Jewel E. Ann is an amazing writer. I’ve read many of her books and most of them I’ve enjoyed. I really wanted to love this one. I mean, it has a vegan hero!!! I was so excited to read it. The first half, it just didn’t work for me at all. I almost DNF’d it many times, but I’m glad I hung in there. I ended up really enjoying the last half.

Avery Montgomery is going through a rough time, so she drives to see her dad. She’s dog sitting her sister’s dog, so she brings him along. As soon as she gets to her dads, her car goes out and she’s completely desperate. Jake Matthews is friends with her dad’s fiancé and is going out west to California. Doing his friend a favor, he offers to take the diva Avery with him.

This road trip is a hot mess. These two couldn’t be more opposite if they tried. They don’t get along, at all. Jake is very judgmental when it comes to Avery and Avery straight up got on my nerves at the start. Even though these two pretty much hate each other, their attraction can’t be denied.
“I’m sleeping with the enemy,”

After about the half way point, I feel like these two really started to get each other. Their enemies to lovers story line got more tolerable for me. I did end up liking both of them a lot and there was a moment that I cried like a baby. Though it was mostly fun, it did have some majorly emotional scenes.

Even though this one was a little rocky for me, by the end I liked it a lot. I’m happy I stuck it out and finished because I loved the way it all came together. Love really can conquer all and I LOVE the message of accepting your partner for who they are. You love the whole person, not just the parts you like or find worthy. How powerful is that?! If you’re looking for a rom-com that’s a bit angsty at times and very much opposites attract, pick this one up!!
“I love you. You think love is not enough, but it’s everything. It’s all encompassing.”

It was my hardest decision to give stars to this book. Because this is my sixth book of Jewel E. Ann. I adore her writing, her wits, her imagination. If she even had wrote a shopping list, I’d have been devotedly read it. Not think for a second.😃😃😃
But there is a big challenge for this novel. There was an annoying heroine and obnoxious hero treats her like a doormat( of course in the middle of book, his attitude has changed but I’m not still a big fan any one of them)
We see Avery before at Undeniably You. Sydney’s spoiled sister. And now she’s back and has her own book!
Jake’s emotional baggage and his hateful thoughts about arm candies ( or spoiled brats or posh self centered ladies) are not reliable enough for me! And sorry but I couldn’t empathize Avery! If she may be a character like Legally Blonde Elle Woods meets Cher( Alicia Silverstone’s character from Clueless) kinda girl, I could show more efforts to love her.
These are the bad things about this book!
But there are good factors push me raise my points which are:
- Seeing Sydney and Lautner’s HEA! I adore Lautner from Undeniably You! (Avery thinks Jake is his Lautner, I say no way! )
- We see Addy and Quinn from Holding You series.
- This book has so much funny dialogues, I laughed out loud so much and disturbed my neighbors! Jewel Ann has not quirky sense of humor. She is unique and smart.
- Jake’s words define his love to Avery which are : “ I love you like an acoustic song. The words mean more. The emotions are magnified. It’s like the stars...during the day we don’t see them, but at night when the world around us feels stripped and bare, they shine so brightly. I’ve never seen anything as beautiful as you are in this very moment. Our love is... flawed but perfect.”
This book is not perfect but I couldn’t put it down even I hate the characters, I enjoyed their journey, the sarcastic tone of writing. Maybe it’s not tear jerking, heart wrenching book but it’s funny, it’s good written and some parts are really panty-scorching. As a devoted reader I still enjoy Jewel E. Ann’s writing.

Sigh.

A lot of people won't like this book.

The heroine is vain, selfish, spoiled, immature, insecure, needy and fake.

It’s irritating as hell.

BUT.

J. E. Ann made her that way on purpose. There is a reason for this. There is a lesson to be learned.

Unlike other immature and annoying heroines out there who are portrayed as awesome but are not. Far from it.

The main theme of this story is learning about oneself and growing as a person. People will either love it or hate it. I liked it a lot, especially the last third of the book and that freaking perfect ending.

Thank you J. E. Ann for the pool guy.

I almost lost my shit when I realized the heroine was Sydney's sister (from Undeniably You).

Trigger warning:

I have quite the contradicting feelings about this book. There were times I laughed out loud and enjoyed myself but sadly, there were also times the characters made me mad, frustrated and annoyed.

The book is a combination of the good and the bad as far as I am concerned.

Actually, this book had the potential of being a new “Hating Game” for me; I got that vibe from it at the beginning but the hero and heroine in "The Hating Game" are both awesome, which makes that book epic whereas here, the characters, especially the obnoxious and judgmental hero, kills the beauty of this book.

*********************************************

This is going to be a long review with my never-ending rant about certain issues; so to summarize basic points at the beginning might be a good idea.

Writing: Dual point of view

Length: 267 pages

Safety: No cheating – quite safe

Hero: Zero points – a judgmental as*hole, a cruel and manipulative pig, a bully

Heroine: 3 points - Partly shallow and selfish and maybe a bit vain at the beginning but she changes and becomes a much better person with less flaws in the end. She finds her real self and recognizes her self-worth. Still, even when she is shallow, from page one, she is one sweet soul and her funny way of telling things makes the book readable.

Romance: 2 points

Steam: 2 points

*********************************************

Now, I will talk a lot about this book because I need to get it all out of my chest so from now on, there may be some spoilers – be forewarned.

This is a book that has different effects on each reader. Some readers hated the heroine and loved the hero; and some readers hated the hero, but liked the heroine.

I am one of those who hated the hero and liked the heroine.

***

Avery, the heroine of this book appears to be a shallow and vain person at the beginning of the book, who is a bit obsessed with appearances and materialistic things. However, from page 1, I loved her because the way she told her story made me feel that there was more depth to her character than what we saw on the surface. Plus, she was funny… so very funny!

The more I read, the more I liked Avery, despite all her flaws. She is a sweet soul as far as I am concerned. She has just lost her way and all her hopes of finding “The One” so she settles for materialistic things in life to make herself happy.

She is in fact a very intelligent woman. She just doesn't use her brain much :) And she makes dumb choices when it comes to men and she has either been cheated on or abandoned by those men.

Now, she is with a guy 20 years older than her and they are planning to get married.

In her own words, this is the summary of her romantic life:

“Anthony Bianchi Jr. tastes like money, and he treats me like a queen.
I’ve tried the sweet nice-guy route—the jock, the teacher, the aspiring actor, the musician. I’ve tried the bad-boy route—the tattoo artist, the wannabe rock star, the guy who always carried a gun but couldn’t tell me why. They are all cheaters with no direction and clueless when it comes to knowing how to treat a woman.”

So she thinks that Antony treats her well with all the gifts he spoils her with. Unfortunately, soon she realizes that even that old guy is a cheater and he is maybe the worst of all cheaters. She cannot believe her eyes when she discovers what a scumbag he is!

“I can’t even feel the pain in my hand at the moment. I can’t feel anything. Disbelief is a long-lasting shot of anesthetic.

Therefore, feeling desperate and once again all alone, Avery leaves his house and goes to her dad’s for some support but she finds that he is moving to another city to get married to a woman he has met online.

