There’s a monster under my mistletoe, and he knows I’ve been a naughty girl.
Silvery gray eyes… hair dark as night… the most wicked smile…
That’s what’s waiting for me when I get home late one snowy night, just days before Christmas.
The devil himself. Rafael Moretti. New York’s most feared mafia boss… and my long-lost first crush.
He’s the kind of gorgeous nightmare I’ve been trying to escape. Hell, it’s why I became an FBI agent. To erase my past. To forget him.
But as he glances up at the sinful mistletoe in my doorway, I’m powerless to resist.
The next morning, I’m slinking back into work, filled with shame, fear, and a confusing kind of satisfaction. Then, I’m handed my newest assignment.
Rafael Moretti.
Suddenly, it’s my job to bring the ruthless kingpin to his knees—even as part of me hopes he’ll force me back on mine, over and over again…

i wanted a christmas mafia romance damnit. what i got was hot shit condensed into 150 pages. i understand 150 pages isn’t a lot to work with, but this all just went too fast for me to feel like anything was genuine. good plot twist tho. yet again another miscommunication trope. shoot me. also, being able to squeeze a huge typo into 150 pages is impressive for all the wrong reasons
So… I wasn’t expecting this. I wanted to read something different, yet still a Christmas-themed book. So I decided to try a mafia dark romance set during Christmas — and that’s exactly what I did.
I was expecting a standalone novella… but that’s not quite what I got. This book is a novella, yes, but it actually serves as a prequel to another book by the authors, titled Devil’s Azalea. As a result, the story obviously doesn’t conclude within the novella itself, which was not at all what I was looking for.
That said, the plot was interesting, even if somewhat confusing at times. Overall, it was a good reading experience. I just didn’t enjoy realizing, at the very end, that the story was left open-ended.

“at that moment, i swear she could ask me to fetch her the sun, and i would’ve been halfway out the door to go grab it, even if it meant the whole world would be in perpetual darkness.”
oh my GOD i was not expecting that cliffhanger. i’m fully invested in this series now and i need to get my hands on the official first book as SOON as it comes out. this was a wild ride and my heart was beating so fast for the last 25ish% of the book. for a novella, this was crazy, spicy, and action packed in all the right ways.
This was my first read of Sasha's and wow.. I loved this, but hate that it is a prequel and the second/first full novel is not coming out for another month. I NEED ANSWERS. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS.
However, 10/10, I suggest reading this right now. It is short, a good novella with some Christmas spirit in there. Little spice, very hotttt. But it ends on a MF cliff hanger.
Emilia loses her father (who was a detective) while he was investigating a mafia leader (who happens to be her friend Rafael’s dad). She ends up joining the FBI because that’s what her dad wanted. She’s gone for 5 years and comes back to town only to fall in love with Rafael. He’s the perfect protective, morally grey MMC who is only soft for her. This sort of felt like a spicy crime show (criminal minds or law and order svu) vibes. I’m really excited to read the next book! Major twist at the end 👀
I hate reading mafia novels where the clearly american mafia dude is speaking broken Italian (and I can tell the author used google translate because I'm from Italy and the translations are inaccurate or don't fit the social context - e.g. he kept calling her piccola (which is a paternal nickname not a romantic one - my dad calls me piccola so it was already weird for me))
I read this first before Devil’s Lily and wow. Rafael comes to finally claim his woman, but just when it seems that everything is working out as planned. It all goes wrong.
Emiila joined the FBI to make a difference, but when she is handed her first assignment, the last thing she expected was to investigating Rafael. Worse, when he finds out about it.
There are some lies happening here, but heck, if I wasn't glued to my screen to see what happened. I need more of this couple.
Jeez this book…. What is the opposite of a Christmas miracle? This book didn’t have a single redeeming aspect. The smut wasn’t even that good. And the plot holes, my gawd the plot holes.
I very rarely DNF novellas/short stories. I just couldn't with this one. 21%, and it was hard to follow. I 100% hands down understand that novellas will have really quick story lines, and that's honestly what I love about them. But this one... in my opinion, gave me whiplash. The prologue is set 6 years prior. Which is fine, but the way they jumped into chapter one, I had zero idea what was going on (I understand that's the point) and there were so many teeny tiny details I had to memorize to make sure I understand later. I feel like they focus on things that don't really matter (inner dialogue) and not the relationships or plot. I'm assuming they did this to really hone in on the fact that she is neurodivergant. I feel like it's focusing on everything and nothing at the same time. I realize this is just a long rant that literally makes no sense. I guess what I'm trying to say is it was hard for me to follow. And that's saying a lot coming from me.
I enjoyed this book quite a bit! As another review said it’s like a criminal minds episode with spice. It is short, sweet, naughty, and to the point. The only thing that drove me crazy is it ends on a massive cliff hanger and I am not the type to read the next book in a series. I like taking breaks and starting other series or books in between so I am still hanging on the cliff.🤣 Otherwise it’s a good book if you’re looking for spice, mafia, and mystery.
Another day of getting scammed by Instagram reels 🤦🏻♀️
I knew it’s novella and a prequel to a series, but damn it’s BAD! Not because it’s short so there were a lot of holes in the story. Pretty sure it will be explained in the full book. No, the pages number is fine.
The story was also fine, could be better but not the worst thing I’ve read.
The characters however 💀 the MMC, Rafael, well he definitely could be better. But there’s only limited pages and even more limited story and POV of his, so it’s understandable that we wouldn’t know him much. But the FMC, Emilia, damn!!! She’s the one who made me feel scammed. She’s a FBI agent, but not a single line in that entire novella made me felt she’s an agent 🙄 she’s stupid, weak, gullible, annoying, self-righteous and everything else I hate in a FMC 💀
Would have DNF-ed if I wasn’t on the last leg of my yearly challenge lol. Honestly out of all of the issues with this book, and there are so many, the worst might be that he proposed with a rose-gold ring.

