The Doctor says I’m sick, that the nightmares in my head must be untangled with his help. He’s the one who introduced me to Theo, my protector, my tormentor, my everything. Together, they pushed me past my limits, shattering every boundary I thought I had. But something feels wrong.
In this asylum, there’s no escape—from the pain, the desire, or the madness. And when the truth comes to light, I’ll either break completely…or burn it all down.
This book has dark themes with a heavy dose of mental health representation. It also will depict MM, MF, and MFM scenes. Please check the contents in the beginning in the book before reading.

⚠️ Please read the trigger warnings ⚠️ This is not a romance—it’s an er0tic psychological h0rror story!
This book was not what I thought it would be, and the ending was surprisingly satisfying. 😲 We know by now that everything that happens in the Wellard Asylum is sick and twisted, and these characters did not disappoint. 😏😏😏 Eliza is a little cray-cray in her head (a lot?). She did terrible things that landed her in the asylum, and oh boy, if she knew what would happen to her, I don’t think she would’ve done what she did. Holy crap, poor girl went through a lot, emotionally and physically. 😬😮 The Doctor is a sick bastard—there are no other words to describe him—and he got what he deserved. 😇😇😇
The ending I did not see coming. I was on the edge of my damn seat, wondering how the hell it would end for them. 😰😰😰 This is not a HEA, but kinda is? I’m obviously not gonna spoil anything, but damn… I think it was the best possible ending. Eliza is such a freaking badass, and I could’ve never done what she did. Bravo, Ma’am! 🤯😲😲
In short: highly recommend. 👍

Okayyy, so this was kinda wild, I was even disturbed / disgusted which one might expect from erotic horror so I guess it gets bonus points for that? But man, I was not expecting the ending to be what it was.
I don't know how to say this next part without spoiling too much so bear with me, there is a clear villain in the story, I hated said villain from the get go, then I felt like we were supposed to, not like him, perse, but have slightly muddled opinions on him based on how Eliza was feeling, and then by the final reveal go back to hating him again because it's clear what really happened (for the most part).
But honestly, I hated him the entire way through and .
I wish we got more of an explanation for everything though, and that Eliza got more time with Theo outside of the Doctor's interference, even if , because I felt like it was just getting good and then and I honestly wasn't here for that, it ruined it for me, but I appreciate the story as a whole.
Yall the way I was invested in this story as this is where it begins. The Wellard Asylum This is where we witness and learn about the wickedness that exists and the depravity that will come.
We are instantly engulfed in the deaths of multiple people, all at the hands of one crazy woman. She is unfazed and undeniably Pyscho.
The author did a good job of setting the atmosphere for Wellard by describing the aesthetic of this facility. Immoral medical procedures, isolation and detention, overmedicated mental patients..
The reader gets to observe the Dr. unorthodox unsettling medical operations. Using self-centered sexual encounters to satisfy his own irrational cravings.
As soon as you discover the plot twist, you start to re think a lot about what you witnessed questioning … how did I miss that. What a thought-provoking finish.
Anticipating all the nefarious acts that will take place at the Wellard Asylum.
Be mindful of triggers because this is full of them, but it is deliciously dark and fast paced. I enjoyed every second of this and read it in one sitting. I am so excited to read the rest of this series!
2.5 meh stars. I wasn’t gripped by the asylum, or the smut. Was hoping the twist might be a little interesting, but it was ok. The last scene was poetic, but everything else a slog.
The first in the Wellard Asylum series of novellas, and I’m blown away!! —𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘱𝘴𝘺𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴. 𝘗𝘓𝘚𝘚 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘬 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘦𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘥, 𝘋𝘖 𝘕𝘖𝘛 𝘚𝘛𝘈𝘙𝘛 𝘛𝘏𝘐𝘚 𝘐𝘍 𝘠𝘖𝘜 𝘊𝘈𝘕’𝘛 𝘎𝘌𝘛 𝘗𝘈𝘚𝘛 𝘛𝘏𝘌 𝘛𝘞’𝘴 𝘰𝘳 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘳𝘦𝘴.—
Okayy now— I inhaled this thing and could’ve done so much faster if I didn’t find myself rereading all of THOSE lines, highlighting, adding notes, squealing and letting them sink in.
