My screwball younger sister sets me up on an epic blind date with a dirty talking orc. Wherein everything goes wrong that could possibly go wrong and I suffer through a series of humiliations and yet, this guy…
*fanning myself*
I’m blushing.
In the end I admit it might’ve been the best date of my life. But should a single mom with two rowdy, school age children and a busy, small-town bakery spend her valuable time dating a hot-as-sin, wicked orc?
Maybe.
Maybe not?
When I finally return for a second date Urdan Overthrow slams the door shut in my face. Apparently, orcs claim their brides during the dark of winter, therefore he wants nothing to do with me until he can remain civil again.
Maybe civility is the last thing I want from this orc.
Sweet Monsters This is a sweet and steamy rom com between a single mom and an orc deputy sheriff. Includes a filthy-mouthed hero, rambunctious children and quirky side characters. This novella will have all the consent and an HEA wrapped up with a bow.

Michele Mills lives in California and leads a life of quiet, G rated desperation with her husband and two sons. In an attempt at a fulfilling, R rated inner life that does not include Disney movies and Nickelodeon; Michele reads and writes filthy romance and, well...filthy romance. And she wouldn’t have it any other way.
The single mom and baker FMC is the sister from Arrested by the Orc, paired with the new orc deputy MMC. A chaotic blind date leads to months of miscommunication, followed by a quick HEA. This wasn’t my favorite in the series. I enjoyed the date portion, but I didn’t like the separation, and the resolution felt WAY too rushed. 3.5/5
Awkward Date With a Wicked Orc is cute! This is a case of two people who need to learn to communicate. Lila and Urdan have a fabulous first date, and Urdan knows in the way orcs can that Lila is his mate. And that date takes up the first half of this book. But right at that end of that magical evening, Urdan discovers that Lila already has children from her first marriage at the same time he’s called away to help his father recover from a potentially fatal illness.
This takes months to resolve, and yet somehow during all of this they aren’t in contact with one another. Mills offers reasons –his cell phone breaks, she sends him notes in packages from her bakery that don’t survive the orc desire for delicious sweets—but I struggled with this. And that’s because Lila’s sister Sadie is married to Urdan’s cousin Bowen. Lila and Sadie co-own a bakery, while Bowen is set to be Urdan’s new boss. I found it hard to believe that Bowen wouldn’t be in contact with Urdan in some way, shape, or form, especially as Urdan is supposed to be working for Bowen. Or that Sadie wouldn’t discuss Lila’s notes in her packages and the lack of response with Bowen, who’d talk to Urban, and…oh, you see where I’m going here. It was just a bit much for me to buy that this couple would spend all the time that they do out of communication.
So this is a fun read, but the second half strained credulity for me in a big way. If you like cozy monster romance, this is one you’ll enjoy—as long as you don’t think about the logic behind their big separation for too long.

I loved this fun, standalone novella. It starts off with Murphy's Law. Anything that could go wrong did go wrong at the worst time. I loved their first "date" (orcs don't date). see above. I liked Lila. She has been dealt a bad hand in life but makes the most of it. Her love for her kids and family was undeniable. Urban is fresh out of the commune for orcs and is unfamiliar with the human traditions. He has done some research though. I loved the humor, seam to the romance and of course the perfect HEA for them. POV of Lila and Urban progressing the story. Sadie, her sister, is there to help . We learn about her in her own story "Arrested by the Orc. If you like orcs I think you will love this story.

Awkward Date With A Wicked Orc is a fun Rom Com with single mum Lila being set up on a blind date with an Orc by her sister Sadie, who happens to be married to one. Lila’s meet up with Urdan turns into a series of mishaps but they manage to have a nice spicy time together, and the attraction was definitely firing. Being divorced four years with two school age kids, and half owner of One Big Bite bakery with her sister, Lila really needed some stress relief! Though there were a few bumps in the road to happiness through misunderstandings and Orc traditions a happy ending was in the foreseeable future for this captivating couple. I enjoyed this well written story and it’s wonderful characters who delivered a very engaging read.