From then on, things spiral out of its way and in a week or so, she finds that the older guy she was supposed to marry but she left because he cheated on her cleaned her bank account, blocked her credit cards and basically left her with nothing. Her car also dies and she has no means of going back to L.A. from Milwaukee. Planes are out of option with the dog she has to take back to her sister. So she needs a car and by some twisted fate, the man who tolerates her the least becomes the one who will take her back to L.A. The thing is he is going to L.A but he will camp on his way whenever he wants. That’s his routine every time he goes to his other shop in L.A. and Avery, being without other options, agrees to go with him even though she is not keen on camping and sleeping in tents.

If you ask me, it was a stupid decision for both sides. I mean no one can make me agree to go on a trip with someone I despise and no one can make me agree to go on a camping trip during which I will sleep in tents. I am a girl who can only stay at hotels, too.

Therefore, the whole topic - "Road Trip with a guy who hates you and who will make it a hell for you" is ridiculous for me. Why did they both accept it? He doesn't like her, she doesn't like camping! So why agree??? Still a mystery to me. Some other solution could have been found… Whatever…

“So how long are you staying in Milwaukee?”
“Just until I figure out how to get back to L.A. with my sister’s dog. My car took its last breath. Flying isn’t an option. And my dad refuses to let me drive by myself. I already tried closing my eyes and snapping my fingers three times, but it didn’t work. I’m still here.”

***

“Okay, Princess, I’ll take you to L.A., but your crown won’t make it there in one piece.”
“Tiara.”
“What?”
“You implied I’m a princess…” I shrug, keeping my head bowed “…which is cool. What woman wouldn’t want to be a princess? But then you insinuated I have a crown, which would be incorrect because only kings and queens wear crowns. Princesses wear tiaras.”
His hands ball into fists, still propped up on the counter. I risk a glance up, my lips quivering into a nervous smile.
“So either you think I’m actually a queen or you must mean my tiara will not make it to L.A. in one piece. Which…” I rub my lips together to hide my nerves “…is not going to be an issue since I left my tiara at home. I usually only take it on girl getaways.”

***

I’ve wanted to wrap my hands around her neck and strangle the diva out of her, but I can also say it’s been awhile since I’ve smiled like I just did in the creek with her...

*********************************************

Avery symbolizes everything Jake hates and from her make-up to her designer dresses, he makes fun of everything about her and he really is a judgmental as*hole. He acts as if it is the biggest burden in the world to take her to L.A. in his truck so he is just mean.

You may not like a person but that doesn’t give you the right to treat them so very cruelly but Jake is the king of the “cruel”. He doesn’t help her carry her suitcase, or he doesn’t offer from the food he eats. He showers at his friend’s house but he makes her wash herself in the cold river. He treats her like a piece of sh*t. He is like the 13-14 year old bullies at high school.

The best part of all this ridiculous situation was how Avery responded to his cruel self. She sometimes openly asked him why he was being so cruel to her and sometimes she gave as good as she got. She made him suffer as much as he made her suffer. “Atta girl”, I said most of the time 😊

“Why are you so mean to me?”
“Mean? You think I’m mean?”
“I don’t think chasing me in a grocery store parking lot, calling me a bitch, ruining my shirt, saying I’m bad at sex, and then teasing me about it is exactly what I’d call nice.”
My lips twist to the side while I inspect this insecure mess of a woman before me. “Maybe I’m just flirting with you.”
“That’s not flirting.”

See? The mature adult guy in this story thinks he is flirting by being mean to her…
OMG! Really? How f*cking more stupid could it be?

*********************************************

Jake continuously makes humiliating comments about her, making fun of how much she cares about her appearance, the clothes, her hair and make-up etc. One of those times, Avery questions him about his tattoos, which can be regarded as his “make-up”. Atta girl” 😊

“S’up, Princess?”
She rubs her lips together, focusing on her reflection in the visor mirror while capping her lip gloss. “Freshening up.”
“For what?”
“For getting out. By the way, where are we going?” She uncaps a tube of mascara.
No. No, no, no … I grab it from her hands, shove it back in her makeup bag, and toss the makeup bag into her fancy purse. “We’re grabbing lunch before setting up camp. Nobody here cares about the color of your lips or the length of your lashes. Get out.”
Flipping the visor up, she turns toward me, still rubbing her lips together. Her gaze scans up and down my body, pausing an extra few seconds on my arms. “Funny … you seem to feel the need to mark your skin—to express yourself outwardly to the world. Yet I’m a princess for wanting to fix my makeup?”

I hated the hero. I so much hated Jake. The way he talked to Avery, the way he treated her… He calls her a “Diva bitch” for God’s sake!

I cannot express how horrible of a hero he is. What was Ms Ann thinking creating such a horrible hero?!

You should just read and see but let me give some more examples.

Diva Bitch hasn’t taken a single deep breath over the course of our journey. However, she hasn’t missed one opportunity to whine about the scuff marks on her toe-mangling shoes or the damage to her hair from the hard water at the campgrounds and the wind.

“Jake …” She whines again. It’s too much to handle.
“It’s a fucking blister, you materialistic, chronically pessimistic, vain, grouchy, dog-hating, bit—”
Okay, I may have already lost my sense of humor. My best guesstimate … it scattered in the wind a few miles back when Avery threw her tantrum over me rolling down the windows, adding even more irreparable damage to her hair.
“Bitch? Were you about to call me a bitch?”
She’s not stupid. I get it. Flaunting her looks instead of her intelligence has probably suited her needs over the years. Until now …

***

I grit my teeth, fisting my hands to keep them from encircling her neck.

*********************************************

I was always Team Avery all along the book. To say that I loved the shallow woman with materialistic urges more than the hero must say something about the hero, I guess!

My heart has been broken too many times to count. I’m not sure it’s really a heart anymore—just a fleshy doormat.
Things make me feel good. Not everyone gets the same happily ever after. Maybe mine is an empty bed but a closet full of shoes and handbags. So what?
I grew up without my mother—she died. My father is a preacher. That fueled my rebellion from an early age. I hated boundaries, laws, and scriptures that made me feel guilty for the thoughts I couldn’t control.

*********************************************

I loved Avery up until she gave in to her attraction to the bully. When she let him touch her, I was pissed at her, too.

Jake doesn’t deserve anything or anyone good if you ask me.

Here’s another adorable comment from the hero after he has given her first orgasm:

“Avery, Avery, Avery … I ruined your shirt, called you a bitch, and suggested you’re shit at sex. Yet, in the next breath I had two fingers shoved in your … vagina. ”
Heat crawls up her neck. I’m not a jerk. Really, I’m not. But Avery is one messed-up chick, and I feel like putting her in her place isn’t a bad thing.

***

“I’m sleeping with the enemy,” she mumbles into my neck, her naked body covering mine.
“I’m the enemy?”
“Yes.” She lifts her head and hands me a pathetic frown. “You’re the school bully who calls me names, pulls my hair, snaps my bra, then gives me chocolate. And I’m the gullible girl who lets said school bully feel me up because I like chocolate.”

