Azrael My name is as notorious as I am. I’m the devil personified, or so I’m told. Born in the underworld with one purpose, to lead our family name and strike fear in all. My darkness is my strength, and in the Mafia world, that’s everything. When a small fragile girl falls at my feet at one of my family’s infamous auctions, I take her as mine. To use as I see fit. For now, she will be what I need her to be—nothing more. Before I can fully comprehend what’s happening, I’m feeling things I never knew I was capable of, seeing into a future I never desired. But there’s evil running through my veins, dimming any light that ever dared to shine, and when our Don threatens to extinguish her light, I make a promise: vengeance will become my penance, and I welcome the pain it will bring. I’m Azrael Carrera, the devil incarnate, and this is my destiny.
Hevan They say he’s the lesser of two evils, so I either become his slave or face a fate worse than death. But how can a man so sinister turn me inside out with only a glance? How could I have fallen so easily for my captor? The man who thinks he’s unlovable. When he finally opens up to me, it brings devastating consequences, a bitter reminder of why our lives will always be worlds apart. He lets me go in order to save me, but who will save him? Can he find his way back to me, or will the darkness consume him?
(A must read for fans of dark mafia romance, with high stakes, steamy tension and a broken, flawed anti-hero.)
Can be read as a stand-alone and a well earned HEA. Please check author website for content breakdown.
This book was not what I thought it was going to be, and honestly, that made it even better 🙌🏼
Azrael is exactly the kind of peak mafia boss we all love, dark, powerful and completely intimidating. But Haven? She completely caught me off guard. I went in expecting a timid, shy FMC and instead got a total hellcat. She’s fierce, unapologetic and constantly fighting for her freedom while still allowing herself to be vulnerable. That mix made her feel so real and so easy to root for.🖤
Without spoiling anything, Azrael and Haven’s journey is hands down one of my favorites in BJ Alpha’s universe. The way their past traumas collide with their present struggles and how they fight for a future filled with love and happiness was emotional, raw, and incredibly satisfying.🤌🏼
As always make sure to check the trigger warnings before diving in 🚨
And now excuse me while I impatiently wait for Czar’s book, because I cannot wait for his story.
devoured this book, eat it the F up. finished it in 1 go, because I could not put it down.
Azrael is such an alpha asshole, untill he finds her. He sacrifices everything for her, they have to through hell to find the light. But they find it and what a beautiful light it is.
❤️🖤“When all you see is darkness, find the brightest star in the sky.”🖤❤️
I loved this book so much. This is the second book in the Carrera family series. I do recommend reading stone but they are interconnected stand-alone, so If you read this book before stone it’s okay.
What 👏🏼 a 👏🏼 book! Had me page turning like a maniac. Azrael has taken the number one spot for my favourite, he is top tier 👌🏼
This is a dark mafia romance with a HEA and book 2 of the Carrera Family, but it can be read as a standalone. The content, both on and off page, will NOT be suitable for everyone. It covers topics that are mega heavy and may be triggering to some. You MUST proceed with caution; your mental health matters.
I always say BJA cannot top her previous book but every time I’m wrong! I don’t know how she does it, but she does. Every. Damn. Time.
This story was not only hot; it was intense, so full of raw emotion that the last 25% had me crying and all up in my feels, and it was thrilling. It was a ride, that’s for sure. This book right here is another example of why I love BJAs writing. You get more than a story, it’s a storm of feelings and wicked character building. The writing style brings the words to life and pulls you in head first.
This book ticked all my boxes; the plot twists kept me on my toes and emotionally destroyed me, the chemistry between Hevan and Azrael was delicious, and the characters themselves were *chef’s kiss*, they were beautifully written and the development was on point.
Azrael demanded attention, his presence in the book had me holding my breath at points. He definitely lived up to his namesake. His growth was everything though, had me swooning like a good ‘un. As I said earlier, top spot now belongs to him. There was more to him than he cared to show; his connection to his Nonna was so sweet, and everything he did was for family. I adored his bond with Czar too! Got me excited for his book! Hevan was feisty and I lived for it, every damn second. She gave Azrael a run for his money and it was hilarious to watch him navigate this fiery woman that turned his life upside down.
This book was just perfection; the characters, the plot, the tension, the twists… everything was absolutely perfect!
BJA is one of my auto-buy authors, and this is why. I will follow her br33der men to the end of the earth. I’m obsessed.

