For Finn, things will never be the like they were before he left...before he was the only one of his team to come home alive. No, those days are gone. Now he does what he can to forget what happened over there. How could Carrie ever want this scarred up shell of a man? She can do so much better, at least then her daddy would be happy.
Carrie would be lying if she said that this Finn standing before her was the same Finn that left on a mission months ago. But that Finn never came home. She is willing to do whatever it takes to make Finn see she loves him more than ever...even the scars...even the nightmares. She just wants him to open up and let her in so she can help take all the pain away. A mission of her own she is not sure she can accomplish.
This book absolutely tore me up and wreaked havoc on my heart and emotions. There were times I was hurting and crying over Finn and the hell he went through, only to turn right back around and loathe his very presence. As a reader you will feel every emotion available: pain, heartbreak, happiness, sadness, anger…everything. McLaughlin did such an amazing job writing this story and getting the emotion behind it out there for us to feel. To believe. To experience.
Undoubtedly my favorite book of the three. It was dark at times but then again, there was hope and light too. The buildup of emotions and story was almost too much at times and I found myself having to step away from the book. A few minutes here and there, just enough to regain some composure. I really believe that McLaughlin nailed the reality of it all and made this absolutely, without a doubt, 100% believable.
Sad now that the series is over, but I finish it with a smile on my face. It ends on a happy note and it ends perfectly. I couldn’t ask for a better ending to a series that has shook my world and made me a fan of McLaughlin’s for life. Whatever she writes I will be there ready to read it.

This was my favorite of the series!
Even though Carrie and Finn are finally reunited, Finn is tortured by horrible memories and PTSD. I felt so bad for both of them.....Carrie tiptoeing around him instead of her usual sarcastic self and Finn just broken, physically and mentally.
If you are looking for a quick series to read, like military men, and seek a little bit of angst, this would be for you!

Non c’è niente da fare, Carrie e Finn sono riusciti a entusiasmarmi e TOCCARMI NEL PROFONDO anche questa volta.
Finn è a pezzi dopo che la guerra ha lasciato su di lui un segno indelebile.
E per Carrie raccogliere quei pezzi sarà doloroso e molto complicato.
La guerra ti sporca con i suoi orrori e ti cambia per sempre. Quello che fa la differenza è la forza d’animo con cui tenti di superare l’agonia e recuperare te stesso, da solo o con l’aiuto di chi ti ama.
E in questo, Finn è estremamente fortunato perché può sempre contare su Carrie.
Questa ragazza è stata davvero eccezionale, con la sua pazienza, la sua dedizione e il suo amore fortissimo è diventata per lui una roccia, una sorta di ANCORA DI SALVEZZA, nonostante le menzogne di Finn, il suo abbandono ai farmaci e all’alcool per scivolare nell’oblio e ogni stupido tentativo di tagliarla fuori dalla sua vita.
O l’assurda convinzione di non essere più degno di lei per colpa di ferite che gli deturpano il corpo e l’anima.
E’ stato SNERVANTE assistere impotente a tutto ciò.
Avevo voglia di entrare nella testa di Finn e liberarla da ogni tormento o malsana fissazione. Soprattutto quando stabilisce che Carrie sarebbe stata molto meglio senza di lui.
Ma dico, come si può prendere una decisione così importante al posto di qualcun altro senza nemmeno chiamarlo in causa?
Pur sapendo che il Disturbo Post Traumatico da Stress è comunque una condizione seria e importante (e ogni comportamento di Finn era dunque giustificato dalla sua brutale esperienza passata) ho avuto voglia lo stesso di prenderlo a sberle, in più di un’occasione.
Non poteva arrendersi così, punto e basta.
Non poteva buttare via un amore così speciale come il loro, per orgoglio e stupida autocommiserazione.
E ad aggravare una situazione già fragile, ci si mette pure la malattia del padre di Finn con la sua triste evoluzione. Di male in peggio…
E il mio stomaco si è stretto ancora di più.
Grazie a Dio però questo libro non ci regala solo una bella dose di angoscia, ma anche momenti di sensualità e TENEREZZA infinita, di quelli che ti fanno sciogliere come cioccolato fuso, di quelli che ti fanno sperare che tutto possa risolversi per il meglio, se porti pazienza e credi nei miracoli.
Perché dopo aver preso una decisione devastante per entrambi e dopo aver iniziato un importante percorso di guarigione, Finn tenterà di riavere Carrie nella sua vita.
Anche se riconquistare la sua fiducia, dopo averle spezzato il cuore, non sarà affatto facile.
Ma lui è un ragazzo dalle mille risorse e per farsi perdonare userà il metodo più naturale, più malizioso e più dolce che conosce. Il “METODO FINN”.
Ritornando ad essere il ragazzo meraviglioso che mi aveva fatto innamorare all’inizio della serie.
Questo terzo libro mi ha risucchiato in una storia fatta di amore, sofferenza e desiderio quasi disperato.
Riversandomi addosso ogni emozione in un modo sempre delicato ma forse anche PIU' INTENSO rispetto ai volumi precedenti.
E mantenere l’attenzione costantemente viva e un coinvolgimento sempre forte una volta arrivati al terzo capitolo di una serie, di questi tempi è un dono prezioso e assolutamente raro.

