Unlucky in Love #4

The Love Destroyers

Rate this book
He's supposed to help me get revenge, but all I want to do is get him naked.

Emma

I lost my high-powered legal career and my boss-slash-boyfriend to one of my clients.

It's hard not to hold a grudge against both of them, particularly since she's a social media influencer who's flooding the internet with their supposed happiness. Meanwhile, I've moved back in with my eccentric mother.

At a low moment, I end up telling my hot, single brother-in-law all about my troubles over a bottle of whiskey. To my surprise, he tells me the only way to get over such a slight is to get even.

And he wants to help.

Seamus

I've never been much good for anyone, so I figure I might as well be a little bad for a good cause.

Emma's a strong woman who's forgotten her strength. I'd like to remind her of her power. And, sure, I'd like to do other things, too, but even I know better than to seduce my own sister-in-law.

One of the best things about this series is the way these guys fall for their women. I was so excited to read Seamus and Emma’s story— as this series is seriously addictive! (if you’ve read the others, you know what I mean). Returning home hasn’t been easy for Emma. She came home uncertain, betrayed and slandered by the man she believed she cared deeply for. But being back home, celebrating her brother’s wedding isn’t helping her spirit one bit.

To protect his family, Seamus made past decisions that now haunt him; he’s trying to move on, and being closer to his siblings feels like progress, despite his future’s uncertainty.

Anthony and Rosie’s wedding is a joyous occasion that brings these two together, and I really enjoyed the chemistry and snappy banter between them. Because Seamus is Rosie’s brother and Emma is Anthony’s sister, their steamy and undeniable attraction is a problem they both acknowledge and avoid, but that can only last so long.

I was happy to have read this series in order, so I understood the ins and outs of the connections between the characters. I especially loved Nicole and Damien’s influence and the creative ways the author spins this storyline. The story moves well, and I could not stop reading! Not only is this couple’s HEA perfect for them, the retribution and justice delivered to the “villains” in this one made me cheer.

All the things we love about this series are in this book:
Funny situations, adorable pets, sizzling chemistry, intrigue and entertaining drama, addictive banter, creative situations, and great HEAs all around!

I recommend reading in order, and once done, returning to this author’s catalog of unforgettable works, to enjoy more! I was fortunate to receive a complimentary copy of this book (thank you) and happily leave my review.

Emma lost her job, her boyfriend, and all of her friends after her ex/boss set her up to look like a crazy stalker to hide his own illicit behaviour. Floundering and angry, she loses herself to remodeling her family home as a way to keep busy and forget about impending litigation that could have her losing her license to practise law. Seamus sees how much Emma has lost her spark, and with their families, wants to push her to get retribution by being part of a scheme to take down her ex once and for all.

*****

This was such a genuinely entertaining novel, I couldn't put it down. The chemistry and banter between the two lead characters was exceptional, the leap-day madness and take-down shenanigans had me cackling and burning through this so fast. I loved how slowly they came to accept their attraction, despite the fact that they were clearly gone for each other after their first kiss. Their own back stories and trauma came into play, but didn't pull them out of a dynamic that was incredibly engaging to read.

Also the supporting cast? Amazing. The roommate/dad figure was adorable, the siblings and their partners were so fun, and every time Nicole was on page I knew it'd be hilarious. She was dry, blunt and so ridiculous at all times, and her and her husbands relationship has me wanting to read the rest in this series as well.

This is a slower burn, spice is held off until later on in the book and its genuinely perfect for who they are. This progressed so naturally and yet with so much humour and heart that I immediately went and added the authors others books to my reading list. If you love banter, silly antics, and seeing retribution for wrongs done in the most ridiculous way ever - this one's for you!

Love, redemption and karma

I loved this opposites attract, forbidden romance of two people uninterested in relationships. This heartwarming story will give you all the swoony swoons and the snort worthy laughs while also pulling at your heartstrings with all the warm fuzzy emotions. I was feeling all the things right along with Emma and Seamus. Emma is a divorce attorney who is currently jobless, living with her mother, and facing a bar disciplinary hearing all thanks to the poor choice to date her shifty boss. Seamus is a mechanic who comes from a crime family but left that life behind long ago. He too has had his life shaped by his choices. Seamus meets Emma when his sister marries her brother. They both have complicated messy pasts and the scars to prove it and neither of them are interested in any long term relationships. Despite vowing to avoid being involved with quasi-family, Seamus and Emma’s relationship develops organically and naturally moment by moment as they spend time together and get to know each other. What follows Nicole’s Operation Love Destroyers plan to help Emma and get back at her ex, is a swoony and emotional journey of laughter, leap day madness, goodness, healing, baggage unpacking, redemption, revenge, and life path rearranging. This heartwarming and well written story is at its heart, a story of damaged and bruised but not broken people who continue to find their way by owning their choices, recognizing their scars, finding their strength, and deciding to embrace life, even when it is hard. I love this series and all its characters. They have made my romantic heart so happy.