Hold please I have to pick up my jaw before I can get into this review!… My brain has spazzed and I feel like I got factory rebooted the ups and downs highs and lows and the emotions I felt while reading this book are unbelievably strong!
After months of MANY and I mean MANY of us waiting for this book so to say I devoured this book in about 3 hours give or take within the day! I literally couldn’t put it down. I think this book has made me the most emotionally attached with the characters. I felt every pang of guilt, every tear, every smile, every fit of laughter. BJ put her SOUL into writing this it just felt and hit different than the other books I’ve read from her she’s one of my FAVORITE authors and to say that feels like I’m cheating on the rest of my babies by her but it’s the truth!
The spice🔥-🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (yes this is 6 I know😛) The story line📖- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The book overall📚-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The spice- The spice was spicin Man!! The emotional spice the banter and the flat out HAWT scenes every last one of them builds a deeper connection that feels so intimate between the characters and myself. I was drooling, giggling, fearful of her brattiness, Azrael this dark devil himself kinda guy and his counter part Hevan you just know that those two HAVE to be together, the light and the dark both need the other to be the best of what they are!
The storyline- the DRAMA the plot twists the betrayals, the flat out evil of some people, you can so much as smell and taste everything from this book it’s soo in depth and just so AAAGHHH I can’t even put it into words it’s just amazing and if I could go back and re read this for the first time I’d do some CRAZY things to be able to do so!
The book overall- The book overall is perfectly balanced you’re not lost in just plot but it’s not through and through smut and even in the smut you’re getting important plot details and little bits for later down into the book, the foreshadowing is amazing but not so much details that’s it’s spoiling anything for you, BUT THE END?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! Nothing I mean NOTHING could have prepared me for that ending! Now I am waiting (not so patiently may I add) for Czars book!!
If you’re contemplating reading anything by BJ Alpha just do it, it will be some of the best reads of your life. If I’m in a slump and need something I know is consistently great BJ is the first section of myself I turn to! Without a doubt always consistently amazing and continues to get better and better!
My brain is completely short-circuiting after finishing this book. I am having a full-blown emotional meltdown and genuinely don’t know how to function right now.
I’ve been waiting months for this release… and asking if it was good feels almost insulting. Good doesn’t even begin to touch what this book did to me. BJ’s writing has reached an entirely new level—deeper, darker, more powerful, and absolutely devastating in the best possible way.
I am not okay. I need time to breathe, cry, stare at the wall, and emotionally recover before I can even attempt a full review—because WOW. Just… WOW. LIKE WTF WTF WTF WOW!!!!
And Nonna… 😭😭😭 my heart is in pieces.
I will be back once I’ve processed what I just experienced, because this book deserves a proper, heartfelt review. Right now, all I can say is that this story wrecked me—and I wouldn’t change a single thing. 💔📖
OK I AM BACK!!!!!
Long ago, I stumbled upon BJ Alpha through Daddy’s Addiction and Veiled in Hate, and from that moment on, I devoured everything she wrote. I didn’t just become a fan—I became a die-hard, obsessed fan. Watching her growth as an author has been incredible, and it truly feels special to be along for the ride.
BJ was already an exceptional writer when I first found her, but with every new release she continues to level up in ways that leave me in awe. And Azarael? That book is something entirely different. It’s on a whole new plane. “Amazing” doesn’t even come close to describing it.
This story shattered my heart and then slowly, beautifully pieced it back together. It’s raw, emotional, powerful—just… wow. I finished it and sat there in silence, still feeling everything it put me through.
I am counting down the seconds until CZAR, the next book in this series. I won’t spoil a single thing, but trust me when I say this: read Azarael on January 20th. Just do it. You will not be disappointed.
If you’re not already following BJ Alpha, now is the time. Hop on the BJ Alpha train—because once you’re on, you’ll never want to get off. ❤️📚🔥
Azrael by BJ Alpha is a dark, high‑heat romance about a ruthless crime boss and the woman forced into his world, centering on themes of power, ownership, trauma, and a brutal, obsessive kind of love. And plenty of heat!
The story follows Azrael Carrera—the devil incarnate—and Hevan, a woman who must choose between becoming his, or facing an even worse fate, as their relationship shifts from captivity and control into a twisted, soul‑deep connection. Azrael holds immense power and a terrifying reputation as a man you do not cross, underscoring his role as a feared, morally brutal anti‑hero who operates without apology in a violent world. There are very few people he trusts, and he must keep his eyes and ears open for signs of betrayal within and outside his family. And there are plenty.
