The Fallen Demon is book two of the new adult fantasy series, Nightcaster Chronicles. This story continues from book one and I would recommend reading the series in order to get the most from the story.

Currently stuck in 18th century Spain, witch Brielle has temporarily settled into her life here with a clan of vampires. She is helping to rid the city of demons, however when a werewolf pack arrive claiming that they want an alliance, something more sinister enters the fray.

I have been enjoying this series. The setting works well and the budding relationship between Brielle and vampire leader Leo is promising. The story continues in book three.

original review on my blog Boekensteeg

The Fallen Demon is the second book in The Nightcaster Chronicles by R.L. Perez and the sequel to The Cursed Witch.

However, Leo senses that something dark is waiting. Together with Brielle he tries to find out what this might be , and during this search they grow closer together. When a pack of werewolves suddenly arrives in town, Leo must hide Brielle's true nature. Will he succeed in this?

While Leo is busy with the werewolves, he discovers that they are not the dark thing Brielle and Leo have been looking for. While Leo continues this quest by himself, he finds himself in a dangerous situation that confronts him with his past, and with Lilith. What does Lilith want from Leo? What dangers will await for him? Will he be able to beat Lilith?

In the first book Brielle played the biggest role, however in The Fallen Demon the roles are better divided between Brielle and Leo. In the book's synopsis, R.L. Perez warns you for strong sexual content and a cliffhanger at the end. The cliffhanger's trigger warning is certainly justified. However, the story rarely features sexual scenes and personally I can therefore not see it as strong sexual content.

In The Fallen Demon you will be introduced to a few new characters. In addition Leo's and Brielle's characters will be further developed. Where The Cursed Witch was more of an mysterious adventure, The Fallen Demon is more of a search for danger. Brielle must learn to deal with her powers, and also tries to understand Nix better.

As in the first part, this book is full of adventure, mystery and various creatures. I thought the pack of werewolves were a very nice addition to the story. They ensure that the story develops further, and with this you learn more about Leo's past.

Although I already knew there would be a cliffhanger in the ending, I wasn't worrying on this while reading. Before I knew it, I had finished The Fallen Demon, and I am very curious about the third book called The Lost Phoenix.

Book 2 in the Nightcaster Chronicles picks up a few months after the first book ended, with Brielle and her family now living in the past, tentatively at peace with the vampire clan who rules the area- and with the unknown uncertainty of Lilith looming over their heads. On top of everything else, a new threat shows up with questionable motives. Leo and Bri are willing to fight the evil they have to face, but survival is not guaranteed.

In the first book, the story was pretty much focused on Brielle, but I really liked here we get to see her family in action, and boy did I miss Oliver and Desi. Yes, Bri is still the main narrator (besides Leo, which I loved how much we got to see inside his conflicted head!) but the side characters took a larger role that I appreciated here. I had forgotten how capable and skilled Desi is and loved her taking character and battling werewolves and overall evil.

Wow the romance amped up in this one! I was not really feeling Leo as Bri's love interest, especially while he was activelly having sex with someone else during a good chunk of the book- and yes I understand she is his donor, but they didn't need the hanky panky! But after feelings were confessed, there was a super hot (yet frustrating) encounter and then I was more on team Bri-Leo (Briloe?). This is very much a slow burn relationship, developing over the course of almost 2 complete books and I am interested to see how it will play out in the next book.

The ending is for sure not the end, Bri has more battling to go and evil to overcome. This was another solid read set in this magical world which borders right on the edge of what is good and evil. This is a great series for anyone who loves dark fantasy and complex characters.

This is a great series that I am really enjoying! A fab paranormal story filled with shifters, witches and vampires and once you pick this up you will not be able to put this down! Exciting and intriguing we have Leo and Brielle who continue to grow and develop as does our addictive storyline with its twists and turns and that ending?? OMG!

I'm not usually a fan of time travel stories, but this has become the exception. Brielle's character takes huge leaps as she deals with what was done to her and what her position is now that the initial battle is over. The development of Leo and Brielle's relationship, the re-emergence of Lilith, and all of the further development of this world have made this a really fun and engaging fantasy.

the fallen demon by RL Perez. The overall story is good but there are breaks throughout the story. There are parts of the story that only give a little bit of detail and other parts you get more than needed

