Use Dr. Bradley Nelson's bestselling Body Code techniques to remove the emotional walls around your heart
Honing in on the central concept of his runaway bestseller, The Emotion Code, Dr. Nelson presents an expanded, deeper look at Heart-Walls in his next book, The Heart Code. All of us, Dr. Nelson realized, have walls around our hearts—emotional barriers that prevent us from fulfilling our potential and finding our true purpose.
Based on the tens of thousands of stories that readers and patients shared with Dr. Nelson, The Heart Code offers an in-depth exploration into the mechanisms of Heart-Walls and practical guidance toward ultimately breaking down these barriers around our hearts. Listeners will gain the tools necessary to identify and release these emotional walls that prevent us from experiencing true fulfillment in every aspect of our physical, emotional, spiritual, financial, and romantic.
With a compassionate, empowering, and prescriptive approach, The Heart Code takes listeners on a journey of self-discovery and healing, helping unlock the full potential of your heart and live life with greater authenticity, joy, and abundance.
I received a free advanced digital copy of this book through NetGalley.
I want to preface this review by stating that I am a huge fan of Dr. Nelson’s work. I am certified in Emotion Code, Body Code, and Belief Code, and I have seen first-hand how amazing these healing systems can be. As such, it is with deep regret that I must give an honest and critical review of his latest book, The Heart Code.
The Heart Code refers to the part of the Emotion Code healing system that deals with the detection and removal of energy walls around the heart called heart-walls. Unfortunately, The Heart Code does not really update or expand upon the Emotion Code healing system.
(TLDR: The Heart Code is a watered-down version of The Emotion Code. The Emotion Code is a great book! Go read that instead for a better understanding of this healing system. Read on if you’re interested in a more detailed analysis of The Heart Code.)
To quote the introduction of The Heart Code, “The Emotion Code book, first published in 2007, explains this simple yet transformative process and includes everything you need to know to get started, including how to find and release the Heart-Wall.” “This book, The Heart Code, is dedicated to bringing the Heart-Wall to the forefront. While the Heart-Wall is a key part of the Emotion Code, we’ve felt inspired to give it the attention it deserves, calling greater awareness to this transformative discovery.” So, as you can see, the book admits right at the start that it is redundant to The Emotion Code book and has just presented the information with a somewhat different focus. This would perhaps not be so problematic if The Heart Code book was just as good at teaching The Emotion Code healing system as the first book was. Unfortunately, The Heart Code waters down the instruction of the Emotion Code a fair bit.
The first area where the two books differ greatly in instruction is in the teaching of muscle testing techniques which are needed for this healing system. The Heart Code teaches far fewer techniques for muscle testing than The Emotion Code book does, and this isn’t great for those that are completely new to muscle testing. There are numerous different ways that muscle testing can be performed, and different people find that different methods work best for them. If someone is completely new to muscle testing, they might think that the few methods The Heart Code teaches is all there is, and may become discouraged if none of these methods work well for them, especially since the book does not tell you that these are just a few of the many muscle testing techniques out there. If the book doesn’t let you know that more techniques exist, it may not even occur to someone to try to research this further. If someone were to make it all the way to the end of the book, they’d find a link to a free muscle testing course in the resources section. Since the section on muscle testing does not tell you that this information exists in the resources section, someone may not think to look there. I can’t make any comments on how good the free muscle testing course is as I haven’t taken it, but if The Heart Code actually taught muscle testing as well as The Emotion Code did, then this extra course might not be needed as much. In any case, there’s no guarantee that course will still be available in the future if someone reads this book 10 or 15 years from now.
The other area where The Heart Code is severely lacking in instruction is teaching you to do sessions on other people. It is less detailed than The Emotion Code on doing sessions on others in general, but it completely fails to teach you how to do surrogate and proxy sessions, which might be required for a number of different circumstances. The book does mention doing surrogate sessions if the person you are working on proves to be untestable with muscle testing, but they only very vaguely describe how to do it, which I find completely insufficient, and no instruction for proxy sessions are given whatsoever. It is my opinion that it is negligent and irresponsible to teach people to do these healing sessions on others without instructing them on how to perform surrogate and proxy sessions, and I believe it could have the potential to cause actual harm if someone doesn’t properly know what they’re doing. If they did not want to teach these aspects in The Heart Code, then I feel they should have limited instruction to self-healing sessions only. Perhaps of lesser importance, there is no instruction on how to do healing sessions on animals (despite there being an entire chapter dedicated to animal testimonials), which is included in The Emotion Code book. Of course, most animal sessions do require surrogate or proxy sessions which were not taught in this book, so it follows that they also could not teach you how to do sessions on animals.
