A chance encounter that ignites a primal passion...

My late-night drive down a lonely country road was supposed to be uneventful, just me and the winding country lanes. But when I accidentally hit a massive wolf with my car, I'm catapulted into a world of moonlight magic, dangerous secrets, and a captivating woman who awakens a wild hunger within me.

Naomi is unlike any person I've ever known. Fierce, protective, and hauntingly beautiful, she's not just a woman—she's a shifter, bound to a pack of sapphic wolves who hide in the shadows of my small Midwestern town. From the moment our eyes meet, I'm ensnared by an undeniable connection, a primal pull that defies all reason.

In this hidden society, love isn’t just a feeling—it’s a force of nature. As I fall for Naomi, I’m entangled in the secrets of her pack, the magic that binds them, and the enemies that threaten to tear us apart. Every stolen moment with Naomi is a delicate dance between burning passion and mortal peril. Can our love survive when the very force that brought me to this small town is determined to destroy us?

They say the moon controls the tides, but in Mayfield Meadows, it controls so much more.

What a ride

{slight spoiler}
Absolutely devoured this book. Kind of reminded me of an episode of Supernatural but here the werewolves win. And like an episode of Supernatural, I was never bored. Constant twists and turns. The conflicts within the main character are so relatable. The depictions of grief, heart wrenching.
Loved it and can’t wait for book 2!

Velvet Moon by Harmony Fuller – A Personal Review

Warning: This review is full of spoilers. If you haven’t read Velvet Moon by Harmony Fuller, consider this your heads-up.

When I picked up Velvet Moon, I expected sapphic werewolves—but I didn’t expect this much emotional chaos to come with them.

The story follows Dr. Olivia Harris, a vet trapped in a long-term abusive relationship with Brett—who isn’t just a bad boyfriend but a literal wolf hunter. Olivia’s life spirals into the supernatural after she accidentally hits a wolf with her car. The wolf, nicknamed Shadow (real name Naomi), is no ordinary animal—she’s part of a secret pack of all-female werewolves who’ve chosen to resist patriarchal control by running into the wild.

Let’s talk tropes:

I’m usually wary of stories where the protagonist starts questioning their sexuality only after meeting a hot woman. It’s a trope that can feel overdone. Olivia’s sudden shift from "anxious vet with a mediocre boyfriend" to "wolf-saving lesbian mate" definitely fits that pattern. But honestly? I still kept reading.

“Still, being left alone to do the dishes and drift away while I sucked his cock was usually the best outcome I could look forward to.”

This line stuck with me. It captures how abuse can warp your expectations of love and intimacy. Olivia isn’t just fighting for her life—she’s fighting to believe she deserves better.

But don’t get me wrong, this isn’t just about bad relationships. Velvet Moon dives into bigger themes: trauma, found family, survival, and pack loyalty. The female werewolves have formed a compound where they protect each other from the literal and figurative wolves of the outside world. Men like Brett are paid to hunt them down, returning them to lives of forced breeding or death. It’s dark, but it gives the narrative weight.

And then there’s the romance.

If you’re here for the steam? This book delivers. Naomi and Olivia go from first kisses to mirror-reflected sex positions pretty fast. There’s mate-biting, face-sitting, finger-fucking, and emotional declarations of love like this one:

“I will always want you. As long as the moon calls and I have a voice to answer, I will always sing your beauty every night and claim you as mine every full moon.”

It’s sweet, but also intense. Sometimes I wanted Olivia to slow down and take a breath. Then again, who am I to judge if a hot wolf woman brings you Thai food at 9 p.m.?

Plot highlights:

Baby wolf Luna is born, then kidnapped. Twice.

Sloane, a pack member, betrays them by helping the hunters.

Naomi takes a bullet meant for Olivia—cue the melodrama.

There’s a daring rescue mission in a haunted quarry (10/10 sapphic werewolf action sequence).

The final chapter ends with the pack searching for Luna… again.

By the end of the book, Olivia transforms—not just emotionally, but spiritually. She stops running from her trauma and joins the pack fully, even though she still has a lot to learn.

What I liked:

Sapphic werewolves resisting patriarchal packs? Yes, please.

The vet scenes felt surprisingly grounded (even if 27-year-old wolves are biologically questionable).