Awkward Date with a Wicked Orc by Michele Mills is part of the Sweet Monsters Treats world and this was a delicious read!
Lila and Urdan are delightful! So sweet and instantly connected and then life happens in a major way and they're separated and they experience that doubt that everyone feels and then they reunite and it's so scrumptious and swoon worthy! And the miscommunications and stubbornness we all feel and can relate to - I really appreciated how they were represented; we can all get stuck in our heads and our feels sometimes!
This book is engaging, fast paced, spicy, and in general, a fun read that offers just a little escape! The chemistry sizzles, the camaraderie is sweet, and their connection is beautiful. What more could you want from a sweet treat of a read, with a yummy orc at the heart of it?
-A single human mom goes on a blind date with a new orc in town, leading to a hilariously disastrous first date. Despite the mishaps, their chemistry is undeniable, and a fated-mate bond takes hold. While the date scenes are fun and chaotic, the miscommunication and rushed resolution may not work for everyone. A steamy, entertaining novella with a sweet, patient orc hero.
I learned something new from this book, “ Orcs can’t cheat”. That is a really important thing for someone who was cheated on.

It may have started out as an awkward date, but Lila and Urdan really are attracted to each other. Urdan realizes Lila may be the one, however, because Urdan doesn't want to scare Lila off, he tries to take things slow. But due to a family emergency and then obligations, a few weeks end up turning into months and by the time they both know it, so much time has already passed and all just seems hopeless.
Sweet and kind of straight to the point, but the frustration of the lack of communication really made me want to throttle both of them! I'm just glad Lila finally took charge of the situation to keep her wicked Orc. If you enjoy Orc romances, give this book a try.
Lila has trust issues after finding out her husband had cheated on her. It had been quite some time before she decided to go on a blind date set up by her sister and she finds her Orc date to be devilishly handsome. They both decided their first date was fantastic and they both wanted more but there was a delay because of a family emergency and Urdan had to leave. Lila kept doubting Urdan's feelings for her but she took a chance after Urdan returned home. She brought food and Orc ale to his place and he let her in, even in the dark of winter. This is a sweet and steamy romance ending with a very happy ending.
A fun little novela with a slow burn and a cinnamon roll orc. Overall I enjoyed it. There were several running monologues by the two main characters that slowed things down. The "terrible communication" trope is not one of my favorites but does make sense given the difference in cultures. I kind of wish this was a longer book so it was more fleshed out with deeper character development (and more orc steam)!!.

This book is a monster romance with those spicy elements that make your heart race a bit faster as well as those cringe in embarrassment moments that the FMC handled with grace. The exploration of the cultural rifts between humans and orcs, coupled with meaningful character arcs, hidden tidbits, a dash of emotional turmoil, a hint of risk, and the dynamite secondary characters, really tied the whole narrative together beautifully. I found the characters to be relatable and extremely likable and overall, a good and easy read that I enjoyed.
I had high hopes for this book. I was excited to see what the future held for new characters after reading the book Arrested by the Orc, but I felt that this book was lacking.
There was very little smut and very little story for the sister and cousin to the sheriff. The orc meets her one time and then has to spend 5 months away to care for his I’ll father. The orc returns and in a couple pages befriends the FMC’s children and then they become a couple. I feel that they were robbed of a more romantic story.
I wish there had been more plot rather than having it thrown together.
I really enjoyed the story, even though the main characters could be a bit frustrating at times! There were so many moments when I just wanted to shout at them to pick up the phone and call each other already. It’s a bit tough to see them let their insecurities get in the way when they’re apart. But I'm really glad our main male character is a wonderful orc, and it’s heartwarming to see that his efforts have paid off!.

