I had the opportunity to read and make some of the recipes in Taste of Home's Down-Home Diabetic Cookbook that has less sugar, salt and fat but featuring full flavor and found this statement to be true.
We have diabetics in our family and want to watch carbohydrates, fat and calories but at the same time eat delicious food. Although this cookbook is not new it is a classic and I like that people from all over the United States and Canada have submitted recipes that they enjoy and want to share. There is a very nice Index and recipes ranging from snacks, salads, main courses and side dishes to breads, rolls, muffins, sweet treats and condiments. I made the Cornmeal Muffins, Bran Muffins, Best Bran Muffins which is a different muffin recipe from the first, Oatmeal Baked Chicken, Spicy Breaded Chicken, Spinach Chicken Enchiladas, and the Baked Chicken Breasts Supreme. All recipes were very good. We also enjoyed the Chicken Chile with Black Beans that is in the Soups and Chili Category. Under the sweet treat category I tried the Prune-Pecan Cookies and the Lemon Cheesecake which I both highly recommend. If you are looking for a very nice cookbook full of healthy good for you recipes submitted by people with their names and where they are from I am sure you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend that you buy, gift but most importantly read this cookbook and try something new. I'm glad I have this cookbook.

This has been my wife's go-to book for good recipes with great information. This book became the template for all other cookbooks we evaluated and either bought or rejected. As you probably know diabetics need to keep a close eye on their blood sugar and these recipes help them with knowing how much to serve. We are on our second book because we use it so much.