Holy smoke, that was absolutely fantastic. The intense storyline had me holding my breath more times than I could count, Leo is an incredible character. I loved him pretty much from the first book, his personality is complex and sometimes a little possessive. He holds loyalty above just about everything, becoming dangerous if you break his trust. He leads his coven with a firm, but fair hand. Brielle is strong even though she is barely an adult, not yet 18. She's rash and jumps into things without any real plan most of the time, but she's also determined and stubborn which sometimes her mouth lands her in trouble. My favourite thing about this book, is the switching between both Leo and Brielle's perspectives. It gives you a really good look at each character's thoughts and feelings, giving the story a much deeper emotional connection. The book was so fascinating I simply couldn't put it down, the narration is done really well. I love her accent when portraying Leo, then upping her pitch slightly for Brielle. This series is a 3 book trilogy, and this is the second book. It's also the very first series I bought on kindle which drew me to the author, I love R.L. Perez's writing. It's filled with magic, amazing and descriptive fight scenes, and whirlwind romances that never run smoothly. The intensity and emotion in her books practically floor you, I highly recommend reading any of her books they will blow your mind. After reading the ebook, I also listened to the audiobook. Both are absolutely fantastic, though I did enjoy the audiobook more.

Audible listen. Narrator does a really good job. She fits the characters well; she does a good job on the male voice as well! Quality performance.

Entertaining characters and action! Enjoy the witch and vampire magic aspects! Witch Brielle and Vampire Leo must team up to defeat Lilith before she takes over and kills many. Unfortunately, the team work isn’t reaching the level it needs to, so there’s problems all over. There’s also a bit of a connection between Leo and Brielle, but both are trying to deny it. I still really hate that Leo sleeps with his donor; especially since it’s not necessary for him to feed, but I do think Leo and Brielle have a sweet connection. I think there needed to be more time showing them growing together, but they’re cute. I wasn’t a fan of the characters so easily giving into/falling for whatever the bad guys want; some of the choices made by Brielle and especially Leo were just the worst, but I do appreciate Brielle’s tenacity. Looking forward to reading how these characters end up; this one has a major cliffhanger. Overall, an entertaining read with an interesting premise!

Similar to the first book, there were aspects that just weren’t for me but I still did enjoy the book.

One such aspect is the “you lied now I can’t forgive you or be around you”, this bothered me a lot as not only is she still young, the secret that caused this rift wasn’t something that would harm her. The sister kept the secret because she was scared and she had a right to be, Brielle acted exactly as she feared.
Sometimes Brielle just acts so immaturely that it grinds my gears.

Leo on the other hand is polar opposite, his character is very well flushed out, he acts his age and knows right from wrong. I really enjoy reading about him.

There are some natures order elements that do throw me off the book. For instance, at first Lilith could only possess nightcasters (don’t quote me on the name) but in this book she can possess practically everyone. There doesn’t seem to be a particular persona for the villain anymore.

Overall, still a good read, I’m already on the third. I only wish for the main character to grow up a bit.

Book 2 in The Night Caster Chronicles continues Brielle’s story, Lilith has disappeared following the battle, but nobody is fooled into thinking she has been banished for good. Brielle’s phoenix seems to have gone dormant again, and Brielle and her family live along side Leo’s coven in the village. Though it is not easy and certainly not helped by the growing feelings they both deny and try to fight.
Soon enough trouble turns up in form of a werewolf called Benny and his pack and Lillith makes her presence felt again.

True to form R.L. Perez weaves an action packed tale of romance and betrayal, and fierce foes engaging in magical and physical battles.

I am pleased to find that Naomi Rose-Mock, from the first Time Caster novel, narrates the second book in the series, keeping it consistent and again she very successfully gives the characters from various countries the inflections or accents from their native language.

I received this book in audio book format free from the author and am leaving this review of my own volition.

Wow what a great second book in this series! After finishing the first book I was extremely eager to find out what happened next and I can confirm that it was not disappointing! I feel like I know all of the characters in this book and feel everything that they are going through thanks to RL Perez’ fantastic writing style.

The story has developed at a nice pace... not too quickly so you feel like it is being rushed but not too slowly so as to drag.

I really enjoy all of the twists and turns that happen in this series and that ending!

I look forward to the next book (I don’t actually know if I can handle the wait) to find out what happens to everyone! Thank you for another fantastic book!

Oh my! This book was magnificent. I am in love with Leo and Brielle. They have this amazing chemistry and personalities that blend together so well. I love their banter and at times their fights. This book in the series is jammed packed full with action, drama, suspense, and mystery. It pulled me in and didn’t let go. It had me on the edge of my seat with anticipation and wonder. I love that we get to see more of Desi and Oliver this book. They added so much more depth to the story. This is one stunning story that does not disappoint. It will draw you in and have you so engaged in the story. Yes, it does end in a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to see what happens next. This is an absolute must read!