Urdan is the new deputy sheriff working with his cousin. Lila is a single mom of 2 who owns and runs a bakery with her sister. Tropes: Monter, orc, fantasy, small town, dirty talking hero, single mom, deputy sheriff, baker, quick read, OTT instalove HEA romance.
A huge thank you to Michele Mills and Booksprout for providing me with an eARC book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was an entertaining monster romance and I really enjoyed Lila and Urdan together. She's a single mom that went on a blind date with the new orc in town. This was a sweet and fun date that quickly slides into hilarious disaster. Mishaps and miscommunication plague them until their fated mate bond takes hold. Expect to get caught up in the drama, chemistry and hot romance when you dive into this fun read ;D
Urdan & Lila A sweetly romantic orc/human love story. Lila is a divorced single mother. She's a baker along with her sister. Urban is a deputy sheriff and an orc. Going on a blind dates these two meets up and sparks fly. I loved these two. Wonderful characters, steamy, a .little danger, a stubborn protective or, a guarded single mother that wouldn't take being push away even for a short period of time.

Gah, I'm all for stoic but honestly if I could have reached through the pages and swatted Urban's ears I would have done. Miscommunication can add in some fun options but this is just bordering on the edge of a bit too much for me. That said I loved the date with Lila and the sprinkling of Murphy's Law over the whole thing. It was a fun, easy read and I love whenever I can return to this series.
Lila is a single mom, and Urdan is an Orc. When these two have their first awkward date they find themselves instantly attracted to each other. This is a quick, cute, awkward date romance with likable characters and a sweet ending. Awkward Date With a Wicked Orc is book eight and a great addition to the multi-author Sweet Monster Treats series, and I look forward to reading the rest of the series. Lila lets her sister fix her up on a blind date with her Orc husband’s cousin, Urdan. The date is a catastrophe from the start but still Lila and Urdan hit it off. Unfortunately Urdan is called to his sick father’s bedside that very night and due to past hang ups Lila doesn’t contact him. When Urdan returns in the dark of winter he knows he has to stay away from Lila for her safety but when Lila learns his true feelings she claims her Orc in this fun read.
Lila is convinced by her sister to start dating after getting a divorce from her cheating husband. Urdan is new to the area and is not used to living in close proximity to humans. The tale is funny and hot!!!.

Lila is Sadie’s sister. She is set up with Bowens cousin Urdan who is fresh from the orc commune. Lila has two small children Lacy and Justin from her first marriage These two have a great first date. It does have some minor hiccups but they both a have great time. At the end of it Urdan gets a call that takes him back to his dad and the commune for months which sends mixed feelings to Lila.
Human Lila and Orc Urdan are set up on a blind date and hit off right away. In fact Urban is sure that she is his fated mate. But even though they want to be together circumstances are keeping them apart. Cute spicy romance.

Having trust issues doesn't stop her instant attraction to this sexy Orc, and his dirty talk. I did get a bit frustrated at all the stumbling blocks that kept them apart from mostly miscommunication on both of their parts, and his Father for not giving him the notes addressed to him. Somehow though they get their HEA.
A cute insta-love alien/ human romance. Urdan Overthrow has left the Orc commune & has come to the town to work in the sheriff’s office with his cousin Bowen. He has a wonderful first date with single mom Lila. Then it falls a bit flat for me—I wanted to read more about the couple together and the integration of the children. Won’t stop me from reading about more Orcs in the future.
I so love this he is new to town..new orc deputy.. she returns home after being divorced..with her children..they are set up on date...and they hit it off..but he has tu rush to help his father..and comes back in the dark winter..he trys to stay away..to be civlizied..but can he???.

This was another wonderful visit to Fairhaven Falls. I enjoy reading all the stories about the fated matches of all the characters in this town. I was rooting for this couple even though they were separated for months after their first date. Because of her audacity, they finally got together and achieved their HEA.
The author has given us a wonderful story that pulls us into the lives of Lila and Urdan. The heartwarming story keeps us turning the pages with humor, a blind date, unexpected separation, determination and steam.
