This year's edition feels a little bleaker in tone to me (though not as much as some of the very dark editions edited by Marcy Sheiner back in the '90s). This is either because of hopeless scenarios (such as the one-sided desire portrayed in "Gwendolyn and Mario Go To Philadelphia") or endings that don't offer the expected pleasurable resolution ("Postcards From Paris"). Then again, there is an intriguing array of plotlines, and there are some more lighthearted and sensual pieces included (such as "Magic Tricks").
