SEAL Team Alpha #1

A SEAL's Song

Rate this book
Navy SEAL Jack Taggart attends his friend's wedding, hoping to catch some much-needed downtime between deployments. When criminals kidnap the beautiful wedding singer, he knows that he must rescue her, at all costs, if need be.

Darci O'Shea jumped at the opportunity for a little adventure when she took the job of wedding singer in the tropics, but she didn't expect to be kidnapped by a band of thieves. Nor did she expect her rescuer to be a groomsman who could handle a gun as if he'd been born with it.

Will the battle between their inner demons be the hardest one to fight, or will they find rescue in each other's arms?

SEALs, I just love these hunky, take charge heroes. This was a good novella, short novel and took me on a wonderful escape. My only problem was with how often Jack and Darci escaped only to be recaptured. I also would have liked them to spend more time in the jungle. There were also some plot discrepancies, but nothing too bad. Personal preferences here. The book was great.

Darci O'Shea is offered to opportunity to sing at a wedding in the Caribbean, all expenses paid. She thinks this is a wonderful little vac-cay from her life in Boston. The wedding was wonderful and the guests warm and welcoming. Then the thieves show up, and she ends up kidnapped.

Jack Taggart, US Navy SEAL, is on a Caribbean island acting as best man for his best friend and to catch some R&R. The wedding was great and the wedding singer the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. After his duties as groomsman are done, he fully intends to get to know her really, really well.

Unfortunately, a gang of thieves kidnap her first. Not on his watch.

Jack (a SEAL) is taking some R and R and attending his best friend's wedding in the tropics. Darci is in a band but is hired alone to be the singer at this wedding. As soon as the wedding is over and the bride and groom have left for their honeymoon, a masked group with guns comes in and robs the guests. It's Jack's nature to try to stop any wrong doing but it doesn't work out for him. Both Jack and Darci are kidnapped and work together to find a way out of their mess.

Lowery’s well written and polished style brings this story to life. She crafts a wonderfully intriguing story combining mystery and adventure throughout. The book is intricately crafted, giving readers the full experience. The story itself was fast paced with many twists and turns along the way.

I liked that Darci was a strong woman who did not sit back and let 'the man' handle everything. However, I also liked that Jack was quite capable of handling just about anything that came along. It didn't hurt that Jack was a SEAL and I like books with SEALs in them. Their strong capabilities impress me.

I loved this emotional romance. It brought tears to my eyes and smiles to my face. If you like romance with suspense thrown in, I highly recommend this book.

I'm all for romantic suspense, but the over the top repeated escape and capture suspense on the beginning was ridiculous. It was repeated so much it was no longer believable. There were a few editing errors. And I thought the plot could have used a little strengthening explaining how the twins singled out Darci to abduct her and how they knew what she had. I almost though the wedding planner was going to be in on it.

Aside from all that it was a fun short read. Great ending. Good characters with a strong slightly hysterical heroine at times and a hunky alpha male (although Jack doesn't seem to be a very good SEAL as many times as he is recaptured in the beginning). I like that Darci didn't change her life for a man.

Slow going...

This book was just to much for me. I really enjoyed the beginning, it was a total page turner. Then, it just got....repetitive. How many times they get captured? I couldn't say. I love romantic suspense. This was just slow going for me. I did jump way ahead to the end so I could see if they ever managed to get away...without being recaptured.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat. How many times did Jack and Darci escape only to be recaptured? I lost count. I had to suspend disbelief several times because the story just seemed so unrealistic.

A SEAL'S Song is book one of the Seal Team Alpha Wet 'n Wild Navy SEALs series of contemporary romances. This book was a quick easy read novella.

Darci O'Shea has been singing at a wedding, when she is kidnapped. Navy SEAL Jack Taggart is also a guest and vows to rescue the singer. The kidnappers take them to an island where Darci and Jack must find a way to escape the ordeal.