The series was fun, Emma and Seamus weren’t my favorite but I still enjoyed them. Seamus has a secret that could send him to prison for 25 to life, Emma’s career as a divorce attorney was destroyed by her boss, who was also her secret boyfriend for 2yrs - she’s ignoring her problems by staying busy renovating her family home, Seamus is at a pivotal point in his life, that needs direction - and the two of them connect at their siblings wedding (his sister, her brother) together (and with other supporting characters from the series) work to get Emma her career back, and Seamus starts a life for himself that he’s proud of…..there’s a mix of some drama, both of their problems get resolved, and then….HEA. Easy light read, fun characters, enjoyable series.

Seamus and Emma!

I loved this book! The perfect ending to the series. I laughed out loud at times, I got choked up with tears a couple times too. Seamus and Emma are perfect together and I love the side story for Emma’s mother too. I love all the characters from these books. This book is a standalone, but I recommend reading at least The Love Fixers and The Love Losers first because they give some of the backstory for Emma and Seamus. I loved all the books in the series and would definitely recommend all of them.

This book is so fun. It is a slow burn romantic comedy.

Seamus is such a great character. He has lots of hidden secrets including how sweet he can be.

Emma starts out kinda broken after what happened to her with her ex. They start New Years with a kiss at his sisters wedding.

You get some great side characters that bring so much to the story.

I now want a flask. 😂

This slow burn romance wraps up the Unlucky in Love series in all the right ways. After a messy breakup and a setback in her career, divorce attorney Emma finds herself back home and unexpectedly, alongside Seamus, a reformed bad boy with a complicated past. Their undeniable spark and playful banter light up a story filled with humor, heart, and even a hint of revenge. If you're in the mood for a fun, heartfelt read, this one deserves a spot on your TBR.

Emma and Seamus are back in each other's lives again now that she's living with her mother while taking refuge from her life. She lost her job, her awful ex who was her boss, and now she's back here just trying to keep her head above water. When her new brother-in-law keeps popping up, she can't resist getting close, even though she knows it's a bad idea. Sometimes the bad boy is soooo good he can't be resisted.

Seamus too just knows he can't be involved with his sister's sister-in-law, but how can he resist? There's something so alluring about her and he's finding himself thinking about her more than he's comfortable with. He wants to comfort her, protect her, even *gasp* love her. But he has a past she can't possibly be accepting of. He can't tell her if he wants to keep her. But he can't keep lying. He has a choice to make and it's going to hurt either way.

Seamus the reformed bad boy, Emma the strong, but feeling broken heroine really should not have made such an awesome couple, but they so did. They had a slow burn that practically singed my Kindle, but their emotional connection was even stronger. Though there were some serious secrets buried between the two, and finding them out was a bit heartbreaking for them both. I wanted to hug them both - her for the pain her ex caused her, and Shay for the pain his past caused him and the guilt he still felt for that past and the decisions he had to make. But don't think it was all pain and secrets, because Nicole was along for the ride, and when she's around, things are 100% going to be chaotic in hilarious ways. I've been totally loving this series, but I think Emma and Seamus have all the other couples beat, they're definitely my favorite so far.

This book was just so good; I loved every minute of it. I had no idea what the title was referring to, and when it became obvious it was hilarious. And trust me, you won’t ever be able to hear ‘kitten’ and ‘paperweight’ again without laughing.

The Love Destroyers is the 4th book in the Unlucky in Love series by Angela Casella. It is fantastic as a standalone but as I got more and more into Seamus and Emma’s story the more I realized I was going to have to read the first three books to learn the almost certainly as funny and entertaining backstories of the rest of the characters I met in this book.