The moments of grief and found family (like Sage’s funeral) genuinely hit me.

What I didn’t like:

The queer awakening arc felt rushed and a bit cliché.

Olivia has a habit of running away from people who love her—even when her clinic is literally on fire.

The betrayal cycle (Sloane, then Jess) made the ending feel a bit repetitive.

Final Rating: 3.5/5
For the sapphic werewolves, emotional angst, and the chaotic romance, it was worth the read—but I’m stopping here. There’s a sequel, Blood Moon , but it’s from Jayne’s point of view, and honestly? I don’t feel compelled to continue.

I really liked this book. 4 and a half stars. I loved the setting and the characters. The pace is fast and captivating. One of the main characters was in a toxic relationship. I have a cousin that's also in one so I could understand Olivia's actions.
I liked the humor, and Naomi and Olivia had a very instant attraction. This book has so much potential. The only reason why it not 5 is because some areas felt rushed. Seeing a wolf turn into a human will have my eyes pop out and then I'll run for my life. But it's a great engaging read. And it sticks with you.

I enjoyed this book and pretty much finished in a day. It’s an easy read, nothing too strenuous. The overall plot with the Hunters is interesting and the ending definitely makes me need to pick up the next book. One thing that bugged me though is the silver poisoning. They treated Sage for heavy medals but she still died? Was it the dosage that caused it or because it was in her system so long…I thought she was going to be ok but then all of a sudden she wasn’t…?? I don’t know, we’ll see how the next book is.

3.5 star review

Hi! I´m a Spanish speaker that likes to read in English, so I´m sorry if I make grammatical errors in this review.

I liked the book. It has a great story, yet a little predictable. The story escalates quickly. I would have liked some more description in the narrative, more about sensations and feelings provoked by the events happening at the moment (especially in the sexual encounter the MCs had - it was great but it felt a bit rushed). Overall, I had a great time reading the book and will continue with the second of the series.

Wow

A great book. My favourite genre. Sapphic shifters.

What more can I say. Olivia is a vet, an loves animals. She literally runs into her fated mate one night and things escalate from there. She was in a hetero relationship at the time though, but he was a real a$$. Noami rescued Olivia from a drab and boring but dangerous life.

Loved it. I can't wait to read the next one.

I'm on a quest to read as many paranormal wlw stories this year as I can. That has sometimes left me feeling like I'm scraping the bottom of barrels I didn't know existed.

That is not the case here. I really really enjoyed this story. Some things are rushed and not explained as well as I would have liked, but it's a series so I'm sure it builds.

I am disappointed that the next book is a different couple. I want more Naomi.

3.5 rounded up to 4, will read the next.

While for me there was some minor writing finesse missing, this is a very readable book. Think the author sometimes falls into telling me something instead of showing me it. That said, it’s close, and I like the way they’re building this werewolf storyline out. Will read the next and go from there, oh btw the cliffhanger will smack ya face.

Absolutely loved it!

Took a chance in this and I am so glad I did! Werewolves have always been my favorite mystical creatures so this combined with a sapphic love story made it a no brained. You will love Olivia and Naomi’s love story but it also has intrigue and lots of action! 5 🌟

Gripping and heartbreaking 😔

Intense book 1 that ends on a cliffhanger. Very emotional with gutwretching trauma that left me shocked and in pieces. A 5🌟 for a mindblowing, painful and finding your mate. Spicy moments and finding yourself. Can't wait for book 2.

Queer Wolf… beginnings

The first book in the QueerWolf series was a great beginning. This book has hunter, a veterinarian, and werewolves. It is a fantasy series with action, romance and finding mates.

I knew what I was getting into. I wish I had used my better judgment. Velvet Moon feels like it was written by a man or someone who hasn’t ever interacted with a woman before.
I did finish it, though I started skimming at about 60% through. Big wattpad vibes.

I get that it’s really really difficult to leave a toxic relationship but Olivia drove me nuts sometimes.

Otherwise, the book was just kinda meh. I saw a lot of stuff coming so nothing came as a surprise.

I’m a sucker for this trope. Absolutely loved and can’t wait to see what happens next.

My only issue was I couldn’t follow one gender but maybe that was done purposefully.