Rather light on details, this fast paced romance was a quick read.

What do you do when you are in a different country for a wedding and then all of a sudden there are people in masks and wanting everything valuable you own??? ..... What happens when you are walking back from dropping off the couple and going back to make sure their family is ok and you see masked men with guns?? In this book you find out how a SEXY Navy Seal, and a Celtic Singer end up together trying to stay alive and get away from a brother/sister duo who are pissed off with the two of them... What happens when you add a tropical storm to the situation?... Read to find out how they handle every situation... and ALL the chemistry between them.... Will they have their Happily Ever After?..... A must read ... you wont be sorry... you'll be wanting more!

OMG! Hot Hot Hot! What's not to love about a man in uniform? Especially when he saves your life.
I totally loved this book. The first read from this author for me, I truly hope to read many more. She has a way to keep your interest throughout the entire book.
I loved the plot, the story flowing easily, and different from most other military related books I've read. The characters are strong and determined, never giving up during their little "ordeal". I won't be a spoiler and give you details, you will just have to read it for yourself, but I can tell you, that you really won't be disappointed. Well done

I received this e-book free from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing an honest review. This book has the perfect blend of romance, suspense, and humor. Darci is a Celtic singer and has been asked to sing at a destination wedding in the Caribbean. During the reception a band of thugs rob all the wedding guests. When they get to Darci she refuses to give up her Grandmothers Celtic necklace. Jack is a grooms man for one of his Seal Team brothers, while at the wedding reception he witnesses a band of thugs robbing all the guests and he tries to help by taking out most of the thugs. Darci and Jack are both taken as prisoners by the thugs.

Nice, quick story

This fairly races through the plot. It is confusing at times, a bit convoluted in parts yet it has charm.
The main characters are pleasant, they're not very deep due to the way the novel races through the story. As I read, I was slightly incredulous that a navy seal would make the very dubious decisions he did and that a woman with any sense would do what she did. How many times were they captured? The villains were also reminiscent of Home Alone movies.
This could easily have been a five star story with a little bit more writing, explanation and depth . Also it was a little bit insta love...
A good holiday read.

Good read

Enjoyed the book when the couple stopped being repeatedly recaptured by the baddies. Have to say I’d have the book more stars but felt that the repeated capture of both characters was over the top. That said when I got over it fir the umpteenth time I enjoyed the book but won’t buy any more by the author.

This book was action packed...from like page three, there was a robbery, kidnapping, fights and of course one sexy Seal! There was so much action crammed into this book, I'm not sure how it all fit in..but it did...and it worked.

This was a multi pov book which is my favorite but there is one thing I missed. Darci and Jack ended up in one bad situation after another...some times together and sometimes apart....when they were apart, I would loved to have seen both pov's to see how they both got out of that particular predicament.

The love story between the two was rather quick but then I guess when you have all that emotional turmoil things are bound to happen quickly.

One other thing I question...ok..maybe 8 things..but here are a few.......who are the Demarco's? What is their relationship to Jack? And what was so special about the necklace and how did they know Darci had it and where she would be? This left me with a lot of questions that I hope get cleared up in book 2 which I am looking forward to reading.

Do I recommend this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Yes

A Seal's Song had me on the edge of my seat throughout! I could not put it down and read it in one sitting. Jack and Darci are the perfect pairing. He is a strong alpha male Seal who is attending his best friend's wedding where Darci is the singer. Darci is just as strong willed and I was glad to see that she wasn't portrayed as a poor, pitiful woman who is helpless, she has a fire to her. Although it starts as something simple it quickly escalates into a full fledged one man Seal mission for Jack who suddenly becomes Darci's only means of staying alive and getting back home. I loved the tension between Jack and Darci that the author has created. They are both having internal struggles the entire story mixed with the struggles of trying to stay alive. There are twists and turns on every page and just when you think you know what's coming, you are thrown for another twist. The descriptions of the characters make you feel as if you really know them and I was able to imagine what they looked like. This was well written and I would recommend it. I look forward to reading some more works by Jennifer Lowery.