Emma’s life is in a dumpster and she’s in a holding pattern, hiding out in her mother’s mansion, the home she grew up in and never wanted to live in again. Emma’s shady ex-boss/ex-boyfriend set her up and now she’s facing possible disbarment and legal action. No job and not much of anything else right now. She knows Jeffrey engaged in criminal activity, but it didn’t work out so well for her the last time she threatened to expose him and she feels hopeless; there’s nothing she could do to make him pay for what he’s done without exposing herself to even more harm.

Seamus and his brother and sister came from a dangerous, unsavory life but managed to walk away after their father died. Seamus has some secrets, though, that could ruin them all. Like Emma he’s in a holding pattern and feeling hopeless; the starry-eyed forever love his brother and sister have found won’t be his.

Emma’s brother is marrying Seamus’ sister. It’s probably not a good idea to hook up, especially at the wedding, even if there is some weird, instant attraction between them, because just imagine the eternity of horrible family dinners if things don’t work out. Ugh. But Emma finds herself sharing her entire story with Seamus, something she never, ever does, and he feels tender and protective, not usual aspects of his personality. Neither is looking for a relationship, they both just want to endure the wedding and get out of there, but fate or something takes a hand and they are thrown together over and over in all kinds of unexpected circumstances.

Everyone agrees that Jeffrey must pay for what he’s done to Emma. The plan is beyond crazy – but it just might work. If nobody gets killed first. The Love Destroyers is populated with outrageous characters, and a web of family connections. They are funny and infuriating and unpredictable but united in their determination to set things right for Emma. Running alongside this twisting, turning plot is the relationship developing between Seamus and Emma. He’s done some bad things but he’s a man with a good heart and an unbreakable love for family – and maybe for Emma? She’s so depressed and despondent over the bad decisions she made – and certain everybody is expecting her to keep on making them – but it’s like the clouds part and the sun appears when she starts to believe that maybe there is another type of life and another type of person for her.

The Love Destroyers is a perfect blend of absurdity and serious topics, with near-slapstick, with malice and evil intent, with love and hope – and with rabbits and kittens. And that paperweight. I received an advance copy of The Love Destroyers. I absolutely loved it and recommend it without hesitation. Angela Casella has gone on my auto-buy list. I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.

These two!
The banter, the chemistry, the slow burn, the laughs, the spice!
It was all such a perfect balance, and honestly it's what I've come to expect and love so much about Angela's books that I'm not at all surprised I had such great time with them. 🥰

Emma has just suffered a huge blow to her professional life and it has shifted who she thinks she's supposed to be and what she's supposed to do so drastically that she's having a bit of an early mid-life crisis/burnout spiral when she meets Seamus at her brother Anthony's and Seamus' sister Rosie's wedding.

Seamus has been trying to stay on the straight and narrow after getting sucked into a less than legal world years ago, and having to do less than legal things to get out of it, so he doesn't think he could possibly ever be good enough for the witty, intelligent, gorgeous, successful lawyer Emma who is now his sister's sister-in-law.

And yet these two still have this undeniable chemistry that they both have to keep fighting, and can't help but be drawn to each other anyways. (Sometimes with a little help from meddling mothers... 😏)

I will always love great banter, and Angela is a pro at it, but she elevated the art form with these two. And of course, getting some Nicole and Damien time in there always ups the comedy factor! 🤣
There was still so much emotional depth and heart as well, and both of these characters went through some real emotional growth separately and together by the time we got to the end. I really love how Angela can mix these elements so effortlessly and get me so invested in the characters.

If you have any interest in rom-coms, I highly recommend this and any of Angela's books. This is the 4th and final book in the Unlucky in Love series (but don't worry, we get set up for the next series in this one, and even get a tease!), and while you could probably read it as a standalone, it would definitely be best enjoyed if the series were read in order.

All of Angela's series have at least small interconnected threads in them, with some having larger ones. This series in particular would benefit from reading Bringing Down The House, which is Nicole and Damien's story, who are also side characters in the Bad Luck Club series & the Fairy Godmother Agency series.

