Grey Wolf Pack #2

The Alpha's Mate

Rate this book
Rosalee Bennett comes to the town of Rose after inheriting the house of a grandmother she never knew. Things don’t exactly get off to a good start when she runs into the infuriating but sexy Alpha in the local grocery store and then gets in the middle of an argument in the local pizza parlour. Not that it matters, she’s not planning on staying in the sleepy little town.

Adam Grey, Alpha of the pack, never has trouble with women. They all practically fall at his feet, until Rosalee... He doesn’t exactly make a great first impression, which is even more frustrating when he actually realises what his wolf was trying to tell him – she’s his mate.

The Alpha struggles to think of a way to woo his sparky little mate. However when she wakes to find a burglar prowling in her house thankfully there’s a very determined wolf on hand to literally burst through her door to protect her...
Can the Alpha convince his mate to stay with him? Can he keep her safe long enough to even make that decision?

Alpah H is so arrogant, and while he was attracted to the h he didn't recognise her as his mate at first. She makes him work for it and is not sure being his mate will suit her lifestyle. The plot continues from Book 1, so a little more mystery to solve. Simple story line with some pretty steamy scenes.

Disappointing.

While I liked the idea behind the previous book 'A Mate for the Beta' the execution left a lot to be desired, the writing style was very immature and apart from the sex I'd have assumed it was aimed at a young audience. This book was no better regards the writing style and the mistakes were worse, so bad in fact it made reading difficult.
Rosalee is new to Rose she's just inherited a house from Iris Bennett her grandmother who's sees never met, the house is old and dusty but since Rosalee has the travel bug she'll do it up sell it and move on, but then she meets Adam the Alpha of the local wolf pack and suddenly Rose is looking more and more welcoming. All does not run smoothly as Rosalee wakes one night to find a burglar in her room and before she even has time to comprehend what's happening a huge wolf appears, maybe Rose isn't quite the quiet little sleepy town she imagined.
As I've already said I'm not a fan of the writing style which is a shame because dual POV books have always a favourite of mine and while Adam and Rosalee's conversations and thoughts are not as embarrassing and cringe worthy as Alec and Liv's were they're still not good, this coupled with the story which while ok wasn't really great means this is the last book on this series for me.

Price, E.A.; THE ALPHA'S MATE [Grey Wolf Pack #2]

ebook; genre: { paranormal romance }; shelves:

General Synopsis:
This is the second novella in E.A. Price's Grey Wolf Pack series.

Rosalee Bennett has come to the town of Rose, VA, after inheriting her late grandmother's house. Soon after rolling into town, she meets sexy (read: playboy) Alpha Adam Grey, of the Grey Wolf Pack. Other than fending off the very wanted advances of this VERY alpha male, it seems someone in Rose cannot let dark secrets lie with her dead grandmother. Personally, Rosalee's kinda happy she never met the woman. Only question is, can Adam Grey convince the woman who was meant for him that she's not only his mate, but the only woman he will ever want?

I know this novella has a lot of mixed reviews and I ask you to please check out my PO section, where I address some of the issues, but in all, this is a series I highly recommend checking out.

Characters/fu-bo:
Note: I have decided to put this long fu-bo list as a spoiler, mainly because although each novella in the series can be read separately, they don't follow exactly chronologically. Some of the novellas go back in time to give past history and help explain information. That being said, I love my fu-bo list, mainly because it tells me if there is a character I really like, when and if they are going to get their very own story. If you do choose to click on the spoiler link, you will see they all do (& there are many more characters who will be introduced in the series as it continues, so . . . )

Personal Opinion:

I'd like to begin with what I like about this book. Rosalee. One of the things that bothered me about the previous novella, was Liv's subservient behavior. It's an issue that I keep coming across from time to time in the books I read. I have to be honest, it's something I do not know how to address. I understand the desire for an "alpha" male, with their caveman behavior (which some read: protective/assertive), but do the heroines or even other females in the books have to be so subservient? That being said, Rosalee is affected by the mating pull, but she is also very assertive herself, and so isn't willing to just wave the white flag I guess you could say. She reminded me a lot of Sissy Mae, from The Mane Attraction by Shelly Laurenston.

