This intermediate text uses a flexible, four-skills approach to promote communication with a primary emphasis on reading. Kaleidoskop is organized into two main sections, Lektüre and Grammatik. Lektüre features 10 Themen, which present excerpts and complete texts that reflect contemporary Germany, followed by reading comprehension activities, and speaking and writing practice. Grammatik offers a comprehensive grammar review in 10 Kapitel, which recycle and integrate vocabulary used in the Themen and provide proficiency-oriented practice.

It's... It's a textbook...

This book presents a series of short stories from A2 to B2. I really enjoyed it. The book includes a dictionary and glossary. It is inexpensive yet effective. It correctly focuses on vocabulary rather than grammar. Learn vocabulary actively, learn grammar passively. If you are able to speak German but do not feel fluent especially at reading then definitely get this book. It is simple without being simplistic and is effective!

This book can be used by self-learners too because most of the exercises can be done through self-study.

Half of the book consists of readings with supplementary exercises, the other half of grammar explanations with their own set of exercises.

There are many readings, a lot of vocabulary, a lot of cultural information, a lot of exercises, and of-course a lot of grammar.

For self-learners this is textbook well worth getting.