The Love Destroyers is the final book in the Unlucky in Love series and I have absolutely adored all of these characters! Emma, a divorce attorney who recently lost her job and most of her friends in Charlotte because of her boyfriend/boss, has moved back home to live with her mother and lick her wounds. Her plan is to redecorate her outdated childhood home, referred to as "The Smith House" and hopefully evict the bad vibes from her deceased father. Seamus ("Shay") has come to the same town for his sister's wedding to Emma's brother. He is not planning on sticking around as the local PI is trying to figure out his secrets - things he hasn't even shared with his siblings. When the people he works with try to get him to come to the dark side, he moves back to the NC town with his brother's FIL. He knows his secret makes him unworthy of Emma, but he just can't resist. She needs someone to build her up and help her get her confidence back while taking down her former boyfriend/boss and Seamus will happily be the one to do it.

The chemistry between Emma and Seamus is sizzling and they barely touch for a good part of the book! They are obviously into each other and have good reasons for trying to deny it. The supporting cast in this book is one of my favorites. Chuck, Seamus' roommate is just such a stereotypical good guy dad who loves to talk so it's impossible not to like him. Emma's mother, Ms. Rosings, has shown glimmers of personality in other parts of this series but gets her moment to shine here. I absolutely died laughing during the scene between her, Emma, and Seamus in the Smith Home's office. Nicole is as kooky and blunt as always and it is always one of my favorite things when she decides to make up elaborate schemes. Bored Nicole is an entertaining Nicole. I'm sad to see this series end, but hopefully we'll have more characters crossing over into the next one!

Emma is back home to lick her wounds. Her boss / boyfriend has set her up to look like she’s a crazy stalker all because she caught him fudging some numbers. Now she’s without a job and may also be disbarred. And, because she’s bored, she’s redecorating her mother’s mansion.

Seamus was only supposed to be in town for his sister’s wedding. But when he comes across Emma, who steals his flask and grabs his attention the way no woman ever has before, he finds himself a permanent resident. And, when Nicole decides it’s time for Operation Love Destroyers to break up Emma’s former boss and his new fling while also finding the dirt they need to exonerate Emma, Seamus is all in.

They both know they shouldn’t. Seamus has a past . . . a big one, and Emma doesn’t really believe in love anymore. They’ve both been burned by relationships. And, technically, Seamus is Emma’s brother in law. Yet their attraction can’t be denied. Can they both move on from their pasts while Emma steals more than just Seamus’s flask, when she steals his heart as well?

Ohhhh, Emma and Seamus are fantastic together! Spicy from the first moment, Emma has always been a bit wild and Seamus is definitely a bad boy with a heart of gold for those he cares about. Their banter is wickedly sexy and fun. Their back and forth is a game of chemistry and attraction as the heat between them continues to rise, all the while their true natures shine through.

The Love Destroyers was sexy and fun while also allowing for some sweet moments. Readers also see all of our favorite couples from previous books. And, even better, Mrs. Rosings Smith finally gets the man she deserves as well, all while Nicole and friends work to take down the man trying to ruin Emma’s life. Hilarious, flirty and everything in between. 5 stars!

Jilted and professionally ruined by her cheating, cruel, and corrupt ex, divorce attorney in limbo Emma has been puttering around her family estate as a fragment of the confident, capable woman she once was, haphazardly redecorating the manse in ways her father would loathe, and completely lacking direction. At her brother’s New Year’s Eve wedding, a brittle Emma is kissed silly by a tattooed hunky bad boy who’s just become an in-law. Before things can go further, however, he makes an offhand but triggering comment to which she bristles and storms off, stealing his flask in the process.

Former hired thug turned car restoration specialist Seamus has been harboring a huge secret from his sister and brother in an effort to keep them safe. In doing so, he’s been wrestling with his conscience, convinced he’s too tainted to be of value to anyone, especially someone as posh as the lovely heiress Emma. Even after being rebuffed by her, he can’t stay away, so he takes up residence in her hometown and sets his sights on destroying her ex and restoring her good name.

With the help of delightfully pushy family members and friends, as well as a psych0tic bunny and a feisty rescue kitten, things go off the rails in hilarious and poignant ways.

This was a lovely end for now to the series, (anxiously awaiting Sophie’s story in the new spinoff) and I loved every minute of it. Emma’s mom is still a prickly, entitled matron with a tender core she’d slap anyone for acknowledging. Seamus is as good a guy at heart as Damien, Declan, or Anthony, and Emma is the best version of herself in this installment in contrast to the others.

I was generously provided an advance reader copy from the author and The Author Agency, and I’m sharing my honest review.