Finn wasn't really Finn anymore...
The Finn that left on a mission, did not come back the same. This injured Finn is wrestling with pain, flashbacks, and a changed appearance. He is coping in unhealthy ways and hiding behind walls. The nightmares just will not go away and he is losing control.
Carrie just wants her Finn back, but she is trying hard to support this troubled man resembling him. But there is tension, anxiety, and fear. Their forbidden relationship has been outed to her Dad so they are also under his watchful eye adding more stress.
She was flawless. And then there was me...Beauty and the Beast.
He pushes her away due to his depression, feelings of unworthiness, guilt, and grief. He thinks he is not good enough for her and he hates hurting her. They struggle trying to deal with his changing personality and other family issues. Their relationship strain and other situations finally overwhelm Finn, no matter how hard Carrie digs in and tries to save him. And finally something has to give.
There is no right decision on how to help a person recover from something so horrible. And no matter how much Carrie wants to help, it is ultimately up to Finn to figure out what will make him crawl out of the darkness again. But if Finn can't love himself, how can he show Carrie love?
Once upon a time, I'd been sure we would get our happy ending. I'd known, deep down to my soul, that we were meant to be together forever. That I was the best man for her, because no one would make her happier than I could, because our love was just that f***ing strong. I'd been certain of it. I couldn't say the same thing anymore.
This couple has been through so much already, but this situation will test them to the extreme. It makes them question everything. They are conflicted and hurting, and the wall between them is hard to break down. They both have to find their own inner strength to deal with the fall out. And sometimes love just isn't enough to fix everything that is broken. Sometimes choices are made that cannot be taken back. Finn battles to find himself, find hope, his way back to her, and determine if he is worthy of a future with her. Carrie struggles to be with him, love him, and keep him.
Finn is not the easiest or most popular choice for Carrie. She has other admirers. And her father still has strong opinions as well. I do have to admit that I really liked the easy going, caring friend Riley (even though I am totally Team Finn). And I also liked their other friends Hernandez and Marie who supported them the best that they could and also provided some comic relief.
My heart literally broke for both Finn and Carrie. My emotions were all over the place at various points. I was frustrated, angry, sad, disappointed, tense, happy, hopeful, smirking, and smiling all at various times along with them. At times it was dark and frustrating, but there were periods of hope and light too. Intermixed with the negative situations, were also times of romance and passion.
This is ultimately the story of one man's journey towards finding himself again, healing, and moving forward. And of his quest to put his life back together. It was difficult, painful, heartbreaking, and challenging. Sometimes you have fight against love and other times you have to fight for it. The story finally gives them resolution and brings them full circle.
This was my favorite of the series and it was the most heart felt and emotional. It was told in both Finn and Carrie's points of view allowing us to see their conflicting thoughts, emotions, and pain. I really think she did their story justice as we have seen them change and mature throughout all three books and they have shown such growth both individually and together. Even though this is the end of this series, perhaps we will see glimpses of them in future books about their friends.

Ohhh Finn. What can I say but I felt as if my heart was bleeding out for him. I've read quite a few books recently dealing with PTSD following active service, however Jen McLaughlin manages to get deeper into the characters mind set in order to make the reader understand just how devastating it can be not only to the individual but to everyone else around them.
The way Finn views himself, his ever decreasing self-esteem and confidence is a painful reminder that not only are wounds physical but they can have an emotional price steeper than the physical. The cost paid by Carrie as well as Finn.
There is a particular scene in the book that is so emotionally written that you feel as if Jen McLaughlin has not only ripped your heart out but taken great pleasure in stamping all over it as well. For me lies are the worse thing of all to face, having had personal experience of a relationship descending into lies, they undermine everything; leaving you questioning if any aspect of that relationship truly mattered.
Finn and Carrie have a once in a lifetime, all consuming love that even through their darkest times carries them through for each other. Love isn't all hearts and flowers, it requires nurturing and protecting just like anything worthwhile.
You know I adore epilogues and Jen managed to sweep me off my feet with hers.
While Finn and Carrie's story may have reached it's conclusion it doesn't look as if we're saying goodbye completely; the peripheral characters are set to get their own stories. Who else is shouting HOORAY :)