Hevan is thrust into his orbit when she is told Azrael is the lesser of two evils, forcing her into a choice that is really no choice at all: either become his slave or suffer something darker at another man’s hands. She understandably craves freedom, but as she spends more time with Azrael, there’s an inner conflict between the need to survive within Azrael’s control and a desperate desire to reclaim her autonomy. Despite his cruelty and dominance, Azrael’s feelings for Hevan quickly become obsessive and consuming. She’s nothing like the women he’s been involved with, and it’s both refreshing, and scary for him.
As their relationship develops, Hevan becomes the emotional counterweight to Azrael’s darkness. Steering toward a love that feels fated and deeply emotional, even as it grows from a place of captivity and heavy power imbalance. As their bond to one another strengthens, it’s transformative for both of them. For Azrael, it challenges his belief that he is unlovable, and for Hevan, it tests the line between coerced survival and genuine, consuming love. Both are learning so much from each other.
Although dark with some seriously heavy themes, the love that grew out of this seemingly impossible moment in time, was beautiful and heartwarming.
Azrael is the heir to the Carrera family. ‘The devil in the dark’
His Nonna always showed him compassion & love, she believed he had light in his soul, her little “La mia Luce” In a cruel world of darkness she encouraged him to search for the brightest star in the sky to escape his darkness but his father believes that the more cruel you are, proves your worth & existence in the world of which they come from. He destroyed every spark of happiness with his cruelty & brutality in Azrael young life.
One night Azrael was forced to take his first step into the life of a man he never wanted to be, changing his life. He was only ten years old. Gone is the innocent boy Azrael was, he now lives up to his name "devil" he now has a reputation to withhold & strikes fear in most people.
Hevan wakes up in her very own nightmare, one where she’s forced to choose between becoming Azrael ‘Toy’ & somewhere so much worse. Azrael is her only option so becomes his captive. She soon sees beneath the surface of the mask he wears & develop feelings toward him.
When her first spots Hevan something inside of him called to her, he wants to keep her. She brings out feelings in him, things he wasn't even sure he was capable of feeling anymore.
Azrael can’t afford to show weakness, especially to his father so to the outside world he remains cruel, emotionless & dominating. She reminds him of his Nonna’s words that he is more than just his fathers pawn. Now determined to keep her…… No matter what it costs him!
I honestly can’t recommend this book highly enough. You know when you start a book and you just know it's going to be a doozie ~ I knew straight away. First few pages in and I was hooked.
Azrael had the perfect mix that kept me gripped throughout. The drama, The $€x. The tension.. The angst. The secrets & suspense. And oh my God, the straight fire that are these two.
B.J Alpha delivers a tale that is both dark & thrilling, with characters that readers will root for from beginning to end.
I finished this book and immediately lost the ability to be a functional human being.
There was no easing out of it. No gentle closing of the cover and moving on with my day. Just me, sitting there, emotionally overloaded, trying to remember how breathing works. I waited *so long* for this release, and asking whether it was “good” feels laughably inadequate. That word doesn’t even exist on the same scale as what this story delivers.
BJ Alpha didn’t just raise the bar—she obliterated it. Her writing here is heavier, sharper, more intense, and unapologetically brutal in the most beautiful way. I needed space after finishing. Space to cry. Space to think. Space to stare into nothingness and let the aftermath settle. A proper review simply wasn’t possible right away.
Following her journey as a writer has been an absolute privilege, because each book shows just how much she continues to evolve.
She was already talented from the beginning, but with every release, she pushes herself further. And *Azarael*? That one exists in a category of its own. It’s not just another step forward—it’s a leap into something extraordinary.
This story broke me open and then, piece by piece, put me back together again. It’s intense, vulnerable, haunting, and deeply moving. Even after I finished, the emotions lingered, heavy and unresolved, refusing to let go.
I am already impatiently waiting for *CZAR*, because if this book is any indication of what’s coming next, I’m not ready—but I absolutely am. I won’t give anything away, but hear me when I say this: on January 20th, pick up *Azarael*. Trust the process. Trust the pain. It’s worth it.
And if BJ Alpha isn’t already on your radar, fix that immediately. Once you step into her world, there’s no turning back—and you won’t want to.
