I am so beyond excited to find this series. My little ones loved this graphic novel. What an outstanding way to introduce graphic novels and a new fun way to read to children. I loved everything about this story. The illustrations are bright and colorful, and don't forget adorable. They really bring this story to life for us. I can see why Jamie Smart is a bestselling author. She is an excellent storyteller and creates a fun and exciting story that kids, and adults, of all ages can really enjoy. The easy to read text was great for us to read this as a family so that both my 6-year-old and my 2 year-old could enjoy. It is packed with humor, adventure, discovery and friendship. A great way to introduce independent reading and to read chapter books together. A new family tradition of enjoying a new chapter each night together.
In this adventure Chaffy, who is always getting lost, and friend Max are out to explore to find the missing cupcake. We get to follow along as they follow clues and make new friends. We love the search and find pages.
You will love this story packed with friendship, fun and discovery.
Enjoy this adventure with your family.
A huge thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for allowing us to read this ebook. We can't wait to add it to our home library.

What an awesome book! First off the art style is so cute, the characters are simplistic in nature but man do they have personalities. Many a times emotions were shown with minimal lines or adjustments to facial expressions, brilliant! Next the artwork, absolutely stunning! The colors are bright and inviting, and make this a very visually appealing book. The search and find pages throughout made you stop and really focus on the artwork, which was one of our favorite parts, as what kid (and adult) doesn't love finally finding the item you are searching for!

The story is very straightforward, a cupcake has gone missing and our main characters Max and Chaffy are on the case. We travel with them throughout the island finding clues and reach a satisfying end, and there is a party! Perfect book for kids starting out with graphic novels, my 6 year old adored it, and my 9 year old read it on his own and had some laughs!

Overall great book, and highly looking forward to the next one!

This is a great read for kids who need something a little more difficult than an easy reader but not fully ready yet for chapters. I’m not sure I understand what Chaffee is. Maybe a little white bunny I’m not sure, but that doesn’t matter. In this book, they’re throwing a party for the police Captain who happens to be Chief Moose, but somebody comes and eats the birthday cupcake and it’s up to Max and Chaffy to figure out what happened. This looks adorable. Nothing else need to be said. young kids are going to like the mystery and the artwork and the happy feel of the story.

Honestly, these are so canny! The spreads are so lush. This is gonna be so perfect jn KS1 and for LKS2 readers. Max and Chaffy are so good at finding clues… especially when they’ve got some unexpected help! Plus cake. Cakes always good!

Cute book for kids, ideal for non/reluctant readers. Not as good/funny as Bunny vs Monkey by the same author, but still enjoyable and engaging and the colourful, interactive pages will keep younger readers entertained.

Back to book two to enjoy the great cupcake mystery! Once again, this was so adorable! I feel like Max has to pull her weight a bit more in looking for things though! Poor Chaffy gets lumped with all the hard work.

Pick it up, give it a go & enjoy!

The Max and Chaffy series is super cute and wholesome.
A great book for young readers who love comic-style books but need content that suits their age.