This was a wonderful book. I love Darci and Jack, and could not put this book down until I finished it. Jack is a hot Navy seal and attended his friend’s wedding, he planned to enjoy some down time after the wedding. Darci, craves an adventure so jumps at the chance to sing at a wedding in the sunny tropics. As soon as the wedding is over, some thieves try to rob the guests at the wedding; Jack sees what is happening and tries to stop them. Jack and Darci are taken as hostages and must work together to survive. This book is full of action, adventure, hot alpha male, kickass heroine, and romance. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I love Jack, Darci, and their families.

A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

This story has everything – a dashing Hero, a beautiful heroine, suspense, romance, sex (steamy but not graphic) and wonderful, descriptive story telling by Jennifer Lowery (http://http://jenniferloweryauthor.com/).

I purchased this book as part of the “SEAL’s of Summer” boxed set but also received a free stand-alone copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I love to read all kinds of romance books but I’m beginning to have a strong connection to ones with suspense and intrigue. This is the second book by Jennifer that I’ve read and reviewed (the first one hasn’t been published yet). Her books contain all of the elements I look for in a romantic suspense story.

If you haven’t read any of her books yet – don’t hesitate; you won’t be disappointed.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this thrilling action packed adventure.
It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.
Jack is just the type of hero we all want when we are in danger. Gorgeous Navy SEAL who is so courageous, competent and deals with the danger on all fronts.

Darci really comes into her own and she to is courageous and more than holds her own.

Through the danger and the storm they find more than they both could imagine.

I absolutely loved the ending for anyone who loves a good HEA this will more than make you sigh

I really liked meeting the family and SEAL mates and is very pleased that this is the first in an exciting new series.

Loved the premise of this book. A woman is held captive for her necklace. The Seal who tries to rescue her is also held captive. Together, they get away and during the whole thing, they fall for each other. A lot of action in this story, which I love. I know why the twins wanted the necklace, but I would have like more of a back story with it from their perspective. They planned this just for this item or was it being there a perk? All in all I did like this story.

Loved this book! Was hooked from page one - non stop action with that slow romantic build! Unexpected twists and turns - kindle did not leave my hands. Darci and Jack were such a captivating pair with chemistry galore. Sex scenes were so believable (not over the top) and definitely felt the shift over to love scenes! Wanted them to work through all their differences and give me a HEA. Hope to see more of the Demarco family and Win!

My first book by Jennifer, can't wait to read more!

I enjoyed Jack and Darci story very much, both characters were likable from the very beginning and by the end you will love them. Jack is an honorable Navy Seal and Darci a singer who was not afraid to be girly, emotional and brave. The story is full of unexpected adventure, romance and funny moments. In the last few chapters the reader is introduced to Jack's friends and family and that will make you hope that Mrs.Lowery give us a book about each of them.

I love Darcie. She is a singer for a band but has gone solo for this destination wedding. She is all about adventure but even this wedding was more than expected. Kidnapped, beaten and almost robbed. Jack is one of the groomsmen who is a navy SEAL. He has taken a few of them down but eventually is caught too. Eventually they burn up the sheets. Reality sets in. How does a coastal relationship work out. Jack figures it out. I love the ending.

A Delightful Tale, Where Seal Saves The Day

Taggers is a rugged name, and aptly given to our hero in this story. The woman is a singer attending a wedding, and she becomes a victim of a robbery. Her rescuer, an off duty Navy Seal, stumbles back to the post wedding party and discovers the heist. Great reading!

Sweet, full of action, heartwarming.

This story will make you think of intrigue and adventure as foreplay. Story never boring or confusing. I love stories about soldiers because my brother is a Marine and I'm very proud of him. Can't wait to read some more of your work. Recommend this read to anyone that need a little encouragement.