For those already familiar with the Emotion Code, this book won’t teach you anything new about detecting and removing heart-walls other than to explain why Dr. Nelson no longer recommends checking for hidden heart-walls, and even this may not be new information depending on whether or not you were certified in Emotion Code, or how recently you were certified. If you’ve already read The Emotion Code, I would not recommend reading The Heart Code unless you really enjoy reading stories and testimonials, which make up quite a large percentage of this book. These can be very interesting to read, and even moving or inspiring, but of course they only reflect the best-case scenarios for this work, and can’t guarantee the same level of results for any given person or situation.
For those new to Dr. Nelson’s work, The Heart Code may be a somewhat less overwhelming introduction to his Emotion Code healing system, but I would still urge you to read his first book The Emotion Code instead, even if it is a bit outdated on the subject of hidden heart-walls. It will give you more comprehensive instructions on how to perform these healing sessions on yourself and others. If you read The Heart Code first, then I would caution you to only work on yourself and not do sessions on others until reading The Emotion Code. Again, I don’t feel The Heart Code provides enough instruction on doing these healing sessions on other people, and you will be much better prepared to do that sort of work by reading the first book.
Here are some additional thoughts I have on this book. While I understand that the title “The Heart Code” was probably the obvious choice as a title for this book, I find it very strange that they are suddenly referring to the part of the Emotion Code that deals with the heart-wall as the Heart Code when it’s been around for awhile and has never been called that before. Nothing has changed about how heart-wall sessions are performed, so it does feel rather like a marketing gimmick to suddenly start calling them Heart Code sessions. I will not be referring to heart-wall sessions as Heart Code sessions in my own healing work.
The Heart Code also talks about determining the material and thickness of the heart-wall. This just refers metaphorically to how your subconscious mind perceives your heart-wall. These concepts were considered to be outdated and unnecessary by the time I learned Emotion Code a couple of years ago, and it was not instructed to do this when I became certified, so I am unsure why they are included in this book. The book does acknowledge that they are unnecessary steps and completely optional, but I do wonder if mentioning it at all might create needless confusion for those new to this work. Though I suppose at the very least it helps people to understand why things like material and thickness are mentioned in quite a few of the testimonials. I was surprised to see that the practice of Ho’oponopono was included towards the end of the book. Ho’oponopono is a wonderful practice, and while it was a nice touch to include it in this book, it really does not make up for the book’s other shortcomings, especially since you can learn about it from many different sources on the internet.
In conclusion, it was with a heavy heart that I had to write this review. I will restate that I believe the healing systems that Dr. Nelson has created are amazing, and I am grateful for all that I learned from him and others at Discover Healing, but I don’t feel his latest book will best serve anyone brand new to Emotion Code, and could possibly do more harm than good with less complete instructions. For this reason, I’m only giving the book 2 stars. I probably would have rated it higher at 3 or 4 stars if it taught Emotion Code just as well as the first book did. In my opinion it would have been much better to put out an updated edition of The Emotion Code to reflect any changes in protocol than to rewrite the book with a different focus and less detailed instructions.
I read this on Net Galley because I am an Emotion Code, Body Code, and Belief Code Practitioner. This is a heart-warming book about releasing the Heart-Wall. There are a slew of testimonials from people who have had their heart wall released. I enjoyed the information about the importance of our heart and love that so many people will be able to understand the value of having their heart wall removed.
5 stars to the Emotion Code method for healing readers. 3 stars to the Heart Code for not providing anything new aside from inspiring stories.
If you haven't read these authors' other books, this one will lay out the basic steps of the Emotion Code, so it's worth reading in that case. If you have read the previous books, this one seems unnecessary. It spends a lot of time selling their certifications. It also mentions testing on animals and proxy testing while not demonstrating how to do these techniques.
The audiobook was well-produced and the narrators were clear and pleasant to listen to, but it could have been hours shorter. Similar to the Emotion Code, over half of the content was testimonials. These are easier to skip over if you have a physical copy.
Thanks to Macmillan Audio, NetGalley, and Bradley and Jean Nelson for this audio copy to honestly review. It’s now available.
This is a fascinating book with a unique healing method.
I love the opening gratitude statement they have scripted, which ignites a healing process. They provide research on how the heart stores emotional experiences at a cellular level, creating a debilitating ‘Heart-Wall’. There are interesting accounts in the book around this research, including how people can pass when triggered by deep emotional pain or loss, and how memories and emotions stored in these core cells can transfer to a donor recipient via a transplant. It's clearly milking the success of a previous well-received book. It literally states this right at the beginning. I haven't read that book though, so this wasn't a retread for me. It feels like a deepdive. The book has a lot to offer. There's some insightful and useful advice here. Maybe not groundbreaking but fine. Even if you're familiar with the authors older work, you might find some solid content here.
I received a free copy for review; all opinions are my own.
Astounding! The examples are very convincing and at the same time a combination of comforting and eerie. The heart code process is similar to the emotion code process but it goes a bit deeper. The numerous stories of success are beyond inspiring. All in all a fascinating book! I have such high hopes that this will truly help heal the world. This is a must read!
