I’m a successful entrepreneur who’s made a good life for himself. I’ve had a few intimate relationships, but none have lasted. Probably because I haven’t been able to be my authentic self. See, in my heart, I’m a pup. I want to curl into a wonderful Daddy‘s lap and be petted, stroked, and praised. I long for piles with other puppies where we play and I can make friends. But who’s going to accept a forty-five-year-old man into that puppy pile?
Arnav
I met Foster on Halloween, and I wanted him because he was good-looking and hot, despite being twenty years my senior. Now, when I spot him across a BDSM playroom, I’m struck by his forlorn look. I haven’t seen him here on puppy-play night before, but I’m not surprised when he tells me he wants to be a pup. I was born to be a Daddy. For Foster, I’m ready to dive into the world of sweet pups and handlers and see if I have what it takes to make Foster’s Christmas wish come true.
Foster is an age-gap interracial gay romance about a lonely pup, a younger Daddy, and the best Christmas imaginable.
A Daddy for Christmas 2 is a multi-author series. Holiday tales of lost boys in need of Daddy’s love and in some cases, a firm hand. Naughty or nice, it’s all in Santa’s hands now. So why not dive in and read each standalone and enjoy the holidays alongside our boys.
Gabbi lives in beautiful British Columbia where her fur baby chin-poo keeps her safe from the nasty neighborhood squirrels. Working for the government by day, she spends her early mornings writing contemporary, gay, sweet, and dark erotic BDSM romances. While she firmly believes in happy endings, she also believes in making her characters suffer before finding their true love. She also writes m/f romances as Gabbi Black.
A Daddy for Christmas: Foster by Gabbi Grey is part of the second season of the multi-author A Daddy for Christmas series. This story is about Arnav and Foster. Their story was sweet and I liked it.
Foster by Gabbi Grey is a tender, low-angst romance that’s part of the Daddy for Christmas series and also features characters from the Mission City series. While it weaves in elements from these universes, it works beautifully as a standalone, making it accessible for new readers while offering familiar touches for returning fans.
Foster is a mid-forties man recovering from a toxic past relationship that left scars on his confidence and trust. Deep down, he yearns to be a pup but worries that most handlers are looking for younger partners. His vulnerability makes him a deeply relatable character, and his journey of self-discovery is heartfelt. When he meets Arnav at a Halloween party, their chemistry sparks immediately. Foster’s uncharacteristic boldness is endearing, but true to form, his insecurities lead him to bolt before things can progress.
Arnav is the perfect counterbalance to Foster’s hesitant nature. Determined and patient, he’s everything Foster needs in a partner—even if it takes time for Foster to believe it. Arnav’s approach to winning over this skittish pup focuses on building trust and fostering open communication, which creates a solid foundation for their developing relationship. Their connection is less about traditional pup/handler dynamics and more about emotional healing, respect, and understanding, making their story all the more impactful.
One element of tension arises when Arnav keeps a secret from Foster about where he lives. Given Arnav’s emphasis on communication and trust, this felt like a misstep in his otherwise thoughtful approach, but Foster’s reaction to the revelation was satisfying and showed his growth.
The story unfolds over a couple of months with a smooth, steady pace that allows the relationship to develop naturally. Told from alternating perspectives, it gives readers a glimpse into both characters’ thoughts and emotions. While there were moments where the perspective shifts weren’t immediately clear, it didn’t detract significantly from the reading experience.
Ultimately, Foster is a sweet, heartwarming story about second chances, healing from past wounds, and finding love in unexpected places. Gabbi Grey has crafted a romance that balances vulnerability and hope, making it a perfect read for those who enjoy character-driven, emotionally resonant stories. Fans of the series and new readers alike will find plenty to love in this charming holiday romance.
This book is connected to Gabbi's Mission City series but can be read as a standalone. To know who the mentioned side characters are it's better to read the others too. But like I said it's not necessary.
Being back in Mission City is great, I like it there. And our new MCs fit right in there. I absolutely loved to see them finding friends and making connections with already known characters.
Foster and Arnav are two very different people but they work well together. I'd even go so far and say they are just right for each other. Arnav is understanding, accepting, patient and gentle. He tries to lift Foster up and to help him with his insecurities.
Foster is this insecure, mid-forties construction foreman and just like Simeon from Sleigh Bells and Second Chances he doesn't know his own worth. But that's no wonder since he lived a decade in an 'abusive' relationship with a man who put him down again and again.
So I was very happy that Arnav was so different. He simply accepted Foster the way he was, never saying something mean, not caring that Foster was older or 'just a simple construction foreman'. To the contrary he tried to lift Foster up, told him he didn't want to hear him putting himself down, even mentioning that Foster could perhaps profit from a therapist. Not because he thought he needed fixing, more because he wanted the absolute best for Foster. My heart was melting a bit and I was definitely rooting for those two.
Like with most stories by Gabbi we get here interwoven storylines, great and well fleshed out characters, low angst and a solid HEA.
Really, I liked the book. The MCs were well developed and likeable. The writing style solid and the pacing fitting. I was well entertained and wanted to know what happened next.
The only thing that surprised me a bit was the fact that I expected more of a kinky lifestyle in the book since the premise is Daddy with a pup...but we get more of a kink light story with only smaller mentions of some Daddy/pup interactions.
This book is more about finding the right person, learning to trust them and falling in love and I'm totally ok with that. It's just that I expected different.
I can’t get enough of this series! It’s quickly become one of my comfort reads.
All the characters in this universe are so inspiring and beautiful. Each has dealt with some tough challenges in their lives yet have found a way to move forward and become the best version of themselves.
Arnav and Foster are just two of the amazing characters in Gabbi’s world that have completely captured my heart. I loved the fact that one, they’re an interracial couple and two, that they came from completely different backgrounds.
Arnav came from a very large, loving family who despite always giving him crap, loved and supported him in everything.
Foster came from a broken home with a neglectful mother and spent time in foster care. He didn’t really know what it meant to be loved by anyone, which is why he found it hard to accept when he met Arnav.
Foster never saw himself as worthy thanks to previous relationships. And for Arnav to show him interest, wasn’t exactly registering for him. He couldn’t believe that a man like him could be with someone like Arnav.
I loved Arnav’s patience with Foster. He knew it would take time for him to stop putting himself down. He knew it was only a matter of time before Foster saw himself the way Arnav saw him. So he would remind him every day of how much he was loved.
Being Foster’s daddy was Arnav’s greatest joy. He loved taking care of his pup and giving him all the cuddles and petting Foster wanted. He never made him feel less for what liked, on the contrary; he encouraged him to always be himself.
I just love this series. I hope Gabbi keeps bringing us more stories from this wonderful universe because I can’t get enough of them.
It goes without saying how much I loved Michael Dean narrating this book! I’ll happily listen to anything that man reads🥰

