"There has never been anywhere quite like Ireland, and it seems unlikely that Ireland will ever become quite like anywhere else."

Perfect pre- and post-trip read.

Too broad and yet too specific. Not well composed. It was hard to read and therefore interest in it plummetted 1/2 way through. This could have been a MUCH more interesting and fun history book.

All that said, I learned about the history of Ireland a bit, and was able to piece together some of it in a straight line through history.

An easy read, being full of lovely pictures. The text is helpfully organized, brief, and informative.

Not a terribly in depth or compelling book about Irish history--it's really pretty simplistic in its coverage. I'll be looking for something with a little more depth.

For someone that wants a quick history of Ireland with an emphasis on literature and architecture, this 157 page book with lots of photographs and illustrations is a good read.