Also, there was a little bit more suspense to this novella than in the first one, which I feel shows Ms. Price is growing as a writer. Below, I mention the issues I addressed in the first review of this series, mainly the grammatical errors, but I honestly feel there were less errors in this one. It's not as I mentioned in a previous review I wrote, where the errors are easily over looked (i.e. our eyes glance over them or fix them for us), so while reading this novella, I wasn't stopping frequently and trying to make sense of sentences, paragraphs, etc.

So, now to the brass tacks. Yes, there are a lot of grammatical issues with this novella, but please note, this is a novella, and Ms. Price self publishes her stories. I think if it's a huge issue for you, please contact her on her website and offer or suggest she send her novellas out for beta readers, so these grammatical issues can be solved before she posts her work on Kindle, etc.

Yes, there are also some issues with the flow of the story, again, this can be alleviated with the use of a beta reader. Also, this is the first novella is the series, so primarily, it is setting up the world building. I don't know if anyone else has the same issue, but I have to admit, usually when I read the first book in a series, it takes me a while to adjust and sometimes I feel there isn't enough of the world building. That being said, if the plot is interesting or I can see a small idea of the concept the author has for the series (see above), I usually check out the next one in the hopes that there world building will expand. This usually does happen.

I do enjoy this series, I think there is an interesting concept, and with each next novella, I feel the story as a whole progresses. I guess that is one of the good things about my inability to write reviews when I first read a book, because it allows me to continue to the series and when I do find the time to come back and write the review, I am able to understand the series a little better.

Now, one thing I would recommend to Ms. Price is I just recently read an updated version of a series I read in the past, so in the future, maybe after a beta reader or she herself has re-read the books in the series, she could fix some of the grammatical errors and flush out any parts to make them appear a little smoother and re-release this book. I won't lie, if this were to occur, I would definitely buy it again.

The Grey Wolf Pack novellas are lighthearted paranormal romances, all based around the Grey Wolf Pack led by Alpha Adam Grey and his beta, Alec Hart. The pack lives in a town called Rose which is home to a variety of shifters, witches and humans.

In the second novella, Alpha Adam Grey is shocked to find himself being turned down by a newcomer to town. A newcomer who won't even give him a name. Rosalee Bennett (the granddaughter of Iris from the first book) just wanted something to eat when she runs into the most arrogant infuriatingly hot shifter, Adam. She might not be able to stop her body's reaction, but she sure as hell can resist it - which is how she finds herself knocking the smug bastard off his horse by refusing to give her name and walking out on him.

This was funnier than the first book. Rose was spunky - she was sarcastic and brutal to Adam's ego. Poor Adam had no idea what was going on. This book also wasn't quite as flat as the first one either. It was still instalove but it was less stilted - probably because the love you's didn't come until towards the end. Instead, the main bulk of the book was made up of heated exchanges, witty banter and a ton of sex. The mystery was pretty average but it was straightforward and made sense. The world building was still weak but worked well enough to give the plot a background. 2 stars.

Rosalee Bennett didn't even know her grandmother, but after inheriting her house she decides she is intrigued enough to check it out. Of course she had not been prepared to meet an arrogant Adam Grey along the way. Adam is the Alpha in town and he didn't quite realize he was initially rude to his mate and now that he has managed to continue to dig a hole and continue to tick her off, he has to figure out how to win his mate.

Very fun read. This was filled with humor and chemistry between the lead characters. Definitely going to pick up more in this entertaining series.

No real romance

There were some cute parts in this story that had me laugh. The banter between Adam and Rosalee was funny. But, the attraction is all about sex. When Adam talks about why he's attracted to Rosalee it's all sexual. When Rosalee thinks about not leaving Adam it's only thinking about missing the sex. A lot of the scenes had to do with the bulge in his pants. It was kind of annoying.

The writing was a little off with missing words and odd punctuation.

Overall, a quick mediocre read.