I have been a fan of the Out of Line series - and Out of Mind kind of threw me into some weird vortex of emotions!!
The story begins after the tragic ending in Out of Time...
Finn is recuperating...suffering internally for what's been lost. He's taking it all out on himself. On Carrie. And Finn is just not the same person he used to be after that tragic night.
He's drinking his feelings away.
He's praying his nightmares will disperse with a swallow of pills.
He keeps pretending to be okay when he so far from it.
Carrie isn't blind to the way Finn is acting. She isn't blind to nightmares at night. She isn't blind to his extreme intake of whiskey to numb his pain and quiet his mind. She isn't blind to his dependency of the pain killers.
And she tries. Carrie struggles during Finn's healing to get him to be the Finn she fell in love with...the man who made her believe that sun is always shining .
But there's only so much she can do before she starts to notice Finn is pushing her away.
Finn starts to make himself believe, and accept what he believes has been thrown in his face all along by his former boss/girlfriend's Father, Senater Wallington, that he just was not good enough for Carrie. Or will he ever be.
In the midst of his wallowing, something else tragic happens to Finn throwing him over the edge.
Rampage.
Heartache.
Heartbreak.
Internal, mind boggling battles...
This was the part where I wanted to throttle Finn.
I was fuming!! I hurt for Carrie. I literally wanted to jump in the book and knock Finn on his ass for the card he pulled!!
FAST FORWARD....MONTHS LATER....
Carrie is trying to move on with her life. She's trying to let go of the love she lost, vowing never to love again.
She tries to have feelings for Riley, figuring that maybe one day she'd learn to love him...but nothing will ever replace the love she felt/still had for Finn.
Meanwhile...Finn has been on the road recovery...trying to better himself after almost making a horrible decision one night. He decides he wants to better himself. He wants to make something of his life - for himself...for the promise he made to his Father...and of course, to Carrie.
After coming to a decision to fight for what he wants (although I think after the stunt he pulled, he really didn't deserve it), he approaches Carrie to try to win her back.
Carrie is not having it at first.
Finn is relentless.
Finn redeems himself...eventually. And my heart thaws out a bit towards him, even though I'm still pissed while writing my review.
Happily ever after? You bet. And a well deserved one considering everything these two have gone through in order to protect their love for one another, regardless of how Out of Line it may have started out to be.

Finalmente siamo arrivati alla conclusione della storia di Carrie e Finn. Anche se a dire il vero, in lingua originale, c'è un capitolo successivo, ma sarebbe quello che io chiamo "l'in più".
Abbiamo lasciato Finn nel secondo volume in convalescenza dopo i traumi riportati in missione, e da qui riprendiamo.
Finn dopo la missione e l'agguato non è più lo stesso, tutti i compagni della sua divisione sono morti, lui è l'unico sopravvissuto e questo pensiero non gli dà pace. E' ferito e alle prese con il dolore, sia fisico che mentale, ha continui incubi e flashback nei quali rivive la tragedia. Gli incubi non accennano a lasciarlo e lui sta perdendo il controllo della sua vita. E' affetto da PTSD (disturbo postraumatico da stress) e Carrie vuole solo rimanere vicino al suo uomo, ma è difficile riuscire a placare la sua anima tormentata.
E' palpabile in questa parte del libro la tensione, l'ansia e la paura che prova Finn e che naturalmente trasmette in alcuni frangenti a Carrie, tutto ciò viene aggravato dal fatto che lui inizia ad abusare di alcool e antidolorifici oltre al continuo controllo del padre che non vede di buon occhio la loro relazione. Tutto questo aggiunge stress a una situazione già al limite.
Finn ha bisogno di Carrie ma allo stesso tempo la respinge a causa della depressione. Si sente inadeguato, in colpa per esser sopravvissuto ai suoi compagni, e pensa che in queste condizioni riuscirà solo a rovinarle la vita. Non importa quanto Carrie voglia aiutarlo, finché Finn non riuscirà a uscire da quella zona d'ombra in cui è entrato, lei non potrà fare nulla. Insomma, questa situazione li porta al punto di rottura, a volte l'amore per quanto forte e intenso non basta. Semplicemente non si possono rimettere insieme i pezzi quando questi sono troppi. Finn deve ritrovare se stesso, trovare la speranza, la strada per tornare da lei, e determinare se è degno di un futuro. Carrie lotta per stare con lui, amarlo, e tenerlo. Ma non basta. La morte del padre di Finn è l'ultima goccia e da lì tutto va in frantumi.
Le emozioni che si provano vivendo tutto questo sono tante: frustrazione, rabbia, tristezza, delusione che sono comunque mescolate ad attimi di romanticismo e passione.
Questo libro non è solo una storia d'amore ma anche la storia di un uomo alla ricerca di se stesso. Il tentativo di un uomo di rimettere insieme la sua vita. E' stato difficile, doloroso, straziante, e stimolante.
L'unica cosa che mi trattiene dal dargli il massimo dei voti è che invece non ho digerito il salto temporale che si ha, cioè da quando loro si lasciano a quando lui riprende possesso di se stesso. Quella parte poteva essere veramente molto intensa e invece a mio avviso è stata un po' tirata via, come se si avesse fretta di concludere, dandoci solo delle informazioni spot su quello che Finn o Carrie passano mentre sono separati. Ecco, secondo me qualcosa in più in questa parte avrebbe potuto arricchire ulteriormente l'intensità del romanzo.

