For Laura Turner, helping others had been her way of coping and forgetting a past so painful, she had to hide it from the ones she loved or risk going insane. Helping her best friend Serena Singleton start a new life free from a dark past, made her feel she was helping herself move forward.

Laura, whose family ran in the same circle as billionaire composer Sebastian Sorensen and lived a life many would envy, had secrets of her own, and it had been years since she’d lived free of the same addiction that consumed her friend Serena.

When Laura moved to Los Angeles to work at a law firm who hired her to start even without her passing the bar, she meets the mysterious and sexy Peter Townshend, whose irresistible charm and take charge personality brings out a part of her she had hidden for years.

Hidden behind a wall of secrets and giving her his orders, she only has his seductive voice to guide her to do his bidding. He knows all her buttons. He knows all about her.

He knows she’s been a bad girl.

He knows good girls do bad things sometimes…even things that are…

Huge cliffhanger.

My advice is don't read this book unless you're going to continue on with the rest of this series, in ends on a huge cliffhanger, the next book is out now at 77p for 74 pages so it's not unreasonable but this is a series of 6 books and provided they're priced the same you're looking at £3.85 to finish this story.
The first time I noticed this book I passed it by assuming from the title that it was just a young girl, older man sex book, I'd just finished a book that was a little similar and I hadn't been impressed so I passed it by but the next time I flicked through the free list I noticed it had a 5 star review, I read the review and the blurb and decided I'd been hasty in ignoring in and decided to give it a go.
Laura Turner is a young hardworking good looking young woman she's just sat the bar exam and wants to become a lawyer more than anything. There's some mystery involving the death of someone called Michael and Laura being in the wrong place at the wrong time, she receives a mysterious text telling her to be at a certain place at a certain time if she wants to save her name and her career.
This is the first book I've read by this author and I have to say it had me hooked early on, it was setting up to be a really good read but then the last quarter of the book goes a little crazy, there's so much thrown in there, too much too soon for me, so while I could see the potential, and if the book had finished like it started I might have continued on although I do hate these short books which just tease you to buy the rest and this I think is the main problem with this, everything about this book is designed to make you buy the next book, you're given bits of information, just enough to make you continue reading, just enough enough to get you hooked and to be honest it was working until the mad onslaught at the end and then I'd just had enough, shame really because I enjoyed the first part which is the reason I've given 3 stars.

I did not like this book. I felt like she spent most of the book talking and thinking to herself. the book does have potential but I just felt like you are really left to piece things together.....it would have been OK if the story was completed in one book. I just could not get interested. who really is going to get off with a tie to a stranger talking to you on the phone, that you have never seen!?! Talk about EASY! not to mention there's nothing telling you actually what happened with Michael and how she is tied into it exactly.
it just has too many gaps for me

I felt there was too much going on with this book and not enough answers. Due to lack of background some of Laura's thoughts made no sense or just seemed like we were given irrelevant information as we didn't know who or what she was talking about. Due to events it's like the book is actually 2 different stories and in honesty I'm seriously confused. I'll read book 2 but am unsure if I'll finish the series.

I don't know if there is an update that I missed or what is going on, but the item description here is different that what was offered on Amazon (book is no longer available according to my link, so I'm guessing this is a description of an updated book).

I would describe this as "barely readable." The editing is spotty, there's tons of backstory that apparently happened in other books (culminating in a final chapter where a bunch of characters just show up and spew exposition about what has apparently already taken place), and overall it's unfulfilling, dull, implausible, and ends with a cliffhanger. If the neighbor you just met knocked on your door and told you a long and uncomfortably detailed account of how they'd just been sexually assaulted by their date, would you tell them to wait in your apartment while you went over there to confront the guy?

Laura Turner has just finished law school. After years of studying and having no social life, or sleep for that matter, she’s finally ready to put her skills to work. Except there’s one thing that’s stopping her. There was an accident, I believe, where she was at the wrong place at the wrong time, and now when the story gets out, the press is going to frame her as a killer. A sex-crazed, Domme who killed her submissive.
After receiving a cryptic text message from someone who goes by “P”, she drives out to Las Angeles only to find herself in an empty office with a sexy as sin voice demanding her to go to the apartment across the street. The voice identifies himself as Peter Townshend; that’s all the information she gets.
Once in the apartment, she finds herself surrounded in luxury. Clothes made specifically for her, lush carpets and a beautiful bedroom. Her neighbor is even perfect; she’s nice and Laura feels an instant connection to her.
This short novella is one full of trickery, deceit, and twists and turns. This is the second novella of Kailin’s I’ve read today and I’m not happy with how either ended. They both end of horrible cliffhangers. I will say that I liked this one more than the Blue Room Vol. 1, though.
I was drawn in from the beginning. The vague text message promising to help Laura save her reputation only gave the illusion of more suspense to come. And this book is full of it. I may not be emotionally attached to the characters, but I will give Kailin some points on knowing how to keep one on their toes.
Overall I give this novella four stars. I am really mad about the cliffhanger ending. I didn’t know that this was the first in a series. So, watch out. I don’t often complain about cliffhangers, but I was totally into this one. And I read it as a paperback, so I thought there was more, because there were more pages, but they were just acknowledgments and stuff.
Anyways, I will probably be picking up the next novella in this six book series. It was pretty good.

This new novella series from Kailin Gow definitely has me intrigued and can't wait for the next in the series.

The mysterious Peter Townshend has called Laura Taylor to his law offices. He says he can help her. Save her career before it even gets started. Laura was at the wrong place at the wrong time and all of her hard work will go down the drain without the help of Peter Townshend. The only thing is PT knows how to push her buttons, to make her hot and heavy... although she has never truly met him. Only his voice has been guiding her. Laura follows his instructions, but before she gets the chance to meet Peter face to face...her past is intruding and could put a stop to Peter's plan before it even gets started.

Hmm....let me start by saying that this really and honestly felt like reading the first chapter or two of a book and someone forgot to finish it or clean it up.

There is so much going on that really you have no idea what is going on. Its really scattered. Does it have potential to be seriously good? yes! but I guess i'll wait for more to maybe clear up and start putting the story together better.

Barely Legal did not draw me in. It also did not help that there are cliffhangers. I personally wish author's would stay away from doing this. The main character just kept going on and it came across as being self-centered. If you are in to cliffhangers, then this book is for you. This author has potential should she choose to write a complete novel.

Sorry but this book is a mess. Series or not, even a short story should be a story. It's like reading the 1st chapter of a a book with a whole lot of ideas but zero resolution.