Before reading this make sure to check do your trigger warning before hand! And if you haven’t read Stone yet I suggest you do that before diving into Azreal.
I’m not okay!! How can you be after this ride with such raw emotions, sometimes your heart is so full of love, the next you wan to cry your eyes out, and then it beats so fast with fear and excitement….. she doesn’t draw you into a story she draws you into a different world, a world you can’t escape from even if you wanted to… because YES! She is that good!
When all you know is the darkest darkness you need to find your brightest light in your world, and that’s what happens to Azreal the moment he lays his eyes on Heaven. From the moment their world collides I just felt that they were the perfect match together and while I loved Stones story I loved Azreals so much more.
Azreal is the typical mafia son with cold and with no emotions, dark and powerful and always get his way one way or another.. but is that really all that he is, is it more to the monster he has become? The character development from Azreal was just top notch to me. He looked just liked his father but he was nothing like him, he was more like his mother or his Nona if you look beyond the surface.
Haven suprised me all in good ways, I thought she would be this quiet, scared and shy girl. But she is a fighter.. she constantly fights for her freedom and talks back when she isn’t soupose to, totally bad ass but with a vulnerable side you get to se some glimpses to.
All he did for them to be able to be together was so beautiful yet so devastating, and the twist in the end I didint see that coming at all but I welcome it.
BJ always makes the men that you cannot help but fall in love with. I cannot say that there is a single one of her guys that I don't love in one way or another. They all have different personalities and have different dark past but they all have one thing in common. When they find the one that was meant to be their light in the darkness they fall hard and protect even harder. Azrael is no exception to the rule. She has a fantastic way of developing not only the story but also the characters. You always see the growth and you cannot help but root for them to finally get it right. At the beginning of the story I was a little skeptical of him due to things he was forced to do to be come the man his father wanted him to be. He needed to be ruthless to survive his father. His father is the definition of evil. The way he treated his sons is absolutely attrocious. Heavan is literally his savior. She brings light to his darkness. She is pure an innocent. She makes Azrael want to be a better man. They don't have a typical relationship at first. Azrael has to learn to be a better man because he wants to make her happy but he also has to keep his love and devotion for her secret. They go through a lot of ups and downs but through it all they will rise above it. I will say this the ending was a tear jerker. I was not expecting the big twist at the end of the book. I am so happy it ended the way it did. I cannot wait to see what happens next in Czar's book. It was great to see our guy Owen from the Storm Series in this book. If you are looking for a great mafia romance book full of spice then this is the book for you.
"When all you see is darkness, find the brightest star in the sky."
What a book! I couldn't put this down.
I never thought anything would top 'Veiled in Hate' - Luca was top of her books since the day I read it .. but my gosh Azrael just knocked him off.
After my prolonged break from mafia romance this superseded all my expectations and then some! Azrael and haven's story is packed with emotion, I cried! TWICE! Never has Bj made me cry 😆
From the off Azrael drew me in. His life and position in his family is heartwrenching, with the decisions he has to make. Poor unsuspecting Haven, finds herself in a situation, where she has to choose between becoming Azrael's Toy or somewhere much worse .. neither resulting in freedom. despite his cruel, emotionless, dominating exterior Haven sees the man he is inside, the man he could be. But love in the Mafia world is not sweet and tender, it's weakness and with so much at stake, Azrael cannot afford to show any weakness least of all to his father.
The plot is gripping, the spice is off the charts, the chemistry between Azrael and Haven is profound, but the emotions are raw. Their story will puncture your heart and piece you back together by the end. Despite me not having read 'Stone' - YET, because i will so be picking that up as soon as i get the chance .. its not vital to this story. Bj has soared through with new determination to ruin us emotionally and boy did she succeed.
What an explosive start to her 2026 releases. Consider me sat like a Good girl for 'Czar' and 'Untouched'.
This series is phenomenal, and Stone (the first) was heartstopping and equally, this was amazing. **It is extremely dark and twisted so please read your trigger warnings going in.**
Azrael is the heir to the Carrera Family, and like his name, he has been bought up in a world of pain, darkness and abuse at the hands of his sadistic father. But inside this darkness is a light, a light his beloved Nonna saw in him, even when the unthinkable happened. He might be alot of things, but he believes in consent from the whores/women in general, and does not agree with the human trafficking and the abuse he sees is father and his father right hand man dish out. When it's his time, he wants to change that. What he keeps hidden from his father is who he truly is.
