Chloe Maine always delivers when it comes to novellas- I still think that her older ones are unmatched and can't be topped (her newer ones haven't hit the same)- but this was still a great way to start the Christmas reads (idc that it's November 💀).

All I want for a Christmas novella is a sweet talking daddy doing some defiling and drinking hot chocolate. I mean that didn't happen in the novella cause it sounds messy but the hero was definitely whispering filthy things, wrecking the heroine with his big festivus pole and hot chocolates were drunk.

The challenge of an insta love novella is always whether you buy the immediate connection and I bought it. I bought the way the characters were brought together through a dating app, starting  with that very first message he sent her. A 20 year old who's never been kissed and wanted an older man to show her the ropes? Feck yes, and the kiss was so scorching, the hero deleted the app because he got scared due to their age gap? Yasss. Then of course they ended up chance meeting and she is his daughter's friend. Delicious.

The throuple from Cabin Mates are also in this, one of the men is the hero's brother and he's got the best comedic lines. If you fancy some strangers in the cabin situation, check that out too to give this some texture.

At first I felt a little sorry for the daughter/friend, who everyone sort of dismissed, but then I remembered she bought those ghastly-sounding Christmas pajamas for everyone, and my sympathy vanished. Daddy sounds hot otherwise, but those pajamas would've sent me running off into the blizzard.

Sometimes I wonder – how did I end up here? I know myself well enough by now to know that “Daddy kink” is not my jam. I just know this. It’s personal, that’s is. But I really enjoy @ChloeMaine (especially when she writes as @AinsleyBooth) and I thought I would give this spicy holiday novella a try. All of the troupes I was excited about – single dad, best friend’s dad, age gap, second chance, instalove, being quiet in the middle of the night. But for me, I don’t like the age gap when the girl is 19 or 20 – I need her to be a little bit older. But, this is something that @ChloeMaine writes often, and I still decide to give it a try, ha! I did love them sneaking around, and I did love that she was a virgin. I love @ChloeMaine’s writing style, which is why I gobbled this little nugget up. But I will be honest – comparatively, I have to rank this low, because there are other spicy holiday novellas that I just love better. But will that stop me from reading more of them? Probably not. I have an addiction, what can I say, ha!

This novella is dual POV, well written, and a funny, sweet and steamy, contemporary Christmas, age-gap, friend’s father romance. I enjoyed Cara’s determination to pursue the man she was genuinely interested in. I enjoyed Hunter’s consideration and his concern about not taking advantage. I appreciated that they considered Hunter’s daughter concerns but didn’t allow those to dictate relationship progress. I enjoyed the cameo from the leads of Cabin Mates, as Hunter’s half brother and his spouses. I enjoyed the steamy intimate moments and the playfulness.

I’m a huge fan of Chloe Maine and this short and spicy holiday read hot the spot.

It’s a best friends dad, age gap read that was low angst for the taboo nature of the book which I think is perfect if you want a short fluffy read for the holiday season.

There was some mention of the other characters from her conception ridge and while it starred the character for her Cabin Mates book it didn’t make it hard to follow along so you don’t have to read the other books i the series to get into this one.

Lovely bedtime story

This story surprised me. The blurb caught my attention and I had to find out how Cara met Hunter. What a sweet meeting, that turned totally hot. But what really surprised me was I actually enjoyed the young adult aspect of the story. That can be very hit or miss for me. This one was a hit. Next surprise, the "naughty secret" didn't upset like this kind of secret can. I was able to roll with it and, continue to enjoy the story. Other than being left to wonder why Hunter was a single dad, this was a fun bedtime story. Pleasant dreams.

This is a sweet and hot story about finding love when you last expect it. When Cara goes to her friend’s home for Christmas, she never expected t0 see the man who rocked her world and then ghosted her. Hunter is just as surprised and now the chaos has begun.
The sparks fly between Cara and Hunter. It was interesting to see how their relationship takes shape. The storyline is cute and there is a nice mix of angst and romance. It moves at a fast pace and has some heat to it. I liked seeing the interactions between the whole family and the fun that they share.

This book is peak Chloe Maine perfection and will be added to my other two favorites: Santa's baby, and above the shop. If you haven't read Cabin Mates, you should go do that now, but ohhhh, there's Father of the Bride too, and yeah, ok, this ones going in my absolute favorite collection. Sorry, my review is all over the place. This book was just the best of the best that Chloe Maine does. Loved everything about it. All the stars, no notes, perfection.