Story = 4.5 stars Narrator = 5 stars
This was a great fast paced, no angst, low steam, very sweet story. Im only leaving off half a star because their issues lingered til the end and then wrapped up really quick at the end and I wanted to see a bit more relationship development. Also, if you are going to write a PP book, at least have more than a couple tiny mentions of it. I really wanted to see more of that involved too on page.
Other than that, it was really well written. The plot kept me interested from start to finish. I listened to this in one listen. It was the perfect length. It didn't feel rushed nor draggy even though I wished for more. I love this world that the author created. It was nice to see past characters. It is easily read as a standalone though. I also love the inclusion of the healing ranch counselors that are common in Gabbis books.
I absolutely loved both of the MCs. They had amazing chemistry. I enjoyed their growing bond while watching 90s rom-coms. Was happy to see one of my lesser known favorites mentioned. I loved that the daddy was younger which is rare to find in books. I also loved Arnavs very big and very close family that instantly took Foster in.
MD did a phenomenal job narrating as always. I love his voice. He kept a good pace/flow. He expressed all the emotions wonderfully and brought the story to life. He gave all the characters including the side characters their own distinct voice that suited them all perfectly. It was a pleasure to listen to.
FOSTER is part of the Daddy for Christmas series and also takes place and features characters from the Mission City series. You don't have to read any of the previous books as it stands alone.
Foster has been in a previous relationship that was toxic in every way. So now he's mid-forties and single. He wants to be a pup but is sure that most handlers will be looking for a young one. BUT then he meets Arnav at a Halloween party and behaves in a manner unusual for him. His boldness only takes him so far and he ends up bolting. When they meet again, Arnav will do whatever it takes to claim this skittish pup and make him his own.
There wasn't actually much about him being a pup or Arnav being his Daddy, in my opinion. This is not a complaint, I'm just saying. It was more about how Arnav gained Foster's trust and how their relationship changed and moved forward. I found it hard to believe that Arnav would keep a secret from Foster about where he lives, being as he was so hot on Foster communicating and trusting him. I was glad of Foster's reaction!
This low-angst story takes place over a couple of months and is smoothly paced. Told from both Foster and Arnav's perspectives, there were a couple of times when I had to return to the beginning of a chapter just to see who was speaking, but nothing major.
A nice weekend read, recommended by me. It's times like these I wish I did half-stars!