This was a fast-paced Christmas-time Novella to kick off the Nightshades series. The novella starts with the main characters in high school and then picks up 5 years later. There are twists and turns in the story that make you wonder who can be trusted. The spice was just the right amount for a short story. Normally, with a novella, it's all spice, but this one had a good amount while helping to build the characters. The first book of the series is called Devil’s Lily and will be released in January. I can’t wait.

Okay, first of all, don't take my opinion to heart. Read it if you want, and let yourself have the right to your own opinion! It's how books work!
Anyways. I wasn't sure what to think of this book. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. It was my first step into a "mafia dark romance" type of vibe. I did like the mafia aspect, I really enjoyed the twists and will read another book if she releases more about Rafael and Emilia.
However, I didn't particularly enjoy the spice.. only because it felt entirely too rushed. The "consensual non-con" did not do it for me. I was excited for it, having him show up in her apartment with a mask, and feeling her genuine fear.. but then he stopped the scene to clarify she had a safe word (which granted was nice to see), but it felt like it just soured the mood, like it ruined the heightened emotions she was feeling.
Idk, I enjoyed the small aspects we'd see from him about wanting to keep her safe. Because being exposed to her even once meant she was in danger, and marrying her meant keeping her safe. I got that part after he explained it. But before that it just felt weird.. like how did he still feel this obsessed 6 years later?
But, you can't always get all the answers with a novella. And while it had some plot holes and felt rushed in a way I wasn't all there for, like I said, I'd read a full book about them if she did put it out, just to get some answers.
Happy reading!

Okay soo this was supposed to be read before the Nightshades books— however I had already read Devil's Lily & was in the middle of Devil's Tulip when I found out about it while doing so poking around for spoilers & reviews. 😅 So I stopped where I was in Tulip, found this & started it. And whhheeewww... first off.. 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 I've been thinking about all the guys since meeting them in the first book & honestly Rafael wasn't one I was really looking towards reading about, but now? oh .. my... 😆 All of this little prequel happens before any of the Nightshades books but I could've finished Tulip & then just made sure to read it before Azalea & it still would have been fine, obviously the only thing is Michael & Maximo's stories hadn't happened yet which was just an easy overlook. Anyways this book was definitely hot & heavy & gave a little insight into their past & also gave a HUGE surprise into something that I hadn't known about that has yet to be mentioned in either of the first 2 books so that absolutely blew my mind 😆 I figure I'll get more info on that in Azalea.. Anyways it was a good read & well written & as of now my opinion is definitely read it before starting nightshades but also you could probably read nightshades without even having to read it at all.. but I'll keep that up in the air for now since I've yet to finish the series 😆
This is the prequel to the new Nightshades series featuring a fast-paced action-packed, steamy, holiday, mafia novella full of betrayal, danger, intrigue and suspense between Rafael and Emilia. Rafael and Emilia went to HS together Emilia even tutored Rafael but everything changes when her father is killed on the job and the main suspect is Rafael's father. Now it's 5yrs later and Rafael and Emilia meet each other again for the first time since tragedy struck. Things are completely different now Rafael is a mob boss and Emilia is an FBI agent which makes things very interesting. Especially when the one thing that hasn't changed is the chemistry between the two of them it's red HOT! I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this fast-paced action-packed, steamy, holiday, mafia novella that ends on a cliffhanger to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book and I'm looking forward to the next book to see where the story goes.