The last book in the Out of Line series was a beautiful, heart-throbbing show of what Carrie and Finn are made of.
To be honest I'm very skeptical of last books in series. I'm a YA and NA reader and I have see a LOT of bad endings so I'm always hesitant but I love this series I just jumped right in. Jen McLaughlin nailed this ending. This whole entire book had me on edge, the beginning, middle, and ending.
Carrie and Finn are obviously going through so many different things with the way that Out of Time left off and they both handle all of the emotions in different ways. This book is definitely a bit more heavy and serious than the first two books.
My favorite part of this book is how much we get to see the characters grow in this book. It does take place over a a couple of years and it was just perfect. We definitely see more of the senator-best thing ever! We really got to meet the senator and get a feel for why he does certain things.
Jen McLaughlin did a smashing job (did I just sound a little Australian there?) of this book I am very sad that the series is over. I am definitely looking forward to more of Jen's books.
Also, just so you guys to the Epilogue of the book might be a bit familiar to some of you. Look for Jen's Author's Note at the back of the book to figure out why. :)

To say that I loved this book would be a complete understatement!! This book took me on such an amazing roller-coaster ride of emotions. The first half of the book left me with tears in my eyes. It was so hard to read the things that were happening. Jen McLaughlin did an amazing job with Finn and the way he dealt with returning from his mission.
Out of Mind will have you feeling angst, happiness, heartache, sadness, anger & frustration and of course, love :) I am so glad I took a chance and read this series. I fell in love with the characters immediately and even though I am sad to see Carrie and Finn's story end, I was given the best possible ending!
What an incredible journey this has been. The sun is finally shining and I will forever be a fan of Carrie and Finn. I look forward to reading more from Jen McLaughlin in the future!

Please if you have not read Book 1 and Book 2 in this series, please read before reading this reviewing.
This was a wonderful ending to this series. After the cliffy from book 2, I needed to know what happened next. I will warn you this is an emotionally and powerfully charged book. I was a mess because this dealt with real topics that our soldiers and family face all the time. With that being said, book 3 picks up where book 2 leaves off. Jen McLaughlin takes us deep into the psyche of PTSD by allowing us to get into Finn’s mind. It is gritty, devastating and as a reader you will feel everything that Finn will go through. I cried so many times reading this book.
Finn…I love him to death but he is dealing with PTSD. He was hurt during an attack, and is scarred physically and emotionally. He has constant nightmares of the attack and is having trouble dealing with things. He feels guilty that brothers, fellow soldiers, did not make it back alive and does not understand why he did. Finn views himself as a monster and slowly we watch our Finn loose his self-esteem and confidence until he is no longer Finn.
Carrie has grown so much in this series and loves Finn unconditionally. She is there for him when he is sent home to recover from his wounds. Carrie wants Finn back, even though she knows he will never be the same, she loves him for the man he is. She tries so hard to be supportive of him but there is persistent pressure and worry since her father (the Senator) has finally found out they are a couple. They are constantly under scrutiny.
Finn turns to pain medication and alcohol to get away from his nightmares and what he views his reality. He pushes Carrie away, thinking he is not good for her anymore. He knows he is hurting her with his actions. When I tell you the author does not sugarcoat this topic of PTSD I really mean she does not. She shows us Finn’s feelings of depression, worthlessness, guilt, grief, anger and self-loathing.
Carrie and Finn struggle to try and deal with his shifting disposition and other family issues. No matter how hard Carrie tries to stick it out with Finn, everything finally takes its toll and things change for this couple. Carrie realizes she cannot save Finn if he is not willing to do it as well.
“I’m not giving up on you – but you need to fight, too. You’re going to realize this is wrong. You’re going to regret this, and I’ll forgive you. But you can’t say things like that to me and expect me to forgive that. I love you, and I’ll always love you, but this isn’t okay.”
I was an emotional mess reading how much Finn and Carrie were hurting. You can feel and see the deep love they have for each other but when everything they built crumbles…everything is questioned. They realize they both have to heal and find the strength to do this alone. Even though you love a person, at times you have to love them enough to let them go and pray you can find your way back to each other. But also knowing that sometimes love is not enough.
Finn fights to find himself, his confidence and be the man who is worthy of a future with Carrie. Because life without Carrie is not an option.
“I was f*ck*d up. More so than I ever let you see. You have no idea how dark I was. My pain wasn’t because of you, you made me to f***ng happy. Don’t push me away. I need you. Love me again, Ginger.”
Carrie is also struggling to move forward with her life. Riley a good friend and is there for Carrie during this time offering her the support she needs most. She literally gets Carrie out of the bed and to start living her life.
In books 1 and 2, we saw a lot of Carrie’s story but this book was about Finn and his voyage to finding himself. Watching Finn go through this process was tough, agonizing, touching and inspiring.
I am a fan of this series and loved them all. But I have to be honest and say that this was by far the best one yet. This book is in dual POVs so we get to see how both parties deal with these issues. The author did as amazing job with their finale.