Hevan is thrust into the darkness where she meets Azrael amongst other women, and he sees her, and she him, and she's that light. Escaping the auction she is taken to his mansion where she becomes his 'Little Toy' and holy hell, Azrael is everything you could want in a dark, alpha arsehole which glimmers sporadically only for her. He is not meant to fall in love, he has to protect her. There are so many moments that transpire that for the last 35% I could NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN.
I can't even articulate, apart from the fact I am twisted up in this book, and loved it so much, that this was amazing and I loved it. Of course younger brother Czar is next, and like the excitement for Azrael was real, I am equally for Czar. Loved this.
AZRAEL by BJ Alpha is not only a book you read, it’s one you endure, one you surrender to, one that leaves bruises long after the final page. From the opening chapter this story drags you into the brutal underworld of the mafia and seals the door behind you. Azrael Carrera is darkness incarnate—possessive, lethal and born to rule through fear. Desire is his weapon. Women are indulgences. Until Hevan. Fragile only on the surface, Hevan carries an unbreakable inner strength, fierce loyalty and an innocence untouched by his violent world. She doesn’t soften Azrael—she awakens something feral and human he never knew existed. In a world designed to destroy her, she becomes his anchor, his light. What unfolds is raw, forbidden and achingly intimate. A slow-burn collision of obsession, power and sacrifice that cuts soul-deep. The chemistry is intense. The violence is unforgiving. The angst is relentless. Love here is not gentle—it is earned in blood and pain. Azrael is a magnetic, dominant anti-hero who grips you by the throat and refuses to let go. And just when you think you’ve survived it—the ending strikes! Cold. Ruthless. Unforgettable. It doesn’t simply close Azrael’s story, it ignites the fire for Czar, shifting power and redrawing lines in a way that leaves you breathless, shaken and aching for what comes next. BJ Alpha delivers this story with jaw dropping precision—masterfully balancing brutality and vulnerability, dominance and devotion.
I’m literally left speechless. I have no words right now. I don’t want to give any spoilers away, so all I can say is Azrael blew me away. To say this was good, or great, or a must read, would be an understatement. From the very first page until the very last I was hooked & the roller coaster of emotions I felt were a wild ride. There were times I was sad & my heart broke into pieces for Azrael & what he had to do. Other times I was holding my breath & hoping he wasn’t about to do what I was thinking. Then there were moments I felt the tears in my eyes for what Hevan went through. As much as I hated Azrael’s decision to do what he did towards the end to protect her, I understood it, but I wanted to cry for Hevan. And damn did I seriously hate Azrael’s dad & Vector. They both should’ve gotten the cattle prod. Becky keeps on surprising me w/every book she writes. Just when I think I couldn’t love a book any more, she throws another story & couple out & leaves me speechless & craving more. I loved Hevan so much & I wanted to high five her when she didn’t take Azrael’s crap. She gave him sass & fire & surprised him w/how she stood up to him. She wasn’t weak, quiet, or docile. She was a queen… his perfect queen. I NEED Czar’s story like yesterday! I’m dying to know if he was forced to marry Larissa- even though I know if he was it won’t be permanent. I just need his book! And it can’t come soon enough.
I have not read Stone's book (Book 1 in the Carrera Family series) and I don't think it really mattered. There was plenty of information in Azrael for me to not be lost at all.
I devoured this book. I connected with Azrael and Hevan right from the start. I was invested in their story and was on tenterhooks wondering how it would all play out.
There was so much emotion in this book. Right from the first chapter, Azrael broke my heart. I could feel how much he wanted a different life and how much regret he had for the devil he had become.
I loved Nonna, Czar and Jensen.
This book had so many moments that captured my attention. The love between Azrael and Hevan was soul deep and this little part of the book really shows that:
"You." Her soft lips touch mine, then she pulls back. "Azrael Carrera". Kiss. "Are completely loveable". ... "This isn't love, Hevan," ... "You're right, this is destiny."
An amazing story with characters that just attach themselves to your heart. My heart was definitely put through the wringer for this book but I wouldn't want it any other way.
Please note, there are some confronting scenes in this book, so if there are any triggers around dark romance books that may apply, read the trigger warnings on B.J Alpha's website. I went into this book completely blind of trigger warnings, and I was not disappointed.
