Ava Waking up in the hospital with a harrowing diagnosis is a hard pill to swallow. But it also opens my eyes to the truth. Law school was never my dream. It was my mother’s. I’ve been living like a bird locked in a cage, and the bars are closing in on me, crushing me under their weight. I’m done letting others dictate my life. The thing is…trying to cram a lifetime of experiences in a few months can lead you on a treacherous path. I let myself live. But at what cost? Looking back, it was all worth it because it led me to him.
Logan Reality is overrated. Especially when my fated mate’s wolf appears in my dreams, and shouldering my Alpha responsibilities becomes harder by the day. And you know what they say about fate… It’s not only fickle. It also loves irony. My life takes an unexpected turn when my eyes land on her. A human. She pollutes my mind. My dreams. My whole being. I know I should stay away from Ava. My pack would never accept a human. The question is, will I be able to resist temptation?
i do want to preface by saying that i know the star rating is low, but i feel like that doesn't always depict the right things about the book. like my star rating is purely based off of my singular opinion and enjoyment. this book might be for other people, and that's okay!! i did not dislike this book at all!
just to jump right in, i will say that if you enjoyed teen wolf when you were younger but you're an adult now.. i think you enjoy this book, at least a little bit. the vocabulary and dialogue is very like surface level and not advanced or complex. the interaction between characters felt very base-line, if that makes sense. even with the best friends of years, it felt like they just met and were making small talk. the storyline, plot, and idea of the book could have been really great! i loved the idea a lot, i think i struggle with these smaller books because i feel like all fantasy needs elaborate world building and more complexities.
that aside, the book wasn't bad! and let me tell you... the spice, she was spicingggg. if you're in the mood for a horny, one and done. read this book. i read it in like a day, definitely would recommend if you don't want to think too hard and want to read some good spice.
I honestly didn’t like this at all. The MCs weren’t technically speaking fated and I loathe that plot point. Also, I don’t know if the author was trying to make the book longer or what but I don’t like how one chapter was also the next chapter but from a different POV. It slowed the story and not in a good way.
The smut was fine but I was already annoyed about the other aspects so I mostly felt disconnected from the romance.
Overall, not a fan of this story or the way it was written.
Interesting concept and plot. I was definitely rooting for this one since everything that has vampires/ shifters is aplus points.
Unfortunately for this one, this was just straight-up smut. I mean, I don't mind a smut, but my problem is it kind of overshadowed the plot and other things in the story for me? Those parts just made me not enjoy this one.
I'll probably check the next book, and let's see if the things here will be expounded on that other book.
Saw this one recommended on booktok somewhere. The plot could’ve been a good story but the writing is sub-par and shallow and then they tried to cover it up with far too much smut.
DNF at 36%. Look, I’m all for fated mates, but this one? It’s only “fated” because she got a heart transplant from the guy’s actual dead mate. Yeah nah I’m good.

Ava has just received a life threatening diagnosis which leads her to start living life to the fullest and making questionable decisions.
Logan is our broody 6'9" alpha wolf shifter with the weight of his pack on his shoulders. He needs to find his fated mate or choose one to strengthen the pack before it's too late.
I absolutely loved this book. Think I read it in about 10 hours 😂 I love a shifter romance and this didn't disappoint. The story was fast paced and I enjoyed the plot. It had a great twist to the fated mate trope.
Loved the FMC, she's been through it but still had a great sense of humour, there was great banter. The book was a lot funnier than I expected.
There's a darkness to Ava and Logan that snuck up on me and I wasn't mad about it. Loved Logan's broody and possessive personality. The spicy scenes were 🥵
I think this is a very impressive debut novel and can't wait to read more from Lucia Skye 🤍
i was confused about why the average rating of this book is so low... now i kinda get it lol
first off i hate that she wasn’t originally his fated mate. it totally cheapened their connection imo.
one thing i hate in books is when the next chapter repeats a scene from the previous chapter but from a different pov. it happened more than once in this book and it drove me absolutely crazy!
throw in some classic miscommunication and you've got a recipe for frustration 😀🤚 every character had the emotional depth of a teaspoon. the smut was decent but the scenes were way too short.
it started off promising but by the end i was just glad it was over tbh 😬

SMUTTTT ALERTTTT!!!! 6'9" Wolf shifter, hand necklaces, fated mates, touch her & die, "bonding" ritual in order to save his wolf pack from an illness.
