Rate this book

It's been months since I read one of the Jessie Hunt books. I remembered today and saw that 4 more were out. Wish we all knew more about the author, Blake Pierce, but clearly there are ghost writers because no one cranks out stories as fast. I do think, because of ghost writers, some things are repeated in each book. It is nice to have the back story if it has been months since we read a previous book in the series, but I think we all remember that Hannah has tendencies towards violence, Kat was harmed and has facial scars, Jessie has head trauma from previous attacks in previous books, and Ryan wants more than Jessie is ready for. It is hard to believe that this is book 32 in the series, and it has only been 3 years (according to this book) since her first husband died and since she had the miscarriage. That helps justify more why she wants to wait and is scared when Ryan is so interested.
The plot moved along nicely, but I just hate all the evil, and some of it for no reason. I don't like revenge, but for people who are unhappy in their own situations to just kill because they don't like their lives - nuts! And the ending.... why does it always have to end so badly? Why can't someone be happy? I don't really believe the victim is dead.

Blake Pierce is my preferred author for mystery and psychological thrillers. I've expanded my reading to include titles like Riley Paige, Ella Dark, Rachel Gift, and others. However, the Jessie Hunt series remains my favorite. In the 32nd book, Jessie is grappling with the aftermath of multiple attempts on her life and a concussion that hinders her full return to the department. Her husband Ryan has relinquished his captaincy to head the HSS department again. Both Jessie and Ryan, now working together, are in therapy with Dr. Janice Lemon to address their trauma. Meanwhile, Jessie's half-sister Hannah is away at school, facing her own challenges. Jessie and Ryan are embroiled in a case involving a serial choker responsible for three women's deaths. Alongside this, we see Kat and her fiancé's storyline, with ongoing threats against her, Hannah, and Jessie. Three narratives intertwine, masterfully woven together by Blake Pierce.
I would highly recommend this book and this series but maybe one of the other Blake Pierce series may be what you would like to read.

The Perfect Accomplice - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Blake Pierce's troubled LAPD Detective Jessie Hunt is called in, when a Hollywood writer's body is discovered by her horrified PA Erin...and other wealthy women's murders follow soon afterwards.
But Jessie and husband Ryan Fernandez, who's also her HSS partner, must put personal issues aside and track the killer who seems to strike randomly.
Meanwhile, a copycat nemesis has definitely made Jessie the target now.
Read The Perfect Accomplice to see how things develop!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Perfect Accomplice. The story is fast-paced, it has a good plot that mixes old villains with new ones, and shows a new facet to Hannah's inner struggles. Jessie is also battling with herself regarding family and motherhood. In view of the end of this story I wonder what'll happen next! Highly recommended.
I thank Ms. Pierce for this ARC.

Get the haters off Jessie's tail - it's totally boring. Let's see her use her crime solving skills to to solve crimes and not outwit sick people trying to kill her. And killing Cat's boyfriend was not a good plot twist!!! Give me more Hannah!!
There's no reason to tell what happened in the story it's the same as the last 5 or 6 just change the manes- ugh!!!!

This book was really good. Jessie and Ryan are investigating to find a serial murderer. Hannah is at school and finds herself asked to do something. Kat and Mitch are planning their wedding and celebrating his new job with LAPD. So many things are happening, some good and others really sad. I loved this book! Thanks Blake!

Another good one that mixed things up, I did not guess the killer until later in the story and we had quite a shakeup up in this one. Hannah's new role again furthered and it was fun to read about, still hoping she is a greater character soon.

Maybe it’s just that I jumped in on book 32 but to me, the plot and all descriptions of it lacked cohesion. The switching between so many profiles made it hard to follow.

I do like this series but the AI voice ruins it when listening.