I have been dyyyying for Azrael's book ever since he showed up in Stone, and BJ did 👏🏻 not 👏🏻 disappoint. 👏🏻
Azrael is everything you'd expect him to be after being raised by human trash like Benito Carerra: cold, violent, dangerous, manipulative, dominant, & volatile. He thinks he's unlovable and unredeemable and finds sexual company in the form of multiple willing submissive women (at once) at his family's club.
At that same club, he has an encounter with Hevan, a very innocent future kindergarten teacher who (she believes) mistakenly wound up at a human auction and was then transferred to the club. He saves her from some violent bodyguards and takes her to his home.
From there, Hevan slowly cracks through Azrael's shell and reminds him of his Nonna and who he was before his dad sunk his fingers into him. 🥹 While at the same time, Benito makes an attack on Hevan which will force Azrael to decide if Hevan is worth starting a war to destroy his father.
The story was SO MUCH more emotional than I was anticipating. I was honestly expecting lots of spice and lots of action (there is all of that, too!) but there were a few different spots that I honest to god cried. 🥺 They go through so much to get their HEA - especially the last 5% or so, my jaw literally dropped. I couldn't have predicted the ending if I tried.
Next up is Azrael's brother Czar - I'm so excited for his book after all the little breadcrumbs that were left 🫶🏻
I DONT even know how to start this. I didn’t too much know much about Azrael. I But OMG. But BJ Alpha is something else. Azrael made it to my top 5 mmc ever.
Two chapters in and I knew this book was something else. This book broke me put me back together in a way few books have. I have a really hard time showing or feeling many emotions and yet. This book made me cry. Devastating tears, sad tears, happy tears. ALL THE FREAKING TEARS.
“Our worlds collide but I’ve never felt more free”
Azreal and Hevan. Light and dark. Devil and Angel. Their love story is so devastating beautiful. He did so much so they could be together. There’s so many quotes I wanted to add but that would take the whole review. The way Azrael speaks about Hevan. SWOON. And the spice YALL. My god it had me fanning myself.
Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
The spice scenes are extremely hot and very intense so I would check the triggers -🍞ing kink -🩸play -bdsm -cnc -spit and C💦M play -Degradation/Praise
This is definitely one of BJ Alpha’s spiciest reads. If you’ve never read any BJ Alpha’s books, read this one. It is the perfect example of why BJ Alpha is one of the best authors is the dark romance category
If you have read her books this is and instant buy or download. Azrael is an amazing addition to BJ Alpha universe.
This was wild but then again every book of Becky's takes you on a wild ride! Check your TW!!
Azreal.. ugh this man makes you feel things and makes you feel for him.. he might have been named after the angle of death but Azreal has a heart so full and pure. His father might have thought him weak for having a soft heart but it made him strong, strong enough to forgo everything he wanted. Strong enough to do what needed to be done. He might have been a dark angel to everyone but his little toy.. she made him feel again, reminded him of the light he has within
Hevan.. sweet, innocent Hevan was stolen from her life and gifted to the devil himself. Waking up and not knowing where she was or how she got there started the terrifying reality that Hevan found herself in. When she set her sight on the devil himself she couldn't help but feel attracted to him.. she just didn't know how her life would turn out in that moment.
I have read everything BJ Alpha has written and to say that Azrael’s story took me by surprise is an understatement. Though she is known to write dark mafia romance, this was something that shocked me, but in a very good way.
Born to be the heir and raised to have a black heart with no emotions, Azrael’s life takes a turn when he crosses paths with Hevan. Seen as a gift from his nonna, she becomes his light that he never thought he would ever see or find. Named after the angel of death, Azrael’s path in life with either be your salvation or your demise. But what will his choices be when he has to decide between La Familia or Hevan?
Hevan ends up in an underground world where women are never seen or heard from again, unless their “owner” wants them to be. When she is thrown into a room with the dark son who treats women the best, she has no idea what she is coming up against. Determined to escape her captor who saved her, Hevan finds herself falling in love with the one man she never should have crossed paths with.
Book two of the Carrera Family will take you to a dark side which you may or may not come out from in one piece. This is a top read of mine from BJ and cannot wait to see what she comes out with next with the Carrera Family.
I received this book as an ARC and willingly giving my review.
ARC Review: 4.5 ⭐️ Azrael is book 2 in the Carrera family series featuring Azrael Carrera & Hevan.
Hevan wakes up to find herself in a room with many other women wearing only a shirt and having no memory of how she got there. She talks to one of the other women with her and she finds out where she is and what will happen next.
