As a psychologist, Mallory Blake knew there were times when one had to let go. She also knew just how much it hurt. After her husband's death, she'd packed up her belongings and moved to San Francisco, wishing it was as easy to box up her memories and seal away her regrets. But she had her patients at the hospital who helped her move forward, patients like six–year–old Davey. The broken little boy needed Mallory–not that his doctor agreed.
Mallory had heard the rumors about neurosurgeon Justin Whitmore. She had experienced firsthand his temper, his impossible standards and his undeniable charm. But beneath all of that, Mallory discovered Justin hid an old pain, one she wasn't sure she could heal. And yet she couldn't walk away from him. Because there were times when it was right to move on…and times when you took someone's hand and never let go.
With two other careers to her credit before becoming a novelist and four states in which she's lived for extended periods of time, Sherryl Woods has collected friends and memories, along with way too much unnecessary junk.
"The friends are the only things I've brought with me through the years that really matter," she says. "I could probably live without one more chintz teacup, another tin-litho sandpail or another snowglobe, but I need those friends."
The theme of enduring friendships and families is always central to Sherryl's books, including her latest Chesapeake Shores series — THE INN AT EAGLE POINT, FLOWERS ON MAIN and HARBOR LIGHTS.
Author of more than 100 romance and mystery novels, Sherryl Woods grew up in Virginia. Over the years she had lived in Ohio and Florida, as well as California. Currently she divides her time between Key Biscayne, Florida and Colonial Beach, Virginia, the small, river-front town where she spent her childhood summers.
A graduate of Ohio State University School of Journalism, Sherryl spent more than ten years as a journalist, most of them as a television critic for newspapers in Ohio and Florida. For several years she also coordinated a motivational program for the more than 8,000 employees at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center.
Her first book, RESTORING LOVE, was published in 1982 by Dell Candlelight Ecstasy under the pseudonym of Suzanne Sherrill. Her second book, SAND CASTLES, under the pseudonym of Alexandra Kirk, was published later that same year by Bantam. She began using her own name when she moved to the Second Chance at Love line at Berkley Publishing. In 1986, she began writing full-time and also began her long career at Silhouette Books with the Desire title NOT AT EIGHT, DARLING, set in the world of television which she covered for so many years.
In addition to her more than 75 romances for Silhouette Desire and Special Edition, she has written thirteen mysteries — nine in the Amanda Roberts series and four in the Molly DeWitt series.
When she's not writing or reading, Sherryl loves to garden, though she's not at her best on a riding lawn mower. She also loves tennis, theater, and ballet, even though her top spin has long since vanished, she's never set foot on a stage, and she's way too uncoordinated to dance. She also loves baseball and claims anyone who's ever seen Kevin Costner in "Bull Durham" can understand why.
I always enjoy and love the stories I read of Sheryl Woods and I enjoyed this one too! Two doctors not always agreeing on what’s the best way to take care of a patient and in the mean time these two said doctors are falling in love! It’s a great story and the characters are wonderful!
Neurology resident, Justin Whitmore & Mallory Blake, widowed psychologist team up to help 6y old Davey. Love changes the austere dr. Nice romance btwn professionals and MB's friendship with Rachel a delight. New reissue by HQN under Bestselling Author Collection.
A very fast read, lovely characters and amusing dialog. I enjoy this story from the beginning where a psychologist and neurosurgeon have a strong disagreement about the role doctors should play in the life of a young boy who had been assaulted. The only problem I had with this story is that the psychology was a little to pat. It didn't deviate or add any quirks as life so often does. I did enjoy the people but they were a little too expected for me.
two stories in one book Never let go was a nice love story A Soldier's Secret by RaeTanne Thayne was my favorite of the two as I enjoyed the relationship taking off before she knew he was the nephew.
Although I am a big Sherryl Woods fan, I struggled with this story. I had expected it to work up to these two tough characters to relate but it happened in the very beginning of the story. I still enjoyed it though.
This was a wonderful story and very hard to but down. Sherry did an amazing book on how 2 doctors fought hard not to fall for each other but a little boy helped then see how love they shared. Well written.
Once again Sheryl Woods provides interesting characters, just the right amount of tension in the plot, and great character development to result in another winning novel. Thanks again for continuing to entertain in a special way.
I enjoy this author’s style of writing. I always enjoy the characters that she chooses, and the things that they go through and their relationships. This is a very nice light read for those who enjoy contemporary romance novels.

Then you day somebody special walks into your life and you realise that you have to deal with all of your own secrets to live your life to the fullest.
Mallory a psychologist gets drawn close to a very stubborn neurosurgeon Justin Whitmore by one of their patients, a young boy named Davey. Mallory soon realises that she is falling in love with Justin. Justin tries his hardest to put up a front to keep Mallory at a distance, but it doesn't seem to be working. His defense slowly gets broken down till one day he realises how much he loves her.
It took him so long to figure it out that he has to run after her, to make sure he doesn't lose her forever.
Davey, anak korban kekerasan rumah tangga, yg menyatukan Mallory (psikiater) & Justin (dokter bedah syaraf). Sebel dgn karakter Mallory yg selalu memaklumi arogansi & penolakan Justin, jual mahal dikit napa.
This book was a 3.5 stars just because of the subject matter. I think it could have been a longer book with more details but the storyline was very interesting. Dr. Justin Whitmore was afraid that his past would effect his future and Mallory Blake, PhD. was sure it wouldn't. She wanted to help and he turned her away. Love always trumps fears.
It was a quick read, but not as good as most of her other books. This is a reissue of a 1998 book. Her writing has matured and improved since then. It was not awful, but certainly not up to the standards I have come to expect from this author.
Nice story with some nice angst. Guy who's unwilling to admit to having emotions, heroine who knows he can't ignore them. Nicely angsty, with the usual Woods skill.