Foster is a successful entrepreneur who’s made a good life for himself. He's had a few intimate relationships, but none have lasted. Probably because he hasn't been able to be his authentic self. This was a sweet story of an older pup and a younger Daddy who rose up over their problems in life to build a relationship together. I loved how supportive Arnav was with Foster although I did think that he kept his own secrets for too long. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content and a BDSM-like Daddy/boy dynamic including puppy play.
I am usually not a fan of daddy/puppy stories, but I knew it Gabbi is writing it, it’s going to be amazing. I was right because this might be one of my favorites by her. It’s such an emotional story and I loved how the whole dynamic of the daddy/puppy play wasn’t the entirety of the book.
Foster and Arnav were so beautiful. From the moment they met at Quinton’s party and then Foster running off, I knew when they would see each other, it was going to be everything. I also loved it when Arnav immediately told Foster to not put himself down. That’s when I knew that Arnav was what Foster needed.
I loved that we got to learn more about Foster from his childhood to his past relationship. I just wanted to give him a hug from the life he’s endured. He truly met Arnav at the perfect time. He helped boost Foster’s confidence and just gave him the push that he needed. He also didn’t make Foster change who he was and that was the most powerful thing that he needed.
I love Arnav’s family so much and when they meet Foster, I was swooning because he deserves all the love that he deserves.
I really loved how we got a few funny moments as well. Sure, this book was definitely hurt/comfort but it also had some serious and entertaining moments though the book.
I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.
A Daddy For Christmas 2: Foster is a standalone contemporary MM romance by Gabbi Grey. The title of the book says it all - we know up front to expect plenty of kink, with Daddy/pup dynamics and a charming Christmas setting.
This is a super sweet romance and for me that is the type of BDSM/kinky stories that I can enjoy (I'm not into reading hardcore BDSM romances). It's set within the author's world of Mission City, a charming Canadian town.
Foster is the sub/pup, and he initially met Arnav, who is a Dom (with a particularly good reason to prefer not to be called master by his subs), at a Halloween party. They hit it off the first time, but it isn't until Christmas approaches that they meet each other again at the exclusive club they belong to. And this is where the sweetness in the story takes over.
Foster and Arnav take their time, allowing us get to know them as they get to know each other. I particularly enjoyed how this aspect of their relationship was written and development. It felt natural. The kink side of their relationship is a separate element of the story and I appreciated the very mature way in which the two men communicated their wants, needs and feelings.