Azrael is the eldest son of a mafia family and often enjoys the company of some of the women they employ. The women are paraded in for his choosing and he takes a social interest in Hevan. After the evening concludes he ends up saving Hevan and taking her back to his house.
Azrael doesn’t agree with a lot of the things his father does, but he has to bid his time in order to figure out how to stop it. He has never wanted more from a women but after meeting Hevan, his resolve starts to crumble.
When things between them start to get serious and his father starts sniffing around, Azrael must do whatever he can to protect Hevan from his father and his goons. Will he be able to keep her safe from the monsters or will things take a huge turn?
This book was unexpected in the best way possible. I love a mafia man written by BJ and Azrael was no different. He becomes so protective of Hevan and would move heaven and earth to keep her safe! This book had some serious spice and im already looking forward to the next book in this series
Azrael is the epitome of roller coaster of emotions, it was pure perfection! I had moments where I wanted to throw my kindle away and others where I wanted to hug it while I cried!
I devoured Azrael’s story and you will too!
Azrael Carrera is the son of a Mafia Don that has been raised to be cruel, heartless, powerful and with no emotions. Although there is some light in him, he actively decided to go to the dark side and do as was expected of him, which are all the terrible things out there! Although he looks just like his dad, he is different in so many ways, the most important being, he likes his woman to willingly give themselves to him.
Haven ends up at their trafficking house and is handpicked by the devil himself, Azrael. She thinks he’s saved her from her fate, but did he really?
I honestly came went in with an open mind thinking there had to be more to Azrael than met the eye and boy was I surprised. My heart was instantly shattered, I cried, I got angry, I got happy and I cried again. This book kept me with my heart racing as I read it but it was a very enjoyable experience. Needless to say, I’m ready for Czar’s story. ❤️
As always BJ Alpha’s books are a guarantee to pull any one of a reading slump, so if you are after an intense read this is the book for you!
I finished this book but I have to say that this book finished me! I have to take a breather after reading this book cause I'm a bit emotional from the roller coaster of this book. BJ Alpha, what have you done to me. I love this book with all my heart.
I am addicted to BJ Alpha's book but this book took the number one spot for me. I connected to Azrael and Hevan from the first chapter. Even from the Prologue I was emotional. Azrael backstory really broke my heart. I really feel for Azrael. He is the way he is because of his stupid father. Oh I was so mad and surprise how evil his father was.
I love how possessive and obsessive Azrael was toward Hevan its diabolical. And Hevan was such a sweetheart. Azrael was only soft for Hevan and Hevan was so used to his temper which I find so cute! I really love them together. Oh and the spicy scene? Come on, BJ Alpha delivered those scenes!
Please go read this book once its out, I can guarantee you that you will fall for Azrael as hard as I'm falling for him. And you will also adore Hevan as much as I adore her. The plot will destroy you but don't worry, you'll be put back together by the end of the book. Thank you BJ Alpha for trusting me to be the ARC reader for Azrael.
I ATE THIS UP. Read it in one sitting. DEVOURED IT.
I was crying right off the beginning. I laughed, and I kicked my feet. All the things.
Azrael is cold and ruthless. It's the way he was brought up. His life is darkness. Hevan is light and innocence a good. The two of them shouldn't work but the tension and passion is just perfect!!! The way Azrael will do anything to keep Hevan happy and proteced...
Azrael is used to people bowing down to him and obeying out of fear. He was not ready for the fire that Hevan brought! She takes no shit and stands up to him at every opportunity. She's sassy and strong in her own way and exactly what Azrael didn't know he wanted.
Czar and Jensen had me in giggles so many times! I love a book with great side characters and this was definitely it!!
This is one of my favorite books I've read in a while. It was my fourth book from BJ Alpha and I keep falling in love with her writing more and more.
If you like ruthless mmc's who soften only for her, firecracker fmc who keeps him on his toes, mafia family, enemies to lovers... this is definitely for you!
I really enjoy B.J. Alpha’s writing style—it’s direct, sharp, and straight to the point. Azrael felt more intense, more emotional, and heavier, deeper than her previous books. It had more depth and vulnerability from both characters, which made Azrael and Hevan’s story heartbreakingly beautiful. It felt different from her other work, and that’s what made it stand out.
The balance between plot and spice was perfect—neither overshadowed the other.