***

“It’s fine, Jake. You f*cked me good today. Hope that helped you work out some of your issues. I know I figured some shit out today. My days of trusting men are over. At least my fancy bags and expensive shoes make me look good. Men are so much worse than anything materialistic. You say the right things for the wrong reasons. You lie to get what you want. You make me look bad. You make me feel bad. There’s nothing wrong with my taste in fashion. It’s my taste in men that’s f*cked-up.”

***

Her legs tighten around my waist as I pick up the pace. What is she doing to me? When did my despise morph into such an uncontrollable need? I feel like a horny teenager possessed with the need to get off all day long.

***

“She’s stereotypical and completely blindsiding at the same time. It’s messing with my head.”

*********************************************

The sex scenes of Jake and Avery were just not my cuppa.

As I said I am a girl who can stay at hotels, not in tents. I am also a girl who cares about hygiene, who needs toilets with soap and water as well as toilet paper. I need rooms with a shower.

So here in this book, they go jogging, use toilets where there are no water/soap or toilet paper and Avery feels so very dirty; but then, he goes down on her or they have sex all sweaty and dirty. Nope, not my cuppa - not sexy at all. Just cringe-worthy!

And what begins as a hate-f*ck was also not my jam. And the fact that they did not use protection was the icing on the cake!

*********************************************

In order to change Avery and make her a better person, Jake manipulates her, uses psychological and emotional abuse and he is just mean and cruel to her – all in the name of “trying to fix her”.

What actually crawls up his as* and makes him act so mean is the fact that, although Avery symbolizes many things that he hates in a woman, she is also a really adorable creature, a beautiful and a sexy one and he feels extremely attracted to her and he hates himself for his feelings, thus, he takes out his anger on her.

*********************************************

Avery and Jake are one f*cked-up couple that doesn’t make much sense. After all the bullying, there is a short period of time during which they are good to each other until it all goes to hell once again.

”It makes no sense for you to want me.”
He rubs his lips together, nodding slowly. “True.”

“Maybe the attraction is that nothing about it makes sense. Who chases the familiar? Who stays up all night solving mysteries that have already been solved?”
“Have you lost sleep over trying to solve this attraction?”
“So much,” he whispers in my ear. “Your incessant fidgeting with your hair, your nails, your clothes, your lipstick … it drives me fucking crazy.” I stiffen in defense, and he squeezes me harder as if his arms are saying “wait.” “But … for a mysterious reason, I find myself equally mesmerized by it.”

***

Dead. She just buried me. Game over. Avery Montgomery is officially out of my league.

***

If I lie, we will never be real. And I don’t want the lies. I want love. Real. Honest. Soul-consuming. Naked love.

*********************************************

In the last quarter of the book, something happens and their short-lived passionate love is ruined by Jake’s selfish and cruel comments - especially calling her a “whore” and making her feel like one in a situation she didn’t deserve it. He blames her for being a home-wrecker whereas she never knew the guy was married at all. The douche-bag lied to her and his wife both.

Maybe we’ve come full circle. He hated me when we left Milwaukee. I’ve gone from a bitch to a whore.

Funny, I just wanted to be the smile on his face.
The object of his affection.
I wanted to be the part of his life that felt utterly undefinable yet completely impossible to live without.

We don’t always get what we want.

***

I fell in love with a man I don’t really know. And he fell in love with the version of me he created. Now our bubble no longer exists, and we are nothing.

*********************************************

Also, I loved that Avery didn’t make it easy and made Jake work for it before she took him back. He had to grovel a lot. She was now a changed woman – all the pain she suffered maybe broke her but it also made her stronger and she also finally recognized her self worth and decided that she would never again allow anyone to treat her like a piece of sh*t.

My point is, Jake treating me like every girl he’s ever hated makes him like every asshole I’ve had the displeasure of dating. I’m not going to train him to be worthy of me. That’s bullshit. I’m worthy of a good man. A good, honest, loving man. A man who really sees me, even if I don’t see myself, even if it’s not always a beautiful sight … he loves me. And I thought that was Jake, but it wasn’t. Jake didn’t see me. He saw what he wanted to see to justify his attraction to me. I will never live up to his expectations of me. It’s too exhausting. It’s … too much.”

***

“I do love him. I just need to love myself more—in an emotional, self-preservation way.

***

“Anthony wants dinner. You want twenty minutes. You know what I want?”
Her eyebrows inch up her forehead. I shake my head slowly, afraid to make any sudden movement around her.
“No?” Her head cocks to the side. “Then you don’t deserve twenty minutes.”

I thought they would be back again after his heart-felt groveling. I thought she would finally forgive her (although I didn’t but well, she would, eventually) and while I was waiting for it to end like this, the writer had to go and throw an unplanned pregnancy trope to this mix and ruin it all for me.

I will never understand why people have unprotected sex with people who they have just met. And Ms. Ann, was it really necessary to add this silly situation to the mix? Did it make the story better? Nope, not for me! But maybe it will make some other readers happy.

Well, in the epilogue, after 5 years of parenting the lots of children they have made, they get their first week of freedom without children… Yayyyy. That’s what I call romance! NOT!!!!

*********************************************

All in all, as I said at the beginning, the book had lots of good parts but the bad parts outweighed those fun and emotional bits that I enjoyed. Mainly, the hero Jake and then, some stupid events which annoyed me made me dislike the book in general.

Ms. Ann writes skillfully. Whatever she writes, it shows how talented a writer she is. She is a master of words. If only she would write more tolerable characters.

I may not read from her ever again because although I adore her writing, the characters she creates are not appealing to me most of the time.

”I love you like an acoustic song. The words mean more. The emotions are magnified. It’s like the stars…during the day we don’t see them, but at night when the world around us feels stripped and bare, they shine so brightly.”
I’ve never seen anything as beautiful as you are in this very moment. Our love is…flawed but perfect.

I honestly feel like a broken record whenever I review one of Jewel E. Ann’s books. She is truly one of the most talented authors out there today. I have read all of her books and have loved all of them. She doesn’t seem to have it in her to write a terrible story. I have several authors who I hold with high regard and even they have written a few bombs, but not Jewel.

NAKED LOVE is the perfect example of an enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy. It was incredibly steamy, hysterically funny, and the plot was amazing. Take two people who are complete opposites in every way and force them to go on a road trip cross country, with a crazy but loveable dog, and you are sure to have yourself one wildly entertaining book!

If you have never read any of Jewel’s books before, I highly recommend that you make every effort to set aside some time to get to them. The main couple in this book are from a couple of stories Jewel wrote back in 2014-- ”UNDENIABLY YOU” and the ”HOLDING YOU” series. I promise you, these are books you will be so happy that you read. I have to warn that they are off the charts angsty and you will be needing plenty of alcohol to numb the pain but hang in there, the HEA’s are worth it!!!

Jake is a sexy ex MMA fighter turned Vegan chef, who has a generous heart but also despises people who come off as materialistic and fake. Avery is a beautiful young woman, who has made some poor life choices and now finds her world turned upside down. She loves the finer things, is very much a girly girl and has used her looks to get what she wants from her ex-boyfriends. These two are like oil and vinegar, but their chemistry is so hot, it's downright explosive. They know how to push each other’s buttons but ultimately they help each other strive to be better versions of themselves.

