It's the first installment in the Fallen series, tracking Naomi's efforts to reconcile the two most handsome and dangerous men she has ever met - and save the soul of her city from the evil that threatens to engulf it.
When Naomi Powers' investigations into the supernatural events behind her city's decline land her in hot water, she's saved by Dylan, the handsome young alpha of the Silver Song pack whose bravery and searing intensity sets a fire smoldering at her core.
More than willing to satisfy his hunger for her luscious curves, Naomi is shocked to learn that Dylan may soon fight to the death with Kayden, his former packmate and now the dark and deadly alpha of the Vengeance pack. For neither of the alphas can defeat the darkness that is sweeping over Fort Brixton alone - and it is the way of the wolf that one must die so the other can unite the packs.
Determined to prevent bloodshed, she sets out to forge an impossible peace between these dangerously dominant alphas - by persuading them to come together over their irresistible desire to take her as their mate.
I swear, I'm going to start up a list of rules that govern werewolf romance stories.
I am. I'm going to start keeping track of these things.
Rule #1 - Werewolf babies solve everything. Rule #2 - Mating with two Alpha wolves always works out perfectly. Rule #2.5 - In cases where there are two Alpha males, one is always more human, the other is always more wolf. Rule #3 - Werewolves desire women with curves, because female werewolves are all lean and muscular. Rule #4 - Werewolves cannot breed with other werewolves. Rule #5 - It's rutting season.
This short gets bonus points for having a story besides "she has to mate with two hot werewolves". The sex is still very much the main point of the story, though.
It was interesting to see the feral pack becoming more wolf and less human the longer they stayed away from their home, slowly losing their ability to rationalize and think outside of their animal natures.
This is my first time reading this author and I am kind of torn in my reaction to this book. The story itself is basically good and the characters are okay, but there just could have been a little more to make them stand out. I did enjoy it though I had it figured out after the first chapter who was going to be doing what and so forth. Even so I wanted to read and see how it was accomplished and how the characters were developed.
Dylan and Kayden had both belonged to the Silver Song pack, Dylan was the Beta. When their Alpha is killed and their spirit totem destroyed Kayden splits off taking a large number of people with him and making himself Alpha of a pack he calls Vengeance. Dylan of course becomes Alpha of the Silver Song pack but it is weakened because of the defection of so many men.
Naomi is a reporter who is doing a story on the decline of the town in which she lives. Naomi has grown up with a spirit companion that no one believed in. Then she goes to interview a councilman named Stark who seems to know about her spirit and wants to kill both her and it. She is rescued by Dylan and is grateful and attracted to him. The problem is she has no idea of what or who she is dealing with.
The story is enjoyable enough with a bit of tension, some lukewarm sex scenes, and an interesting rivalry. It didn't really grab me but I am going to try another book and see if it can pull me in more.
I think this was a freebie on Amazon. I've noticed a whole bunch of drug dealer type freebies there. "The first one is free" to hook you as they almost all end in a damn cliffhanger.
This one is no different.
It's a novella and I fell asleep or put it down repeatedly.
Naomi is a reporter trying to interview a sleazy politician. Naomi has a little ball of light entity that follows her and only she can hear and see it. Sleazy politician is a werewolf and tries to kill her to take her "Spirit seed". Rescued by Dylan, one of the (good-guy) two alpha werewolves in the city.
Dylan can see her Spirit Seed buddy and thinks this means she is the future of his pack. However, the pack has split since their original Spirit Totem died. Dylan thinks Naomi's Spirit Seed will turn into a Spirit Totem if he mates with her.
Naomi accepts the information dump revelation about werewolf culture and Spirit Totems and wants to unite the packs by mating both Dylan and the estranged pack's alpha, Kayden.
She never does anything in this book with Dylan. However Naomi goes looking for and find Kayden. Semi boring sex scene...cue cliffhanger ending.
(falls asleep at keyboard before finishing review)
Not bad for what it is... a short serial. As far as serials go, this first part was promising, although I did find Naomi a bit on the annoying side. How could she possibly think that agreeing to mate with 2 alphas without consulting both of them would end well?
It was a promising start but I haven't decided yet if I will continue this serial and read the next part
Really liked this first part strong main charters. Naomi wasn't weak and girly when she was faced with danger and just got on with it and took charge... Both Dylan and Kayden are hot hot alpha males one dark and one light brilliant loved it all My only problem is to short.
Definitely interesting read. Storyline is fast paced and ends with a big cliffhanger but is promising. It didn't take me long to be engaged in the storyline and was left wanting more. Can't wait to read more to see what happens with Dylan, Naomi and Kayden.