We continue our story with Leo and Brie and going back and forth between their points of views. I did like that this one felt like it was more from Leo's point of view, it's always fun to change it up some. Now that the problem with the time loop and so forth has been solved, our parties all still have the issue of Lilith trying to come through and wreck havoc on the world. Of course, she already kind of starts doing that in this novel! I loved the quick pace of the novel and especially that our love story gets a little bit more steamy, the ending though.....phew, far warning it is a DOOZY of a cliff hanger! Can't wait to pick up the next novel!

Book 2 of the Nightcaster Chronicles follows Brielle, a teenage witch & Leo, a vampire coven leader as they grow closer to each other & struggle against a new threat to the residents of Segovia.

This book has lots of action & mystery, as well as a slow burn romance. I enjoyed it more than the first book. As with the first book, I did find myself a bit confused with some of the details or "rules" of the magic in this fantasy world & could have benefitted with a bit more background explanation written in. The ending was really well written & I was glued to the book towards the ending & couldn't read fast enough. Looking forward to book 3.

It was so hard to put down. The characters keep you interested until you’re halfway through the book, then all of the “oh no” moments start. I can’t wait for the next one. I am pretty sure that Brie is more bad ass than her mom. I love Leo and I love him and Brie together, one of my favorite things about this book is that they tell each other stuff. I can’t stand when characters are all I love you but I can’t tell you what’s going on. That doesn’t happen here, they have real communication and I am all for it.

There was too much going on. Leo and Brielle beat Lilith, the queen of the underworld, and are trying to figure out their relationship. But then the bad guys start coming out of the woodwork. It was chaotic keeping track of all the forces working against them. Also, the rules of Magic (time travel and possession, mostly) seemed to change throughout the story.
I liked seeing Leo and Brielle figuring out how to work together given their different fighting styles and it was enjoyable to see the characters navigating their new lives.

Book 2 of the Nightcaster Chronicles did not disappoint. I may have enjoyed it more then book 1.

Brielle grew as a character and you really see her become her own person and shy away from some of her childish attitudes. She is a fierce warrior and I love that she can take care of herself.

The story was interesting, adding new characters on top of the old. Very well done and I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

This sequel blew me away with the action! I loved that Brielle's family continued to be involved in the series. There were a lot of twists that kept me reading. I do find the title a bit ironic since demons are already fallen, but it makes more sense once you read the book. Nix was a compelling, supportive character, and I enjoyed the scenes between Brielle and Angel.***I received a free copy in exchange for a honest review.***

Yet again I loved this book. A great sequel with the slow burn love story to break your heart. Perez even managed to articulate the conflicting emotions I had regarding some of the burgeoning side relationships that were growing in this book that I was struggling with but once she acknowledged it through the characters it fell into place. Leo and Brielle are quickly becoming some of my favorite creatures of the night!

This is tough. I really liked the first book, I was really interested in the characters and I thought the plot was unique and cool. But this second book felt rushed. Everything happened so quickly, things were just explained and I didn't feel the characters working much. I wish the book has about 200 more pages to explore things more and slow down.

A great follow up to the first book! I really enjoyed Brielle and Leo in this book! This book does get a little steamy for my tastes but aside from that I really enjoyed this book! It was super fun to see their relationship develop and the action and magic are always well done! The ending makes you want to go out and buy book 3! Can't wait to read the next book!

We get more of Leo in this one! This is a plus and the chemistry between Brielle and Leo is super charged. Brielle is on the other side now and fighting the aftereffects of her stay in the castle. Lilith is still a threat. Story is steady paced. We see some familiar faces show up again to help. Brielle is still unsure as to where to turn. Bit of a cliffhanger ending.

In the Fallen Demon (Nightcaster Chronicles#2) by R.L. Perez Darkness brews and a new threat emerges. War breaks out and lives are at stake. Leo will do anything to protect his coven, even paying the ultimate price. I received this book as part of a boxset through bookfunnel and am enjoying the series. The books are available both individually and as a boxset on Amazon and I definitely recommend.

My review is based on the audiobook. Book 2 continues this fast paced series. It is told by 2 POV's which brings an extra dimension to the story. I like that in this installment we get to know other characters better. The narrator is fantastic at bringing the story and character to life. I look forward to more in the series and by this author.

Real enjoyed the story.
It contains sex scenes, some violence but has no course language.
The narrator is great, each character their own unique voice, adding to the story.
I would listen to Sample before getting book. As people‘s tastes very.