The story starts with everyone gathered for Rosie and Anthony’s wedding, including his sister Emma and Rosie’s brother, Seamus. The chemistry between them is incredible but it would be a terrible idea to act on it, so they resist. They both have a lot of baggage so the last thing either one needs is more complications. Emma has returned home basically broken, not because of losing her ex but due to the damage he was able to do to her reputation and career. She lost her job, her friends, and her dignity because of that man so she should make him pay, but she doesn’t know where to start. Instead, she tries to soothe her soul by exorcising their family home of her father’s presence, to no avail.

Seamus has secrets, much like his brother, but they’re even more dangerous than Declan’s worries. He’s done things he isn’t proud of, but they had to be done to protect his family and he’s not sorry. That’s his burden to carry so he’s never shared the details with his siblings, although he wants to, desperately. I love a good revenge story and the slow-burn between these two made it even better. Nicole and Damien always add another element to every story and there’s even a bonus romance with side characters, so this is a BOGO love story. I liked this series a lot and am sad to see it end but the first book in a new spin-off series is coming soon, so it’s not just the end.

You can read all of my reviews at Nerd Girl Loves Books.

This is a fun and flirty close proximity revenge romcom with a bad boy hero who falls first while he helps her get even.

Emma loses her job as an attorney when her boss/boyfriend dumps her and hooks up with her younger influencer client. She slinks home to stay with her mother as she licks her wounds and prepares to face the disciplinary board. During an event surrounding her brother's wedding she confides in her hot soon-to-be brother-n-law Seamus, who tells her to get over it all she needs to get even. Seamus has his own troubles and shuns relationships because of his situation, but finds himself drawn to Emma and wanting to help her get her strength back. Together, they hatch a plan to get back at Emma's boss/boyfriend and save her career. They both know it's not a good idea to get involved, but their hearts don't want to listen to their brains.

This is the fourth book in the series but can be read as a stand-alone. I really liked Emma and Seamus. Their flirty banter was adorable and when you get to the kitten and bunny part, your heart is going to melt. In addition to their love story, you also get a front row seat to another couple’s meet-cute. It will put a big grin on your face. Emma and Seamus' friends and family members added so much depth to the story that I would read a book about them as well. (hint hint hint) You should definitely check out this book and series.

Angela has given us a wonderful rom-com, with the perfect amount of revenge and payback. Every one of her books is perfectly balanced to give us the romance we all love, with just the right amount of revenge and/or suspense to keep the storyline going. Throw in the humor that is always included in her writing and she has produced another can’t put down story that I devoured.

Emma is spiraling after losing almost everything she has worked for. To make matters worse, she lost everything due to her ex and boss throwing shade on her, while covering up his own wrong doings. She throws herself into remodeling her family home and is just stuck. I felt for Emma and the wrong done to her. I loved watching her go from “my life is over” to “yes, I want to get my life back and make him pay”.

Seamus sees Emma for everything that she is. What starts out as wanting to help her get her spark back, turns into him not being able to control his growing feelings for this woman. He helps Emma channel her anger into something else besides remodeling and shows her there is a way to come back from this. He helps to remind her how strong and amazing she is. His background makes him somewhat perfect for helping Emma get revenge too.

Through humor, witty banter, and side characters that bring so much to the story, this book was laugh out loud fun to read. Angela brings unlikely characters together and reminds us all to not focus too much on the bad. In doing so, we risk missing out on something amazing that is right in front of us. A wonderful addition to the Unlucky in Love series that I highly recommend.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

Book Review: The Love Destroyers by: Angela Casella

I love this series so much with each one I love it more and now I can’t wait for the spin off with Sophie! But back to this one! If you want a story with forbidden love (in laws), two people not really interested in anything serious, polar opposites, witty sometimes snarky back and forth banter then this is your next read! This story was adorable and cute with its overall revenge plot while also being so heartwarming and swoony! The amount of giggles this book brings out and the funny stuff they do two the two characters they are trying to destroy is hilarious.

And he is a bunny and cat daddy in the end so how could you not love Seamus? Plus he restores classic cars and would do anything for those he loves. Even if he feels he isn’t good enough he puts himself out there in the hopes to help someone and let them know they matter even if he hides it.

Emma I felt for her she’s so strong and smart and really she did take the high road after that jerk but I’m so glad with Nicole’s ways making sure Jeffrey got his karma.