It’s so very hard not to fall madly in love with Jake. Jewel has the knack for creating some of the most fantastic and swoon-worthy book boyfriends. My ultimate favorite, Lautner, makes an appearance which was the icing on an already delicious cake.

Avery was very hard to like in the beginning because she comes off as being superficial and only into her appearance and designer clothes, but you have to be patient when you are reading one of Jewel’s books. Her characters tend to be flawed but eventually, when she finally peels back their layers, you see the beauty that is within them and that’s what happens with Avery.

I could write a novel about my feelings about this book and yet I still think I wouldn’t be able to write a review that is worthy of this story. I hope that if anything I convinced one person who’s never read any of Jewel’s books, to pick this one up and give her a chance.

Here are my overall ratings:

Hero: 5
Heroine: 4.5
Plot: 5+++
Angst: 5+++
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

FUN with Jewel E. Ann.
Smiled 😁, laughed 😄, almost cried 😭 this was a home run for me.❤

If this is Jewel's idea of a romantic-comedy, you can sign me up every time.
After the emotional and extremely tough week that I personally experienced this book was exactly what I needed to lift up my spirits and for that I am enormously thankful to this author.

Avery and Jake really have to be the two most unlikely strangers that you can ever imagine taking a cross-country road trip together but such is fate and circumstances.
Avery Montgomery is a fashionista and preacher’s daughter and a total diva to boot.
Jake Matthews is a tattooed ex MMA fighter and Vegan chef, he is also a diva hater but when Avery finds herself in need of a ride home from Milwaukee to Los Angeles for herself and her sister's elderly dog (a Weimaraner named Swarley) Jake agrees to let her tag along on his annual but primitive trek to the West Coast.
Ultimately this turns out to be a journey of self discovery, especially for Avery but boy are there some fireworks and laughs along the way as well as a little heartbreak and sadness (animal lovers you are forewarned).

Best thing about this book for me was Avery's gradual transformation as the road trip progressed. I loved all the characters and the sense of family closeness, especially the relationship between Avery and her sister Sydney.

This book will forever remind me of my beautiful baby Jack who passed on 02/26/2019.

How is it possible to feel completely broken and yet stronger than ever at the same time?

So I wasn’t looking for this book, but I downloaded it and read it and I’m so glad that I did.

Road trip. Sort of enemies to lovers. Two people who don’t seem to fit together, but also fit together oh so well. Avery’s a princess on the outside, and Jake is a vegan (slang for a male body part that begins with d and ends with ick) cheese on the outside. They both judge each other from the start but during their road trip they see that there is more to each other.

This book has tie ins from some of the authors other books, and sadly I’ve only read one of them, but it was still nice to see old characters from that book. And the book or books I didn’t read I still got the vibes and now I’m interested in reading them!

All in all this was a great contemporary romance read.

Five Awesome Stars *****

Surprise new release by author Jewel E. Ann! If you read Undeniably You, this new book, you are going to LOVE!!!! Because the story is about Sydney’s sister, Avery.

Avery is a bit (or a lot) of a Diva. She’s had terrible luck in love but recently things have been looking up for her after she started dating an older millionaire. Her rich boyfriend bought Avery her own spa and spoils her to no end. But unfortunately for Avery, her “prince charming “ turned out to be just like any other ex; a liar and a cheater. Deflated, disappointed and broke, Avery leaves town with her sister’s dog, Swarley (remember him???) to her dad’s house looking for some family support, since her sister is traveling.

More bad news for Avery; her Father is getting married to a much younger woman, that she’s never even met. Her dad sold his house and is moving to another state to be with his new wife and Avery is coming along to check things out. Turns out her new stepmom to be is actually great, so Avery has to go back to LA to sort her life and she’s catching a ride with a gorgeous, vegetarian, restaurant owner who is taking her along his camping trip, a favor to her Dad’s new wife.

Jake and Avery hate each other on sight. But the attraction is also very, very strong, even if they don’t want to admit it. So on this journey, they go, and along the way, they will find many things, including themselves.

This story is a sort of enemies to lovers. I loved the characters banter, and the plot was hilarious and very entertaining. I wasn’t a big fan of Avery in the beginning but slowly she won my heart. It was really endearing to read about her struggles and ultimately to experience her growth. Very cool book, I have no doubt that anyone who read it will have a grand time.

***4.5 stars***

What I admire about Jewel E. Ann and her storytelling is no matter how different certain characters are from who I am as a person, I can always in some way relate and understand where they’re coming from. Avery is so different from who I am but I had so much fun in her and Jake’s company.
She doesn’t hide or shy away from who she is and what she enjoys in life. In this case materialistic things and her appearance.

The evolution or journey Avery goes through thanks to Jake was beautiful and hilarious storytelling. I laughed my ass off numerous times. Jake and Avery are opposites and their chemistry feeds off of it in spades. I was just waiting for the sparks to explode. Jake is such a good guy with secrets of his own and he truly sees the true and real Avery. She needed to see and accept that person too as difficult as it was.
Avery’s sister Sydney and her man Lautner, YAY, was there and my Undeniably You heart was ecstatic. Just being in the company of the Montgomery Family was fantastic.
Naked Love is a fabulous, humorous and heartwarming romantic comedy with such a honest message. Another gem from Jewel E. Ann

I honestly just don’t understand this book. She’s a raging bitch. He’s a total asshole. They obviously hate each other. Why are they playing sexy time? It’s not even hate fucking. It’s only pure confusion.

I give up!

Favorite Quotes:

I admit it—if only to myself—I, Avery Montgomery, am a wuss. I’ve canceled clients because of an irritated hangnail. Menstrual cramps leave me bedridden for twenty-four hours. And I’m one of those patients who require nitrous oxide just to get my teeth cleaned. It’s genetic. There has to be a low pain tolerance gene.

Yeah, all men are lying, cheating, monkey-spanking dick cheese.

My life is a game of limbo—how low can I go?

The list of reasons why he deserves to come close to dying is so long, I can’t even see the end of it with binoculars, but …when I’m not hating Jake, I kinda like him.

Jake Matthews just knocked on the window to my soul and whispered, “I see you.” Not the million imperfections I see in the mirror.

Sometimes no words are the best words.

I’m going to Hell. But that’s not a newsflash.

My Review:

Jewel E. Ann is a wily trickster. I was gleefully tripping through what I thought was a delightfully steamy, cleverly written, and wryly insightful romantic comedy that had me smirking and snorting with mirth, and then boom, she broke my heart. And just like that, I was stunned. Then I was thunderstruck with an epiphany. I realized this cagey author had deftly layered poignant details into her narrative with ninja-like stealth, all the while her artfully penned storylines had been ironically amusing while my heart was being squeezed with all the feels. All of them.

