improve once the world building is in place.

For a werewolf that's supposed to fly under the Faction's radar, this anti hero sure has a suspicious name. You don't have to know that much about mythology to know that Fenris is the Norse mythological name for wolf, and Lyall sounds suspiciously like lycan, but nevermind. I'm sure he will be very happy with the little empath girl he rescues in this story - once he gets over the fact that she is as sensitive as he is ruthless and bloodthirsty. Oh well, opposites tend to attract...

An interesting book.

The characters in this book are unusual. They are built in a clear manner and are provided with plenty of history, perhaps too much really. Most of the action is intense but it's limited and that is probably only due to the shortness of the book. Clearly, this story is going somewhere interesting and I will be following it closely. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes paranormal stories.

Great urban fantasy tale

This is an action packed story of Fenris Lyall, Lycan, and his rescue of a fledgling Empath. The story is fast-paced,and sure to entertain. These are not the warm and cuddly shifters of romance novels, but brutal creatures. Definitely a true urban fantasy...no romance here! Refreshing.

This isn’t the typical book I read. I purchased it on a lark. I was drawn into the story. I like the characters and the unveiling. Wish the next story was available as I would have purchase it immediately.

Only draw back for the audible version is that the narrator’s tone threw me into a bygone year so it was a bit of a mismatch for the present time period.

Excellent read!

Not your normal supernatural series. Really enjoyed reading this book. Can't wait to read the next one. Excellent characters, storyline and action. The lead character reminds one quite a bit of Logan (Wolverine)

Entertaining

Entertaining introduction to the Fenris Lyall books. It can be read as a stand alone story. In this book, Fenris works to try to save the life of an unusual empath. Fun to read but no questions are answered.

Ferris is fun

An enjoyable reading experience. Ferris is a tough dude. Amanda is a bit too easily trusting. An okay read. Nice.

Amanda, a young woman working in a food pantry for the homeless, finds her world turned upside down in just one night. When she takes a shortcut home through a dark alley, she meets some terrifying, not quite human individuals who have been hunting her down. Why? It turns out she's an Empath - someone with special gifts - that an organization called the Faction is trying to eliminate (or use for their benefit). Another intimidating and not-quite-human individual, Fenris Lyall, comes to her rescue, and helps her escape from the predators - at least for now.

The Hidden basically lays the groundwork for future books in the series. We get to know Fenris and Amanda, but we really don't know what her gift is, why it's so important, and what kind of diabolical plan the Faction has. The world building is very good, and the relationship that develops between Fenris and Amanda is intriguing. There's some nice dialog between the two, as well. Warning for the faint of heart - there's a lot of killing and gruesome scenes.

By the end of the book, the reader is immersed in the paranormal world Mr. Sandlow has created. It's a real page turner that leaves you wondering what is going to happen to Amanda and Fenris. The Hidden would appeal to Young Adult readers who enjoy paranormal thrillers.

Here is a wonderful, well-written, original thriller that stands high above the rest in a genre with a lot of competition. I have read many books in this and similar genres and to put it simply, this story is my favorite. As soon as I finished this book, I went back and clicked on the author’s Amazon Author Page to see what else he has written. The Hidden is apparently Ethan Sandlow’s first book. I think it’s quite extraordinary that a new author’s first book can be this well written. I think it has something to do with his ability to see things from the reader’s point of view and put the reader in the scenes with a mastery of the written word. The relationship between the two intriguing characters is so uniquely fascinating, I can’t wait for the next book in the series to see how their relationship develops. “The Hidden: A Fenris Lyall Tale” is just plain fun and quite easy to visualize as you’re reading. I think it would make an amazing movie or TV series. This is a “must-read” solid 5-star page turner.

The hidden. A ferris y'all tale

This book was very good once you got into the storyline but I really can't say much because the story stops just when it starts getting good.I would buy the second book before reading the first so you could put them to gather. But was. worth reading

This is a different take on 'others'. I can't say that I loved it, but didn't hate it either. I will read the next and see what happens.