Hispanic FMC who lived her life pleasing her mother but then after surviving a heart transplant decided to live her own life. The MMC is a 6'9" alpha who needs to find his fated mate in order to save his pack. Their first encounter with each other was breathtaking. Everything after that was simply magical, true fantasy romance with lots of spice.
I feel in between with this one. Idk if it’s cause I feel like all fantasy book should be longer but I feel like I couldn’t properly get attached to the characters cause it felt rushed cause it was so short. Also thought it was more romance driven than plot driven which is fine but then I don’t understand how this is a prequel book besides just the ending? Loved the idea and the plot of the book but wish it was longer. I felt like if we were able to see more into Ava meeting the pack and getting to know them and have more development with the characters I would have enjoyed it more.
This had be on the edge of my seat, wondering what was going to happen next!! It was engaging and written! I loved how related Ava was, and who doesnt love a wolf shifter whos 6’9 & VERY Possessive 👀
This was lots of smut, but i also loved the plot!! It flowed well and kept me wanting more!!
The FMC is awoman who's 21 is dying from a bad heart. All her life she's been doing what her mother wanted but now decided to live life to the fullest which leaves to another heart attack. A nefarious "kabal" pays all her expenses and she gets a new heart. However there's something she doesn't realize. The MMC, is the alpha of a wolf pack and also a member of an organization that overseas "dark creatures." He's been dreaming of his fated mate for five years and despite an "sickness" that is weakening his pack he refuses to choose a mate before his 25th birthday which for some reason (we're never told why) he has to marry. Yada, yada, you can probably figure out the rest.
The book made me irrationally pissed. It started out great, I was really enjoying it until I wasn’t. At some point the characters started acting stupid beyond any reason, I wanted to yeet my ebook out of the window or yell at them for being such idiots.
This thing about fated mates, the way it’s written here, rubbed me the wrong way. So, basically, for Logan (H) it made no difference who was the person that’s fated for him, as long as this person has the heart that’s intended for him from the beginning. It just irked me for some reason. I mean the author never really commented on this, I would’ve liked if she told us that it was always meant for the originally intended mate to die so Ava (h) could have her heart because it was actually her who was meant for Logan in the first place, or I mean just SOMETHING so the “change” in mates was somehow justified… but Logan went like okay, I don’t care, she has thick thighs and a tight pussy for all I care. And I just… idk it somehow lessened the whole “sacred” meaning of fated mates for me😐
The timings of a few events felt wrong and it also took away from my enjoying of the book. So Ava makes a new friend, this friend dies a brutal death, but then she discovers she is a wolf shifter and has a fated mate and suddenly she’s all over Logan and forgets all about said friend. Then she finds out her mate was supposed to get engaged, but she doesn’t care to listen to him and his explanations, she acts out and runs into the sunset. Then Logan finds her, they make up and she goes to a rock concert???? Everybody grieves in a different way I get it, and maybe she was still in a state of denial but she sheds like a few tears over her friend’s death and that’s it? Then she gets kidnapped and rescued and then she’s like oh, right. The funeral. Let’s attend it. How much time passed between the death and the funeral? I wouldn’t be able to tell you. The author tells us she and her friend became pretty close in the limited amount of time they knew each other but I don’t believe it. She never really shows it. Where was the shock? The sadness? The grief? But yeah, she’s devastated when she finds out about Logan’s supposed engagement and acts like it’s the end of the world when it’s literally just a little misunderstanding. That could’ve been avoided if she just LISTENED to Logan. Ugh!!!! They both actually act like drama queens when it comes to their mating bond but show absolutely zero emotion when their friends freaking DIE. Where’s the trauma? I needed at least something…
And don’t get me started on the things that didn’t make sense in terms of the plot. The mystery surrounding her heart transplant was bugging me since the beginning, then in the epilogue we get a brief mention about the transplant but nothing solid, as if we’re supposed to know the context but we actually don’t? Like not really. Why didn’t we get a scene where Logan introduces Ava to his pack as their Luna? I’m new to Omegaverse but this thing seems important since she’s like the First Lady in the pack. Also, the scene where they defeat the enemy kind of fell flat? What in the Breaking Dawn final fight kinda shit was it? So anticlimactic. Those are just the things that stood out most. There were more in there I’m sure, I just didn’t care to notice them at this point. I was so done with the book before it even ended. I was literally writing this review with a few chapters still left to read.