This story was a delicious slow burn 🔥 and with all the will they won’t they tension I was gripping the kindle in anticipation. I really loved how she did that in this story it made it all the more real. Angela does a great job taking “broken/damaged” people and letting their best selves shine while also healing them and showing their vulnerability and ultimately finding the person perfect for them to love.

This book will give you all the warm fuzzies and lots of laughs along the way. It was perfect!

This was a great ending to the series. And it came with two unexpected romances in one book. If you're looking for a romantic comedy with a side of revenge, this is the perfect book to escape with.

I absolutely adored Seamus. He was a rough around the edges cinnamon roll hero. I loved all that he overcome and even though he had to do some bad things to protect his family, I respected him for doing what needed to be done to finally be free of the chains his uncle held on him and his siblings. He's probably my favorite hero of this series because he kept me laughing with his banter. And he gave up smoking. At first I was like ugh, he's a smoker. But once he gave it up, he was back on my 'he has promise' list.

I'll admit that I wasn't the biggest fan of Emma at first. She just didn't come across as the classy lawyer and debutante I expected. But she was the perfect match for Seamus and gave as good as he gave. And when it counted, she metaphorically grew a pair and stood up for herself to get her life back instead of moping.

Based on how this book started, I fully expected lots of spice. But while there was chemistry the entire book, Ms. Casella kept things more PG until later in the book. Not complaining, I just wasn't expecting that based on other books by the author and just how explosive these two were every time they were together.

The ending was perfect. I loved seeing how far they had come as a couple and of course, the update on Chuck/Ms. Rosings. Chuck, by the way, is such a great side character. His innocence was adorable, especially for someone his age.

Rating: 4.25/5⭐️

“I could look at you for the rest of my life. It could be the only thing I ever did, and I'd never get bored.”

Summary: Emma lost not only her boyfriend(who also was her boss) but also her career when he cheated on her with a client. In a moment of weakness, Emma shares her troubles with her brother's brother-in-law, Seamus, over a bottle of whiskey. Seamus has decided to make it his mission to help Emma regain her strength and power and maybe even get a little revenge on her jerk of a boss. Everything should be fine except for the insane chemistry between them.

My Thoughts: I have loved this series so so much and am sad that it is over. The banter and chemistry between Seamus and Emma had me kicking my feet most of the book loving their pull of will they won't they. We've heard a lot about them throughout this series, but it was so nice to finally get all of their story. They were very different from one another but their love and support of each other was beautiful. Of course, Nicole and Damien made an appearance in this book to help Emma get revenge on her boss so that she can have her career back after he tried to ruin her. I loved seeing some of my favorite characters from this series throughout the book.

This is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone.

I loved this book! The characters of Emma and Seamus are two of the best for witty banter, snarkiness and flirtatious interaction. There are great one-liners throughout the book. The flirtatious banter back and forth between Seamus and Emma might be the best as Casella has them playing off each other so well. That said, I kept laughing from beginning to end. Everything about the book keeps the reader turning the page simply to discover the next flirtatious interaction, hilarious moment, insane ideas and plans for Operation Love Destroyers.

Emma finds herself in a position that has led her from lawyer to … interior design … in her mother’s house … and she IS BAD at it. Yet, if she was good at it, Seamus would have continued to stay away from her as much as possible since their situation is complicated. So many laughable moments follow. And Nicole, the bluntest detective ever, puts all into play yet, Nicole seems to be working on a plan of her own as well. Emma struggles with doubts about almost everything now because of what happened to her. Seamus struggles with his own doubts that he could be good enough for Emma especially with the secret he is keeping. There is a strong pull of attraction, sweet moments and the perfect amount of spice.

There are twists and turns in the book (that I wish I could really spill!) which is why I recommend reading this book. There is no part of the story, the characters involved or craziness which does not meet the good, warm & romantic vibes of this book. TBR pile right now!

💙ARC REVIEW | The Love Destroyers💙

My Rating: 4.7 (rounded up to 5⭐️ on Goodreads)
Spice: 🌶️🌶️

This is book #4 in the Unlucky in Love series and I loved it just as much as I loved the first! It’s a series of interconnected stand alone books and I really enjoyed the way the characters from the other 3 books were sprinkled into this one.