Jewel E. Ann has cunningly crafted a tale around the main character of Avery, who was comically entertaining but not at all admirable or initially likable. Had I been trapped on a cross-country road trip with the shallow, vain, self-possessed, and quirkily high-maintenance diva Avery, I would most likely have smacked her a few times before reaching our destination, all right, probably more than a few… Yet this talented wordsmith had me feeling torn up over her distress – the only explanation I can come up with is word voodoo… And lucky for us, Jewel E. Ann obviously has a strong dose of it. I have added her entire backlist to my TBR as I covet all her clever words.

“My parents like you. I like you. We could be such a great team.” diyor.
“You like the lifestyle, Avery. Don’t pretend you don’t. You’ll get everything you could ever possibly want—kids, mansions, cars, yachts, jets, a closet bigger than your entire apartment filled with the most expensive clothes …”
Avery'de merak ediyor tabi “And what do you get?” diye soruyor.
“My angel.” diyor Anthony
“Which one?”
“All of them. But you will always be my favorite—the chosen one. My wife. Mother of my children. Queen of my empire.”

evet. diyor bunu. lkfjg Avery'de çekip geliyor. İşlettiği masaj salonu vardı herhalde, onu kendisine vermesini istiyor Anthony'den. Anthony vermiyor :p

Somewhere between her bitching about the temperature in the tent and the lumpy ground, I fall asleep.
By six the next morning, she’s snoring loud enough to wake every animal within a five-mile radius. Naturally, I take a video of it with my phone.

Tutuyorum şu an kendimi.
Avery'nin sinirini bozması, Jake'in çıldırışları, içinden kendini sakinleştirmeye çalışmaları falan çoook hoş. Çoğu zaman da Avery'yi bilerek sinirlendirmesi, üstüne gitmesi de cabası dlkjf Most of the time I want to wrap my hands around her neck and shake, but there have been moments, like now, that I find myself intrigued, mildly entertained by her remarks.

Bi'de şu çok hoştu, baya hoştu hatta dslkfj Anthony'yle ilişkisi hakkında konuşurken ya da birisi ne olduğunu sorduğunda Avery “He lied to me. Said he didn’t like chocolate.” diyordu ldfkgj

Jake'in tişörtleri güzeldi ama en güzeli üstünde Karma is Like 69, You Get What You Give yazandı.

“What is it?” Planting my hands on my hips, I glare down at her, daring her to say one fucking word about her feet.
“We’ve been walking for miles. How much farther do we have to go?”
“Another mile or so. Why?” My eyebrows lift.
Say it, Princess. I dare you.
“I’m …” Her lips curl between her teeth.
“You’re what?”
“Hungry and thirsty. I didn’t bring water with me.”
Her feet are streaked in red marks from rocks and brush scratching them, and I’m certain the area between her first and second toes has to be raw. But … she’s hungry and thirsty.

ya.. neden bu kadar güzeldi? ağlamak istiyorum.

    I stop.
She stumbles over my feet.
With my free arm, I catch her, holding her to my chest.
She pants, eyes wild with adrenaline and maybe a little fear. “Don’t hurt me,” she whispers.
I flinch. Has someone hurt her? Physically hurt her?
Searching her eyes, I look for the answer. I don’t see it.
“I might kill you, Avery. But I won’t hurt you.”

gülmekten okuyamadığım iki sahne oldu... cidden ama şekilden şekle girdim okurken ldkjf ağzım açık okudum, çıldırdım, öldüm....... birisi gecenin bi' saati Avery'nin telefonunu şarjı bittiği için arabanın anahtarını bulmak için Jake'i çağırmasıyla başlıyor. Jake uyanmıyor lkjg Avery'de çantayı karıştırıyor, bi' ara telefon ışığını Jake'in ayaklarına tutuyor ve Not fair. What the heck, God? Why would you give a guy such perfect feet? Jackass Jake must use an expensive foot cream.
I roll my eyes at myself. What is this? The beginning of a foot fetish? Therapy of some sort might be in my future.
diye düşünüyor lkfdgj daha sonra Jake'in çantasını karıştırırken güzel bir koku geliyor, Oh … that’s nice. Son of a bitch! Sexy—uh—I mean, soft feet and amazing detergent.
Eat the shiny red apple, Eve …
I’m not going to eat his shirt, but I indulge in one more sniff before—
diyerek kokuyla sarhoş olurken, zaten uyanık olan (uyuyor numarası yapan) Jake gelip “Why are you smelling my underwear?” demiyor mu flkjgklfjgdg Ç I L D I R D I M!! NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! don mu? hayııııııııır.

Yalnız, Jake'in Avery'nin kulağına yaklaşıp 'give me my underwear' diye fısıldadığı yerde kendimi yere attım okurken flkşlkgdfg

“How old are you?”
“Five? Are you five, Avery?” ldkjflkjf harika bi' sahneydi. H A R İ K A. yani düşünün kardeşime anlattım, o bile kahkaha attı.
Bu sahneden sonra işte markettelerken Avery bi' tişört görüyor üstünde Life is short and so is your penis. yazıyor.

"Were you awake when I was getting dressed?”
“Of course.” He covers his yawn with his fist.
“You just like to play dead?”
“It’s better than being dead.”

ya ben bu kadar ne anlattım? kitabın yarısı bile değildi bu anlattıklarım ve karakterlerim azaldı eöhğüğh aşık olma kısımlarını, Avery'nin Jake'i mantarla zehirlediği yeri, Avery'nin onu zehirlediğini öğrenen Jake'in Avery'yi kuaföre götürüp kısa saçlarına taktığı ve kamp yüzünden bakımsız kalıp dökülmeye başlayan çıtçıtlarını hallettmelerini sağladığı, Avery'nin ağladığı yerleri falan anlatamicam. Sonra Jake'in efsane 'I love You' sahnesini de anlatamicam. 'Come closer.' dediği yeri yani. Jake'in orada söylediklerini, ayrılıklarını falan anlatamayacağım için şu an çok üzgünüm. Bu arada ayrı oldukları halde kilisede Avery'nin ağladığını gören Jake'in ayrı oldukları ha..

karakter bitt..

off. karakter fazla geldi diye iki kere okudum şeyi çıktı...
description
bir kısmı sildim mecburen.. yazamamıştım bak devamını getireyim bari clkfg Kilisede Avery ağlıyordu işte gözleri yaşlı falan, Jake'de orda, Ocean'a mendil veriyor Avery'ye versin diye... Avery orda ölüyor ama beni çoktan mezara gömmüş oluyorlar. Böyle sıkılır mı Jake ya. Nefes alalım bi' dur.

As for Jake, I regret nothing. He taught me a lot about myself.
Attagirl, Ave.
Stand the fuck up for yourself.
Show me whatcha got.
He tore me down and made me put myself back together. I’m so much stronger than I was when I left L.A. But this is still going to destroy my heart—a heart that’s been jerked around, kicked, punched, and dismissed so many times, I’m not sure it even remembers how to beat.

Time is magical. It doesn’t erase things, but it gives a different perspective. There’s a shift in magnification. The negative blurs over time, and the good moments—the important ones—they linger and intensify. They become the drug. You want more of those moments, and the risk that held little worth gains value with each passing day.