Foster is Gabbi Grey's s contribution to the A Daddy For Christmas Season 2. It is set within the Mission City universe, but is a standalone. You don't have to read the entire series, but why not? Isn't that what TBR lists are for? Haven't read much Puppy Play (or any animal/handler play). And this is NOT the book for diving in, learning that lifestyle. Kink lite, with the focus being Foster and Arnav's relationship. Age gap and hurt/comfort tropes are used. Foster is in his mid forties, and he's quite sure no handler is going to want an older pup. He's lived in an abusive relationship for a decade and is skittish. Arnav is twenty years his junior. They meet at Halloween and play a bit, but don't meet again til December. And Arnav wants a puppy for Christmas. Foster's past and cultural issues add some angst to the story. But the City's community, character's from previous books, provide love and support. The relationship is slowly, solidly built. Foster and Arnav's chemistry is sweet yet sexy. It was a quick read. Maybe a tad too much angst to make it a lite Christmas read. I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my review.
Oh my, the life Foster went through was so rough. Still, he’s the sweetest but has a deeply scarred soul. Thank goodness Arnav picked up on the signs.
They first meet each other at a Halloween party. After giving Arnav a blowjob Foster ran. The second time they unexpectedly meet at a kink club. Arnav is a dominant and Foster is a submissive pup. Arnav is sixteen years younger than Foster. There’s more to know about both men, I’m not gonna spoil it, you’ll have to discover yourself.
Arnav still lives with his family, he has a part of the house for himself, but still. He’s reluctant to tell Foster about it.
It’s a very slow-paced story, with a slow burn process. There are a lot of heartfelt conversations. Enjoy the family fuss, important detail here to know, it’s a loving family! The hurt comfort was quite palpable, both guys are so good for each other The story was full of different content, maybe a bit too full. I would have already been happy with just Foster and Arnav.
For being a reverse age gap I didn’t find this to be terribly convincing. Foster never really feels like he’s actually in his 40’s even with the creaky knees, especially the left one & I found myself a jarred every time every time age was mentioned because he never talks as though he’s actually halfway through a normal lifespan so I found that weird. As for the author’s writing style it flowed well but unfortunately doesn’t intrigue me enough to read more by them. Now, Foster & Arnav definitely had hurdles to overcome but I did enjoy Foster’s firm agreement & then resolution to follow through on the therapy. I find it interesting that the characters who really interested me were those who worked at the ranch, Arnav’s sister Rashmi & most definitely Everett. Lastly, I will admit that my issues stated above could very well be that I am comparing two writers styles which isn’t actually fair though there was so much going on around the main characters that they didn’t jump off the page for me & I hate to use the word but forgettable is what keeps coming to mind unfortunately.
Foster is an older construction foreman, a Black gay man who’s mostly a loner. At a Halloween party he meets Arnav, a younger, ethnically East Indian, attorney. They share a brief interlude, but Foster flees when it appears they may be discovered. A month later, the two coincidentally show up at Club Kink for puppy night – Arnav with an intent to find a pup, while Foster yearns for a ‘handler’ for his pup side.
Those familiar with the Mission City stories will recognize a number of characters populating this story. That said, this story does stand alone, even with a teaser for another story.
The kink aspect is, again, mild. More significant is the age gap, some friction with class differences, and Foster’s past trauma. The couple manages to work through their differences, with help from others in their community. Grey pulls together all the necessary pieces for Arnav and Foster to get to their HEA.

A fun Christmas themed revisit to Mission City with construction foreman Foster meeting lawyer Arnav at a party, hooking up then fleeing, only to see each other in a kink club a month later. Foster is into pup play, and Arnav is a handler/Daddy, maybe they could work things out. But Foster comes with a lot of baggage from a former relationship, and trust is very hard for him. Luckily, Arnav is fine with going slow and building Foster up, hoping for a relationship with the shy older man. When a snowstorm strands them together, the attraction and feelings helps them move things along on the way to a well-deserved HEA. Lots of characters from other books in the series are encountered, the people from Healing Horses Ranch make an appearance and play a role in the developing relationship of Arnav and Foster, lots of family for Foster to meet and get a found family, and a snowstorm to help things along. Interesting, relatable characters finding love in the holiday season fits right in with the Mission City crowd and the engaging and entertaining ongoing series.

This book is part of the multi-author A Daddy for Christmas 2 series. Each book is a standalone read. This book takes us back to Mission City. It is the story of Arnav and Foster. Arnav is a lawyer and a daddy. He has a big, boisterous and loving family. Foster is a construction worker and wanna be pup. Due to being older than other pups at the club, Foster is not sure if he will fit in. Foster is also totally alone. He has no one but himself. The two meet briefly at a Halloween Party and Foster is overwhelmed and runs away. Arnav is intrigued by Foster and is delighted when he sees him at the club. The two formally meet but Foster is skittish. But when we learn Foster's history, it all makes perfect sense. This is their story. The book is written well and is easy to read. Arnav takes his time and slowly earns Fosters trust. I liked seeing their relationship grow. A true slow burn story, a holiday read to enjoy.