4.5 Mind Capturing Stars by Finn Coram
Jen McLaughlin has truly saved the best for last. Out of Mind picks up right where book 2, Out of Time, left off. Filled with angst, concern, sadness for what is in store for not only Finn but for Carrie and Finn as a couple. Well Mrs. McLaughlin will definitely test out your emotions in this story. The backdrop to this book, a wounded solider returning from battle broken physically, mentally and emotionally, struggling to cope with the events he has endured is devastatingly realistic. Finn’s attempt to transition back into his everyday routine is the farthest from easy. His injuries stem deeper than the surface.
My heart continued to crack for this man. It seemed as if life was holding a rain cloud above him and the clouds refused to dissipate. During these trying times Carries demonstrates such patience, compassion and maturity. Some parts were a tad frustrating she tended to walk on eggshells around Finn when he needed to be called out at some points. I was surprised yet relieved by the support her father offers over the course of the book. He truly has the best intentions for his daughter and doesn’t wish her heartbreak. Unfortunately, Finn becomes so lost in his pity/insecurities that his and Carrie’s relationship is put to the ultimate test, can love that has lost course be found again?
Past characters pose additional obstacles to Finn and Carrie; one in particular, Riley, damn that man cannot be any more perfect. All you want to do is shout at your kindle screen ”Ehh ehh find another friend buddy, leave Carrie alone!” but at the same time you can’t help but aww at his actions towards Carrie. As much as I’d love to have two men like Finn and Riley surrounding me, boy did I NOT envy Carrie. She is one strong heroine. She has her moments when she allows the vulnerability of all the events with Finn, with Riley, with Cory to consume her nonetheless she fights back every time to stay true to her character—feisty, driven and passionate.
This book is by far my favorite. Jen McLaughlin introduces some dark concepts into this book, addiction, PTSD… but does a phenomenal job portraying the toll they take on individual and loved ones and the process of overcoming them. We see so much growth in both Finn and Carrie. I had thought I already had a good feel for these two but Mrs. McLaughlin strips these characters bare to start this book off, serving up two broken individuals each trying to fight to save one another than each other, then we see over the course of the book they pick up the pieces and rediscover themselves; will this redefinition help lead them back to one another, or are the pieces to jagged to fit back together? I was biting my nails up til 90% into the book. It was hard to feel a sense of relief when all I was showered with was a sense of bittersweetness. So happy to see the direction Jen took this series and so proud of these characters but not ready to see them go. Finn Coram Addiction cannot be cured with just 3 books!!!! Are there some long lost Coram brothers that maybe want to surface?

Carrie’s mission has just begun, but it seems like everything continues to go against them as they fight to stay together despite nightmares, alcohol, and tragedy. They said they’d never give up on one another, but Finn can’t see past his depression and anger, so he does the one thing he thinks is best – he pushes Carrie away in order to keep the sun shining, but what happens when that brightness only fades? How do two people find their way back to each other when one has lost hope and the other can’t find a way to reach the person she doesn’t want to live without?
These questions and more are answered in the final book of Jen McLaughlin’s Out of Line series, Out of Mind. The emotions felt throughout the first two books are nothing compared to book three. As a reader, my heart broke for both Finn and Carrie as Finn struggles to work through his pain, and Carrie can do nothing more than try to stand by him. Finn has always been a manly man in this series, so when he can’t take care of himself or control all of the feelings stirring around inside, he feels insignificant and sees nothing more than a battered and scarred man when he looks in the mirror. He never thought he was good enough for Carrie, and now this new version of Finn is even more unworthy. His struggle is heartbreakingly real; Jen McLaughlin does a fantastic job of portraying the damage PTSD causes, both the one suffering from it and those who are standing in the wing trying to help him, and she also clearly shows that the person who is suffering cannot get healthy unless that person chooses to do so – no matter how much the people who love him try to push him or comfort him.