“Tell me how you love me.” I press my lips to his chest as my hand slides lower, forcing his breath to catch.
His eyes drift shut for a few seconds before he kisses the top of my head. “I love you like an acoustic song. The words mean more. The emotions are magnified. It’s like the stars … during the day we don’t see them, but at night when the world around us feels stripped and bare, they shine so brightly.” He ghosts his hands up my hips and brushes his lips over my cheek to my mouth. “I’ve never seen anything as beautiful as you are in this very moment. Our love is … flawed but perfect.” His tongue drags along my top lip. “It’s honest and open. It’s naked, Ave … our love is a naked love.”

REVIEW: 4.5 STARS
"Loneliness is the side effect of solitude starving the soul."

Jewel is just one of those authors that I trust implicitly. She has shown me time and time again that she can give me a story with its own quirks, its own differences, and successfully tear up my heart and put me back together again. She also has her own brand of humor and if you've ever watched her vlogs and videos, you would immediately know that there is just a little bit of her in every book she writes. The banter and sense of humor her characters possess has to be at the top of my favorites list. So when it came time to read a rom-com, no one better than Jewel E Ann to give me what I need in that type of book. Not only does she write hilariously, but she also gives me everything I ever need in a story. This one, even though I am not a huge rom-com reader, she proves time and time again that I can trust her with anything to write and I am going to enjoy it.

Her track record: She's wrecked me. She's given me serious and heavy love. She's given me mind bending. She's made me gasp. She's had me in stitches. She's done it all. No matter what I read, she has never let me down. Ever.

"We have lots of places to go, Ave...just nowhere we need to be."

LESSONS LEARNED, HEARTS REDIRECTED, EMOTIONS DISCOVERED.....seriously, this book had a whole bunch of thinking scenarios - mixed in with all the hilariousness, and that's what I love about Jewel E Ann's books. It isn't always black and white, and the variables make me think deeper than the surface story I am reading. There's always a roundabout way of her telling me something while I read her stories, and it's like a light turning on. Love and emotions present themselves through a prism of actions that don't always go the way I thought they would...or should. Of course, I'm never let down and I love that part about her books. The discovery alone of the plot points and story arcs is very exciting. I love that she's not always the hum and drum same as all the others - and this book was proof. There is not one thing that is formulaic about her stories, because the minute I think I know what is going to happen, she definitely throws me a curve ball. The characters are falling in love on the page while I am falling in love with them and her words.

"You're also one spontaneous act short of perfection."

When I found out I was going to get Avery's story in Jewel E Ann's newsletter - because we met Avery in Undeniably You, which is her sister's story, I was both excited and bummed. I can't read a book in increments. I do NOT own that bit of self control that allows me to read and wait and read and wait. Finding out that it was going to be a published book after she was done, I knew I was good to wait. I saw all those teasers and excerpts she was posting on Facebook, and I knew I was in for a real treat. Surprise - I laughed my ass off! I was laughing the minute I opened the book. So, yeah - Avery is her own brand of "special" and her lifestyle is most definitely eye-roll worthy, but it was all explained away by circumstance, so it was easy for me to follow along and understand and have some sort of ability to connect with her on a level I would never normally have been able to. But again, infused with Jewel's humor, it was a smile worthy read as well. SO funny. So good. Surprisingly emotional...but a very fun book to read.

"The English language has hundreds of thousands of words. There's always...something to say."

I really liked how different this one was. How quirky Avery may have been. How lessons were learned. How hearts were irrevocably changed. This one was the epitome of a smile in a book. I love that I know that no matter what book I pick up from Jewel, it's going to be a one of a kind, original story. One that will have not only the strength embedded in the words that I crave, but also the strength in a bond that I just know I am going to be thinking about long after the story is over. Avery and Jake will stay in my heart. They were the most unusual couple, but it was an unknowing attraction that was the best part about this story. Because I could sympathize with her, I could empathize with him....I was able to connect to both these characters, and that's definitely due to the excellent writing. Jewel is definitely my {{book}} drug of choice.

I just really like her style and her voice....and there is a reason she sits atop my list of favorite authors.

"Jake is a thief who takes breaths, slays words before they fall from my lips, and steals hearts."

”Our love is … flawed but perfect. It’s honest and open. It’s naked, Ave … our love is a naked love.”

Jake & Avery. Told from dual POV’s. I think I might classify it as enemies to lovers.
How it ends:

First impression of Avery is that she’s shallow, vain, immature, materialistic and selfish. Clearly she didn’t impress me. I spent half of he book not liking her very much, until.....all of a sudden she grew on me. She does some self-evaluation and grows as an individual and as Avery discovers who she really is, she becomes a likeable character.

First impression of Jake was that he was snarky, in a fun way. He seemed easy going and down to earth. With all his muscles and his tats, he was swoon-worthy. I spent most of the book liking Jake, until.....all of a sudden he annoyed me.

Just about the time Avery started looking inside herself and becoming more vulnerable, Jake started being somewhat cruel and I really got mad at him for losing all his nice guy qualities. He was downright mean in some of the things he said to Avery. And, when she was honest and told him about a certain relationship she had, he basically called her a whore. Right there he lost me. What a total dick! Jake has his own issues and hang-ups that he has to deal with. But still, he was cruel and I didn't appreciate the way he tossed Avery aside.

I really didn't feel the chemistry between these two. They have some fun, witty banter in the beginning. But, other times they truly don't like each other and that comes through loud and clear with the mean things they say and do to each other. I didn't feel like their mean actions had any type of hint of hidden sexual tension. So, when all of a sudden they were kissing each other, I just couldn't buy into it.

Also, I’m not a fan of stupid humor. When people are actually klutzy, it can be funny. But when humor is stupid and it feels forced, count me out. There were some pretty funny scenes, but other times i was rolling my eyes and it felt too forced.

By the very end of the book I think both characters somewhat redeemed themselves. But I didn't get enough time with their "new" versions of themselves to really appreciate them as people and as a couple. I loved them in the epilogue, but it was just not enough.

I’m sure I’m in the minority with my 3 star rating. So while I've read some things I've liked from this author (and I’m sure I’ll read more in the future) this story just didn't really do it for me.

Other:
No OW/OM drama, no cheating by H/h
First bedroom scene happens around 50% mark
Sad moment, might be a trigger or make someone cry

Quotes:
"Loneliness is the side effect of solitude starving the soul."

"Be open to the lessons life has to teach you.”

"Be open to let miracles grace your life.”

"Bad news is a feeling that arrives like an executioner in your chest before the words are ever spoken. It’s a look. A sad smile. It’s an invisible poison. And no words can soften the blow after that first wordless hit."

"You don’t have to love yourself before you love someone else, but it sure is a gift to them if you do."

4,5 “nearly peed my pants” stars

If you are looking for a funny book low on angst that will have you giggling all along don't look further!

This book was a total surprise. A gift from Jewel E Ann to her followers.

After having read a fantastic story on WWII and a heartbreaking but beautiful YA contemporary I was looking for something light and fun. This book was a godsend!

Avery and Jake banter and bickering was a delicious and fun long foreplay!