Part of the Daddies for Christmas 2 series, Foster focuses on the relationship between Arnav and Foster. Interracial, age gap, puppy play (lite) with a scosch of snowed in to boot, Foster features some of my favorite things. It’s actually more of a slow build relationship book (except for the first time they meet, but this book starts at their second meeting), with significantly less focus on the kink than I was expecting. But what we get instead is Foster overcoming some of his issues from an abusive relationship (historical) and two men figuring out how to give one another what they need. Arnav offers Foster family and security and the room for a safe relationship and Foster offers Arnav the space to be the handler and have the relationship he wants. During their first meeting (read:hook-up) Foster is “brave” but then he gets scared and runs away. He’s so focused on the running away that he misses that he was brave to begin with, and I think the book does a great job of highlighting the best parts of both of these characters.
Gabbi does it again, such a great easy to listen book.
This book is part of the Mission City series, whilst there are lots of references to other couples, this can easily be read as a stand-alone book. We meet Arnav and Foster, an age gap of 16 years and an older sub with a younger daddy. It has a small glimpse of puppy play, but of that’s what you want from this book, it's not here. It really is a small mention of.
What this book does have, is a loving easy to read/listen to book, that will put a smile on your face.
Well written and as normal, great characters.
Michael Ferraiuolo did an excellent job of narrating this book. As usual, I sped up the recording to 1.20 on Audible.

Review for Daddy for Christmas-2 Foster by Gabbi Grey
Another fantastic 5-star book by Gabbi Grey. I just love a good Daddy/boy/pup story, but add in the Christmas theme. I love a Daddy who knows when his boy needs a firm hand to keep his boy in line. I loved Foster & Arnav. I loved how this author wrote how much Foster was in need of a good Daddy to help/allow him to let his inner pup/boy out and to feel safe while doing it. I have started to read more books where the Daddy/Dom is younger than the boy/pup. I have found I love this. It's a nice change from the norm. Foster feels that no Daddy will want him due to his age. Oh, but Foster is so wrong. Arnav is drawn to Foster and wants to make Foster feel safe so he can be his true self. I live the BDSM lifestyle. I love it when an Author writes a story that is believable and fulfills my inner submissive. So, thank you, Gabbi Grey. I look forward to reading more of your books since this is just my second one.
Audiobook: A friend of mine was listening to this audio and she was loving it so much that I immediately wanted to listen to it as well. I have enjoyed books and audios by this author in the past and this one is a new fave. It is such a lovely, low-angst coming together of 2 very sweet men who belong together. Poor Foster has been so lonely for such a long time and he was used and dismissed by a former partner to boot. His desires and needs were not met previously on any level. Thank goodness he meets Anvar, who finds him everything wonderful and who yearns to care for Foster! They are a perfect match, each giving the other what he needs. Michael Dean was a fantastic narrator for this book! He made their voices and personalities distinct and performed well overall.

This is my first book of Gabby‘s, and I couldn’t be more delighted. The character development is delightful. I found myself not being able to set this book down because I simply wanted to know how things would fall unfold. She does an excellent job of weaving the diversity of her characters, and respect for their culture and racial lenses, into the narratives. The very mild kink in the book is done beautifully. At the end of the day, you’re simply rooting for these two characters to find their way together. Low angst. Chaotic family, fun found family side characters. Just a really sweet, delightful read.
4,5* I really enjoyed Foster and Arnav their story. The author, to me, did a good job in building but men thier background and how they became who they now are as adults. I always like a story where age is no factor, the mc's are 45 and 29, but who they are and what they need prevails. I love how caring Arnav is towards Foster and all his needs. Clearly Foster is just coming into his own with the help of his therapist, Anrav, their friends, and big family in law make him trust and dare more. In finding their hfn/ hea. I did also greatly enjoy meeting some of the 'Healing horses Ranch' characters once more.
This is an interracial mm romance with a light daddy/ pup dynamic interwoven. Triggers might apply (historically), so please check.