Finn and Carrie’s journey to their happily ever after is definitely not an easy one. Finn is going to have to work to get Carrie’s forgiveness after the lies he told; Carrie’s parents will have to concede and allow Finn and Carrie’s relationship to continue if they want their daughter to be able, and in order for Carrie to feel solid in her relationship with Finn, he needs to dedicate his life to proving that his love is worth the risk.
Out of Mind is a fantastic conclusion to a love story that has seen its fair share of highs and lows – there have been tears, anger, and happiness as Finn and Carrie struggled to make a relationship work that, at first, had to be kept a secret. But what it truly comes down to and what Jen McLaughlin does a fantastic job showing is that even people who seem to be complete opposites can end up being each other’s saving grace, and for Finn, Carrie’s his.

A few months ago I got the chance to discover The Out of Line Series. Carrie and Finn's love story warmed my heart from the very beginning. When I picked up Out of Line for the first time, I did not know what to expect. It was my first time reading something from Jen McLaughlin. A few chapters is all it took to make me fall in love with these amazing characters! If you have not read Out of Line and Out of Time yet, I strongly suggest that you add them to your TBR list. This's series is beautifully written and so real!
Out of Mind is the final book in this series, and I am so sad to see it end :( Out of all the books in the series this one was the most emotional one for me. You will definitely have to read the first two books to follow Carrie and Finn's journey in Out of Mind. In this book, Carrie and Finn encounter many obstacles that will tear them apart. Seeing the person that you love the most in the whole world change right in front of you is painful. Carrie wants the old Finn back. When Finn came back from his mission he was a completely different person. After seeing all the people that he loves slip away, one by one out of his life, Finn's world comes crashing down. The last thing he wants to do is to let go of the woman he loves. But, once he comes back to her, images of the horrific moments he lived while away haunt him non-stop. He's a changed man. He sees it and so does Carrie. The more he pushes her away the more she holds on to their love. Will their love be strong enough to survive these difficult times?
I can't believe this fantastic journey is over!!!!! I loved following Carrie and Finn! These are two memorable and remarkable characters! They had many ups and downs like every couple. Love is beautiful, but it's also painful at times. When you get your heart broken it takes time to put all the pieces back together. You can't fix a broken heart with a simple ''I'm sorry'' or with a kiss. What I loved the most about Carrie and Finn's relationship is that nothing was rushed. It took them time to realize that they could not live apart from each other. Finn had to work hard to find the old Finn. The Finn that Carrie still sees behind that wall he so stubbornly put up. Even if at times I wanted to give him a virtual slap for hurting Carrie's feelings , I still loved him! Carrie was sweet and understanding. She could see Finn struggling and she was always there to show her love and support.
I really liked Riley, Marie and Hernandez. I would absolutely love to see a series about Marie and Hernandez. Riley was great as well, and I really hope he finds his HEA. He's an amazing character!
I give, Out of Mind, by Jen McLaughlin 4.5 poignant, fantastic, romantic, the sun is finally shining stars! Add this awesome series to your TBR list! You won't be disappointed! ;)

I can't believe this fantastic journey is over!!!!! I loved following Carrie and Finn! These are two memorable and remarkable characters! They had many ups and downs like every couple. Love is beautiful, but it's also painful at times. When you get your heart broken it takes time to put all the pieces back together. You can't fix a broken heart with a simple ''I'm sorry'' or with a kiss. What I loved the most about Carrie and Finn's relationship is that nothing was rushed. It took them time to realize that they could not live apart from each other. Finn had to work hard to find the old Finn. The Finn that Carrie still sees behind that wall he so stubbornly put up. Even if at times I wanted to give him a virtual slap for hurting Carrie's feelings , I still loved him! Carrie was sweet and understanding. She could see Finn struggling and she was always there to show her love and support.
I really liked Riley, Marie and Hernandez. I would absolutely love to see a series about Marie and Hernandez. Riley was great as well, and I really hope he finds his HEA. He's an amazing character!
I give, Out of Mind, by Jen McLaughlin 4.5 poignant, fantastic, romantic, the sun is finally shining stars! Add this awesome series to your TBR list! You won't be disappointed! ;)

