A hilarious small-town forest ranger vs celebrity YouTube star comedy--for fans of sweet romance, laughs, and happily ever afters.

I love my small Montana town, and I’ll do anything to drive away those who don’t appreciate it—snarky tourists, badmouthing blind dates, and above all, Tanner Carmichael. He’s a hot YouTube travel expert with millions of entitled fans who overrun every small town he features.

So when he shows up in my town and demands I show him around, there’s only one thing to be sabotage. I’ll make sure he tastes the worst food and experiences only the rough and eccentric parts of Huckleberry Creek, Montana—and the best part is, he won’t even know it. I’ll make him so miserable he’ll be gone in that bright red Tesla before you can say “twenty million subscribers” and everything will go back to normal.

What could possibly go wrong?

I got an arc of this book from the author. The story and main bits are super cute and it has some string characters theat feel real and loved. It centers around a small town and a woman (Sophie) who wants to protect it when a new comer (Tanner) comes in to show it on his youtube channel. They fall in love and its adorable.

You can tell this is the first book of this style the author has written. There were a lot of obstacles that the author packed into a short amount of space that forced Tanner to have to apologize one right after the other and there was no break inbetween each event. I feel it would have been better to either sperate them further or combine them so he needed to make one big apology. At one point someone does something outside of Tanners control and Tanner is blamed for it and no consequences are brought into the other person at all. For the anger it was meant to ignite, i felt a little let down that something didnt happen to the person who actually caused it. This was clearly an early draft though so hopefully that will be fixed. A few characters were brought in last minutewhich really changed Tanners story from what i thought it was. That threw me out if the book that i enjoyed otherwise.
Other than those small things it was a good read and with more time in the genre i feel like the author will find her niche and have a really good series.

“You’re the most frustrating person I’ve ever met.”
“Funny. You’re the most fun I’ve had in weeks.”

🌟 4.5/5 – "Enemies-to-lovers at its snarky, swoony best"

I went into Just Can’t Fall for the Enemy by Sasha Hart expecting a typical small-town rom-com—and ended up loving it way more than I thought I would. Honestly? It was so much better than Just One Summer with the Grumpy Boss.

Sophie and Tanner’s dynamic is pure gold. The enemies-to-lovers tension hits right from the start, and the banter? Sharp, funny, and actually believable. Sophie is fierce and protective of her town, while Tanner is charming but not perfect. Watching them clash (and crash into feelings) was a joy.

What really stood out to me was how light and fun the book felt—even though Sophie was holding on to a lot of sadness and pressure under the surface. Sasha Hart managed to write a story that had real emotional weight, without ever dragging the mood down. The reading was smooth, the pacing tight, and I was pulled in from start to finish.

Compared to Grumpy Boss, this one just had more spark. The characters had more bite, the emotional beats landed harder, and the love story felt earned—not just cute. I cared more, laughed more, and definitely swooned more.

If you’re into enemies-to-lovers with heart, heat, and humor—this one’s a must-read.

It was okay. 2.5 stars.

The premise was interesting. Enemies to lovers, a woman trying to protect her quiet part of the world from being given away by a celebrity youtuber and his millions of annoying followers. She shows him around under the guise of helping him film the place, but of course has no intention of showing him an actual good time.

It's not actually enemies to lovers, though. Sophie might view him as an enemy and threat based on... the deep issues she should get therapy for, but Tanner has a bad case of love-at-first-sight. And they moved REALLY fast... completely-change-your-life-after-knowing-a-person-for-a-few-days unrealistically fast.

Something that really annoyed was the hypocrisy of Sophie.

There were a few weak plot points that also felt very contrived, but the hypocrisy and overreaction of the main character killed my care for her love life.

You tube star and ladies man, Tanner, has come to the small town of Huckleberry to film his latest episode. There’s a lot at stake as he’s trying to impress and gain a new partnership with the biggest YouTuber around. Sophie, a resident of Huckleberry, is protective of her town and very wary of their new temporary resident. It seems that every city he visits seems to have problems after he leaves. Sophie makes it her personal mission to be his “tour guide” and drive him right back out of town.

I enjoyed this one! It was so funny to see Sophie try (and fail) to scare Tanner off with her tricks. I was giggling as she was trying to think of the next thing to run him off. The two were so sweet together, and I loved the small town vibes. The ending was just THE BEST. It left me swooning. 🥰 This was definitely a fun, super sweet enemies to lovers romance.

Feel like this is marketed as enemies to lovers but is really actually insta-love. Thought it was cute for the first half, but then it just got too far-fetched for me in the second half.

Mild spoiler:

They knew each other for 5 days (two of which she was "pushing him away") and she was upset that he didn't yet tell her he had previously been engaged two years ago? And called him a liar for that? And ran away crying to her grandmother? I just found that so bizarre. Like you barely know the man; it's really not that crazy that he hasn't told you every detail of his life and dating history yet.

This really is in no way an enemies to lovers. After 3 days of knowing each other, they're dating. Then a few days after that he makes a public proclamation to millions of people that he's in love with her...

Small town romance with all the feels

I loved outspoken Sophie so much!! She was funny, sassy and kind despite the hardships she had faced. I loved her protective nature and how she loved her town and the people in it.

I thought I had Tanner figured out and wrote him off as a playboy influencer but he was deep! And sensitive and smart.

Watching the two of them try not to fall for each other was a joy! I want more

Loved the story. I would change the name of the book. I believe that their love was instant and true. She had lost so many that she loved. But the love for her family was deep and realistic. He had become successful thru sharing stories, but was confused about his values. She taught him a lot, but it cost him her trust

Fear can keep you from really living

Sophie believed if she lived in a small town she would always be safe. A visitor taught her that she wasn't really living hiding out in this small town. Sophie learns that home is where your heart is. Does she love Tanner enough to leave this safe haven?

This book was such a cute read finished it so quickly but the feels are still lingering.

It talks about love, grief, loss, forgiveness and truly figuring out who you are and what you find most important in life. Sometimes we do so much in life trying to achieve many things without stopping to think if we are even going on the right path.

Very cute, very sweet. Cried, laughed and giggled:)

An example of some of the sub-par writing/descriptions.
Talking about the same smile, within one scene: "same grin as last night, as if he knew a secret and wouldn’t reveal it... There was something so disarming, so open and honest, about his smile."

:/

Cute romcom. I like the writing style. Very much like a small town Hallmark movie where the big star comes to the town and one of the residents tries to save it. Took me a while to finish it as I got distracted by other books, so it didn’t keep my attention all the way through but worth the read.

This was a cute romance. I really like the characters and the small town setting. And I loved the ending and how things were wrapped up and how the second of two third act breakups was solved. I just wish there hadn't been two misunderstandings. It was a bit much.

Just Can't Fall for the Enemy was a quick, easy read that has all the earmarks for a Hallmark movie. Sasha Hart filled this book with humor, but also enough heartbreak and personal struggle for both main characters that kept the story flowing.

fun quick read

Predictable but still fun and has its own twist. I haven’t read about a YouTuber and a park ranger before and I like Sophie and her friends and family and spunk.

Fun and sweet small town rom-com that’s clean. That’s not a combo easily found so I’ll definitely be reading more from this author!