Meet Avery:
“Pain slices along my hand, shooting up my arm, as a cold sweat breaks out along my brow from the nausea settling into the pit of my stomach. I admit it—if only to myself—I, Avery Montgomery, am a wuss. I’ve cancelled clients because of an irritated hangnail. Menstrual cramps leave me bedridden for twenty-four hours. And I’m one of those patients who require nitrous oxide just to get my teeth cleaned. It’s genetic. There has to be a low pain tolerance gene.”

Do you picture Avery, diva to her painted toes and nails?

I was already grinning like a fool! Seriously I must have looked like a deranged woman so many times while reading this on the train!

Dressed in designer clothes she will embark by an unexpected turn of events on a camping road trip with big, muscled, tatted and vegan Jake.

How did she meet Jake?

Well after her rich boyfriend lied to her about not loving chocolate she drove to her dad because when you are wronged and hurt you go see daddy!

But her widower of a dad has met someone online.

And that my friends was another scene where I nearly peed my pants again!
“Excuse me, what did you say?” He grins like someone … No. No, no, no … he’s not in love. He’s not standing two feet from me looking all giddy and gaga. It’s exhaustion. I’m hallucinating. After a long nap, this will all make sense.” (…) “Deedy is a guy with a big dick who likes to wear women’s clothes. This won’t end well. But he’s my dad.”

I swear friends that Jewel went all out! I bet she was laughing out loud while writing this story. She must have had a mad “deranged” smile all along, ending with cramps smiling so hard!

Now back to Jake who is one of Deedy’s friends and ready to head back to Los Angeles.

Jake is hot stuff and has the most amazing taste in T shirts with funny quotes! Seriously Jewel I hope you’ll sell his shirts! Just to give you a taste one of my favorite displayed: “Karma is Like 69 You Get What You Give”

Jake could compete with Luke from The Darkest Star by Jennifer L.Armentrout.

He dreams of sleeping outside and commune with nature and silence. Avery dreams of five stars hotels, spa and sheets with one million threads. She can't stop speaking and wear high heels. He wants to hike.

Avery is a diva and everything Jake despises. But he agreed to drive her and help her get back home. His good deed because he believes in helping others. “Happy, healthy, helpful.”

Yet he’ll want to strangle Avery many many times!

Avery was so far from heroines that I admire! I usually find divas vapid and shallow but she was so funny that I could not hate her.
The more you get to know her the more you realize that Avery is hiding a heart of gold. Her love of makeup and beautiful dresses hides old wounds. And you’ll fall for her frailty. You will also cheer when she finds her backbone. After having been challenged and shaken by Jake she will hold her ground, see her worth. I wanted to cheer and shout “Atta Girl!”

This story was like attending a tennis contest following the ball being volleyed back and forth between the players. Jake taunted Avery and she gave as good as she got! The sarcasm was heavy, the pranks made me laugh countless times.
In three words: I had fun!

Have you read Jewel's books? Do you like RomCom?

Full disclosure, written rom-coms almost always fall short for me and some of the banter in Naked Love was totally lost on me. I am sure 99% of other readers will think I'm crazy and that's OK, I am.
Let's start with Avery because I am almost always harder on heroines than I am heroes. That my friends is because, to quote Tammy Wynette's Stand By your Man, "cause after all he's just a man" I give them more of a pass because men can be totally clueless sometimes

But Avery, man o' man WHAT A PRINCESS

description

I don't mean that in a good way, not the selfless do-gooder, think Princess Diana. She is spoiled, unappreciative, assigns dollar amounts to everything she owns when speaking of said object and making sure everyone knows she has the best of the best. Jake has got to be the most patient person alive. That chick would have been bound and gagged

description

I didn't like her, I didn't think her banter was witty and I was wondering how I was going to finish this book. But then I hit 60/70% and everything changed because Avery changed in the most significant and amazing way. I was team Avery all the way!!!

Jake, I loved from his first page. Vegan chef, taker of zero shit, hot hot hot Jake.

description

All in all, another gem from Jewel.

With Naked Love, Jewel E. Ann dives head first into the enemies-to-lovers trope, and the result is a fun and sometimes emotional love story featuring memorable characters.

If it’s true that opposites attract then Jake and Avery should be stuck together like Crazy Glue. Too bad they’re likely to kill each other first. Avery is a down-on-her-luck mega diva. Everyone is fond of Jake, the modest nice guy who takes an instant disliking to Avery. They seem to bring out the worst in each other. The two of them plus a large dog sharing a tent while camping their way across the country has “Bad Idea” written all over it. It’s a wonderful recipe for an entertaining story, though.

Both of them have a ton of baggage. Jake is judgmental and takes perverse pleasure in torturing Avery. Getting to the bottom of the cause kept me engaged. I also enjoyed his obsession with t-shirts featuring wildly inappropriate slogans. Avery could be a spokesperson for shallow materialism, but it’s not baseless. Her metamorphosis is particularly poignant.

This story is a little bit bitter, but mostly funny and sweet. I loved the epilogue so much! (Side note to authors: Give me all the epilogues all the time. Please and thank you.) I’d say this book is a great weekend or beach read.

5 out of 5 stars!!!

"Life is a game of limbo—how low can I go?"

An absolute rollercoaster delight!!!

This book is going STRAIGHT TO MY FAVORITE ROMANCE reads! I have been looking for this kind of story and I have found it, all thanks to Jewel E. Ann. I thank you! ❤

The CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT of this story is 100% 👌👌👌 I want to flex. I want to flaunt. I want to shove this book into every available romance junkie arms. Read this!

Jewel E. Ann created a heroine with a personality that most readers would definitely not appeal to. This is precisely one of my reasons why I loved this story. The heroine having an absolute unlikable trait that not only the hero but also the reader would struggle to arc into. Throughout the story, Jewel Ann manipulates and compels us to slowly fall in love with the connection and tension between her characters. I will always revel and celebrate books that perfectly capture love, stripped to its very essence. Its most genuine core. Naked love.

PLOT

Avery Montgomery is a diva who loves material things, branded shoes, bags, clothes, make-ups. You name it. She adores it.

After having been cheated on by countless ex-boyfriends who promised her weddings, she is trying to keep herself from committing the same mistake, again and again. She is determined to go home to L.A. rather than stay with her dad and a stepmom who's less than a decade younger than her. Her only choice of travel is to catch a ride with this camper friend, Jake

Jake, after minutes interacting with Avery, he already knows he dislikes her and her 100% diva personality. But, he decides to bring her along to his camping adventure, as a favor for his close friend, Deedy.

Avery wants to go home as soon as possible. Jake wants to take his time travelling and camping. The absolute experience. Showers in the lake. Peeing on bushes. Meals from convenience stores. The more inconvenient for Avery, the more appealing to Jake. Plus, they have an adorable and sometimes pain in the ass (Exclusively Avery's ass) dog, Swarley.

For how many camping and travelling days together, the two get to know each other on more than a surface level. They discover how there is so much more to the other than tattoos and muscle or high-heel sandals and leather bags.

