But first some background: Over the last 20 years, I've written books, magazine and newspaper articles, for online and for television. I get to write about a wide range of subjects, everything from axolotls to zoroastrianism. However, my specialties are natural history, technology and all things scientific. I've worked on projects with Brian May, Patrick Moore, Marcus de Sautoy and Carol Vorderman and for major international publishers, such as Dorling Kindersley, National Geographic, Scholastic, Hachette, Facts on File and BBC Magazines.
I spend my days finding fun ways of communicating all kinds of facts, new and old, to every age group and reading ability. I live in Bristol, England, with my wife and three children. I studied zoology at Bristol University and have had spells working at the zoos in Jersey and Surrey. I used to be something of a conservationist, which included planting trees in Somerset, surveying Vietnamese jungle and rescuing buffaloes from drought-ridden Zimbabwe. Writing jobs have also taken me to the Galápagos Islands, the Amazon rainforest, the coral reefs of Indonesia and the Sahara Desert. Nowadays, I can be found mainly in the attic."

We all know by now how much I love The Magic School Bus series and this is no exception to that. This book showcase all different types of insects and gives great to the point information. It shows awesome pictures of the insects as well. I really like that they gave real pictures instead of drawings because it gives students the realistic image of the insect they are reading about. Since this is a nonfiction book the pictures are also awesome because they are so realistic. Another informative, creative, amazing book from scholastic and The Magic School bus crew. Another must have in my future classroom!!

We love reading about Ms. Frizzle and her class as they explore the world around us. In this book we take a look at different insects.

With full photographs, the contents of the books caught my eyes on every pages. Narrative and non-narrative texts are well blended when the facts regarding various topics are described. The last page of the book introduces occupations related to the topic, and it also gives children to think about various professions in this world.
But what I am curious about the contents is where these information come from. Every photograph has a copy right, and the book indicates the permission of these photos, while information regarding the topics do not have resources. There are some quotes like “experts say …”, and ‘frizzle fact’ illustrate facts pertaining to the issues on the page. Then, do we need to believe ‘the facts’ because they are related by non-fiction format?

Insects are so cool! Equal parts gross and gorgeous. Of course photos that are way up close help to appreciate the details. This entry is sure to inspire budding entomologists.