I love the tie-in to Mission City and the Gabbi Grey's characters from that world add an extra layer to this story. Arnav is confident and patient and Foster is just so sweet and genuine, making this an adorable but still steamy holiday story with some great twists and turns.
I truly love that the author doesn't pigeon-hole the characters, letting them have the dynamic they want, rather than what would typically be expected when you read age gap. I also love how Foster's pup persona is allowed to thrive and grow... although I would have loved to see a couple of puppy piles. I hope that this couple continues to be involved in future Mission City storylines so that we can get an epilogue to their story.
Beautiful story of overcoming an unsatisfactory past to discover acceptance, happiness, and love. Foster is an amazing and strong man. It is good to see him find the courage to go after his dreams and what he knows will make him happy, even at 45 years old. Although this is an age-gap romance, and the age difference is addressed, the author wrote it in such a way that it does not overpower the relationship between Foster and Arnav.
I enjoyed seeing Foster blossom and watching his connection with Arnav develop. These two are surrounded by wonderful friends and family. It was nice to meet Arnav’s big, crazy family and it was great to see some other familiar faces.
Foster and Arnav hook up at a party and Foster runs away. Later the construction foreman and the lawyer meet at a kink club with an older Foster wanting to be a Pup and Arnav wanting to be his handler. There's an age gap, pup play, interracial coupling with some domination thrown in. I felt a lot of things were introduced with not much emphasized or developed other than the constant age difference mentioned by Foster. As the pup play seemed so important to Foster, more time should have spent in his comfort zone as a pup. I received a copy of this book through Gay Romance Reviews and this is my voluntary opinion.

This was such a sweet, hot, spicy, romance story Foster is in his forty's he is quiet and emotional he is a forman on a building site and has is a beautiful older man but feels he is younger like a puppy. Arnav is a dominant Alpha male he is a Lawyer, they went out for dinner the next day, they had met each other at a party. Now they need to talk and find out are they compatible for each other. Foster being older he finds it hard to meet like minded people, so Arnav is getting some friends together and introducing them.

I loved this story... these characters are so earnest and sweet, you can't help but want the best for them. Foster has never truly had a family, and Arnav has a huge family who are always up in his business. I love when characters complement each other in many different ways, and draw strength from each other to become their best selves. In this age gap story, Arnav is the younger Daddy and Foster is the older pup.... and Christmas is the best time for desires that are both spoken and unspoken to be fulfilled. In the supportive and snowy oasis of Mission City where a network of friends, husbands and lovers endeavor to always raise each other up, the odd blizzard might lend a hand as well.
A Daddy for Christmas 2: Foster by Gabbi Grey is a heartwarming and unique holiday romance that explores themes of acceptance and finding your true self. Foster’s longing to embrace his pup side and Arnav’s willingness to step into the role of his Daddy create a tender, age-gap love story filled with trust and sweetness. The exploration of puppy play is handled with care and warmth, making their connection feel genuine and endearing. This book is a delightful mix of festive cheer and emotional depth—a perfect holiday read!.

This was a sweet Daddy/puppy story. Foster is a middle aged man who longs to be a puppy. He's never really had a chance to explore as he is really shy and not openly out. In a bold moment he hooks up with a man, Arnav, at a party, only to run away after. I liked how they met again a month later. Arnav is intrigued by the man that got away. He's really patient and sweet with Foster. And I loved how supportive he was of Foster's puppy side. There were a few heartbreaking moments as we learned more about Foster's past. Arnav's family was great, as were the other supporting characters. Now I need to go read the series they appear in.
This was a sweet, slow-burn romance with a splash of Puppy Kink. I thought the MCs fit very well together and adored this healthy relationship they were building and the other supporting characters that showed up. Somehow I felt like the pacing changed about halfway through to a shallower description of what was happening and I did not enjoy that. It lead to an ending that felt rushed and incomplete to me. I do hope other readers have a better experience reading this and get to enjoy Arnav's and Foster's chemistry to the fullest.
