Very good, concise summary of the monastic movement, then a series of brief descriptions of some specific monasteries. This may seem redundant as a print book in the age of Wikipedia etc., but I found it a good resource. I am fond of plans that show the arrangement of buildings, and many of the monasteries profiled include these.