Cookie cutter. Books are okay but they seem to be following the same pattern with little twist and limited action in them. I thought the Alpha story would be really good but nothing was really going on and even though the sex scenes were good, the story itself was just okay. Not sure if I'm going to read another with the Alpha one being so bland, plus it needs editing, and...I can go a couple years without reading "whilst" ever again. Okay but I think I'll leave these for now.

Grey Wolf Pack Romance Novellas Book 2 - A Alpha's Mate - By - Elizabeth Ann Price

This is the second book in the Grey Wolf Pack series and it was great! Filled with witty banter, a great storyline, action and humour.  Rosalee Bennett a twenty five year old human who is new to the town of Rose and trying to sort out an inheritance she received. She us aware of shifters and other supernatural species so wasn't shocked to learn of so many living in Rose but she was definitely caught of guard by Adam Grey, a Wolf shifter who is the pack Alpha of the Grey Wolf Pack. At twenty nine Adam is no stranger to beautiful women but the fire he finds within Rosalee is something out of this world to him and his Wolf. I loved the relationship and banter between Adam and Rosalee, it had me laughing out loud then swooning. Seeing them trying to figure our their relationship in-between mysterious events, intruders and keeping up with characters from the previous book and meeting new ones this really was a hugely enjoyable read. I highly recommend. Happy Reading.

I went into this knowing Adam was a ho, but I was surprised to read that he didn't care if his bed partners were already involved with someone else. That says more about the women he's been with, but still, since he made a point to mention that, it makes me think he's encountered that situation way more than once and just didn't give a rat's ass.

I honestly didn't like Rosalee either; she was annoying. I actually skipped over all the sex scenes because I found both Adam and Rosalee kind of yucky to picture in sexual situations. Personally, I need to actually like the characters enough to go through those scenes.

two peas in a pod

They are such a sassy couple. Rose gave him a run for his money and good for him. He was such an arrogant butthole as she put it. A great short read.

I am Enjoying this Series

I like the author's characters. The Alpha is a tad too cavalier as regards his conquest of women. He is not uncaring, just a little too self assured. That is until he meets his mate, who has no problem putting him in his place. She is human but is a confident self sufficient person. Unfortunately someone is breaking into her home; the home her evil grandmother died in. Good story. I do suggest the author get a proof reader, someone with good grammar skills. The grammatical errors were noticeable but did not keep me from enjoying the book.

The second instalment in the Wolf Pack series.

It follows on from the first, but you don't have to have read the previous book to understand what is going on. Rosalee Bennett is Iris's granddaughter and has inherited her property after her untimely demise.

She meets Adam, the Alpha of the Grey Wolf Pack and although for him it's love at first smell convincing her is a bit harder. Someone is targeting her house and keeps on breaking in and vandalising it, although Adam steps in to act as protector.

I really enjoy this series and all the side characters that are introduced.

After reading the first book, I decided to get the second book right away. Finished it in a few hours, again I thought the story line was good. The characters were relatable, but could use a good editor. But for 1.00 you cant really complain. I will be reading the third book next hoping the story lines keep getting better and better as I believe there are already 5 or 6 books out in this series right now. Not bad for a short read for the summer.

Great book, Adam gets off on the wrong foot with his mate when they first meet. Rosalee is a free spirit and just inherited a house from a grandmother she'd never met. Crazy things start to happen and Adam is there to help and protect her. The pack are like a big family and it's great to see how they all come together to help someone get to know their mates.

Great book, would recommend to anyone :)

I love her writing!

This author has a gift-she has the ability to make you feel as if you know the characters. So many authors write much bigger books and still aren't able to do that. And she makes me smile. Fun, good stories and a nice light read. And a series that gives her the potential to write about shifters you have probably already met, and are curious where their stories go. I hope you enjoy them too.

Very Good! Loving this series. This is reading like a series, with each story being a episode but each one has a HEA. It just reads back to back. I don't like stories that are part 1, part 2, etc but this one doesn't read that way because each story have it's own Hero, Heroine and HEA! Hope that makes sense! ;-)

I felt like this one was little bit jumbled...make sense? It didn't flow very well when it came to the execution, but the story line itself was adorable and I did enjoy it. There were sweet parts and the plot was well thought out, but again the writing in this one didn't impress me that much.
