Discusses the use of fear and innuendo during the Joe McCarthy era and wrongful arrests etc. Discusses the Republican Party push for loyalty commission in 1946 so as to gain in elections. Much of this took place under the Republican controlled 80th congress. In one case the gov't charged an individual with sedition but would not allow him to defend himself by proving the truth of what he said.