I have been an avid follower of this series since it was released last year. I was immediately hooked by its premise and its character and the rest as they say is history. *wink* and now, the conclusion to Carrie and Finn's story is here and let me tell you guys it’s much more heart tugging and emotional than the first tow books.
I was hurting for Finn. The crap that is piling up on him is non-stop. He's not just losing things, he's losing people. He's losing himself with his grief.
To say that he’s been a lot on this story was a complete understatement because he’s been on a lot moved on and has been on a lot more and now he’s struggling to find his way back. It’s actually hard to explain what happened to Finn without spoiling it, but just to be warn, he’s just not the same Finn we all met at the first two books. Yes, I was actually surprised that a guy like him all strong and mighty will let his grief eat him up but he has his reasons; reasons that will all break our heart.
I was also hurting for Carrie. But for most parts, I truly admire her. I admire her strength for both her and will and her determination to help Finn in surpassing what he's been going through. I’m really proud how she did grow up.
Out Of Mind surprisingly tore me up. Yes, I know this will be the last book for Carrie and Finn and struggles will surely be there but I didn’t expect it to wreck havoc into my heartstrings and emotion. It was the darkest of the three books but by far my favorite of them all. The build-up of emotion as well as the growing-apart phase of the characters was well written.
The story of Finn and Carrie might end here but all's well that’s ends well right? I couldn’t ask for a fitting ending for them. Jen Mclaughlin did such an amazing job writing this story and getting all the emotions that are present - pain, heartbreak, fear, sadness, anger, happiness and everything else. She totally nailed it with this conclusion!

Jen McLaughlin has truly saved the best for last. Out of Mind picks up right where book 2, Out of Time, left off. Filled with angst, concern, sadness for what is in store for not only Finn but for Carrie and Finn as a couple. Well Mrs. McLaughlin will definitely test out your emotions in this story. The backdrop to this book, a wounded solider returning from battle, broken physically, mentally and emotionally and struggling to cope with the events he has endured is devastatingly realistic.
This book is by far my favorite. Jen McLaughlin introduces some dark concepts into this book, addiction, PTSD… but does a phenomenal job portraying the toll they take on individuals and loved ones and the process of overcoming them.... I was biting my nails up until 90% into the book. It was hard to feel a sense of relief when all I was showered with was a sense of bittersweetness. I was so happy to see the direction Jen took this series and so proud of these characters but not ready to see them go. Finn Coram Addiction cannot be cured with just 3 books!!!! Are there some long lost Coram brothers that maybe want to surface?

I LOVED the first two books, and anxiously awaited a resolution to the very tumultuous ending of “Out of Time” – and I have to say “Out of Mind” did not disappoint! It is hard for me to review the book without giving away spoilers, and for those of you who have not yet had the pleasure to meet Carrie and Finn, what are you waiting for?! So this review will not discuss the plot twists and turns, only to say that I was on the edge of my seat the entire book. I could not put my kindle down, I had to know what was going to happen next and what a wild ride!
I am sad to see the end of Carrie and Finn’s story, though Jen left room for other books with different characters. Personally, I am dying to see what happens with Marie – please, Jen, give Marie her own book! 4 big stars! “Out of Mind” is a must read for fans of Jen McLaughlin, and is a wonderful end to the series.

4.5 Stars!!! Loved it.
I fell in love with Finn and Carrie in Out of Line and have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of their journey in Out of Time, and now in the last installment, Out of Mind. Out of Mind picks up where Out of Time leaves off. Finn is broken, wounded, and bruised inside and out, emotionally and physically, forever scarred by the events that took place while he was overseas. Carrie and Finn's relationship is out in the open now, so they no longer harbor the burden of having to keep things a secret. While her dad, "The Senator," isn't thrilled about it, he is accepting, especially after what happened to Finn. As if he hasn't suffered enough loss, Finn loses someone else close to him state-side, which causes things to spiral downward even further. Carrie and Finn's relationship, which seemed unbreakable, now suffers the hardest test that the two of them will face, a test that just might destroy them both and everything they have together.
As I said above, I just love Finn and Carrie. Finn's situation was heartbreaking in this book and I just wanted to reach in a hug him, and I also wanted to reach in a shake him a few times as well. Jen McLaughlin did an excellent job of portraying this wounded warrior and his struggle with PTSD, which was heartbreaking. Carrie's character also goes through so much as she tries to be supportive, yet nurse her own broken heart, and McLaughlin further demonstrates most excellently the effects of PTSD on the loved ones of the person suffering from the disorder. Finn goes through a very dark time, struggling between what is best and what he wants, and is trying as best he can to put himself back together after he hits rock bottom. The romance is hot, as is trademark for Jen McLaughlin, and the story itself was a beautiful ending to this couple's journey. I kept flipping the pages waiting to see what was going to happen next. If you are a fan of contemporary romance, then I most definitely would recommend checking out this series.