CHARACTERS & STORY

Avery Montgomery, blonde; blue eyes, 29 - Materialist Beauty Queen
Jake Matthews; golden blond hair, blue eyes - Vegan Environmentalist

In the beginning, Avery was a serial dater who always needed someone in her life; she was whiny, materialistic, complaining and she was a wuss as she said. Even though she did her best to be unlikeable at first, I truly loved her throughout the book.
Ugh, also Jake was so full of himself. His cave-man behaviors... He thought he was better than Avery in every way.

They ended up on a long road trip together; even though they were really hateful to one another initially, they began to develop a relationship that improved both of them. Before noticing, they fell for each other, and they grew up on me.

PROS

*Tshirt quotes are awesome!
*Swarley, the dog
*The writing and storytelling are so good. There are so many quotes that I admired and loved truly.
*The messages are given through the book are amazing! Many ''a word of advice'' to remember!
*I liked how Jake challenged Avery not to be doormant, and he taught her how to stand up to herself.
*A good slow burn

OVERALL

Both of the characters were hard to like initially; she was spoiled and shallow and he was full of prejudice; I thought I wouldn't be able to like them nor the book, but I couldn't be more wrong. They both had amazing chracter development, especially Avery; she became the best of herself with the undeniable help of Jake. And I loved this book truly. A great love story with a great amount of drama, fun, romance, and steam!

Another amazing story by Jewel E. Ann!

The more I read Jewel E Ann books, the more I fall in love with her writing, it’s just so beautiful and compelling and it just keeps me hooked the entire time. Her books just move me and make me feel, all sorts of feelings. I loved this story.

If you’ve read Undeniably You, which I loved, then you have met Avery, who is Sydney’s sister. Avery has been down on her luck lately after a series of unfortunate events. When she decides to take a chance and accept a ride home across country with Jake, a grumpy guy she just met, all sorts of things ensue. It’s quite the journey.

Avery is funny, she was a trip, she started her journey with terrible self esteem and insecurity issues, which made her all vain and materialistic and a diva like the blurb describes. But as the story evolved, she turn into this amazing, strong, stand up for yourself character, her growth was great. Jake was definitely something else, he was an enigma and quite hard to figure out, but underneath he was kind and a softy. But let’s face it, he was a jerk, and did jerky things to Avery. But she made him work hard and grovel for redemption and I think he totally achieved it. And who doesn’t love a good redemption story!

I really loved this book and how it unfolded. Loved the ending and epilogue so much. The audiobook is also fantastic with great narrations. Absolutely recommend!!!

It was hilarious at times, I laughed out loud again and again.
Then there were these serious parts too, which were just as good.
This was just from start to finish a fantastic book. I loved it.

If you are a subscriber of Jewel E Ann’s newsletter, then you know that every month a few chapters of Naked Love was available to follow along as she wrote them. And if you aren’t, then you were missing out. But have no fear! Naked Love, in all its wondrous glory, has been published in its entirety a month early and it does not disappoint. Avery Montgomery and Jake Matthews are complete opposites and their journey to love is anything but easy. Jewel E Ann knows how to strip characters bare, draw out raw emotions and weave a story full of heart, fun and romance. I am unabashedly a serious fan of her work. If you haven’t read her yet you need to. What are you waiting for?

Rip-roaringly hilarious, emotionally rich and snaughlingly crazy, this book has jewel's trademark, razor-sharp humour totally unleashed. She holds no snappy banter back. Lets her brain run away with concocting as many giggle worthy scenarios as she can muster.
I ended up laughing every time I read it in her newsletter, which btw you ALL should subscribe to.Her blog is my guilty pleasure...
Back to the book. Avery has been cheated on by "Anthony Crooked Dick Bianchi" with the cook of all people!!! And the asshole loves chocolate.....i can't even😥
She is cut out of her Diva Lifestyle and has to run home to Dad

description

all men are lying, cheating, monkey spanking, dick  cheese
Daddy-O is getting married........ To Deedy!
Young , nubile, nymph with a heart of gold (but we hate that cause we're #TeamAvery✊) and that makes Avery sick
I cover my mouth to stop the mini vomit coming out. my dad is engaged to be married to a girl young enough to be his daughter and they're ready to make a porno right in the entryway
She ends up being on a forced road trip to California to her sister Sydney's house with Swarley the Weimarner monster and sexy vegan Chef Jake.

description

The trip is straight outta hell for Ave. It's full of life threatening disasters like camping, puking, tummy runs, sickness, nail chipping, root showings, tearing hair extensions, and pride swallowing
Her polished, plastic facade gets stripped by the mile and the girl who reaches Cali is not the girl who started in Illinois.
Eye opening trip changes both Jake and Avery and Sydney and Swarley too.

description

The character growth of Avery is remarkable, she just emerges as pure, honest person and what started as laughing AT her on my part, turned into crying FOR her by the time she reaches Cali. Hiding inside the artificial demeanour is a very beautiful honest conscientious human being and she just wins me over
If I  Lie, we'll  never be real.and I don't want the lies. I want Love. Real. Honest. Soul-consuming. Naked Love

description

Throughout the book,I've laughed so hard that a leeeetle pee may have leaked....ok,multiple times
I may have scared some of my gym friends by snaughling so hard, they thought I was choking, but again she makes us go "awwwwwwww" and then "dammit, why jewel, why??!!"
Tears of joy and heartbreak all in the same book makes it a very entertaining and addictive read.
Once you start, be prepared to ignore your friends, your family, chores, bath, food, rain, grocery, laundry, the world in general and nothing short of apocalypse will get your nose pried out of the book
Go buy and LOL,😂 LMAO,😂 ROFL, 😂ROTFLMAO 😂

📚”… simply admire her beauty in all its perfect and flawed states. Love her as a whole, not just the parts you find worthy of love.”

📚”A scar doesn’t mean you were weak. A scar means you survived. A scar is a badge of strength.”
When she blinks, several tears slide down her cheeks, but she doesn’t move to wipe them away. “You left scars, but now I’m stronger. So… thank you.”

2 puanı da sadece Lautner&Sydney’i gördüğüm, Lautner’in yine beni aşktan erittiği yerlere veriyorum😍😍

“What if I can’t let go?”

I really enjoy Jewel E. Ann's stories and I was excited to get to this one. However, I'm not a fan of weekly chapter stories and I'm glad I was able to hold off until the full book was released.

So imagine my shock when I found out this was related "pool boy" and his girl! To be fair, I had an inkling with the dog but it's been a while since I had read their story.

Jake and Avery meet when she goes to his juice bar. He's just a "tad" abrasive but then so is she...just in different ways. (It was hard to read at first) Avery's had a bit of bad luck and is needing a ride home. Jake is guilted into giving her one, he just goes about it the long way.

Avery's no dummy though but since she is on hard times, she just has suck things up. I did feel bad for her for what Jake put her through and the things he would say. I wasn't surprised at what he did when the drama unfolded. (I did quite like that little twist though.)

I really enjoyed all the family coming together and how they were there for each other. And I loved the growth that Avery made. Jake's t-shirts were funny but that whole dog poop scene was almost a killer for me. Overall, their story was sweet and I loved how it ended.