Emilia is trailing behind four insanely tall seniors when she hears them talking about her. Just like everyone else in this new school because she is not only the new girl at school but the 16-year-old genius.
Then to her surprise, one of the guys announces to the cafeteria that she is off-limits. Anyone who bothers her will answer to him. She is even more shocked when the principal tells her that he has set her up to tutor a student. The same one who came to her defense. The son of the mafia boss her father is trying to take down.
I loved this book. It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. It is the prequel to the Nightshades series and leaves you with a shocking cliffhanger giving the story a major twist.
I love Emilia and Rafael and though they don't get their HEA in this book I look forward to seeing how their story unfolds. If you like mafia romance with morally corrupt alpha men, you will find it here. This book is smoking hot and everything isn't as it appears. Highly recommend!
🎄WARNING: THIS IS NOT A CHRISTMAS NOVELLA🎄I was bamboozled, but gladly so lol
Rafael is darkly deviously delicious!! He is the perfect mafia romance MMC. I’m already OBSESSED with Rafael, Michael, Maximo, and Romero. I need more and I need it like yesterday.
I really want to like Emilia.. like so badly. But she’s falling just short for me. I love her being in the FBI, it adds a fun layer to this plot. But for her being clearly portrayed as some sort of genius, she’s a bit stupid(sorry Emilia girl😬). I definitely expected her to be more cunning and strategic, she left me a little disappointed.
They fit a lot of plot into this novella. I’m Looking forward to more backstory and seeing where the story goes from here! I hope this will be a full series and we get books for all of the guys.
Wicked Mistletoe is a fabulous dark mafia romance which I found to be quite suspenseful and most certainly a page-turner of a mafia romance. I absolutely enjoyed learning about Emilie and Rafael as well as witnessing their remarkable love come to fruition throughout this book. I thought the characters were well developed and amazingly executed throughout the book. I absolutely love that Emilia and Rafael have a happily ever after with them being happy with each other. Author Sasha Leone continues to prove to me what an amazing author she is with each book that I read. I’m HIGHLY looking forward to reading another phenomenal book from this author. I would most definitely recommend this book for anyone who is looking for an entertaining dark mafia romance to read.

Great prequel to start the series. Emilia and Rafael have known each other since high school and Emilia always had a crush on Rafael. When Emilia’s cop father is killed by Rafael’s father, Emilia leaves and returns 5 years later. A lot has happened in these 5 years, she has completely gone off the grid and is now charged with bring down Rafael and his group. Only old feelings return, and Emilia does not believe that Rafael is guilty of what her mentor and friend Stacey is telling her.
Lots of twists and turns, danger, lies, and secrets. Who can be trusted? Rafael feels like Emilia is holding back and not telling the truth, and when he and his brothers are almost killed, will this be the end of Emilia and Rafael? Ends on a cliffhanger and lies!

This was such a good read! The tendrils of background that you get as the story goes makes you instantly want to dig deeper. Add in first crush and it’s always been you into the mix with an over the top mmc? Even better.
Things aren’t always as they seem, and I believe there’s more to find out in the next book for Rafael and Emily. I feel like more strings are being pulled in the shadows and the newly graduated FBI agent is being used, and that feeling is biting at me.
I really hope things end ok for Rafael and Emily, they need to be endgame. My fingers are crossed so tight it’s not even funny. I will be reading the rest of the Nightshades series very soon and quickly because I HAVE TO KNOW!
Will their found family recover?
Highly recommend and Rafael doesn’t disappoint with the spice ladies.

This was a nice short read. It had the spice and the action. The pace was quick, but was giving. I believe since this is the beginning of a series, more development will happen. The miscommunication trope is so annoying, but doesn’t stop me from reading. There’s a lot of unanswered questions that I look forward to unraveling in the series.
It’s called Wicked Mistletoe, but this wasn’t giving me Christmas/holiday themed story. Yes time is set in winter, there’s holiday decorations in some scenes, and the St Nick mask. Overall, the mafia romance is still prominent.
This book was marketed as one thing to me on instagram and ended up being an entirely different thing. And frankly, I should have known better than to expect a book with less than 200 pages to actually include a well-written plot.
This story is what I expect a thirty-year-old someone to write when they’re asked to mimic thirteen-year-old wattpad writers. To be blunt: this was terrible to read. The writing style was horrible. The characters were two-dimensional and bland. The narrative and plot is generally trash because of the pacing and the lack of coherence in chronology (or when trying to build suspense and tension). Everything about this book was infuriating.
I would not recommend this to anyone and I’m so mad I got tricked by an Instagram video.
What an outstanding start to a new series. While a few have said this ends on a cliffie, to me it ended more of a sign of what to come. And Boy oh Boy does what’s to come sound awesome. This is a dark mafia read that kept this readed entranced. Ms. Leone and Ms. Ash are both new to me and I am extremely glad I found them, as I loved their writing style. The characters are well defined. It felt like I knew what made them tick, if you know what I mean. As for the storyline…. It flowed well. It kept me reading well into the night and I could wait to see what was going to happen next.
As for this reader, I can’t wait for book 1 of the series, as this prequel has me anxious for more.