This is a short read, but absolutely packed to the brim with crazed events and even makes you second guess what you read was correct. Because, the characters are in an asylum, and you are reading from THEIR POV. It must be correct, correct?! 😂 I eat up anything related to psychological fiction.
Devoured it, and the last kick to finalise its 5 stars for me, was that deliriously good conclusion! Whenever there’s a note from the author stating this is their darkest book to date, I’m in. What an epic starter to this series, I can’t wait to delve into the other books!

I’m gonna be completely honest… I didn’t like it. Short read so I felt like there wasn’t any reason not to finish it, as well as I wanted to see how the end was gonna go since I seen lots of people talk about how shocked they were by it. I did have a strong feeling that she was imagining the men, and i turned out to be right for one of them. This book confused me so much, how did Theo get POV’s if he wasn’t actually there? How did he “tell” the doctor that the FMC loved him when he wasn’t really there? How did she have smex with him when once again, he wasn’t even there?? I feel like so much was left out. Also apparently her husband/fiancés name was Theo, so is she imagining him but not remembering it’s him? Or is she just imagining another guy with the same name? I don’t know, but she k!lled her fiancé at the beginning so why would she not mention that both their names are Theo? Unfortunately the book isn’t a why choose as I thought it would be, but I wouldn’t call it MF either… The smut was good, definitely had some kinks I wish were in more books. However this book just wasn’t personally for me sadly.

This one threw me into a dark, twisted world: the heroine Eliza lands at Wellard Asylum after something horrendous and meets Theo and a doctor whose methods are anything but conventional. It’s intense, creepy, erotic horror-style — you’ll feel the dread, the power games, the “what is real?” moments.
The first part of the book was definitely stronger than the second part. More details of what happened and why Eliza did what she did were definitely needed.
I don’t know why the books with asylum setting are alluring to me. I don’t know why I seek to know the reasons behind the insanity, the inhuman experiments made on the weak ones.
Writhe is a book in which insanity is present in every character possible, with sickness desires and plot twists which can’t be expected. This story isn’t for the people with weak hearts, the subjects are heavy and dark, but for people who are allured to the dark sides to descover the depths from minds this book is for you.
Eliza is our fmc who poison her fiance’s family. She is mentally unstable and insane, full of rage and dismiss everything in the Wellard Asylum. Until she meets Theo. Theo a timid boy who is transformed into a beast by our Doctor. Doctor is the puppet master who plays with everyone’s mind. He transforms Theo into a dominant beast who makes Eliza to fall in love with him. Then the Doctor’s plan is to behave Eliza, in which his plan goes in another way.
The details are gruesome about the institution, the exploitation of the people with weak minds, mentally insane. The Wellard Asylum is a prison who just take care of people to die slowly, their minds to die.
It’s my first book written by K.T. Maddan and I absolutely love the writing, I guess I started with the darkest one, but the story immerse you in it’s universe. Hands down for the ending and the plot twists, I really couldn’t expect it. 👀
As always please make sure to check your ‼️Triggers‼️ before you read this one.
At first I was like what? I felt lost than i got to a few chapters I went oh okay i see where this is going. Yeah that’s not that case lol Knew absolutely nothing till the end lol
Which is a good thing I love when a book/story keeps me on my toes and in the dark 9 out of 10 times I know instantly where the story is going it’s just how my mind works sometimes but with this one that wasn’t the case.
It’s dark and very twisted it’s definitely one for the dark romance readers so make sure to check your (TRIGGERS) before reading this one.