So all in all, I kinda hated the book. It got me pissed like never before:)

I’m really not sure how I feel about this book. On one hand, I enjoyed it—the plot was decent, and it had potential. But on the other, I felt like we were missing so much. The way it jumped ahead—especially at the beginning and end—left it feeling disjointed.
I liked the multi-POV aspect, but the repetitiveness of scenes from both perspectives didn’t always work for me. I love getting both sides, but I feel like it could have been done differently—maybe by staying in certain moments longer to pull out more emotion, rather than just repeating events.
I get that fated mates are supposed to have this instant connection, but after Logan chained Ava up and held a gun to her head, I really would have liked to see more resistance and inner turmoil from both of them. A lot of trauma just didn’t get unpacked—it felt like some of the heaviest moments were swept under the rug. For example, when Ava was attacked in the bar, she went into shock afterward, which felt realistic—but after the cabin incident, it’s just… make-up sex and moving on? Then she’s kidnapped and tortured, and aside from a brief mention of her scars, she just moves straight to her happy ending. It felt rushed and unresolved.
Speaking of things we missed out on—where was the whole Luna moment? We don’t see Ava stepping into her role, no real scene of Emily seeing Ava as the Luna, no meeting between Logan’s mother and Ava—nothing. The ending wrap-up felt rushed, and I needed more detail.
That said, I did really enjoy the side characters—Emily, Tony, Malik, and Kaiden were my favorites. I’m actually intrigued by the next book being about Iris and Kaiden.
Ava and Logan did have some great moments—their first meeting was powerful, and leading up to the cabin scene, I had a feeling of where it was going… until she woke up in the basement, and from there, I had no idea what was coming next. I loved that unpredictability, but I still feel like some parts needed more development.
Now, let’s talk spice. Some of it? Great. Some of it? Way too much. I started skimming certain parts because some of the phrasing just gave me the ick. "Slick folds"—I feel like this phrase needs its own trigger warning. "Slit"? Absolutely not. And "puckered hole"? I need that erased from my brain immediately. But then we had lines like "eyes on me", and I’m sorry—yes sir, hooked.
Overall, I did enjoy this book—it was fast-paced enough to keep me intrigued, and I finished it quickly. I just wish certain scenes had been developed more, and that the rogue villain/witch plotline had more detail so we could piece it together as we went along. I love a good mystery and unraveling a story, but this one left me with too many unanswered questions.

If you’re looking to immerse yourself in a wonderful world of shifters and underworld beings, with fantastic political intrigue, with an epic slow burn, and lots of tension then this is for you!
Ava is a college student whose every move is controlled by her mother, but when she has a heart attack at only 21 and finds out her time is limited she decides to start living for herself. Dropping out of college her, and her best friend start making some questionable choices which leads Ava into trying drugs with a rockstar in his tour bus. After suffering from another heart attack she awakens to find that she received a heart transplant, only something feels off.
Logan is the Alpha of his pack, the responsibility of keeping his pact safe and healthy is daunting to him, especially with a rouge wolf on the loose. He’s been dreaming of his fated mate, with her honey blonde hair and blue eyes, and he’s determined to find her. Only a sickness is threatening the children in his pact and the only way to save them is marrying and taking a Luna before his 25th birthday, which is fast approaching.
Imagine Logan’s shock when he’s drawn to the new girl in town and she’s the exact opposite of the mate he’s been dreaming of the last 5 years.
Ava is immediately drawn to her new little town. Her whole life has changed, and she’s been experiencing some unusual changes after her heart transplant. Discovering her donor may be the answer to everything, and it may make her the target of the rogue wolf.
This book was absolutely incredible, it left me not wanting to put it down. I kept saying one more chapter and then that turned into just finishing the book because it was such a page turner!
Thank you to Lucia Skye for taking the time and effort to put together a PR package with this book for me, it truly was beautiful.
This story had a lot of potential, I loved the originality of the heart transplant to fated mates plot. Unfortunately, the execution was not what I had hoped for. I found the writing to be problematic at times, and there was a large focus on smut, which I felt took away from the romance and the fantasy elements. The MMC primarily had sexual thoughts and his behavior was not my favorite.
I did appreciate the latina FMC and spanish content that was in this book, it gave a different perspective. The concept is very cool, and I'm curious about the other characters in the story, however I am hesitant to read the next book in this series.
