Seven years ago, Celeste Kennedy had believed her fiance when he promised to love and take care of her forever. Instead, he had been cruel and deceitful, and Celeste refused to marry him--even if it meant disobeying her faher. Thrown out of her home, this hazel-eyed beauty found herself alone and penniless, with only her wits to rely on. Now, after years of struggle, an unexpected inheritance has left Celeste with a house, a fortune, a gold-mine, and the promise of a new beginning...
Dark, handsome, and successful Fox MacPhearson had come to Colorado to claim what was rightfully his. Nothing could prepare Fox for what awaited him: a gorgeous redhead who kindled a searing desire deep within him. Why was this alluring stranger in his home, and what dark secrets was she so desperately trying to hide from him? As Fox slowly gained her trust, Celeste could feel her resistance quickly slipping away and her passion growing dangerously stronger. But time was running out for Celeste whose dark past threatened to destroy her life--and shatter her heart...
No rating, DNF too early into the book. I actually didn't make it past the first chapter. But since there are no reviews written for this book on GR, I’ll leave this here as a heads up to others:
The prologue starts off by explaining that the FMC is a prostitute at the local saloon. One of her dearest friends is dying and he happens to be an old guy that was also a customer of hers (that she has of course slept with).
The first chapter then starts with the MMC arriving to town to claim the house his father (the old guy that just died) left him. The MMC and FMC meet and she starts comparing the (corny) wonderful, exciting feelings that she has interacting with the son vs. the feelings she had had with the dad.
Ew. I don't like my heroines to be prostitutes, let alone bed a father and then his son....