It’s super fast paced a lots going on it’s very suspenseful it keeps you interested and there is a good amount of spice in this to the point i was like wow this is on going lol which I didn’t expect but again make sure to check your triggers.
What to expect with this? Be reading to be mind blown, spice for sure, plot twist on top of plot twist in a short amount of time. Asylum environment, and lastly the carpet to be pulled like a magic trick from under your feet lol
Seriously this one surprised me in the best possible way has a dark romance reader.
The author does a great job of laying out the groundwork for the story in a sense that keeps you on your toes, thinking you know stuff but you really don’t and she covers heavy topics in a sense of showing and telling that’s the vibe I got from this.
Overall i enjoyed it I would recommend this to anyone that’s on a deep leave with dark romance reading. Even if your into dark romance like I stated before make sure to check T/Ws.
I was extremely impressed with this first installment of the Wellard Asylum!
Out of the gate, we get depravity and insanity! Ohhhh Eliza! She’s a fun time at a dinner party!
The author did an amazing job depicting the evil and torture expected in an asylum book!
The behaviors of the Doctor and Eliza’s bond to Theo deliver a twisted plot with a brutal, unexpected ending!! That ending was perfectly disturbing! The epilogue demonstrates cleverness to the character development of Eliza!
I absolutely loved this!! Highly Recommend!! Read Responsibly!
“I’m going to have fun breaking you, my beautiful doll.”
Oh. My. Gods. The anticipation for this series was sooo real and now it has begun! 👏🏽 👏🏽
I literally devoured this as soon as I could and Maddan did not disappoint! Eliza, the doctor, and Theo are the mains and they are all twisted, deranged, and just plain effed up. And I loved it all! No spoilers here—you just have to go read it. Only if you’re into mental health rep, MFM, psychos, lots of good spice, and some violence. 😉
Was just gaslit for 200 pages but I wouldn't have it any other way 'cause oh my god??? This was just insane. Dark, fucked up, erotic, horrible, crazy, and everything in between. Definitely check TWs before reading but....yeah. Give it a go if you're interested in something short and not-so sweet.
This was wild too. If this and Exposed are any indication of how the rest of the series is going to go I am so ready!
This one definitely had a different plot and for a while I thought I had it figured out but the ending caught me off guard. The plot and descriptions and character development was insane for such a short book. Loved every minute of it.
What the F was that ending? Consider my mind freaking BLOWN 😂
I must admit, during parts of the book I was confused on what was happening, this is my first read by K.T Maddan so I’m sitting there going huh I’m not sure about this book…
Fast forward to the end, I sat there, jaw on the damn ground for a solid 10 minutes!!!! Then everything that I was confused about suddenly made sense, however now I’m not even sure what was real and what wasn’t 😂😂😂😂
ARC Review: “Beautiful, vicious girl. But we’re not done yet, are we?”
This book was such a unique and entertaining read -the perfect pick for spooky season. K.T. Madden managed to pack an incredible amount of plot and atmosphere into just 172 pages. Honestly, it could have been expanded into a full-length novel, but it worked beautifully as is.
The dark, haunting tone kept me hooked, and the ending was both unexpected and perfect- a twist that somehow still feels like a happily ever after though that’s twisted to say…hmm maybe just a satisfying ending? After all…”you don’t need a ghost when you have a master.” I’ll definitely be recommending this one and can’t wait to read more from the author.
After annihilating her family at a dinner, our FMC finds herself as a patient at Wellard Asylum. Whilst trying to starve herself she meets Theo and their story unfolds. Let’s just say the doctors’ methods of suppressing behaviour are not what you’d expect 😈
A fast read, some dark aspects with spice and a twist. Not giving you anymore as it’s a quick erotic horror read 🤪
I don't think I can express how in love I am with this book. The Doctor, Eliza, and Theo fit so perfectly together in the most insane way possible. KT will have you losing your marbles at the end, making you think you are the insane one (if you are I'm not judging😉).