The FMC, Emma, is on her revenge arc and I am here for it! She meets the MMC, Seamus, at her lowest point, having just lost her job, her relationship and her reputation. Rather than seeing her as a broken girl who needs fixing, our MMC encourages her to stand up for herself and get her life back….with his help of course! (We love a supportive bad boy.) Oh, and did I mention Seamus is her brother-in-law?!

On her quest to find revenge and rebuild her life, Emma and Seamus build a will they, wont they relationship and the banter and tension is 🔥. They even end up sharing custody of a cute little kitten and a grumpy bunny rabbit 😂

Tropes:
-Brother-in-law
-Forced Proximity
-Bad boy Image
-He Falls First

This book was so much fun to read and I really enjoyed watching the relationship grow between the two main characters as well as among the side characters. The plot never felt like it was lacking and though there were only a few spicy scenes, they were 😳🔥 and felt relevant to the story. The banter was hilarious and I found myself smiling and blushing several times and I was more than ready for them to get their HEA. This was a perfect Valentines read 💕

The Love Destroyers is now available on Kindle Unlimited and Amazon!

Loved it! Just the revenge rom com I was looking for!

Seamus and Emma are incredible, their chemistry lights up the pages in a will they, wont they, PLEASE GET TOGETHER ALREADY sort of way and I devoured every second of their banter and games. They poked fun at each other and matched wits through the whole story. Seamus helping Emma despite what she might uncover about him makes him one of the sweetest bad boy MCs I’ve come across. I loved him within a few pages so it’s no surprise Emma gravitated towards him. He helped Emma regain her spirit and also helped himself open up and move past his beliefs of himself. Emma’s light was pretty dim at the start of the story and meeting Seamus really helped her rediscover herself, what she deserved and what she was willing to fight for. By the end she was back to her fiery self.

There’s a couple of super cute animals and Chuck was the most wholesome character. In their own way every character had an obstacle to overcome that tied in with the story and I loved seeing them all come to a conclusion by the end of the main story. I really need to get to reading the others in this series but this one can also be read by itself. The series is interconnected but it has enough in it to ensure you don’t feel out of the loop with characters that were introduced in the other books.

I received this story as an ARC from the Author Agency and this is very much my own honest review 💕

If you love romance with a perfect blend of revenge, humor, and forbidden attraction, this book is a must-read. Emma is a powerhouse of a heroine—intelligent, determined, and a little lost after her career and love life are upended. Meanwhile, Seamus is the rugged, bad-boy brother-in-law with a heart of gold, offering to help her with an unconventional way to heal: revenge.

But it’s not just Seamus pushing the plan forward—Nicole, a mastermind of mischief, is the true architect behind their scheme. With her sharp wit and strategic mind, she ensures that Emma’s ex and his influencer girlfriend get exactly what they deserve. As the revenge plot thickens, so does the tension between Emma and Seamus, turning their playful partnership into something far more dangerous…and tempting.

The banter is sharp, the chemistry is electric, and the emotional depth makes this more than just a steamy romance. Their push-pull dynamic keeps you hooked, and their moments of vulnerability give the story heart. And if one romance isn't enough, you even get a second love story woven in, adding another layer of charm and depth that helps wrap the series in a truly fulfilling and satisfying way.

Fans of forbidden romance, close-proximity tension, and a little bit of chaos will adore this book. It’s sexy, smart, and utterly addictive—perfect for readers who like their romance with a little edge.

“The Love Destroyers” by Angela R. Casella is a interconnected standalone romance book in the Unlucky in Love series.

Thank you The Author Agency for the digital ARC. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Emma is a divorce lawyer that went through a bad breakup, got fired and was set up as being a stalker by her ex (that was also her boss). Seamus is a mechanic and her new brother-in-law (their siblings got married).

They meet at the wedding and even if they are attracted to each other, none of them wants another complicated relationship. Still, their relationship slowly develops after they come up with a plan called Operation Love Destroyers to get back on Emma’s ex and they spend a lot of time together.

The book is a romantic slow burn with funny moments. The forbidden romance, with a lot of banter and tension turned into a mature relationship.

Seamus is an interesting character with secrets. He acts like a bad boy, but he is sweet and caring. I liked that he quit smoking after meeting Emma. He also did his best to help her, ending up injured multiple times.