This book had such a strong start for me, the story was very promising and i was curious throughout the first 150 pages. Then it lost me… i felt like i needed more development on the story throughout the book. Felt like the ending was rushed, i wanted to see the fmc interact more with the wolfs and maybe learn more about his family. The big plot was mentioned in the first 100 pages but then it was set aside for the last maybe 10% of the book. The middle of it was just smut scenes and miscommunication.
Had lots of potential to be a book on its on! Didn’t feel like a prequel.
I will be reading book 1 just because i am interested in that plot and i was under the impression this one would be a backstory of the mmc and fmc from book 1 but come to find out its about different characters.
Fated Hearts is a prequel in the Echoes Of Darkness series.
I absolutely LOVED this book!
The cover is stunning and instantly grabed my attention and after reading the blurb I just had to buy it.
And honestly how could I resist a book with this dedication?:
"To you, May you find the courage to follow your heart.
Especially if it leads you straight into the arms of a 6'9" wolf shifter who likes to give hand necklaces."
I was instantly hooked after reading the first page. The story was fast paced with a very interesting plot and a refreshing twist to the fated mates trope.
The FMC, Ava, has been through a lot but she remained strong and had a great sense of humor. I love that the hardest and scariest time in her life helped her to finally LIVE and make her own decisions.
Logan was a very broody and possesive MMC and I loved how he tried to fight his attraction towards Ava. But this guy made me go through all kinds of emotions. I loved him, I hated him, I swooned for him and I wanted to punch him a few times.
"Everything disappears around me, my vision tunneling until all I can see is her. My wolf takes notice and growls loudly inside my head, "Mine!""
Their chemistry was explosive and the spice top notch. I was rooting for them since the moment they first met but they had to fight for their happy ending.
I can't wait to read A Wicked Dance Of Obsidian And Light! I really hope Dominic and Malik will also get their own stories!
This book was a fun read. A great introduction to the world of wolves, warlocks and magic in Ashville. A prequel to The Echos of Darkness series upcoming. A possessive Alpha, touch her and die, and I'd say found family.
This book had me feeling empowered for Ava and her transition into her new life after a heart transplant. Logan is the Alpha of his pack, searching for his Luna, his fated mate. He hears her call but doesn't recognise her to be Ava when she comes crashing into his life.
What ensues is a spicy yet plot driven story with teasers as to what is to come in book 1 of the series.
Get ready for a fantasy that has it all!! Wolf shifters, magic, danger, spiceeeeee, forbidden love, a possessive MMC, fated mates, dual POV, and more!!
Ava is such a badass and independent FMC. Both Ava and Logan are dynamic and well developed characters. I loved following their individual and combined journeys through the dual POVs. This book kept me intrigued and guessing the whole way through!
Words can not even express !! One the book cover is stunning !! fated mates is my and favorite trope and this fmc and Mac are beyond what my ideal fated mates should be. Touch her and die, yet Logan is a golden retriever under it all. Ava is a curvy girl and it wasn’t overly mentioned like some other curvy girl books do. She is a bad ass and taking life one day at a time . Really trying to not leave spoilers here. Bottom line go read it !!
I was fortunate enough to receive the ARC of this book! I really, really like this story between Logan and Ava. The story itself was unique. It kept me intrigued and wanting more the whole way thru! I had a hard time putting this fast-paced book down. If you love fantasy, romance, or paranormal, then you should give this story a chance.
* Spicy 🌶🌶🌶/5 * Fated Mates *Found Family *Wolf shifters but also some witches and demons *little bit of mystery *MMC with touch her and die tendencies *He/she is mine! *Magic
e-arc: first and foremost thank you so much Lucia for letting me arc read this most wonderful book! I’ve read werewolf shifter books and this was honestly so unique. i loved the whole concept of how Ava became a werewolf shift and how it brought two fated mates together. they were the true true definition of fated mates. i can’t wait for the next book because this was perfect.
What an introduction to Lucia Skye and the Echos of Darkness series 🖤💜🖤💜🖤💜 Logan is 🥵🥵 I don't read alot of werewolf romances but this was good 👏 hit all the marks for me ❤️❤️ I am immediately applying for the arc of the next book!
Usually, I don't read Wolf Stories, but this story kept my attention the entire time. I loved the Spanish references throughout the story and how the MMC tried hard not to fall.
4 ⭐️ | 2.5🌶️ If you need something spicy with wolf shifters I highly recommend you read this book! It’s packed with action that wills keep you on your toes and it’s such a quick read.
And if you’re new to shifter romance this is a good place to start!