Azrael is a dark mafia romance that grabs you from the very first page and refuses to let go. BJ Alpha delivers a brooding, morally gray anti-hero in Azrael Carrera: ruthless, dangerous, and emotionally fractured, whose internal battle between darkness and redemption is as gripping as the high-stakes world he rules. The dual POV works beautifully, allowing readers to experience Azrael’s cold, brutal logic alongside Hevan’s vulnerability and quiet strength. Their connection is intense, complicated, and layered with tension, making every interaction feel charged with meaning.
What truly elevates this story is the emotional depth beneath the darkness. Hevan is not just a passive victim; she brings light, resilience, and humanity into Azrael’s world, forcing him to confront parts of himself he’s spent a lifetime burying. The push and pull between love and self-sacrifice, power and protection, is heartbreaking and addictive. With steamy tension, raw emotion, and a hero who is as broken as he is compelling, Azrael is a must-read for fans of dark mafia romance who crave flawed characters, emotional stakes, and a love that feels hard-won and unforgettable.
Im literally obsessed with this story it had my heart in the authors hand and i felt every ounce of my heart strings being pulled by the very end. I will support this author in any aspect that she writes. BJ Alpha said let’s start 2026 with a banger.
Two different people that come from two different sides of the world and you would never expect their life’s to be intertwined at all. Something about Hevan just keeps pulling on the strings that Azrael thought he never had anymore since he was a young child. Hevan is a sheltered individual that would be going to college to be a teacher but her world gets turned upside down when she is sold into the auction house. The cosmic energy after one encounter with her changes everything for him and the way he treats her throughout the story is completely different and unexpected for the man of his level in the mafia. The ENTIRE story will have you on the edge of your seat, each page turn will come with surprise. The ending had my heart wrenching for them both and the twist I didn’t expect had my mouth on the floor in shock. Do yourself a favor in 2026 and make BJ Alpha a must read author on your TBR list.
Azrael has been thought his entire life to be a monster, the devil of the underworld. He's the first born and the heir to it all. His father is cruel and believes women serve one purpose, to please men no matter what. Azrael has navigated his life trying to stay ahead of his father and not be completely like him.
Hevan a 20 year old college student with a normal life and a boyfriend. Then one night she wakes up in a basement with no clue how she got there. She's thrust into the dark world of the Mafia with a quick run down of how to survive by another woman who is there with her. The goal? Stay alive and don't get sent to the auction.
Hevan becomes the light in Azrael's life after he takes her and keeps her for himself. As the days turn into weeks, he begins to fall for her. She's not scared of him, she challenges him, and she falls in love with him.
This story isn't all sunshine and rainbows, but through the darkness, Hevan and Azrael find the light and they survive.
From the very first pages, Azrael’s story pulls you into a brutal, high-stakes world where love is dangerous and weakness is punished. His position within his family is shaped by a legacy that demands ruthlessness over humanity. Haven enters this world innocent and unprepared, forced into impossible choices where freedom is never truly an option.. Yet beneath Azrael’s cold, dominating exterior, she glimpses the man he might have been and that fragile connection becomes the emotional core of the story. Their bond is intense, raw and charged with chemistry, making every interaction feel both intoxicating and painful. The plot is gripping, the tension relentless and the romance fierce in its possessiveness and devotion. Azrael is unapologetically obsessive, Haven achingly sweet yet resilient and together they create a dynamic that feels both diabolical and tender. By the end, their story leaves you emotionally wrecked then carefully pieces you back together, proving that even in the darkest corners, a devil might still find his way toward the light. 🪽🖤🔥
BJAlpha tested my triggers like golden medalist and pro master player… THIS time angst and dark romance had a baby and Azrael is his name.
I’m still stunned after finishing it, like truly stunned. I love how this author give us passion and fire in her books - she knows how to use words , but this time it was something more I’ve expected. It was shocking and dark but I’m taking it all.
Azrael is not a hero who will play Prince Charming role - he is truly devil himself. He was shaped by cruel live so I loved to see him finding Hevan, who taught him how to use his heart. Their story is full of twists and heartbreak, at some point I truly wasn’t sure how to survive the sadness.
I devoured this book and I already can’t wait for more in this series. If You’re up for rollercoaster ride, tons of angst and passionate love, give Azrael a chance. JUST PLEASE, PLEASE read trigger warnings and treat them carefully- the story has very dark moments not for everyone.