In an effort not to spoil this experience for everyone who loves Finn and Carrie and wants to enjoy every minute of their journey, I'm going to keep my review short, sweet and simple.
Oh the emotions! I'm pretty sure I went through every one possible while reading this book. Out of Mind had tons of ups and downs, as you can probably guess from the synopsis. After being injured in the line of duty, Finn's in a dark place place and he's pushing away the person he loves most in the world. His pain was evident on nearly every page of his chapters. Carrie is trying to help Finn, but preserve herself. She's at a complete loss of what to do. Riley's lurking in the background and I had some strong suspicions about him, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised by him. Carrie's father plays a larger part in this book, and while I had my doubts about him based on some of his words and actions in the previous books, I have to be honest and say that I really liked him in this book.
It was easy to get lost in Carrie and Finn's world during this book. I was completely immersed in their love, confusion and pain. Out of Mind deals with some pretty harsh realities and does it in a way that I found both informative and respectful. It absolutely breaks my heart to think about the number of soldiers who come back from service having seen some of the gruesome realities Finn faced in this story. I can only hope each of them has a support network to help them cope.
Jen McLaughlin is a genius. I have mad love for this series and these characters. Out of Mind is an emotional, tumultuous and absolutely perfect conclusion to a series I have loved since I read the first page of Out of Line.

I wasn't sure how I was going to get through this book, in fact, it hasn't taken me this long to read a book in forever. Between constantly wiping away tears, and having to take a break to pick my heart up off the floor and put it back together, I was a complete emotion wreck while reading this book. What an apt title this book has, because it quite literally had my going out of my mind!
I have loved every second spent with Carrie and Finn. Their relationship was filled with ups and downs, and it was tested to the max on more than one occasion. But, what went down in this book, truly tore me to pieces. It came too close to home, and I felt all the pain and anguish that was poured into every page.
This book was a lot darker than the others. Finn was a complete mess. With one loss after another, I'm not sure how he coped, and I could see why it nearly drove him insane. I hated that his circumstances ripped into his relationship with Carrie, but I held onto hope that love would save them. After all, we've been taught that true love conquers all, so why would it be any different this time.
Aside from being scared for Finn, I was extremely proud of him. He did some stupid things, messed up everything that meant anything to him, but he did it with a good heart, and he was willing to work at it when the right time came. I just prayed that it wasn't too late. He was a good guy in a bad place, but he deserved his happiness, and that meant being with Carrie.
This book was hard-hitting, emotional and will make you cry like a baby. I feel so blessed to have read a book that could move me so completely. It was a spectacular read, that I am sad to see come to an end. However, I'm so glad I'm the type of reader who reads EVERYTHING in a book, otherwise I would have missed the hint that Marie, Hernandez and Riley will all be finding their happiness. I cannot wait!!

Starting reading this series with "Out Of Line" , I was IN LOVE!
I absolutely adored how Finn always protected Carrie no matter the cost. They met one day on a beach at a beach party. Carrie needed some air, and Finn came along and sat down beside her. Then it all began...
You never know what is going to happen while reading this story because, there is a twist and turn at every corner. Jen McLaughlin pulls you in with this AMAZING story. You just get so addicted to her words, meanwhile, they are emotional and heart-wrenching at times, but also sometimes they are very heart-warming and concerning. I felt like I was right there in the story along the characters because you can feel every raw emotion. This is the conclusion to this trilogy, and an awesome one at that. The journey that Finn and Carrie take together is so REAL! They absolutely love one another, and continue to fight for their relationship because it is exactly what they want and need.

You’ll be up all night with Out of Mind. An absolutely splendid conclusion to a beautiful series.
Finn and Carrie´s journey was for sure grippingly written and unpredictable with consuming emotions. Each twist and turns pulled me and sucked me in more and more.
Finn and Carrie have been through so many things in the first two books and everything that happens in the third book will just test them and their love even more. I loved every single bot of it. I could lose myself in their journey over and over again.
I love Jen´s writing style. It´s beautiful, rich and eloquent and she has such a way with the words that she makes you feel the same emotions like the her characters. I’m blown away by her writing.
It was so easy to love Finn and Carrie´s journey and it´s even easier to recommend it. Out of Line series is a captivating must-read. A unique journey that delivers on fully.
