The 24 books are a lot of fun. Jack Bauer is such a great character and the way the stories are told, really compliment the show as well. This is my third of this series and it didn't have the intensity that the other ones I read had, but the plot was great. The idea that two terrorist plots are going on at once, that Jack has to face two different groups at once, isn't really new to the 24 universe necessarily, but I thought it was well-plotted in this book nonetheless. It is a little strange hearing names like Nina Myers, Tony Almeida, Chris Henderson, and Jamey Farrell helping Jack when you know their fate in the show. Kim's life is put in jeopardy as well in this one, so Jack's focus is not always on the mission at times. There are also a slew of interesting new characters into the 24 universe and they do seem to all fit nicely in their own right. I am looking forward to reading more of Jack's exploits in the other books in the series, and give Whitman credit for keeping Jack feel like Jack even in the literal world of 24.

well i'm a 24 fanatic so of course this book was amazing! you get to see Jack Bauer while his wife is still alive, before the show starts its pretty cool... of course Jack Bauer is Jack Bauer so nothings changed he is still the best ever....haha

Another pre-Season One Bauer adventure that reads very much like an episode of what will always be one of my favourite TV shows. Whitman does a good job bringing Jack, Tony Almeida, Nina Myers and others to life, with a smattering of original characters, too. Notable for a cameo from Christopher Henderson, who becomes a large part of things in later seasons of the television series.

Perfectly captures the feel of the TV series although in book form some elements do feel very rushed and pointless.

I was pretty disappointed with this book compared to the others that I've read in the series.

For one, I thought the terrorist plot line was pretty weak. It seemed hastily written, I was constantly getting all the bad guys mixed up, and maybe it's just me, but I've never really seen a terrorist attack happen because the masterminds are concerned with the environment. Actually, now that I think about it, I'm not sure the other group of terrorists even had a cause.

Another thing I didn't like was the Mercy Bennet character. Maybe it's just because she isn't a character from the show, but I thought she was in the way and the book would have been better without her. The relationship between Mercy and Jack annoyed me more than anything, because when I read these books I always hope to see glimpses of Jack and Nina having feelings for each other, but Nina was pushed aside and replaced by this wanna-be-bad-ass female detective.

Overall, I didn't enjoy the plot very much, but the book itself wasn't awful, if only because it's 24.

For anyone who's a fan of 24, this is a definite book for you. It details the exploits of Jack Bauer as he has to fight off 2 terrorist threats to the city, one is a bio-weapon threat, the other a threat to the lives of 2 world leaders. The bio-weapon mentioned is a rather nasty one, that can potentially kill its victims in 12-24 hours. It goes through the full 24 hour period to wrap up the case just like in the show.

Literatura básica y sin mucho contenido mirándolo de un punto de vista objetivo. Está hecho para los fanáticos y soy un super fanático de la serie así que subjetivamente lo disfruté bastante. Es una precuela a la primera temporada de la serie. Salen personajes que se van entrelazando en la serie con la historia. Se aprecian los detalles.

There is no such thing as too much Jack Bauer. This could have been a bad book, I'd have read it. It was not a bad book, good excitement, pretty good story and Jack Bauer. There's just no such thing as too much Jack Bauer. Now I have to go buy all the other books because I didn't even know this series existed!

Quite enjoyed this one. Was a bit more streamlined and focused then the other ones, which makes the bad guys lack in depth a bit, but was made up for in the quick, intimate pacing and also had some touches and foreshadowing of the failing of Jack's personal life which was a nice accent that was handled just enough.

It's 24 fan fiction. The fact that it's just like watching a season of 24 is about all you need to know. There are apparently certain authors in this series of fan fiction you should stay away from, but Whitman was OK.

Some of my favorite books in no particular order are The Godfather,Jaws,Burr,The Faithful Spy,Memorial Day,Flashman,The Rainmaker, et al.Now I will add Cat's Claw.This is a Jack Bauer nonstop action thriller that you won't put down.I hope this guy writes some more 24 books,he is a very good writer.

Now this is what a based-on-tv-spin-off book should be! It doesn't try and be something it's not -- it simply gets out of the way and allows Jack Bauer to be Jack Bauer.