Emma has a great character development. She is not so likable at first, but slowly starts to stand up for herself and heal from the hurt caused by her ex.
The side characters are also funny and helpful. I especially liked Chuck, who is a parental figure for Seamus/ roommate.
Overall this was a fun read.

4.5 STARS . I didn't read the other books in this series (yet !)
I listened to this audio through Hoopla. The narrators are new to me: Ada Sinclair and Tyler Donne.
Well cast. Tyler took some getting used to. His voice(s) for other than the Hero were funny. Kind of reminded me of Bowen Yang from SNL (kinda on the snarky side). Speaking of snarky. There's a lot of witty banter. It starts out with the heroine, Emma is a big mess. Her ex set her up to lose credibility & her ability to practice law. It doesn't look like she's going to get out of her mess. She meet cutes Seamus. He's related to previous characters from previous books- Rosie (his sister) and Emma is sister's with Anthony from a previous book.
I was in for the ride with these two. There were a lot of LOL moments. There's a slow(ish) burn, but then some fairly hot sexy times. And of course, the ever appealing revenge plot.
Emma's mom is... well I think I know someone like her. She's a widow, a couple of times over. She's a little eccentric, but sweet to Emma. I had a little trouble keeping up with the supporting characters, but I caught on. I do want to read the previous books in this series.
I enjoy this author's writing style. Very original expressions, and have I mentioned the quirky characters? I highly recommend this book. A cure for my reading slump.

Seamus and Emma sitting in a tree...

Well really that title should say "leaning against a wall" but that doesn't have the same ring to it. I enjoyed Emma a lot more than I thought I would based off the snippets we've seen of her in the previous books. I knew I'd end up loving Seamus because who doesn't love a bad boy with a secret heart of gold? Nicole and Damien never fail to amuse with their antics and I still love her "do whatever the hell you want" attitude.

This was definitely more of a slow burn book than some of Angela's other books, but surprisingly I didn't mind that. The payoff was worth the wait, especially for these 2 characters. ;) Emma felt like a really relatable character. Her life was in shambles from a bad relationship so she decided to come home and live in her childhood home. She does all these things to try and find the spark in her life again and Seamus is such a good character to help push her into getting her life back on track.

This book could easily be read as a standalone, but why wouldn't you want to start from the beginning? There are also some Easter eggs from Angela's previous series for anyone else whose been here from the very beginning. :)

This one was a slooow burn - and SO good! Lots of tension and will they-won’t they. Emma and Seamus were the perfect opposites attract couple. They really could not have been more different on paper, but their core values lined up to make them so good together. And I love that they were both cynical at the onset. It fit their personalities perfectly. I loved this couple, and the vindication they get in the end along with the hea. Nicole was fantastic comedic relief, as usual. She and Mrs. Rosings are truly masterminds. Chuck was a great supporting character (his wholesome nature is just the best) and I grew surprising attached to carrot’s storyline too. And Jeffery was the perfect villain we all love to hate. The Love Festroyers is a well written storyline and a fun read!
The Love Destroyers is a standalone, but part of a larger series that I recommend reading for more fantastic writing, banter, and cameos from the other characters in this book, many of whom have their own books. And then I’d recommend reading some more of Angela Casella’s series because they are all so good!

I was kindly offered an ARC of The Love Destroyers by The Author Agency and Angela Casella. All opinions are my own.

The Love Destroyers is book four in the Unlucky in Love Series, and it’s another home run. While you’ll definitely appreciate the returning characters if you’ve read the earlier books, this one can easily be enjoyed as a standalone romance.

Emma’s story is a mix of heartbreak and hope. After surviving the emotional equivalent of a dumpster fire (aka her last relationship), she’s back home, trying to keep it together while celebrating her brother’s wedding. Enter Seamus—charming, complicated, and carrying a past of his own. The instant chemistry between Emma and Seamus is electric, filled with flirtatious banter. Their connection feels authentic, with the right balance of spark and vulnerability.

And of course, Nicole and Damien are back, bringing their signature brand of chaos and entertainment. I love how the series gives readers glimpses of familiar faces, adding depth without overshadowing Emma and Seamus’s story.

If you’re a fan of:
💖 HEAs (Happily Ever Afters)
💬 Sharp, witty banter
🔥 Chemistry that jumps off the page

…then this book is for you.

The Love Destroyers is a perfect feel-good read, blending romance, humor, and heartfelt moments. Highly recommend!.
