Fairytale Bureau #3

Belle's Quest

Rate this book
My life has taken a hairy twist.

I’ve studied the Grimm Effect and am prepared to be the one who finally breaks it. The others who came before me failed, but I have an advantage they didn’t. I escaped my unhappily-ever-after.

The one thing I don’t have? Jet-setting money. Good thing a prince I saved while working at the Fairytale Bureau has deep pockets. He’s offered to help me end the jinxing once and for all.

What I didn’t count on was the curse fighting back.

In an annoying twist, I am now the beast. From dusk ‘til dawn, I’m a hairy monster, and do you know what tames me when I’m tempted to eat annoying people? A certain sarcastic prince.

However, I don’t have time for romance because I’m on a quest to save myself, and the world. A quest being thwarted at every turn by the evil magic that keeps spreading.

Will I find the answer before everyone in the world is merely a character in a story?

Admit defeat and take up residence in a dreary castle where I can roar at trespassers?

Or should I take a page from a book and give true love a try?

~ New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author

Hello, my name is Eve Langlais and I am an International Bestselling author who loves to write hot romance, usually with werewolves, cyborgs or aliens .

I should warn you, I have a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor something I like to let loose in my writing. While well known for my shifter stories, I am also extremely partial to aliens, the kind who like to abduct humans and then drive them insane...with pleasure. Or do you like something a little darker, more serious? Then check out my cyborgs whose battle with humanity have captivated readers worldwide.

I was in two minds on giving a rating closer to 4 than 3. Even though it was a cute read and had some funny moments and good main characters. It lacked something... maybe it's better to binge read the series, but in the end, the characters I didn't quite remember made themselves known on their own merits. By the time I did get to know them, the book was coming to an end.

It's told from two POVs and is action-packed, full of twists.

It just felt like the bad guy (although clever) twist was supposed to be a smooth suprise, but instead, for me, it jarred a bit. The bad guy just didn't add to it, but he was kind of annoyed and jarred for me...

Belles, and the prince...well, I liked them as a cute dynamic and their growing relationship. It was cute and feel good. And a little play was spicy, but the spice was just okay in smut detail.

The ending of the book was cute and nice, too.

I did enjoy listening to the audio book for all three in the series.
The story starts out slow for me just because it does go into parts of what happened in book 2 of the series Cinder’s Trial. Both main characters meet in the second book so it goes over how they meet. How they are married which happens at the end of the second book.
Even though it’s a standalone for the romance between Belle and the Prince. You do need to read the first two books to help understand the underlying antagonist in the series. It does cross all three books. The journey they go through with the help of two other characters The Knights( their fairytale is Hansel and Gretel) who you meet in the first and second book in series. I have enjoyed all the characters that even though they do kinda end where the author could do more with the series. I have enjoyed the twist of how the author writes a different perspective of the fairytales of Beauty and the Beast. Where Belle is the one who turns into the beast after she kisses the Prince. From the second book the Prince is the Prince for Cinderella Fairytale.

There is a steamy scene when in the carriage by themselves. It does have steamy parts with this one it has less than the other two in series. Since Belle has to overcome being afraid of turning the Prince into a beast as well. When they over come it Prince and Belle finally come together with more graphic of what they are doing in the hotel room.
If you don’t like that part of a romance book it would very easy to skip it and not have to skip a lot for this book to ruin it for readers. I thought it was good, I was definitely hoping for a few more making out because you can definitely tell the chemistry of the characters.

Men like food
Women like coffee
Hardeharhardehar

No joke tho all they ate is fast food. And yet they have model hard bodies.

Men do be men-ing
And women do be nagging

I’m sooooo quirky and not like other girls 😇 I hate love and fufu princesses 😡 and I’m a unicorn 🦄 I mean virgin 👼

If you read book 1 already, you really just need to change the name to fit whatever Disney character is being retold.m with a modern day millennial twist. Like Apple for Snow White. One of the reasons why I don’t like police procedural type reads. It’s just so fucking boring that not even being in a year long slump can make me finish, let alone enjoy. 😬

Honestly I don’t even consider this fantasy. The only magic is to cover the plot. But at least it’s not a fae fantasy I suppose.

Good book.
I enjoyed listening to this book. Killian is such a cool and relaxed prince. I like how casual and chill he is. And how much he likes Belle and cares for her. The mystery of how to stop the grim effect is interesting. Lots of action and some sweet moments between them. This seems a bit more heavy in the action and plot and not as much of the relationship between Killian and Belle. Though, we can see their relationship grow and blossom. It was a good ending to the series and I enjoyed it.

A hairy entertaining read with something out of this world. I enjoyed seeing several of the supernatural's exist in this world and how the Fairytale Bureau handled it. It was a all hands on deck sort of read. The story was engaging, but I felt like there was something missing. I can’t quite pinpoint it, but I just didn’t feel as fully invested as in the previous books. A cute conclusion to this series. The narrator, Sierra Kline did a great job portraying the characters in this book. .

A very special thanks to Tantor Audio for the gifted copy.

Well, that wasn’t at all how I expected the story to wrap up! This keeps up with the twists, though you never really know what changes are going to happen, to known fairy tales. Beauty and the Beast meets, something else, and then, extraneous and necessary characters join in. Simply wonderful how things finally fell into place <3
